The Aftermath On “Love And Hip Hop” [RECAP]

Thank God last night was a calm episode of “Love and Hip Hop.” I don’t know if I could take another beat down like last week! This week’s episode was more like the “aftermath” of the Chrissy VS Kimbella brawl that we saw on last week’s episode and we got to understand just why Chrissy popped off on Kimbella in the first place. Chrissy wakes up the next morning after the fight with a headache because 1. Kimbella pulled out Chrissy’s clip on track and 2. She feels like she’s caused a big problem between Jimmy and Juelz. After telling Jimmy what happened between her and Juelz baby momma, she feels a little better that is until she realizes that Jimmy really isn’t paying her story too much attention. SMH. The girls get together to try and talk about what to do next with Chrissy and Kimbella and when Yandy asks everyone why they thought Chrissy was so angry with Kimbella, no one seemed to have a valid answer except the fact that she was out of line. Kimbella still seemed clueless as to where she went wrong after telling Emily that she “dated” Fabolous three years ago, and couldn’t understand why Chrissy would just pounce on her like that, especially since their men are like “brothers”. Yandy feels like she’s in a bad position considering that Chrissy and Kimbella are both like her sisters and Jimmy and Juelz are her clients, and she can’t mess up her money, because that’s the most important thing here, right? Kimbella and Emily decide to sit down and try to hash things out. Kimbella explains to Emily that she was unaware of her and Fabolous’ relationship when they supposedly “dated” but Emily makes it clear to her that they didn’t actually date, unless she considers one night after the club a date (ouch). Their meeting goes unresolved, and the two go their separate ways. The girls later all attend Somaya’s performance, which I won’t speak too much on and after realizing that Somaya’s pants were unbuttoned and her goodies were exposed the whole time, they were all pretty much over Somaya and her dreams of being a rapper, myself included. The DJ at the club so conveniently played Mama Jones’ single “Psychotic” and Yandy got up and did a little two-step which set Chrissy off, again. Now as much as I like Mama Jones’s single (don’t judge me), even I know now to act like I like it when Chrissy is in the room. I mean Yandy do you really want a red bottom to your skull like Kimbella? I don’t think so… Did Kimbella Really Deserve That Beatdown From Chrissy On “Love & Hip Hop 2″? Fred The Godson Just Trying To ‘Win’ For New York

Bronx MC talks to Mixtape Daily about inspiration for his aptly titled City of God tape. By Rob Markman Fred the Godson Photo: MTV News Main Pick Headliners : Fred the Godson and DJ Drama Representing : Bronx, New York Mixtape : City of God Real Spit : Fred the Godson makes a strong proclamation for a relative newcomer to rap on his new City of God mixtape: “You can’t rank my skill/ I told Drama that this would be one of the most lyrical Gangsta Grillz.” But the Bronx, New York, MC backs up his boast with bullying bars. Big Bronx, as Fred’s also known, sets a hell of a tone on the tape’s intro, and exercising his lyrical dominance isn’t the only promise he makes. Over a subdued piano track, Fred the God also pledges to return New York to its rap prominence. “We chose for the mixtape to be called City of God because of ‘City of God’ the movie — it’s like a takeover,” Fred told Mixtape Daily of drawing inspiration from the 2002 Rio de Janeiro-set film. Making a play on the title of the flick and his rap moniker, Fred’s confidence in his own ability is apparent throughout the 19-track mixtape. “That’s why we went with that name, and I’m just here to try to win New York, to try to bring New York back in general,” he said. Fred’s formula is simple: mix dramatic, banging beats with witty punchlines and a hustler’s ambition, then add the occasional notable feature and voila, you have one of the hardest mixtapes of 2011. On “Gettin’ Money Pt. II,” Fred collaborates with Meek Mill and Cory Gunz over a menacing track guided by a Diddy-laced hook. “Doves Fly” finds Fred alongside G.O.O.D. Music’s Pusha T on a cocaine-themed free-for-all. “What up Pusha? Tell Malice I got that Khaled/ The best, send a fiend to the moon — Alice,” Fred spits while Pusha Ton offers, “Every block another notch up on my r

Audrina Patridge’s Big Tanned Talents

There were all kinds of really talented women at the American Music Awards last night, from Katy Perry to Taylor Swift , and then there was Audrina Patridge . Here she is all tarted up on the red carpet showing off a whole lot of skin. I guess she’s got her own set of talents, soft, tanned, squeezable man-made talents. Those things are just perfect, they deserve an award of their own. Most motor-boatable breasts on a reality TV star. Although Adrianne Curry might give her a run for her money.

