Matt Kemp, Dodgers Outfielder, Hands Over Uniform to Sick Fan

It’s safe to say Matt Kemp is anything but a sore loser. Sunday night, after getting swept by the San Francisco Giants, the Dodgers outfielder didn’t forget about a promise he made to third base coach Tim Wallach. Moments after the game, he made his way to the first row of stands because he had promised to sign an autograph for a terminally ill Dodgers fan, Joshua Jones. But Kemp ended up doing a lot more than that:  Matt Kemp Gives Fan Uniform Taking off his cap, jersey and cleats, the 28-year-old baseball superstar handed them all to this 19-year-old suffering from inoperable brain tumors. “I was in shock,” Jones said in a phone interview Tuesday. “I was sitting there thinking, ‘I can’t believe he’s doing this.’” Asked about the incident, Kemp didn’t even make a big deal of it. “I didn’t plan on taking the jersey off, but it’s something I felt would probably cheer him up a little bit … and that was my first time taking my shoes off in front of the fans,” he told reporters. “But life is so much bigger than baseball.”

Olivia Sprauer Forced to Resign as Teacher Over Bikini Photos

A Martin County High School English in Florida, Olivia Sprauer, says she lost her job because her bikini modeling side job got the principal’s attention. She posed in clothing you might see on any beach in America, but this educator said her swimsuit pics got her banned from for good from her classroom. Olivia Sprauer, 26, who models under the name Victoria James, said she decided to pose for bikini photos this winter even though she knew the risk. “Lots of teachers get fired or asked to resign for the same things I did,” Sprauer said. “I knew I didn’t want to come back next year and I knew I wanted to go to grad school so I decided if I made it to the end of the year I would be happy.” Unfortunately for Sprauer, she didn’t quite make it. Last week, she was called into principal Alfred Fabrizio’s office and pretty much told to hit the road. Sprauer said the principal showed her one of her modeling photos and, after she confirmed the picture was of her, she was asked to resign that day. “I felt like it would have been nice for my students to finish out the year,” Sprauer said. “They trusted me and they made me happy so that aspect of it was sad.” The Martin County School District would only confirm that Olivia Sprauer, who taught freshmen and juniors, is no longer employed at the school. Sprauer said she feels she did nothing wrong: “I don’t make pornography. I don’t open my legs on camera. I take swimsuit glamour style photography.” As for her students’ reactions to the scandal that ended her tenure? “They are happy for me,” Sprauer said. “They know I love them.” The boys, we imagine, are particularly happy she did this. Was the school right to force her out over this?   Yes. She has to hold herself to a higher standard. No. It’s her life and not even that racy. View Poll »

Jesus Take The Wheel: Mother Whose Four Young Children Died In Mobile Home Fire Charged With Neglect And Homicide

Sad, sad story…. Mother Charged After 4 Children Die In Mobile Home Fire A 21-year-old woman whose four young children died from inhaling smoke during a mobile home fire that occurred while they were left alone has now been charged with homicide and neglect in connection with their deaths. via USA Today A 21-year-old mother of four whose children died in a mobile home fire was charged Friday in connection with their deaths. Darlington County sheriff’s deputies arrested Hope Hawkins of Hartsville, S.C., on Thursday, a day after her children ages 10 months to 4 years old were found dead from smoke inhalation in a closet in a bedroom after her kitchen caught fire. She did not arrive at home until firefighters arrived at the scene and put out the fire, investigators said. It took firefighters less than 10 minutes to put out the fire. Hawkins was first charged with one count of unlawful neglect of a child Thursday. Hours later, Sheriff Wayne Byrd added three more counts totaling four counts of homicide by child abuse. Sisters Myasia and Kynasia Hawkins, 10 months; and their brothers, Camaron Mason, 2, and Delonta Dixon, 4, died Wednesday. This is so heartbreaking….these poor children. Do you think this woman should be held responsible for the death of her children? Or do you think her suffering will be great enough without sending her to jail? Photo Credit: USA Today
