Jussie Smollett is Lying About Attack, Neighbors Actually Allege

Jussie Smollett was violently and brutally attacked by two men on the streets of Chicago early on the morning of January 29. Or was he , a bunch of very dumb and cruel and cynical people are now asking?!? As you’ve very likely heard about and/or read all about by now, the Empire star was harassed by a pair of assailants late last month on his way home from getting a late-night snack. These individuals allegedly screamed homophobic and racist epithets at the actor, prior to tying a rope around his neck and dumping bleach all over him. It was the epitome of a hate crime. It was a modern-day lynching. It was truly horrible. And yet… despite police confirming the assault… and despite Smollett certainly having no reason to lie about such a thing… a handful of people out there somehow don’t believe this heinous incident actually took place. “I don’t believe it happened the way he said it did,” said Agin Muhammad, who lives in the same high-rise near the Navy Pier as Smollett. On what is he basing this strong allegation? “I’ve been in this neighborhood five years. I don’t believe it, not around here … Half the people are gay and the other half are black,”  Muhammad explained to Page Six . Elsewhere, a patron at Lizzie McNeill’s Irish Pub – located approximately a block from the scene of the alleged assault – said Smollett’s story “doesn’t really make sense,” expounding as follows: “It’s a lie, because Chicago is the most liberal city around,” said this unnamed man. “They have cameras everywhere … Why can’t they find the attack?” This is quite the take. For starters, there is surveillance footage (below) of two men spotted right around the time and right around the place Smollett says he was attacked. Secondly, yes, Hillary Clinton won Cook County (which includes Chicago) with 75% of the vote in the 2016 Presidential campaign. That’s a huge margin of victory over Donald Trump. But it still means 25% of residents voted to Make America Great Again, making it mathmatically very plausible that two of those people screamed that Smollett is in “MAGA Country” while they pummelled him, which is what the actor has claimed. Smollett will soon start filming episodes of Empire once again, while he returned to the stage for a live singing performance just days after the incident. “I am not fully healed yet, but I’m going to, and I’m gonna stand strong with ya’ll,” the actor/singer said during a concert at the Troubadour club on the Sunset Strip. He added at the time: “I had to be here tonight, y’all. I couldn’t let those motherf-ckers win. So I will always stand for love. “I will never stand for anything other than that. Regardless of what anyone else says, I will only stand for love and I hope that you all stand with me.” Elsewhere, Smollett has been asked to turn over his phone records to the police because he has said he was on the phone with his manager at the time of his assault. Authorities therefore consider these records important evidence for the case. However, TMZ reports that Smollett has responded by turning over a redacted PDF of his phone bill. And police have requested the full , actual phone bill — or a download of Jussie’s phone; they say a PDF can be manipulated and cannot be used as any sort of evidence. “We have no reason to doubt the statements, but for a criminal investigation, we need to independently confirm the phone records,” Chicago police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi says. As for those who are casting doubt on Smollet’s story? His spokesperson says the following: Jussie is the victim here, which has been slated by the Superintendent of Police. Jussie has voluntarily provided his phone records from within an hour of the attack and given multiple statements to police. Chicago PD has repeatedly informed us that they find Jussie’s account of what happened that night consistent and credible. Superintendent Johnson has been clear from day one that Jussie is a victim. We are continuing to work closely with the Chicago PD and remain confident that they will find Jussie’s attackers and bring them to justice.

I don’t believe it, not around here … Half the people are gay and the other half are black.” On Sunday, Chicago police said Smollett has yet to turn over data from his cellphone to verify that he was on the phone with his music manager, Brandon Moore, when he was attacked. Related:  Is Jussie Smollett Telling The Whole Truth About His Attack? “We have no reason to doubt the statements, but for a criminal investigation, we need to independently confirm the phone records,” Chicago police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said. “We offered to take the phone to download the data and he expressed he couldn’t be without his phone for several hours.” Chicago Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson told the Daily News Smollett, 36, is being treated as a crime victim, but would be held accountable if cops learn he filed a false report. Yolanda Adams, Fantasia And Andra Day Honor Aretha Franklin At 2019 Grammy Awards [VIDEO]

Source: Emma McIntyre / Getty While there was MUCH to discuss about the tribute to Motown at the 61st Grammy Awards, one tribute that felt brief but powerful was the one for the Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin who passed away last year at 76. Yolanda Adams , Fantasia and Andra Day stood side by side as they belted out Aretha’s signature 1967 hit “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman”. Each woman took a particular verse before coming together to a fiery, impactful finale. Adams previously paid tribute to Franklin with a performance of “Mary Don’t You Weep” at her funeral last August. You can watch the performance of “A Natural Woman” below. Leida Margaretha, 90 Day Fiance Star, Granted Restraining Order Against Stepdaughter

The drama between Leida Margaretha and her husband’s daughter has reached a new high. Or perhaps a new low , depending on how you view it. All we know for certain is this: it’s reached the legal system for certain. On Friday, Leida came face-to-face in a Wisconsin courtroom with Tasha, the 19-year old daughter of her husband, Eric. According to Leida’s attorney, Tasha was subsequently ordered to stay away from Leida not just physically, but even virtually as well. This is to say, Tasha cannot say anything on social media that antagonizes the 90 Day Fiance star, who made her polarizing presence felt on many occasions during this past season of the Lifetime program. The injunction is in place for the next four years — but it does not apply to Eric, who can see his daughter whenever he chooses to do so. Leida’s VERY tumultuous relationship with her stepdaughter was documented throughout season 6 of 90 Day Fiance. For one thing, Tasha actually lived with her dad until  Leida threatened to leave Eric unless he gave the teenager the boot. As you might expect, this move angered Tasha greatly, considering her dad got engaged to the Leida just two days after meeting her. Tasha later revealed that she has not spoken to her father since he chose basically a stranger over his own flesh and blood. “I can fake a smile. I can fake being friendly. But you know what I can’t fake? I can’t fake the years, heartbreak, and anxiety attacks,” Tasha wrote on her Instagram Story in January. She added at the time: “I can’t fake keeping people up at night because I’m so hurt I’m physically SCREAMING as the tears stream down my face. “I can’t fake going to the hospital for stressing myself so sick and being so depressed I stopped eating for almost two weeks. “I can’t fake ripping my hair out and punching my desk because I don’t get what I did to deserve this. So please. NONE of you know anything. “So stop acting like you do.” Last month, Leida tried to extend an olive branch to Tasha, but she went about it in immature fashion, having Eric read a statement on Instagram Live that said “please reach Tasha, tell her you love her. “Tell her I care about her. Tell her I am sorry … I am sorry for what I’ve done to her.” This didn’t exactly succeed in smoothing things over, however. Elsewhere, the relationship between Eric and Leida, has been rocky and ugly from the start as well. Everyone pretty much hates these two, although some critics have very clearly crossed a line. In an Instagram video shared this past December, the newlyweds said t hey were quitting 90 Day Fiance because they had allegedly received death treats. Just a few weeks later, police responded to the pair’s home after Leida claimed Eric pulled her hair “really hard” and “grabbed a knife.” For his part, the former marine claimed that he was trying to “wrestle [the] knife from” his wife because she was threatening self-harm. We’re not about to take sides here, but Leida has admitted in the recent past to struggling with her mental health. “I’m getting [too] emotional because my family keeps saying I’m crazy,” she said at one point, adding: “I’m crazy and I’m not supposed to get anxiety and I’m not supposed to get depression. I just can’t win them all. We are [sic] all need to do a public apology. And I still need to do the counseling.” In this same social media post, she said the following about her stepdaughter, who is pictured above. “Tasha and I [are] supposed to be a best friend [sic] because we have so many things in common. She needs to realize that. We both can help each other. “I just want Tasha to stop living in denial. Back to reality. All those people use her story to tear us apart. Real queens fix each other’s crowns.”

Question: Should Black & Brown People Care About The Green New Deal?

Original post:

Source: Alex Wong / Getty On Thursday, New York Democrat Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez introduced a new climate change resolution aimed at bringing a Green New Deal legislation to life. At 29 years old, Alexandria is repping for a millennial generation that’s often unfairly categorized as entitled at best and ill-informed at worst. But somewhere in between this is a generation demanding better from our leaders, and in many cases the youth are following the trails of movers and shakers that came before us. But with that being said, what are the goals of this Green New Deal and maybe more importantly… Should Black and Brown people care? In many instances, politicians might sell an idea to the most marginalized that ultimately won’t benefit us in the end. Well first, a couple of things on the Green New Deal, according to NPR :  1. Right now, this is a non-binding resolution Ocasio-Cortez isn’t actually introducing a bill that would create programs if passed by Congress. Instead, she’s introducing a proposal to the House entitled “Recognizing the duty of the Federal Government to create a Green New Deal.” If agreed upon, the House will affirm that the initiatives in the proposal should be carried out in the coming years. Meanwhile, Democrat Sen. Ed Markey  is introducing a companion proposal to the Senate. 2. The goal of the proposal is to create millions of “good, high-wage jobs” by aiming for net-zero greenhouse gas emissions. No matter if you’re Black, Brown, alabaster… Who doesn’t like a good “high-wage job?” As for greenhouse gases…they’re not cute. They trap a lot of heat in the atmosphere which contributes to global warming and thus climate change, and thus some of the bizarre ( and dangerous ) weather we’ve been experiencing lately. 3. It’s urgent According to the United Nation’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change , the world has 12 years to reverse greenhouse gas emission trends in order to prevent irreversible global warming. So yea, the Green New Deal is trying to carry out it’s plan in the next ten years. 4. The U.S. stay emitting greenhouse gases (carbon dioxide being the biggest one), and that’s gotta stop. According to the resolution, the U.S. is “responsible for a disproportionate amount of greenhouse gas emissions, having emitted 20 percent of global greenhouse gas emissions through 2014. 5. The goal is to switch from energy that creates greenhouse gases (e.g. the burning of fossil fuels) to clean, renewable energy (e.g. solar energy, wind energy, etc.) Just think about how oil powers cars or how coal might power electricity. The Green New Deal is trying to stop all of that and switch to renewable energy. O.K. so now that we know the primary goals, how are we going to get this, clean renewable energy AND HOW ARE BLACK & BROWN PEOPLE GOING TO BE AFFECTED? More on Black and Brown people soon. But first, below are some strategies the New Deal laid out in a FAQ sheet and summarized by NPR. A lot of these strategies hope to create new jobs, which can boost the economy: “upgrading all existing buildings” in the U.S. for energy efficiency; working with farmers “to eliminate pollution and greenhouse gas emissions … as much as is technologically feasible” (while supporting family farms and championing “universal access to healthy food”); “Overhauling transportation systems” to reduce greenhouse gas emissions — including expanding electric car manufacturing, creating “charging stations everywhere,” and broadening high-speed rail to “a scale where air travel stops becoming necessary” Now for the big question… How will this affect Black and Brown people? Well first off, Black and Brown people are deeply affected by greenhouse gases and things that pollute the air. According to a 2018 Environmental Protection Agency report , when studying areas most affected by particular air emissions, such as soot, people of color and especially Black people are affected the most. The report showed that “those in poverty had 1.35 times higher burden than did the overall population, and non-Whites had 1.28 times higher burden. Blacks, specifically, had 1.54 times higher burden than did the overall population.” This equates to a 54 percent increase for Black people, and it shows that class still doesn’t necessarily keep Black people from dangerous pollution. With many factories and polluting facilities close to Black communities, the health risks increase, including higher rates of asthma, heart attacks and lowered life expectancy rates. Transitioning to clean, renewable energy will help decrease these risks. Now granted, the Green New Deal doesn’t explicitly say it’s goal is to benefit Black and Brown communities, but it does say it’s goal is “to promote justice and equity by stopping current, preventing future, and repairing historic oppression of indigenous communities, communities of color, migrant communities, deindustrialized communities, depopulated rural communities, the poor, low-income workers, women, the elderly, the unhoused, people with disabilities, and youth…” A.K.A the front line and vulnerable communities, according to the resolution. The New Deal FAQ sheet listed out 15 requirements to adhere to these goals, which you can check out here . So again, should Black and Brown people care about the Green New Deal? Ultimately, yes. But it’ll take a lot more than an announcement and a lengthy fact sheet to get the masses hype. The impact of the Green New Deal will only be felt with further research, accountability and the actions of leaders to get more Black and Brown people invested.

Brittany Hoffner Wet White Bikini of the Day

I don’t know who Brittany Hoffner is, but I am a huge fan of her choices in bikinis. There’s this fetish I’ve had for decades thanks to a friend’s sister at his family pool. I write about it enough, and it basically goes like this….in high school my friend’s sister wore a white bikini to the pool. I saw her full pussy multiple times and either no one told her or she knew and wanted people to see her pusssy…but the whole experience was amazing thanks to it being the late 80s, bush was a thing…=but her bush wasn’t a thing to hide her actual vagina lips giving me jerk off material I used for at least a decade…. So there is a warm place in my heart for see through fabrics….it’s possibly my one true love…maybe what I should have married. I don’t know who Brittany Hoffner but see through bikinis…are our friend. The post Brittany Hoffner Wet White Bikini of the Day appeared first on DrunkenStepFather.com .

Lindsay Lohan’s Beach Club Recap: Lindsay Criticizes Cast For Violent Behavior!

Lindsay means business on her new show Lindsay Lohan’s Beach Club which hit MTV only a few weeks ago. The 32-year-old is attempting to make a career comeback, not by acting, singing or politics, but this time by expanding her new business empire with the launch of ‘Lohan Beach House’ in Mykonos, Greece .  Throughout the show, Lindsay manages 8 American wannabes ambassadors hired to work for the club and its restaurant. It is with her pretentious team’s hard work and cooperation that Lindsay’s vision “can come to life,” according to MTV. Lindsay, who oversees and is in charge of everything that goes down at the club, went into complete boss mode on Monday night’s episode.  And not because someone spilled a drink or messed up a salmon order.  But, because a physical altercation broke out between two costars!  We all know how reality TV works, and we are not shocked by some violent, petty fights here and there. But, as for the “reformed” child star, she wasn’t going to stand one second of it. In case you missed it…which was probably because of  The Bachelor , Jonitta smacked housemate Gabi after tension between the two elevated.  And Lindsay was not impressed. After being a survivor of abuse herself, she no longer tolerates any negative or violent behavior.  Especially from women and especially when they are representing her “brand.” Lindsay sat the ladies down to have a conversation about how she can relate and knows what it feels like to be angry, especially “in the past” after a drink or two. According to toofab , Lindsay is referring to her ex-boyfriend who allegedly assaulted her on the same beach 2 years ago.  “I’m gonna try talking about this, to overcome all the stuff I was put through in that one moment means a lot to me and I sure as hell don’t want to send someone else home when you guys have so much potential and a great opportunity,” Lindsay says while tearing up.  She then clearly expressed that “another woman cannot hit another woman. Especially with what we are going through in the world these days, they should be doing the opposite. Coming together and saying he’s not worth it.” Wow, I’m almost convinced that the mess that was once Lindsay Lohan may actually be gone .  Thanks to Lindsay’s charitable conversation, the two girls made up and accepted their differences. For now.  After settling the girl’s mindless drama, Lindsay pulled in the entire cast where she continued to call out every single one of them for not protecting each other.  “The last thing we can do is hate on each other,” she added.  Lindsay then went on to share a story about how she had her attitude checked on set back in the day. *thanks the producers for keeping the show somewhat interesting*  “I was working with a woman and I was late to set one day on one of my movies. I was I think 30 minutes late and I was livid because she made a whole issue of it, stomping on set,” she said.  “I’m not gonna say who it is, but it put me in my place. Don’t be 30 minutes late.” Toofab spills that the story was likely about Georgia Rule , where Lohan and Jane Fonda’s relationship suffered due to disagreements on set, aka…tardiness.  Lindsay considered firing the girls at first for their immature behavior but decided to turn to Oprah to seek advice on how to handle the situation. Yes, I said Oprah. And yes, Lindsay should have gone to her years ago for some advice.  The Parent Trap star then made the decision to keep the girls. But to scare them a little and keep them on their toes she hired two new servers, Kyle and “The Challenge” alum Kailah Casillas. The rest of the episode included moments of cast members Mike and May fighting over doing the dishes, and Sarah and Brent going at it again due to jealousy issues. The episode concluded with Lindsay assessing her employees, calling May “lazy” and Jules “useless.” Looks like someone may be getting the boot here soon. Watch next week’s episode to enjoy some more kitchen fights and Lindsay’s incredible dance moves.  The show airs on Mondays 10/9c on MTV. Team Antigua Becomes First All-Black Women’s Rowing Team To Cross Atlantic Ocean

Read more:

B lack women are displaying excellence in all fields, especially in the realm of sports. A group of women from Antigua recently hit a major milestone by becoming the first all-Black women’s rowing team to cross the Atlantic Ocean, Black Enterprise reported. Meet the first all-black women’s rowing team to cross the Atlantic Ocean. https://t.co/BHM4a2X4aN — Black Enterprise (@blackenterprise) February 1, 2019 The women—dubbed Team Antigua-The Island Girls—competed in the Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge. The competition is a premier event in ocean rowing. The team—which included Kevinia Francis , Christal Clashing , Elvira Bell , and Samara Emmanuel —embarked on their journey on December 12 in the Canary Islands and returned to Antigua at the end of January. Their journey was nothing short of grueling but the women pushed through and persevered. The entire trip was a total of 3,000 miles and they dealt with sea sickness and complications with their boat. Each woman brought their vast athletic experience to the competition. Francis was known for playing a handful of sports including track-and-field, basketball and cycling, Clashing is a former Olympian who became the first woman swimmer to represent Antigua and Barbuda at the Olympics, Bell is a swim instructor, and Emmanuel’s experience as a sailor spans over a decade. Junella King —a 17-year-old who served as an alternate for the team—worked as a sailing instructor. The competition was about more than rowing, the focus was on social good as well. The team competed to raise $150,000 for a charity called Cottage of Hope which focuses on providing shelter for orphaned girls who experience abuse. The women received a warm welcome home, as the government closed schools and other institutions early so that locals could congratulate the team. “While this is the third time a team from Antigua and Barbuda has entered the Challenge, we are truly proud that the first all-black female team to row the Atlantic is comprised of four courageous Antiguan women,” Charles Fernandez , Antigua and Barbuda Minister of Tourism, told Caribbean Life News . “This is history in the making, and it will truly be a momentous occasion for Antigua and Barbuda.” SEE ALSO: Hampton University Becomes First HBCU To Have Women’s Triathlon Team Tennis Star Naomi Osaka Slated To Ink Adidas’ Biggest Deal With A Woman Athlete [ione_media_gallery src=”https://newsone.com” id=”3845042″ overlay=”true”]
