The Game Shoots Apocalyptic Video For ‘Red Nation’

‘It was crazy, man,’ rapper says of Los Angeles shoot with director Parris. By Matt Elias The Game on the set of “Red Nation” Photo: MTV News On Tuesday night, underneath the 4th Street Bridge in downtown Los Angeles, the Game stood surrounded by smoldering dirt and flashing red lights. Smoke billowed in the background and road flares flickered brightly. It wasn’t the scene of an accident, but the post-apocalyptic set for Game’s music video “Red Nation,” the lead single from his long-awaited R.E.D. Album. “We shot this real rebel scene. I was over there in a bunch of dirt with rocks, and behind the gate were a bunch of guys I couldn’t see, looking all menacing and scary and [with] bats and sticks and poles,” Game told MTV News on the set. “And that was kinda crazy, man. I was in sort of like an army fatigue thing, doing my thing. But it was fun, man, the first shot — had a lot of fun, got real sweaty ’cause I was jumping around, man. A lotta dust and smoke — it was crazy, man.” The clip is helmed by director Parris, whose recent work includes Enrique Iglesias’ “Tonight (I’m Lovin’ You)” and Diddy-Dirty Money’s “Angels.” The track features a collaboration with Lil Wayne and a familiar sample: Zombie Nation’s club classic “Kernkraft 400.” The West Coast rapper was sporting a maroon Mohawk, and while the hairdo is new, his approach to making music videos hasn’t changed. “You know what the funny thing is about the video treatment is that I just go as they tell me — I never read it,” Game said. “And just so you know, I ain’t never read a video treatment for none of my videos. I kinda just show up, I put in whatever the stylists got picked out for me, and then I go meet the director — usually for the first time — and we kind of just go with the flow.” Stay tuned to MTV News for more from our set visit with the Game, along with more details on The R.E.D. Mary J. Blige Announces My Life Sequel Release Date

Follow-up to MJB’s seminal disc, My Life II, The Story Continues, is set to drop September 20. By Alvin Blanco Mary J. Blige Photo: Brian Ach/ WireImage Fans can mark September 20 as the day that Mary J. Blige returns with her 11th album, My Life II, The Story Continues. By the time of the album’s release — a sequel to Blige’s triple-platinum My Life album — it will be almost two years since the Queen of Hip-Hop/R&B delivered her last project, Stronger With Each Tear. “From me to you, My Life II … our journey together continues in this life,” Blige said in a statement. “It’s a gift to be able to relate and identify with my fans at all times. This album is a reflection of the times and lives of people all around me.” Blige’s sophisticated and sample-driven My Life was released in 1994, and was executive-produced by Sean “Diddy” Combs, who was then going by Puff Daddy. And it’s probably no coincidence that Diddy is featured on the sequel’s lead single, “Someone to Love Me (Naked),” which also features a verse from Lil Wayne. The single’s groove is courtesy of Wyclef Jean’s cousin, the accomplished producer Jerry “Wonder” Duplessis. Other notable producers set to contribute to Blige’s forthcoming album include Kanye West, Stargate (Wiz Khalifa’s “Black and Yellow”) and Swizz Beatz. The original version of “Someone to Love Me” appeared on Diddy-Dirty Money’s Last Train to Paris. The version with Blige on it dropped at the top of the year and, at the time, it was thought to be just a remix. But a mastered version is available now on iTunes and although Blige tweeted that the Collin Tilley-directed video would debut April 8, the clip began making the Internet rounds on Monday. Blige has also been cast in the big-screen adaptation of the Broadway musical “Rock of Ages,” which is set to star Tom Cruise, Alec Baldwin and Diego Boneta. Related Artists Mary J. Blige

Lady Gaga To Donate ‘Born This Way’ Country Remix’s Proceeds To Charity

Gaga is giving some proceeds earned from the just-released “Country Road Version” of her hit song to the gay-advocacy group GLSEN. By Jocelyn Vena Lady Gaga Photo: Kevin Winter/ Getty Images Late last month, Lady Gaga unveiled a guitar-searing, harmonica-infused, countrified version of her smash hit single, “Born This Way,” via her Twitter account. Ten days after its debut, Gaga has officially released the track, and will donate some of the proceeds from the tune to charity. A portion of the money earned from sales of “Born This Way (Country Road Version)” will go to the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network (GLSEN), which, according to the organization’s website, “strives to assure that each member of every school community is valued and respected regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity/expression.” The country remix of the hit song, which was co-produced by Gaga and Fernando Garibay, boasts some new lyrics that play up the track’s twangy influences. Over picked mandolin accompaniment, Gaga sings, “If I wanna make it country, baby, it’s OK/ ‘Cause I was born, I was born, I was born this way/ From London, Paris, Japan back to USA/ I was born on the road, I was born to be brave.” In February, during a chat on Gayle King’s talk show, Gaga confirmed that there would be two videos for “Born This Way.” The Nick Knight-directed, sci-fi-influenced clip for the song’s original version dropped at the tail end of February. Meanwhile, there’s no word when or if Gaga will ever release a video for the “stripped-down” country version of the track considering she just wrapped up work on her clip for Born This Way ‘s second single, “Judas.” Do you plan to buy “Born This Way (Country Road Version)”? Kyle Richards: Leaving The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills?

Last month, we reported that The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills would be back for a second season, with the whole cast returning for all the fun. Might the second half of that statement have been premature? Kyle Richards, a.k.a. the gorgeous, normal and happy one (relatively speaking) is now hinting at an early exit from the Bravo franchise, according to EW . The sister of co-star Kim Richards and aunt to Paris and Nicky Hilton isn’t confirming a departure just yet, but isn’t sure she’ll be back on it either. “The show has been picked up for a second season, but I’m not sure if I’m coming back yet,” she said, sending chills through the spines of fans. While rumors about new cast members (Faye Resnick, Ayda Field ) have been flying, Bravo is keeping mum on cast moves and possible additions. “The only thing we’ve announced is that The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills is coming back for a second season,” a rep for the network told EW . Would Kyle’s potential absence make you less likely to watch? Is she your favorite, or do you tune in to watch the train wreck that is Camille?

Charlie Sheen Ticket Sales Tanking Hard

Charlie Sheen “plays” Cleveland tonight. Tickets are still available. A lot of them. The first show of his Torpedo of Truth tour was such a historic debacle , a huge number of people dumped tickets to future dates onto the secondary market. Also, a large number of tickets remain unsold at all, even after Sheen redeemed himself (sort of) with a better-received Chicago performance (below). Sheen Live Tour – Torpedoes of Truth According to online exchanges, the average ticket to Sheen’s upcoming Radio City Music Hall date went for between $125-$150 last week on its website. Yesterday, that average sale price sank to $80. Today, $50. An Orchestra seat at Radio City can now be had for as little as $24, far, far below face value. Not that Sheen likely cares. “I already got your money, dude,” he told a Detroit fan who booed him. “You paid your hard-earned money without knowing what this show was about.” At least fewer people will be making that mistake now.
