Piers Morgan Threatens to Deport Self if U.S. Gun Laws Don’t Change

No need to threaten to deport Piers Morgan over his anti-gun views, America. If things don’t change before long, the CNN anchor will be happy to see himself out. The UK native has been on a rampage of his own since Adam Lanza killed 26 people at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut. His anti-gun rhetoric has gotten almost vitriolic more than once, and 90,000 people signed a petition to deport Morgan for his anti-2nd Amendment views. The 1st Amendment clearly protects his right to criticize the 2nd, of course, so he’s not going anywhere (not that all Brits necessarily want him back). In a new column for The Daily Mail, Morgan argued against those who have said the Sandy Hook tragedy calls for more armed guards in schools, and more guns. “Everyone must be armed. To me, this is a warped, twisted logic that bears no statistical analysis and makes no sense. Do you fight drug addiction with more cocaine?” “Alcoholism with more Jack Daniel’s? Of course not.” Morgan, 47, said he understands citizens should be allowed to own guns to hunt or for self-defense, but says doubling down on them is the opposite of smart. Conversely, he said the U.S. needs to put stricter gun laws into effect as Britain did after a similar massacre at Dunblane Primary School in Scotland in 1996: “The ‘more guns, less crime’ argument is utter nonsense. Britain, after Dunblane, introduced some of the toughest gun laws in Europe, and we average just 35 gun murders a year.” The U.S.? More than 300 times that, with a population five times larger. Added Morgan: “If you don’t change your gun laws to at least try to stop this relentless tidal wave of murderous carnage, then you don’t have to worry about deporting.” “Although I love the country as a second home and one that has treated me incredibly well, I would, as a concerned parent first – and latterly, of a one-year-old daughter who may attend an American elementary school like Sandy Hook in three years’ time – seriously consider deporting myself.” What do you think? Not just about Morgan but about his gun control views? Will more and better laws help? Or are they just ineffective and unconstitutional?   YES. Fewer guns, fewer tragedies! NO. It’s unconstitutional and won’t stop anything! View Poll »

Jessica Alba’s Booty Is The Target

Here’s Jessica Alba shopping at Target, because now that she’s a mom, I’m pretty sure she’s obligated to go there at least once a week. And where else is a girl supposed to get giant armfuls of bows on the cheap? Anyway, luckily Jessica wore her MILF jeans to the store, showing off her awesome booty. But it’s too little, too late, unfortunately. If Jessica really wanted to steal the MILF of the Year award away from Alessandra Ambrosio , she should’ve worn a bikini. » view all 33 photos Related Articles: Jessica Alba Shows Off Her Tramp Stamp And Ass Cleavage Jessica Alba’s Tight Little Body In A Hot Dress Jessica Alba Must Be Going Crazy Jessica Alba Hotness Tease Photos: WENN.com

Alex Morgan Bikini Pictures

I think I might have found my new favorite soccer player: hottie Alex Morgan . I know she won a gold medal at the London Olympics and all, but after seeing these pictures, I think Alex is in the wrong sport. She obviously should be playing beach volleyball instead. Granted, I don’t know if she’s any good, but she definitely has the booty to go pro. Photos: PacificCoastNews

Piers Morgan to Larry Pratt: You’re an Idiot

Piers Morgan’s “interview” with gun rights advocate Larry Pratt grew increasingly heated and even devolved into name-calling Tuesday night on CNN. “You’re an unbelievably stupid man, aren’t you?” Morgan asked Platt. Piers Morgan-Larry Pratt Interview The most, a longtime advocate of more restrictive gun laws, has spoken out strongly in favor of gun control since the Newtown, Conn., shooting Friday. Piers Morgan absolutely went off on guns that day, shortly after 27 victims, including 20 young children, were shot and killed in the horrific tragedy. Last night’s return to the topic ended on an even more bitter note. Morgan hosted Pratt on Tuesday, and the executive director of Gun Owners of America argued that schools would be safer with more guns. Morgan noted America’s “enormous problem” with gun violence and said the U.S. has “the worst rate of gun murder and gun crime of any of the civil countries in this world.” Pratt countered that with the other side of the gun control debate – arguing that laws promote violence because people are unable to defend themselves. Gun bans in other countries, he said, have not lowered crime rates either. Morgan bristled, said that was not true, and basically called Pratt a moron. “It seems to me you are morally obtuse,” Pratt calmly responded. “You seem to prefer being a victim to being able to prevail over the criminal element. I don’t know why you want to be the criminal’s friend.” “What a ridiculous argument,” Piers said. “You have absolutely no coherent argument. You don’t actually give a damn about the murder rate in America.” Morgan ended by calling Pratt an idiot, to which Pratt sarcastically thanked him for the high level of debate; Piers said Pratt is incapable of such a thing. Whose side are you on? Should there be more gun control?   YES. Fewer guns, fewer tragedies! NO. It’s unconstitutional and won’t stop anything! View Poll »

