‘Breaking Dawn’ Trailer: Four Lingering Questions

‘Twilight’ experts point out inconsistencies and omissions in the MTV Movie Awards-debuted sneak peek. By Eric Ditzian Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart in “Breaking Dawn” Photo: Summit Entertainment On Sunday morning, a few hours before the 2011 MTV Movie Awards went live and while the red carpet at the Gibson Amphitheatre was still a hive of pre-show activity, we welcomed three “Twilight” experts into the fray with a simple assignment: Take an early look at the “Breaking Dawn” teaser trailer, which we would be debuting during the Movie Awards, and let us know what you think. They more than came through. Kara Hassell of TwilightersAnonymous.com , Laura Byrne-Cristiano of TwilightLexicon.com and Kallie Matthews from TwilightSeriesTheories.com analyzed the trailer like only die-hard “Twilight” specialists can. But there was too much info to pack into one story . And now that a few days have passed since the trailer’s debut and the bloggers’ opinions are still fresh in our minds, we have a few lingering questions we want answered in the future. Two Wedding Rings? Early in the trailer, we see Kristen Stewart’s Bella Swan wearing a large diamond-incrusted ring — a family heirloom, as explained in the book. But as Matthews pointed out, when Bella notices she is pregnant in the trailer, she is wearing a simple silver band. What gives? Will the two-ring situation be explained? Matthews thinks she knows the answer already. “I’m thinking it’s one of those things where the one ring really is an heirloom,” she told us. “You put it away and wear it on special occasions.” Too Hot for PG-13? Last summer, Summit Entertainment distribution chief Richie Fay assured us that, despite the book’s sex scenes and horror-like elements, the adaptation would not be rated R . That hasn’t stopped online talk, as Byrne-Cristiano put it, that “we’ve got to make this R.” Well, now that we’ve seen the first trailer, it seems regardless of the PG-13 rating, the flick is going to be pretty steamy. Just how hot? Though we’ve gotten a peek — Robert Pattinson’s Edward Cullen cracking a headboard mid-coitus and the duo taking a honeymoon skinny dip — the real question about the heat factor will have to wait until we glimpse a different scene: the famous one with the feathers . “There are no feathers on the bed,” she noted. “That’s a well-known point that everyone wants. So in that trailer, there are three moments, and there’s got to be another one.” What Else Has Changed? The eagle-eyed Hassell noted two small but significant changes from “New Moon” to “Breaking Dawn.” For one, Jamie Campbell Bower, who plays the blond vampire Caius, seems to have a reworked ‘do . “His hair is A-plus!” she said. “A lot better than ‘New Moon.’ ” And Hassell also noted the Volturi’s thrones appear to have gotten a makeover. “It seems like the ones in ‘New Moon’ are more intricate,” she said. “The ones in ‘Breaking Dawn’ are very square and not as ornate.” It’s hard to say what accounts for such changes; the same production designer, for example, worked on both films. But it does raise the question: What else has changed in the world of “Twilight” for these final films? