A dancer who dressed like a giant pink teddy bear and who Twerked behind Miley Cyrus during her Video Music Awards routine has spoken out and expressed deep shame over the routine. Seriously. “I will be the first one to tell you that standing on that stage, in that costume was one of the most degrading things I felt like I could ever do,” Hollis Jane wrote on her blog last week. “I realize not everyone shares my opinion and I might just be young and naive, but I feel like the acceptance of this kind of treatment has got to stop.” Jane is one of the little people with whom Cyrus has performed over the past few weeks, from the VMAs to the Today Show stage on Monday. “For decades, little people have not been taken seriously and we still continue to not be,” the dancer wrote. “I had never been in a performance where I was purely meant to be gawked or laughed at. I will never forget that performance because it is what forced me to draw my personal line in the sand.” So why did she go through with it? Money. Jane said her computer and her car have both been in the shop recently and she has been strapped of for cash. But Jane was also chosen to accompany Cyrus on her upcoming tour and she has decided it’s not worth it. “I was being stared and laughed at for all of the wrong reasons,” she says of the VMAs. “I was being looked at as a prop…as something less than human.” Where do you stand on Miley using little people as part of her live performances? Marilyn Monroe’s plastic surgery files from the ’50s and ’60s will be auctioned off to the highest bidder later this fall, according to media reports. According to auctioneers, the late icon’s medical records, which include her plastic surgery procedures, will be available in an auction next month. “Rumors regarding Marilyn Monroe’s plastic surgery continue to astonish the media and public,” Julien’s Auctions, located in Hollywood, commented. The auction revealed that the files that will be auctioned include many X-rays alongside several doctors’ notations, not all of which involve plastic surgery. For example, five years before her death in 1962 at the age of 36, medical data revealed that the renowned sex symbol had an ectopic pregnancy. “[Her procedures have] long remained a mystery,” the auctioneer said. “Because her looks were so natural, it was hard for many to believe the reports that in 1950 Monroe had undergone her first plastic surgery.” “”[The files] clear any doubt of Monroe’s early plastic surgery procedures and cast new details on the actual procedures that would transform [Monroe].” The auction house also revealed that Monroe used many different aliases during her doctor visits. One of these aliases is believed to be Marilyn Miller. In 1958, Monroe allegedly sought cosmetic help for her “chin deformity.” The superstar’s complaint stemmed from the fact that in 1950, she received a cartilage implant in her chin, which has since started to dissolve. She also had a tip rhinoplasty, which modified her nose, reports say. The very last medical entry in the actress’ file is dated June 7, 1962. Monroe had used the alias Joan Newman during her medical visit to treat a fall. The auction will be held on November 10.
Suzanne Somers sent an indirect message to Miley Cyrus this week: Think again, youngin! A few days after Miley told Matt Lauer that she’s heard sex stops after one turns 40, Somers appeared on The Talk and shared some very personal information with the hosts. The 66-year old was asked how often she gets it on with her husband of 36 years and replied: “He’s on hormones and I’m on hormones,” adding that the couple has intercourse “a couple times a day.” No, not a week, people. A DAY! The audience erupted with applause at this announcement, to which Somers laughed and said: “I’m going to be sorry I said that. What is it about men at four in the morning? And then I’m really awake around eight or so. We have busy mornings.” Somers was on hand to promote her new book, “I’m Too Young for This!: The Natural Hormone Solution to Enjoy Perimenopause,” and it sounds like she could have offered some advice months ago to Bruce and Kris Jenner .
