Joe Gendreau’s time to impress Emily Maynard expired this week. Reflecting on the non-love connection that earned him a rare one-on-one date boot on The Bachelorette Monday, he said it just didn’t work out. Nothing scandalous or incendiary about it. Just didn’t click. “I tried to keep the rose out of mind. I didn’t want to look at it as a challenge and be like, ‘I really want that rose,'” Gendreau said. “I wanted to see how my time was with her and entertain the idea of being able to hit it off with her.” “I thought it was going well, but ultimately didn’t work out. We really didn’t hit it off with each other. We are in different places in our lives.” “I’m a single, free-spirited individual. Emily, she is looking for someone more settled and committed to family and work.” To that effect, Joe’s “five-year-plan” seemed to be his undoing. “I said, ‘I want to be happy with no regrets’ in five years … I think she was more looking for more detail like, ‘I want to be here with these many kids.'” “I didn’t take offense. She’s determined in what she wants and she didn’t see that in me. I answered truthfully. That’s me being myself.” “I was not closed-minded about it. The actor delivers a shockingly spot-on turn as a younger version of Tommy Lee Jones’ iconic man in black, to the point that co-star Will Smith was “shocked” at Brolin’s “amazing” work . Brolin’s incredible performance aside, however, it’s widely believed among the “Men in Black” family that given the right circumstances, Jones’ Agent K would kick the ever-loving slick out of Brolin’s younger version. At the “Men in Black 3” red carpet in New York earlier this week, MTV News asked Smith, director Barry Sonnenfeld and more to weigh in on the hypothetical battle of the Ks, and the votes were almost unanimously in Jones’ favor. “At the end of the day I’m going to go with Tommy Lee Jones,” said Sonnenfeld. “You gotta go with the original, and I just would not mess with Tommy. He knows some mean moves.” Smith agreed: “When Tommy Lee Jones comes up [to you], feel his arm. That’s a cattle man right there. You don’t want to creep up on Tommy Lee Jones.” But even as the odds-on favorite to win against his younger counterpart, Jones himself wasn’t so sure of who would come out on top. Asked to weigh in on the theoretical clash, Jones was taken aback. “I don’t know. I don’t know how to answer a question like that.” With Jones unable to endorse his K over his ’60s-era self, the stage was set for a Brolin comeback. Alice Eve was the first to cast her vote in the future “Oldboy” star’s favor. “Josh Brolin, obviously,” she said. Even when it was pointed out that everyone else had thrown their support behind Jones, Eve remained committed to her pick. “I’m right. Have you met Brolin? Look at him!” When it came time for Brolin to toss out his two cents on the K-on-K action, we expected him to stump for his version of the straight-laced alien-investigator. To our surprise, he sided with Smith and Sonnenfeld’s opinion. “Older K for sure,” he grinned. “He’s got the experience, he’s got the moves, and he’s got the look. ‘What is this? This is dirty!’ Drita D’Avanzo exclaims after reciting a passage of ‘Fifty Shades’ for MTV News. It’s impossible not to have an opinion on E L James’ erotic New York Times best-seller “Fifty Shades of Grey.” Single ladies, girlfriends and housewives have all been drawn to the steamy novel — not to mention “Mob Wives.” VH1 reality star Carla Facciolo hasn’t read the current “it” book, but she gets the gist of it. “To me, it’s like a sex book,” she told MTV News in an attempt to describe the “50 Shades” phenomenon . “Grey is a guy that every girl wants; he’s like a dream guy and he seduces.” Carla’s synopsis was enough to whet the appetite of her “Mob Wives” pal Drita D’Avanzo, who immediately let her curiosity get the best of her. “I wanna read it,” Drita blurted out. Lucky for the reality-show beauty, MTV News had a copy of the book on hand for her to sample. “It’s very intense,” Carla warned. Still, Drita opened the book and began her moment of “Fifty Shades” discovery. “Get off the bed, stand over here,” D’Avanzo read from one of the book’s later chapters, in which playboy Christian Grey introduces his naive lover Anastasia Steele to a kinky sexual experience. “He holds out his hand and in his palm are two shiny balls linked with a thick, black thread,” Drita continued to read before she stopped herself, shocked by the sexual suggestiveness. “What the f— is this?” Drita questioned in her unmistakable Staten Island, New York, accent. “They’re ass beads? What is this? This is dirty — what the hell is this?” “Fifty Shades” wasn’t Drita’s cup of tea, but maybe she will change her mind when the book is adapted into a film (Universal Pictures has already secured the rights). “How do you even know about this, Carla?” she asked, chastising her buddy. “You, for even knowing about that book, I gotta think twice about you.” Carla had only one reasonable explanation: “It’s the hottest book out right now.” Filth or sexy fan fiction? Stacii Jae Johnson Obama Fundraiser “How To Striptease” Instruction Video Conservatives are crying about this now: A conservative nonprofit website on Wednesday revealed the “breaking” news that one of President Barack Obama’s volunteer fundraisers made a 2004 video about exotic dancing — with her clothes on. A report by The Washington Free Beacon, a project of the 501(c)4 Center for American Freedom, uncovered that Stacii Jae Johnson made a 2004 instructional film titled “I Want To Strip For My Man.” While the website calls Johnson a “major Obama campaign fundraiser,” the amount she raised was less than $100,000, putting her in the lowest grouping of first quarter volunteer bundlers. “The DVD invites female viewers to ‘slip into something sexy, strap on the 6 inch stiletto heels, pop it in the player, and