Piers Morgan Gun Control Rant: How Many More Kids Have to Die?!

The gun control debate is on, and it is more heated than ever. In the aftermath of the Connecticut school shooting, CNN’s Piers Morgan absolutely went OFF on guns and gun rights advocates on his program Friday. Wherever you stand on the issue, this is a must-watch: Piers Morgan Gun Control Rant The conversation got heated when Morgan asked “why on Earth” anyone would advocate for more guns, given the unspeakable carnage at Sandy Hook. “If we could suddenly make all guns disappear, I’d have a different position,” replied Steve Dulan of the Michigan Coalition of Responsible Gun Owners. Dulan explained that because firearms last “several human lifetimes with minimal maintenance,” then the only way to stop shooters is with other guns. “This is exactly the argument I’ve been hearing ever since I joined CNN,” replied Morgan, noting that he joined CNN a week before Gabby Giffords was shot. He’s not buying it, to say the least. “The argument I keep hearing is, ‘Well, if everybody else was armed, it wouldn’t happen.’ It’s a load of total hogwash!” Rep. Jerrold Nadler (D-N.Y.), who represents parts of Brooklyn and Manhattan, was also on the show and backed up Morgan’s claims with some statistics. “The proof of the pudding is that in every other industrialized country in the world, other than the United States, they have reasonable gun control laws,” he said. “They have 100 people a year, not 9,000 or 10,000 a year, killed by guns.” Morgan argued that Americans should look to Scotland, where handguns were banned after a 1996 massacre in Dunblane in which 16 schoolchildren were killed. Piers said countless firearms were taken off the street instantly, while gun-rights advocate John Lott responded that Scotland’s murder rate subsequently went up. That sent Morgan through the roof. “There are nearly 12,000 murders a year from guns in this country,” he said. “When are you guys going to focus on that and stop telling me the answer is more guns. It is not the answer!” “How many more kids have to die before you guys say, ‘We want less guns, not more.” Lott fired back, saying “The gun-control laws that you’re pushing have killed people.” The host dismissed Lott’s claim as “a load of nonsense,” and then he REALLY let loose. “I’m so frustrated, so furious, that these kids have been blown away again with legally acquired weapons.” Of Adam Lanza , he said, “Some boy who’s got problems takes his mother’s three weapons, including a ridiculous assault rifle! And goes in a school and kills these kids, “And you guys, the gun lobby still want to tell me the answer is more guns! It is madness!” Is it? You tell us: Time for serious gun control legislation?   YES. Fewer guns, fewer tragedies! NO. It’s unconstitutional and won’t stop anything! View Poll »

Tarantino On Pam Grier In ‘XX’ Retrospective: ‘I Wanted To Be Josef Von Sternberg To Her Dietrich’