Nicki Minaj, Donatella Explain Hip-Hop’s Versace Obsession

Minaj, the new face of Versace for H&M, and the fashion icon chat with MTV News about brand’s enduring appeal. By Rebecca Thomas Nicki Minaj Photo: MTV News NEW YORK — Back in the late ’90s, Versace was to the Bad Boy camp what Supreme is to Odd Future — nothing less than a uniform. Of course, whereas Tyler and crew can set up shop at the Los Angeles outpost, the ultra high-end Italian label hadn’t exactly been marketing to new-money rappers from the ‘hood. But that didn’t ruin budding mogul Sean Combs ‘ (then Puff Daddy) appetite for the couture line. Espousing his “ghetto fabulous” ethos, Combs outfitted his roster in the colorful prints with those gold Madusa details, and an enduring hip-hop love affair was born. When MTV News heard that Nicki Minaj had teamed up with the house of Versace as they rolled out a collection for fast-fashion retailer H&M, we couldn’t wait to ask the Harajuku Barbie what the brand meant to her. We caught up with her on the red carpet of the launch last week, and it turned out one of Bedford-Stuyvesant’s finest was on her mind. “We can remember Biggie Smalls talking about Versace,” Nicki, dressed in a multicolor beaded pantsuit topped with a palm-frond accented wig, told us about the late Bad Boy MC. “It’s something that as a little girl, growing up in hip-hop, you never really think you’ll get a chance to — I never thought I’d get to model for Versace, you know what I mean?” Although Versace shades quickly became a status accessory among rising rappers in rap’s glossy, shiny-suit era, it was Diddy and Big who truly cemented the brand’s place, name-checking it in songs like the “One More Chance” remix and J.U.N.I.O.R. Mafia’s “Get Money” ( My Mo-schi-no ho, my Versace hottie, Big rapped on the Lil’ Kim collabo). Indeed, Biggie and Puff donned matching silk Versace shirts for ’97’s “Hypnotize” video, which would become the final visual offering from the late rapper. “It’s just a big deal because they’ve been clothing the hip-hop generation for a very, very long time,” Nicki added about the line founded in the late 1970s by Gianni Versace. “Whether we could afford it or not, we wanted it.” Fashion icon (and sister of the late Gianni) Donatella Versace told MTV News she was flattered by how right-now rappers and pop stars like Lady Gaga , Big Sean and “fantastic” Nicki continue to embrace the brand. And the platinum-blond designer had a theory about why. “I feel all the [artists like Gaga and Sean] … are people who like to dare and to take risks, and [it’s the same] in fashion so that combination works,” Versace said. Earlier this summer, Gaga announced to a U.K. style site that she planned to feed her fashionable fixation by wearing “only Versace for, like, the next two months.” Around the same time, G.O.O.D. Music breakout star Big Sean ordered up vintage Versace threads and shades on the Hype Williams set of his sexy “Marvin & Chardonnay” vid. “If we gonna have Versaces, it’s gonna be the OG Medusa-head Versace,” he insisted. Donatella could clearly sense nostalgia was in bloom. “It’s a moment that I felt was the right moment,” she said of launching the mass collection. “It’s a lot of requests for Versace iconic pieces like printed shirts, and everybody is doing homage to Versace so I decided to give them the real thing to H&M, to the kids!” she smiled. Is Common The New King Of All Media? [EXCLUSIVE]

See original here:

