Detroit Woman Fatally Shot From Gun Accidentally Triggered By Hug Wow. This is tragically sad. A woman celebrating the weekend before her 25th birthday was fatally shot Sunday when she hugged an off-duty police officer while dancing at a party, causing the officer’s service weapon to fire, according to police and her mother. Adaisha Miller would have turned 25 on Monday, according to her mother, Yolanda McNair. The shooting happened at an outdoor social gathering about 12:30 a.m., said police Sgt. Eren Stephens. It happened on the city’s west side. According to Stephens, the woman “embraced the officer from behind, causing the holstered weapon to accidently discharge.” The bullet punctured Miller’s lung and hit her heart, and she died at a hospital. Stephens said the Detroit officer will remain on administrative duties while authorities investigate the shooting and report their findings to the Wayne County prosecutor. The officer’s name was not released. “For this to happen to her, whether they want to call it freak accident or mistake in judgment, it should have never happened to my child, and there’s nothing I can do to get her back,” McNair told WDIV-TV. McNair said her daughter was out to mark her upcoming birthday. “All she wanted to do was enjoy the weekend for her birthday,” the mother said. “She had every right to enjoy turning 25 and look beyond that.” R.I.P. 2-Year Old Toddler Almost Dies Playing On 100 Foot High Balcony Ledge With No Parents Around What in Sam Hell was going on here?: A toddler came within inches of plummeting 100 feet to his death after climbing on to a high-rise flat balcony as his mother slept inside. Dramatic footage showed the two-year-old crawling along, and sitting on, the balcony’s ledge eight storeys up, while horrified passers-by looked on. One terrified onlooker was so concerned that she filmed the boy nonchalantly peering down and dangling his legs over the drop. Neighbour Debbie Green said: ‘I was talking to my son’s girlfriend on our front door when she looked up behind me and said: ‘there’s a baby up there on the balcony.’ ‘I turned round and saw the kid up there just playing on the balcony with no protection – I thought he was going to fall, I was sure he was going to die. ‘The police arrived after about six minutes but it felt like hours – I had to go back in the house to try and calm down because I couldn’t watch. ‘I have never felt so scared in all my life, it was horrendous. ‘I couldn’t believe someone would let their child do that. ‘But they have a chair on the balcony that he was able to use to climb up onto the ledge.’ Debbie’s husband John, added: ‘After the police went round the father just calmly walked onto the balcony and moved the chair They didn’t seem that phased by it all. ‘I’m amazed the kid was able to keep his balance up there. ‘One of our neighbours said he wanted to go and do something, but we realised if he had then the child might have leant to look at us and fallen – so we waited for the police to come. ‘There are loads of people who would like to have kids and then there are these people who let their children play on a balcony and ignore them. ‘He’s obviously been up there several times before because he was incredibly careful to climb down.’ John said he felt like he was about to film a child’s death. Officers arrived at the block of flats in Wyken, in Coventry, seven minutes later to find the mother and a man asleep inside. They said she claimed the boy was safe because of the delicate pigeon netting over the balcony. When approached, the mother claimed she had in fact been in the kitchen, not asleep, while the boy played outside. She said the doors onto the veranda don’t shut properly allowing the boy easy access to the outside world. Claiming she was ‘shocked’ when police told her what her son had been doing, she told The Sun: ‘I won’t let him out of my sight now. They out here arresting folks over Twilight DVD’s now? A mother was arrested in front of her young children and spent the night in jail – all for not returning a Twilight book and DVD. Lori Teel was arrested and handcuffed at her Portales, New Mexico home in front of her five small children on June 12. She had borrowed $36 worth of library materials not returned since 2010. Police had arrived at Mrs Teel’s home after receiving a call that her husband, Jimmy Teel, had assaulted someone, according to the Albuquerque Journal. It was while they were at the couple’s house that Portales police realized there was a warrant out for Mrs Teel’s arrest for the missing young adult fiction and movie. Her attorney, Eric Dixon, says arrest warrants were mailed last year to an address at which Mrs Teel hadn’t lived since childhood. However, the mother of five was arrested all the same in front of her children, aged one through ten, and spent the night in the Roosevelt County Detention Centre. She said: ‘My kids are still very emotional. They had to stay with a complete stranger.’ She was released the next day on a $610 bond. The Twilight Saga: New Moon DVD and Stephanie Meyer’s novel Twilight both had a due date of October 5, 2010, but Mrs Teel said she couldn’t remember checking them out. However, library records show that both items were checked out in her name. A judge had placed a warrant for her arrest after she failed to show up in court, but records show that the court summons were sent to her childhood address. Now the mother is suing the city, according to UPI. Mr Dixon wrote in the tort claim: ‘Ms Teel and her small children have been traumatized, humiliated, embarrassed, subject to ridicule, and otherwise suffered pain and suffering and other damages as a result of this wrongful arrest.’ The Albuquerque Journal reported that charges against Mrs Teel were dropped earlier this week. We’re glad the charges were dropped because that’s utter ridiculousness, but it’s still horrible she had to spend a night in jail AND spend $610 in bail for some items that weren’t even worth $40!!! This mom is a monster ! A Kansas City woman was charged Saturday with abusing her 10-year-old daughter who weighed just 32 pounds when she was found locked in a closet that reeked of urine. The 29-year-old woman faces charges of assault and child abuse and endangerment in Jackson County Circuit Court. The Associated Press is not naming the mother to protect the child’s identity. Prosecutors are requesting that bond be set at $200,000. Officers freed the girl after responding Friday morning to a call to a child abuse hotline. Neighbors told police that they didn’t know the malnourished child taken from the public housing complex even lived there. When officers first arrived, two women told the officers that the mother had left about 20 minutes earlier with two girls, whom they described as “clean and well fed,” a Kansas City officer said in the probable cause statement. A social services worker said there should be three children at the home. But the women insisted, “No, we have lived here for several years, and she only has two daughters that stay here, and we have never seen the other girl, but we heard she stays with the father or an aunt,” the probable cause statement said. Officers ultimately made their way into the apartment, where they found a portable crib pushed up against a bedroom closet, which was tied closed. The officers asked if anyone was inside, and a child’s voice answered “yes,” the probable cause statement said. The girl told officers that her mother took her sisters out to breakfast, but she didn’t go because “she messes herself.” The girl was transported to a Children’s Mercy Hospital, where she was diagnosed with multiple skin injuries. Hospital staff said she had gained just 6 pounds since she last was at the hospital six years earlier. The girl told detectives who interviewed her at the hospital that her mother puts her in the closet “a lot,” that she doesn’t get to eat every day and that she “does not want to go back home anymore.” The girl also said she gets in trouble “because she keeps peeing on herself” and her mother will “punch her on her back real hard,” according to the probable cause statement. The mother was arrested later Friday and the two younger children were placed in protective custody. The mother told police she doesn’t let the 10-year-old leave the house because she knows the girl is malnourished and would “get in trouble if someone saw her.” The mother’s boyfriend, who is not the girl’s father and hasn’t been charged, said he hadn’t seen the girl in about a year. He said that when he asked about her, the mother told him she was with her aunt or in her room because she was in trouble. He said he never knew the mother put the girl in the closet or “he would have done something about it,” the probable cause statement said. Mike Mansur, a spokesman for the Jackson County prosecutor’s office, said the mother hasn’t said why she singled the girl out. This is just sick and sad! But if you’re good … you’ll get to see her someday.’” Smith, a very troubled actress/model, was found dead in a Florida hotel room on February 8, 2007. Birkhead has spent every few months since parading his cute daughter in front of reporters and giving the world updates on a child we all just wish could live a regular life, out of the spotlight. But Larry insists on making Dannielynn a public figure… and then acting shocked when she’s in the news. Such as when he dragged her last month to the Kentucky Derby. “You know, it’s weird when your child is five years old and trending,” the moron told Robin Roberts this morning. “There’s all these big stars that came and the next thing you know Dannielynn’s picture is all over the place.” Overall, Birkhead says “it’s hard to move on.” Why? “Because you have this little 47-pound reminder of her mother walking around. And you have all these images that are still so much very alive that you have to deal with every day. “I want to keep Anna’s image alive in a positive way. She could light up a room. The unstoppable pop machine proved her mettle on Sunday night during the third of three shows in New Zealand when she was struck in the head with a pole and just kept on rocking. Videos of the incident posted online show a male backup dancer accidentally hitting Gaga in the head with a metal set piece while trying to take move it off the stage. Gaga, who bent down to pick up a prop machine gun during the performance of “Judas,” staggered a bit and rubbed her head before briefly walking off the stage. But, a short time later, she was right back at it, performing 16 more songs before calling it a night. Later in the gig, she told the audience, “I want to apologize. I did hit my head and I think I may have a concussion. But don’t you worry, I will finish this show.” The singer’s make-up artist, Tara Savelo, tweeted about the incident on Sunday, writing, “Gaga has a concussion but she is going to be okay. She wants u to know she loves u. I’m taking care of her. Can’t believe she finished the show.” Maybe at the next big awards show she can trade notes with Justin Bieber , who recently suffered a concussion when he walked into a glass wall backstage during an appearance in Paris. There was other news out of her New Zealand swing as well. After Madonna called Gaga out during her tour kick-off in Tel Aviv recently by playing a mash-up of her “Express Yourself” with Gaga’s similar-sounding “Born This Way” and then ending the song by chanting, “She’s not me,” Gaga appeared to respond to the dis. While playing her follicular pride tune “Hair” during a NZ show on Thursday, Gaga sat down at her motorcycle-shaped keyboard and appeared to respond to the incident. “It sometimes makes people feel better about themselves to put other people down or make fun of them or maybe make mockery of their work,” she said in a video of the speech posted on YouTube in which she speaks in general terms about knocking down others to make yourself feel better. (Speech starts at 2:30 mark.) “And that doesn’t make me feel good at all. That just makes me feel like I’m not being a good human being … I don’t even want to fight back because it’s more important to me to keep writing music. Because that’s really all I care about, is the music … things are really different than they were 25 years ago, and that’s what makes ‘Born this Way’ so relevant for me. Via TMZ reports : Tyler Perry is calling BS on reports Whitney Houston’s daughter Bobbi Kristina walked off the set of his TV show “For Better Or Worse” — claiming the rumors are “not true at all.” Bobbi Kristina has a small recurring role on the show — but reports have been circulating she called it quits before wrapping the season, storming off the set in tears. Now Tyler — the creator of the show — has taken to his website to dispel the rumors, writing, “There is no way that she could have walked off the set because we have finished taping the season.” Tyler writes, “Were there tough days for her? Yes of course. Not because of the acting or any job-related issues but because of the fact that she had just lost her mother.” He adds, “So yes she was grieving, but grief aside, she managed to finish her obligation and did a great job at the same time.” Good to see Bobbi is standing strong!