If Quentin Tarantino ‘s demonstrative hand gestures don’t distract you too much, here’s an interesting clip in which the Django Unchained director discusses the influence that crime novelist Elmore Leonard had on his formative years as a screenwriter and filmmaker, as well as his appreciation of actress Pam Grier. Rolling Stone posted this exclusive video , which is part of the bonus material included in   Tarantino XX , a 10-disc Blu-Ray box set that collects the eight movies from the first 20 years of his career:   Reservoir Dogs , True Romance, Pulp Fiction , Jackie Brown , both Kill Bill films, Death Proof and Inglourious Basterds . In what appears to be a Film Independent Q&A on Tarantino’s 1997 film Jackie Brown , which was adapted from a Leonard novel, the filmmaker explains that he used to read the writer’s books and “adapt them into movies in my mind,” asking himself: “How would I turn this into a movie?”  He adds that engaging in that mental exercise, “years before I could ever afford to make a movie, really..helped me with my structure.” There’s also a curious moment at the end of the clip where Tarantino talks about wanting “to be Josef von Sternberg” to Pam Grier’s “Dietrich.”  While I appreciate Tarantino’s appreciation of Grier’s talent, I think that line says more about him than her. Von Sternberg made the little known Marlene Dietrich a star when he cast her in The Blue Angel and then worked with her for five more films. Grier was hardly an unknown when Tarantino began working with her. Thanks to her roles in Coffy and Foxy Brown  , Grier was already a cult icon. Tarantino merely reminded us of that. He also didn’t exactly make her a star. [ Rolling Stone ] Follow Frank DiGiacomo on Twitter. Follow Movieline on Twitter.

Kurt Cobain Documentary In The Works Blessed By Courtney Love

Now it’s Courtney Love ‘s turn to tell her story about her husband Kurt Cobain and she’s turning to a medium she knows well, even if it has at times not been to her liking. The Hole musician has approached filmmaker Brett Morgan to do a Cobain documentary, a project that has been under discussion since 2007. “Courtney is the one that brought me into this,” said Morgan, whose Rolling Stones doc Crossfire Hurricane premiered at the BFI London Film Festival last month. “We’ve been trying to find the right time to put tho film together and the time is now.” Morgan, who spoke to the New York Post said they’re eyeing a 2014 release. Rumors swirled that a Broadway musical based on the Nirvana catalogue recently when once close Britney Spears protégé Sam Lufti testified under oath that he and Love were working on a possible stage or motion picture project based on the grunge artist who died of a self-inflicted gunshot in 1994. “There will be no musical,” Love later told The Observer. “Sometimes it’s best just to leave things alone.” Nevertheless, a doc is underway at least for now, and it will take the form of a “third-person autobiography,” Morgan said. “[As] if Kurt was around and making a film about his life…Kurt was not only an amazing songwriter and musician, he was an incredible artist and film-maker.” Kurt Cobain left behind a wealth of recordings even beyond his music, some of which played out in a 2006 documentary, Kurt Cobain About a Son by AJ Schnack, which Love did not sanction. Cobain and Love were both the subjects in the 1998 doc Kurt & Courtney by Nick Broomfield, which Love allegedly tried to axe from the Sundance Film Festival ahead of its premiere. Never-before seen footage of Kurt Cobain and Courtney Love in their private life turned up in the 2011 doc Hit So Hard by P. David Ebersole, which followed the story of Hole drummer Patty Schemel, which Love cooperated with. On the non-doc side, Gus van Sant fictionalized a parallel Kurt Cobain story in his 2005 feature Last Days , which starred Michael Pitt as the would-be Nirvana frontman. [ Source: The Guardian ]

Kelsey Grammer Bails on Piers Morgan Interview Due to Photo of Ex-Wife

Kelsey Grammer took a new tact in his never-ending feud with Camille Grammer yesterday. Instead of slamming his ex-wife in public – did you know they stopped having sex during their marriage?!? – Kelsey simply bailed on an interview with Piers Morgan because producers showed a photo of Camille at the outset of the Morgan’s CNN talk show last night. The host simply couldn’t believe the reaction. “Kelsey Grammer was supposed to be on my show now but ran out of the building. Strange,” Morgan Tweeted, adding: “Kelsey Grammer saw a photo of his ex wife Camille in the open to our show and legged it. Extraordinary. Never had this happen before… I had a very friendly chat with Kelsey backstage. He said he was really looking forward to the interview… this was a shockingly unprofessional thing to do. I wasn’t even going to mention his ex-wife!” In response to the incident, a rep for the actor responded via statement: “Piers needs to take responsibility for what he did to Kelsey. It’s called accountability. Speaking of which: Pssst, Kelsey. Perhaps these sorts of situations are why you were supposedly snubbed for an Emmy .