Lonnie Rashid Lynn, Jr.  has turned multitasking into an art form. One day he is sitting on a panel with Robin Williams , Elijah Wood and Hank Azaria trading jokes about their frosty, eco-friendly new movie Happy Feet 2 . The next day the artist more commonly known as…Common… is in the studio finishing up his ninth album, The Dreamer The Believer . Between all of this he is promoting his memoirs “One Day It’ll All Make Sense” and a new TV Show, “Hell On Wheels”, where he plays a freed slave working on the railroads in the 1800s. More than Common…Extraordinary! How does someone keep all of these disparate interests straight in their head, especially coming from an industry that places a premium on being “real”? “You go to those different places inside of you,” Common tells TheUrbandaily.com between bites of his lunch at The Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles. “I think a lot of us as human beings express these different qualities; love, anger, fear. All those things…joy. The way I was raised I came up seeing the streets but I was also educated in private school. So I’ve been able to express myself in different ways.” The cliche is that luck favors the prepared but it’s still an impressive feat to have a book, an album, a movie and a television series coming out in the same quarter. However, Common is humble about the whole convergence, chalking it up to an unseen hand at work that is certainly not the illuminati. “Everything is happening when it’s supposed to,” he says. “It’s God’s divine order that all this came out at the same time. I did Happy Feet 2 a year and some ago. The album was supposed to come out earlier and it’s coming out in December. I thank God for the way people are reading the book and now I’m on a panel with Robin Williams and Elijah Wood. This is what I do and I love it.” In Happy Feet 2 Common voices a penguin named Seymour. His son Atticus is a little b-boy that would give Chilly Willy a run for his money on the mic.  With this role Common joined a growing list of rappers voicing cartoons like Queen Latifah , Fat Joe and Xzibi t all because a previous opportunity fell through. “[Director] George Miller and I were going to work on J ustice League for Warner Brothers,” he explains. “It didn’t go through but he and I built a good relationship and I hold him in a high regard. I saw Happy Feet and thought it was really fresh. I was impressed and loved it. He called me and said he wanted me to [voice] this character in Happy Feet 2 and I said I’d love to. I haven’t been part of any films where the whole family could go and enjoy it.  This was my first opportunity to do animated voice over work. It was incredible.” Common, who is the father of a 14-year-old girl has personal experience with playing a protective dad. “She was into it but she’s in her teenage stage now. She wanted to go see The Ides Of March , ” he says with a laugh. “But she was happy that I was  a part of the film. Just the other day we were riding around and she said this is everywhere.” Common may have better luck getting her to tune into his AMC series, “Hell On Wheels”.  In the small screen Western Common plays Elam Ferguson, a biracial ex-slave working on the Union Pacific Railroad. “‘Hell on Wheels’ is an incredible show because it deals with all these different people of different cultures and backgrounds coming together to build this railroad,” he shares.  “It’s the American dream being built and [it shows] how some people relate. Some get a long, some don’t, it’s like a reflection of America today. My character is real strong. It’s a character you haven’t seen depicted in film or TV from a Black person in that era. Maybe Denzel in Glory , but it’s still a little different.” All of these many moods seem to manifest themselves on Common’s new album, and rightfully so. On the combative “So Sweet” he boasts lines like “Hip-Hop’s master cleanse and I’m gonna get my sh*t off…”, which is the antithesis of the more ethereal “ Blue Sky.” But like his many outlets in the world of entertainment there are many sides to Common waiting to be revealed. “Doing a song like ‘Sweet’ was just me too, and being able to go in my imagination and be a penguin is also an aspect of my creativity. I always feel proud to represent hip-hop in whatever world we go to.” Happy  Feet 2 will be in theaters on Friday November 18th. Cash Money Is An Army: 10 Lil Wayne Lyrical References To The Armed Services

When B.G. stated, “Cash Money is an Army, better yet a Navy” on the track “Cash Money is an Army,” in 1999, we’re thinking Lil Wayne missed the memo that he was speaking figuratively. Since then, we’ve heard enough armed forces talk in Wayne’s rhymes to make Sergeant Slaughter blush. If we didn’t know any better, we’d think Birdman Jr. had been through basic training and served a couple of tours in Iraq. Kristin Cavallari Showing Off Legs of the Day

Here are some pictures of everything good that could possibly work out for Kristin Cavallari…you know go right for her…. ike the wind blowing up her little skirt like she hoped it would when she weared her skirt… to give her a second wind…another reason for people to write about her, a panty flash that carries her for another month of semi irrelevance…as she fades into obscurity…… Maybe it feels like she’s had her moment of glory that is totally undeserved….that she scammed us….that this fame no matter how low level from doing nothing and the money in her bank from it was enough….I mean if you consider being on the worst show on TV nothing…which I don’t…I consider it a real something…a something that needs to be punished for the pollution it caused in our lives…. But unfortunately, I like her legs and more importantly, have no authority to punish her, so I’ll just post the pics.
