THG NOTE: Do not get too close to a microphone-wielding Rihanna. That’s the moral of this story, as a concert-goer learned the hard way in Birmingham, UK, where she used a mic to take a swing at a clingy fan. Looks like she connected hard with that thing, too. Take a look: Rihanna Hits Fan With Microphone The incident went down as Rihanna , 25, left the stage to walk by a crowd of screaming admirers, touching their hands as she sang “We Found Love.” Then one fan held on just a little bit too long, and paid the price. A fan-recorded video of her lashing out has gone viral, though it’s unclear exactly where the fan was hit or how badly he or she was hurt, if at all. Remember, THGers: Think before you reach for #BadGirlRiRi.

Debbie Rowe is not feuding with the Jackson family and is not planning to wrestle away legal guardianship of Paris Jackson , despite reports to the contrary. Unless the situation changes drastically, she will make no such overtures, because she has too much respect for Michael’s wishes, his mother and his kids. She’d be willing to step in under certain circumstances, but it’s not her wish. Rowe doesn’t want to split up MJ’s three children (two of whom she is the biological mother of) and “likes and respects” Katherine Jackson, their grandmother. This is all way too logical and clear-headed for a Jackson family article. Debbie is also said to be a big fan of TJ Jackson, Michael’s nephew and the children’s co-guardian, though she worries he has too much on his plate. He has a family of his own to care for on top of Michael’s kids, so that’s a real concern, though for the moment there is no imminent change coming. As for Debbie Rowe and Paris’ relationship, she calls Debbie “Mom” and they behave as mother and daughter – with Debbie the unquestioned boss. According to sources cited by TMZ, she is often “laying down the law” and not afraid to show her little girl tough love when she feels it’s necessary. While Paris Jackson is welcome to stay and live with her, Debbie doesn’t want to split her up from Prince and Blanket, her older and younger brothers. The latter, in particular, is vulnerable and feels abandoned. All sounds like she’s thought this through carefully and with the best of intentions, which makes one wonder why there is such backlash against her. Michael’s brothers and sisters – with the exception of Janet Jackson – have been on a campaign against Debbie being part of Paris’ life in any way. Might be just what she needs though, right? You tell us: Debbie as guardian … Yes. It sounds like she needs her mom! No! I don’t trust that woman! View Poll »
Sebastien De La Cruz returned to the national stage last night to sing the national anthem, two days after being subjected to racist and hate-filled Tweets . The 11-year old was back behind the microphone (introduced by San Antonio Mayor Julian Castro ) despite the fact that many people online reacted in shock and disgust over someone with Mexican heritage being given such a platform. But De La Cruz handled the controversy with grace and maturity , the same way he handled this rendition of the Star-Spangled Banner: Sebastien De La Cruz Sings National Anthem Said Spurs coach Greg Popovich prior to tip-off: “Given the fact that there’s still a significant element of bigotry and racism in our nation, I’m not surprised. It still plagues us, obviously. And what I was surprised by was how proud these idiots are of their ignorance, by printing their names next to their comments.” Of De La Cruz, the coach added: “He’s a class act. Way more mature than most his age. And as much as those comments by the idiots sadden you about your country, he makes you feel that the future could be very bright.” Behind a combined 55 points from LeBron James and Dwyane Wade, meanwhile, Miami went on to win Game Four, 109-93. We’re tied at two games apiece!
Lashon T. Hollman, a 21-year old from Saginaw, Michigan, was convicted of first-degree murder yesterday by a jury that needed only 15 minutes to deliberate. Hollman was standing trial on charges that he broke into the apartment of his neighbor, Cassandra Nelson, on February 1, 2012 – and proceeded to drop a television set on her head before stabbing her 54 times. After a week and a half of testimony, the jury convicted Hollman on counts of premeditated murder, torture, and carrying a dangerous weapon with unlawful intent. Hollman – who initially denied all involvement in the incident – lowered his head and cried when the jury’s verdict was read. The first-degree murder and felony murder charges carry with them mandatory penalties of life in prison without the possibility of parole. He will be sentenced on May 9.
Barbara Walters will retire from the world of journalism next year, Deadline reports, confirming that the iconic reporter will hang up her microphone in May of 2014. The announcement will reportedly come long before that, as ABC will set Walters up with many sendoffs and retrospectives before the big day arrives. Walters became the first female to co-host a news program when she got behind the Today desk in 1974. She was then the first co-anchor of a network evening news broadcast when she joined ABC Evening News in 1976 and she proceeded to anchor 20/20 for two decades. Walters is now best known for her role on The View , which is set to undergo its own changes in the near future. Joy Behar is leaving. NeNe Leakes may be coming . And the future of Elisabeth Hasselbeck is anyone’s guess. Joy Behar is

Christina Aguilera is not one to hold back her cleavage opinion. At the Billboard/Hollywood Reporter Film & TV Conference yesterday, the artist took to the microphone as the keynote speaker and blasted pretty much everyone in sight. Sort of. On The Voice vs. American Idol : “I’ve not actually seen a full episode of any of the other music shows. I saw the commercials early on of American Idol of Simon being a dick. I was like, ‘Man, that’s not what it’s about!’ I didn’t want to treat people like that. I wanted to do The Voice to show that we can be positive. We don’t have to knock people down.” On bloggers : “Now everyone is a critic. I don’t read blogs. It’s just God-knows-who in Buttfuck wherever writing hate shit. You can’t take it seriously. I’m sure you’ve all been hated on at some point by buttfuck people. It’s real talk today.” On her fellow judges : “We’ve got a chemistry like a family. Everyone knows me and Adam [Levine] can bicker and get on each other’s case. Cee-Lo is just cool, he comes from a real artistic value place. Blake [Shelton] is just a good old time. He’s become my big bro.” On her raw power : “It’s hard being such a powerful woman in the business. I’m known for not always being warm and fuzzy, because you’ll just get bulldozed over…. In my music, I come off as being very open about being insecure, vulnerable and sensitive sometimes. Then I’ll go onstage and be this powerhouse force to be reckoned with.”
David Correy has a message for Diamond White and Carly Rose Sonenclar : Not so fast, ladies! With praise (rightfully) reigning down on these very young women, the X Factor contestant stepped up to the microphone in front of L.A. Reid, Justin Bieber and Scotter Braun last night and delivered an impressive cover of “Domino.’ Between his voice, his look and his story of seeking out his birth mom, it’s hard to believe Corry won’t be a factor on Season 2… David Correy – “Domino”