prepare to journey into your bodies,’” the Free Beacon’s Andrew Stiles writes. “These self-described ‘sexual revolutionaries’ provide expert instruction on “signature exotic moves” such as the ‘fold over,’ the ‘crawl,’ the ‘spread eagle,’ and the ‘booty clap.’” “It is unclear whether the Obama campaign was aware of the existence of ‘I Want To Strip For My Man’ before accepting donations raised by Johnson,” Stiles adds. He also notes that Johnson has appeared in a “star-studded urban satire” of the “The Blair Witch Project” and links her to African-American celebrities like Tyler Perry and B.Smith, Chris Tucker and Hank Aaron. Of the nine reviews on Amazon of her instructional video, only one was negative because the film “has NO stripping in it!” Overall, the DVD received four out of five stars. Daniel Craig experiences trauma and Judi Dench’s past comes back to haunt her in the first trailer for the new James Bond film. By Josh Wigler Daniel Craig in “Skyfall” “Skyfall” might be “done” for James Bond, but it’s only just beginning for Agent 007’s most devoted fans. The world got its first look at the 23rd Bond flick Monday (May 21) with the release of the first official “Skyfall” teaser trailer , putting Daniel Craig back into the British spy’s iconic tuxedo for the first time since 2008’s “Quantum of Solace.” Even with this early sneak peek (the film doesn’t land in theaters until November 9), the exact who’s, what’s and why’s surrounding “Skyfall” remain shrouded in mystery. The little we do know is hardly elaborated upon in the trailer: Dame Judi Dench’s M has dark secrets in her past, secrets that are coming back to haunt her and her fellow agents, and it’s up to Bond to put a stop to the madness. Somehow, Javier Bardem is involved to terrorize our hero, reliably silly bad-guy haircut firmly along for the ride, but we don’t see Bardem and his bleach-blonde ‘do in the teaser, at least not up close and personal. Still, even a teaser as secretive as this one isn’t without its share of decodable mysteries. Keep reading for five key scenes from the “Skyfall” teaser. ‘Done’ Bond’s interrogation at the outset of the trailer does more than inform the viewer that our favorite super-spy has Agent Provocateur lingerie on the mind. When the game of free-word association arrives at the term “skyfall,” Bond tenses up, thinking back on a dark memory that involves him entering a room, gun drawn, with a dead body already slumped in a chair. (It’s a split-second scene, viewable around the 29-second mark.) Though the “skyfall” referred to in the title and the interrogation remains a mystery, it’s clearly linked to a painful memory that Bond would rather forget … and given the horrors he’s seen in his kill-happy career, the events of the Skyfall mission must be truly traumatic. Killer Guilt Agent 007 isn’t the only one looking back in anger. As has been known for some time, the normally secretive M’s history plays a pivotal role in the story of “Skyfall,” and we get our first hints of that in two key shots in the new trailer. The most obvious one comes later; M and Bond wordlessly stare off at a bleak, hilly landscape, marking a rare occasion where the two agents are out on the field together. But there’s another, easier-to-miss moment involving M at the teaser’s 45-second mark. It’s M, not Bond, who stands silently in a room filled with caskets, the U.K. flag draped over each and every one. Rumors abound that “Skyfall” will see a tragic end for Dench’s M — perhaps her somber appearance in this scene is a taste of the tragedy to come. It’s no secret that Nicki Minaj has a flair for the dramatic, and on Wednesday (May 16), when she debuted her “Right by My Side” video on MTV, Nicki surprised many by casting the Queensbridge rap great as her leading man. The bright and cheery video opens with a pensive Nicki seated in a high-backed chair fit for a queen; her mind is clearly elsewhere, unaware of the camera’s gaze. Only a few seconds pass before Nas struts into the scene and the two lean in to share a smooch only to find their lives subjected to a rewind sequence before their lips touch. “It all comes down to this, I miss your morning,” Nicki sings on cue as the viewer is taken back in time. It’s all pretty rosy as the lovesick couple share deep conversation and an inside joke as Nas hands his honey a silver dollar, which she flips into a wishing well. The clip has all the makings of a Nicholas Sparks romance flick: There’s PDA, hand-holding, shopping trips and outdoor lunches. In one scene, Nas — who sports his trademark half-moon Caesar and big-framed 1980s-inspired glasses — surprises Nicki with a new car, topped off with a pink bow, of course. The reigning rap queen is so excited she leaps into his open arms. When Chris Brown shows up for his guest verse and duet-styled hook, he is set outside of the video’s story line, delivering passionate performance scenes but never interrupting the two lovebirds. Breezy is no doubt a superstar, but he sits as a third wheel on Nicki and Nas’ romantic ride. The vibe of the soft love song switches by the time the Female Weezy’s rap verse rolls in. It’s quite the verbal display as she sits beside Nas, wearing his hoodie and rapping in double-time of her own sexual prowess. “My p—y game so cold, that he always seem to come back/ ‘Cause he knows that it be a wrap when I’m riding it from the back,” she spits while wearing God’s Son’s oversized medallion around her neck. For the most part, the couple can’t stay away from each other, but there is clearly some separation between the two lovers, even if only for a brief, undefined moment. In the closing scene, a lonely and longing Nicki sits on a park bench under a full moon with a sullen look on her typically animated face. Her frown is quickly remedied when Nas pulls up besides his boo and takes a seat next to her.
