Willem Dafoe Joins Lars Von Trier’s Nymphomaniac; Nicole Kidman Heads Out

Charlotte Gainsbourg and Willem Dafoe played a crazily estranged couple in Lars von Trier ‘s erotic/thriller/surreal Antichrist in 2009. And now, Dafoe is set to return to Von Trier’s latest, Nymphomaniac along with Gainsbourg, Shia LaBeouf , Christian Slater , Stellan Skarsgard and Uma Thurman . Others are joining the cast, while one big name has pulled out. Nicole Kidman had been rumored as another possible addition to the cast, but she has more regal obligations and cannot join, according to THR. Kidman, who played the lead role in von Trier’s Dogville is currently busy playing Grace Kelly in Olivier Dahan’s Grace of Monaco . Dafoe, meanwhile, will play a supporting role in the two-part erotic Nymphomaniac , which will be released in both a hardcore and soft core version. Dafoe is currently in Hamburg, starring in Anton Corbijn’s drama A Most Wanted Man . Von Trier veteran Udo Kier, who has taken part in a number of von Trier’s films including his most recent Melancholia has also joined the cast along with French actor Jean-Marc Barr ( Dogville ), Caroline Goodall ( Schindler’s List ), Kate Ashfield ( Shaun of the Dead ), Saskia Reeves ( Butterfly Kiss ) and Danish actor Omar Shargawi ( R ). In the film, Gainsbourg stars as Jo, a self-described nymphomaniac who reveals her story to an older bachelor played by Stellan Skarsgard. Rumors have flown over the summer whether named actors would take part in sexually explicit scenes, though porn-star “stand-ins” have also been rumored to be engaged on camera. Shia LaBeouf fueled the rumor when he said he was ready to “go all the way” in Nymphomaniac . [ Source: THR ]

The Real Housewives of New York City Recap: Don’t Make Room For Daddy

The Real Housewives of New York City returns this week but “Don’t Make Room For Daddy” as he inserts himself in the middle of the viper’s nest. We recap the venomous name calling and vicious mean girl attacks in our THG +/- review. I can’t believe Aviva’s father, George is back yet again.  Now we get to hear about his 20 something girlfriend and watch him shop for enhancement supplements to try and keep up with her.  He even throws in an incest joke for good measure.  Minus 20 .   George is a sleazy old man.  I tend to feel as though I need a shower after George makes an appearance.   Across town, Sonja’s settlement meeting didn’t go so well.  Talk about contentious.  Her ex won’t even sit in a room with her.  Damn, that’s harsh. But Sonja’s expectations about reconnecting with her ex as a friend were a pipe dream.  At least she’s waking up to reality. Plus 12. Sonja turns to LuAnn.  She needs someone who knows what divorce is like and knows how to move forward.  I feel for Sonja but listening to her whine about having to store her expensive paintings and sell her multi-million dollar homes gets old fast.  Minus 10. Supposedly Ramona called Harry, Aviva’s ex asking inappropriate questions?  What questions?  Oh come on.  We must know. Apparently she was asking him about Aviva’s many phobias.  Why would Ramona do that?  Minus 9.   She simply doesn’t know when to leave it alone. That phone call leads to a lunch date between Aviva and Ramona that goes even worse than the meeting between Aviva and Sonja. Aviva tells Ramona she’s disgusted with her.  Disgusted seems to be Aviva’s new favorite word.  I’d consider a drinking game but I’m certain Aviva would be disgusted by that too. Minus 8 for killing my fun. Then things gets strange.  Aviva claims she saw Ramona and Sonja sleeping together naked and spooning.  OK, that’s weird but what’s even weirder is Aviva watching them do it.  Minus 10.   Ew. Aviva complains that these 50 something women were drinking and dancing on table tops while on vacation.  She’s got a real problem with the ladies letting loose and going a little girls gone wild on vacation.  Why does it bother her so much? The funniest moment was when Aviva tells Ramona she needs to reevaluate her friendship with Sonja because friends don’t let friends drive drunk.  Ramona’s response…who was driving on the island?  Plus 7 . Ramona calls Aviva a viper and tells her she ruined the trip. I can’t argue with that.  Everyone was having a great time until Aviva showed up. Both of these women have issues but Aviva’s got a vicious mean streak and loves to tell other people why they’re wrong.  Her arrogance and condescension is tiring.  Minus 11 .   And just when you think things can’t get any worse, George show’s up.  Ramona hosts a domestic abuse fundraiser and Aviva has the good sense not to show.  Unfortunately she sends her father.   What a train wreck.  George accuses Ramona of making fun of his daughter’s phobias and demands an apology.   To be honest, Ramona handled it with more grace than I expected.  She simply thanked George for coming, asked him not to get in the middle of this and said this wasn’t the time or place to discuss it.  Plus 13 .   But George doesn’t know how to take a hint.  He keeps referring to Aviva as his child that he has to protect.  Minus 9 .  She’s a grown woman who can fight her own battles.  Even Aviva’s own father sees her as the victim.  It seems to be her lifetime theme. George keeps insisting on an apology from both Ramona and Sonja.  It’s kind of sad and pathetic.  He just won’t leave but he does get distracted from his mission long enough to hit on Carole.   As he’s escorted out he calls the ladies trailer turds.  I guess we now know where Aviva got her penchant for name calling. Tune in next week for the season finale where I’m sure it will all hit the fan, once again. Episode total = -45!           Season total = -300!

The Voice Recap: Dez Duron is One Good-Looking Dude!

