Miley Cyrus: Vindicated by Love Magazine, Never Pushed to Replace Beyonce

Miley Cyrus has been vindicated. And a potentially epic feud is over before it ever began. According to Perez Hilton, Cyrus went off to LOVE magazine this month about how she’s “the total package” and the logical choice to take over the “vacuum” created when motherhood does “crap” to Beyonce’s body and that singer falls out of the spotlight. The only problem? Miley has adamantly denied saying any of this. And the publication has now backed her up. “@MileyCyrus never said anything to us about Beyonce,” the magazine Tweeted today. “The quotes were made up and we’re trying to get to the bottom of where this came from. WE ALL LOVE BEYONCE.” And that includes Miley. Since the false story went up, she has been in full denial mode, Tweeting such messages as “That quote people MADE UP about Beyonce just made me lol! Imagine if I said I got ‘the looks and the curves I’m just better!'” She also asked: “How are people allowed to make up s–t & then put quotes around it saying I said that s–t! WTF!!?!” So now one controversy is out of the way for Cyrus at least, but another one is still circulating around the Internet: Is Miley bisexual?

Miley Cyrus Denies Beyonce Beef, "Getting 2 the Bottom" of Fake Quotes on Perez Hilton

Miley Cyrus is hitting back after some inflammatory quotes attributed to her were published by Perez Hilton, denying she said anything about Beyonce. The mohawked, tattooed singer covers the March issue of LOVE , and in it, according to Perez, she claimed that she is ready to fill Bey’s shoes. “Beyonce has been a big inspiration to me but she’s been out for such a long time,” Miley allegedly said. “People are always looking for new blood.” “That’s what I bring to the game now, new blood. I got the total package you know, the curves, the rhythm, and the voice. I’m just the best.” “As Beyonce grows in motherhood and all the crap it does to your body, it will create a vacuum for fresh young faces to rise up and no one else can properly fill that void right now.” “I’m the only white female singer that could fill that slot right now and do it right, you know? I’m just the total package, you know?” “All things must start and end and I hope to have the same success as other icons in the game when my run is over. But for now, my run is just starting.” Wow. This would be a potentially awesome celebrity feud if Miley Cyrus really said that, but she’s adamant she did not – and she’s far from happy. Miley ranted on Twitter, putting the fake quote generator on notice: “That quote people MADE UP about Beyonce just made me lol! Imagine if I said I got ‘the looks and the curves I’m just better!’ Bahahahhaha. “How are people allowed to make up s–t & then put quotes around it saying I said that s–t! WTF!!?!” “Don’t worry. getting 2 the bottom of this s–t. making the liar retract the statement. U can cause ALOT of drama but NOT between me & B!” “Thank god I just woke up from this nightmare.” Perez Hilton has not responded to being put on blast, but the alleged quotes aren’t on the LOVE website and the issue itself won’t be out until February. Clearly the Beyonce quotes didn’t originate from Miley, although it’s not clear if Perez BS’d them himself or if he ganked them off another gossip site. It’s possible this was meant to be a goof and some sites took it seriously, or it could’ve been false story deliberately fed to some celebrity outlets. Either way, the singer is not impressed by the stunt. As for the Miley Cyrus bisexual rumors, she hasn’t called those out yet, so … just saying.

Miley Cyrus closed out 2013 with one last memorable performance from Times Square Tuesday night, and managed to stay mostly clothed in the process. With temperatures in New York City well below freezing and Cyrus tweeting about battling a bad “cough/cold” beforehand, she was up against it. “If I can just get thru tonight I can have a nice lil break,” she wrote prior to the show, but like any pro’s pro, she put on her gold crop top and went to work. Miley Cyrus New Year’s Eve Performance Miley Cyrus’ performance on New Year’s Rockin’ Eve, which took place about 20 minutes before midnight on ABC, began with an attempt to “#GetItRight.” Her vocals on that hashtagged track sounded a bit pitchy, but fans briefly got to see her grind on a backup dancer half her height, so there’s that. Then the “Wrecking Ball” came through, and she owned the stage. As she broke down the proverbial walls of the crowd, one of the biggest songs of 2013 became a giant sing-a-long with fans who know it by heart by now. The 21-year-old singer quipped to host Ryan Seacrest that her shimmering gold outfit and fur coat marked “the most clothes I’ve been in in 2013.” You can blame/thank the Northeast weather for that. Either way, the Year of Miley Cyrus came to an end with a shiver as much as with a bang(erz). How will the provocative, controversial star top herself in 2014? We can only wait and see, THGers. Christmas is a special, joyous time of year … but when you get close and distant family together for extended periods of time, it can also be embarrassing. Especially if your name is Molly and your relatives buy and wear these t-shirts. A Reddit user captioned the pic, “My cousin Molly’s grandma went into Spencer’s to look for presents for her family. She thinks she found the best presents ever!” Molly is my homegirl . What a coincidence that Spencer’s chose that name! The name Molly reached peak popularity in the early ’90s, (thank you, Molly Ringwald), then took on a new meaning this year (thank you, Miley Cyrus ). The name, of course, has become a euphemism for the drug MDMA, which all the (not) cool kids are talking about … and these folks likely aren’t aware of. Let’s just hope they aren’t Tweeting about their hot cousins , as well.

Steve Martin Explains, Apologizes For Racist Tweet

Social media has led to a social gaffe for Steve Martin, but he’s taking full responsibility for his racist tweet and explaining in detail how it came about. The actor, writer and former Oscar host, 68, was quipping with fans on Twitter when he apparently went too far when the topic turned to grammar. Asked by a fan, “Is this how you spell lasonia?” Martin said: “It depends. Are you in an African-American neighborhood or at an Italian restaurant?” Quickly realizing the line might offend, Martin deleted the tweet and apologized . In the face of criticism that ensued, he offered a longer explanation. “I was riffing on Twitter, inviting people to ask me grammar questions,” the funnyman wrote. “I replied with what I hoped were funny answers.” “For example, a person might write ‘What’s the difference between then and than?’ I would say, ‘then is a conjunctive preposition, and than is a misspelling of thank’.” “I have done similar things to this on other occasions, and there is a great spirit of fun between me and the Twitter followers.” “I was going along fine when someone wrote, ‘How do you spell lasonia?’ I wrote: ‘It depends if you are in an African American neighborhood or an Italian restaurant.'” “I knew of the name Lasonia. I did not make it up, nor do I find it funny.” “So to me the answer was either Lasonia (with a capital), or Lasagna, depending on what you meant. That they sounded alike in this rare and particular context struck me as funny.” “That was the joke. When the tweet went out, I saw some negative comments and immediately deleted the tweet and apologized.” “I gathered the perception was that I was making fun of African American names. Later, thinking it over, I realized the tweet was irresponsible, and made a fuller apology on Twitter.” “Comedy is treacherous. I used to try out jokes in clubs and the audience’s feedback would tell me when I had crossed a line, or how to shape a joke so it is clear.” “Today, the process is faster. It’s your brain, a button, then millions of reactions. But it’s my job to know.” Apology accepted?
