Is Emily Maynard Engaged?

As rumors swirl about the ending of The Bachelorette’s eighth season, one celebrity gossip magazine boldly proclaims that Emily Maynard is in fact engaged. If it’s true … the question is still, to whom? She obviously won’t say, and even The Bachelorette spoilers have been hard to come by this season … though three guys are clearly frontrunners. If Emily is engaged, three guys are probably equal favorites . The previews airing Monday night more or less revealed the final three , with Jef Holm, Sean Lowe and Arie Luyendyk all shown with Emily in Curacao. According to the magazine cover above, Em’s ready for a baby right away – not news if you’ve watched this season – and got a 4-carat rock. ABC is pulling out all the stops these days with Neil Lane. Think she’s really engaged? And if so, who should she pick? No offense, Ryan and Doug, but it’s got to come down to these three, right? Vote on who you think Emily should choose below :

[ Q&BA is a live video chat session I do every weekend, more or less, on Google+ where people can ask me questions about space and astronomy.] I’m very excited about all the news we’re getting of planets orbiting other stars. For Q&BA I got a good question about them: How many exoplanets are there? [Note: the aspect ratio on this video is messed up a bit, like it was on the last one . New Cars 2 Trailer Promises Not to Make You Cry

After three summers in a row of Pixar movies that moved more than half of the audience to tears, the new trailer for Cars 2 seems to more or less guarantee that we’ll be able to leave the tissues at home this time. The plot setup seems even more convoluted in this trailer (something to do with international espionage and…racing), but that doesn’t mean you can’t kick back, relax and enjoy the pretty colors, wink-nudge one-liners and wacky antics of Larry the Cable Guy.

While the three trailers for the alien invasion flick Battle: Los Angeles have shown maybe 70% of Los Angeles being blown to bits, the aliens have remained more or less obscured. Besides the exciting news that Wu-Tang Clan member and martial arts-aficionado RZA’ s Kung Fu film The Man with the Iron Fist was actually beginning production in China, there hasn’t been much to report on the project. The fact that co-writer Eli Roth stepped on as producer along with Quentin Tarantino seemed like a forgone conclusion and the cast of Lucy Liu, Daniel Wu and Byron Mann more or less made sense. But finally, a bombshell of sorts: Russell Crowe appears confirmed to star in the film.

Weekday Vegetarian: A Little Advance Planning to Make an Eggplant Torta

Photo: Kelly Rossiter I arrived home from my cottage last week to find a rather large number of eggplant ready for harvest.I was quite happy with the harvest we had throughout August, and I thought we were more or less done with them. I was a bit surprised to find 5 or 6 ready to eat with another 4 or 5 at a smaller stage and a number of flowers. I imagine that the frost will hit before those flowers come to fruition, but maybe I’ll be lucky and get some more eggplant in October. But for now, I’m thinking about all the ways I can enjoy what I have…. Read the full story on TreeHugger