The Voice Season 3 teams are almost set, which is probably a good thing as the blind auditions lose a little bit of their luster (a little bit) by the third week, which we’re in now. That said, they’re still fun. Let’s break down last night’s by team… Dez Duron – Sara Smile (The Voice Blind Audition) Team Christina Aguilera Her body turned around for Dez Duron (above, who returned from last season’s near-miss and advanced this year with his take on “Sara Smile.” That IS a good-looking dude, Blake! Latin singer Laura Vivas and Jordan Pruitt, who used to tour with Miley Cyrus, Vanessa Hudgens and the Cheetah Girls, made the team next. Take a look at Jordan’s effort: Jordan Pruitt – The One That Got Away (The Voice Blind Audition) Team Blake Shelton Michaela Paige, Ryan Jirovec, and Lelia Broussard made Team Blake, as did Suzanna Choffel, but only the latter’s sultry version of “Landslide” got much air time. Here’s why: Suzanna Choffel – Landslide (The Voice Blind Audition) Blake added to his team again with Terisa Griffin, whose “Someone Like You” was great, and got Christina to turn around too … albeit more reluctantly than Shelton: Terisa Griffin – Someone Like You (The Voice Blind Audition) Team Adam Levine The Maroon 5 frontman beat out Cee Lo and Xtina for Michelle Brooks-Thompson, whose take on “Proud Mary” established her as not just a decent singer but a real contender. Michelle Brooks-Thompson – Proud Mary (The Voice Blind Audition) Brandon Mahone, who sang “I Wish It Would Rain,” made a strong choice of song and delivered a powerful performance of it to boot. Take a look below … Brandon Mahone – I Wish It Would Rain (The Voice Blind Audition) Team Cee Lo Green Cee Lo’s two new additions were unwanted by the others, as usual. Diego Val, a singer from Peru who battled back from a horrible disease, wins story of the night: Diego Val – Animal (The Voice Blind Audition) Alexis Marceaux of New Orleans also wowed Cee Lo with her rendition of “Go Your Own Way” … he seemed surprised no one else turned around for it! Alexis Marceaux – Go Your Own Way (The Voice Blind Audition) Whose team do you think is shaping up the best? Who was your favorite tonight – both contestants and judges? It may only be a guest-starring stint, but you still may need to be worried, Liam Hemsworth . Once a young girl is in bed with Ashton Kutcher, it’s often all over. Bristol Palin did not earn one of the top scores on the season premiere of Dancing With the Stars. Dirty Soap Season Finale Recap: Let’s Go Camping and Talk About Relationships!

On the season finale of Dirty Soap, Fary tried to set Nadia Bjorlin up with a guy, JP and Farah hit a turning point in their relationship, and everyone went camping. Kelly Monaco, meanwhile, prepares for life after General Hospital – funny that this is a new reality show about a declining genre – by better building up her brand. Whatever that means. She’s trying to branch out, let’s just leave it at that. Also, Kirsten Storms (pictured) is still MIA, but not forgotten. Get well girl. Tension between John-Paul Lavoisier and Farah Fath begins early when he says, at a group dinner, that he will never wear a wedding ring. Passive-aggressive much? Farah gets upset, and asks if he’s scared to move out to L.A. with her. He says she is the only reason he would move there, but still seems willing to take the plunge. Brandon Beemer plans a fun, totally non-scripted-by-E! camping trip for the gang to attend. Everyone, sans Kirsten of course, sets up camp near the beach to chill. There, Farah’s friend Danny asks Nadia about her mom and Brandon, and if her mother Fary is one of the reasons why she and Brandon aren’t already married. She says yes, basically, and he tells her to live life for her, no one else. Farah talks with Jenna about being career oriented and managing work and family life. Kelly Monaco interjects, saying she would love to be a mother one day. Kelly, of course, never married her ex after a 17-year relationship. She says while she firmly believes in commitment, it’s not a necessity to have a piece of paper. The men, meanwhile, are all on Brandon’s side. The Beemer admits he fears their relationship is not going to work out if Nadia believes anything that Fary says. Farah basically just wants to know if JP will marry her. He’s not saying. Then the elephant in the room comes to visit around the fire. The future of daytime TV is tepid at best and the gang does not know what lies ahead for them. Talk then turns to Kirsten Storms. girl who took over for Kirsten on General Hospital is good, but she’s not Kirsten. No word on her health. They toast her honor. Danny stars meddling, getting on JP for not popping the question, then riling up Farah while she’s drunk and making her cry over the prospect of JP not proposing. Good friend right there. He does get them to talk, however. JP says he wants to spend his life with her and all that, but she wants him to tell her flat out if he doesn’t want to get married. JP’s response? He just wants to hang out. Wrong answer. Farah tells him she’s going to break up with him. JP doesn’t want to, but it looks like he has no choice. The next morning, he comes around and decides life without her is too sad to risk losing her over this. He says one day they will get married. She’s like, thrilled. Kelly meets a guy to help her expand her brand. She begins to educate herself on clothing lines and meets with a designer at a convention whose line she may rep. Then the most awkward moment of all time. Nadia meets Fary for lunch and finds that her mom has brought Fernando along to meet her. She’s being set up. Nadia texts Brandon to meet them as Fary talks Fernando up. He starts flirting with Nadia pretty good too. But then Brandon shows up, much to Fary’s chagrin. Needless to say, lunch ends abruptly. Brandon and Nadia talk about how to handle this going forward, and he’s clearly thrown off by it, but they’re still okay. This woman clearly needs to be cut off – no one with any respect for their kid treats them like that – but we’ll see if they’ve got the guts to stand up to her. And there you have it. Until next season, hopefully … What did you think of the season finale of Dirty Soap? And the season as a whole? Who are your favorites and least favorites? Comment below!
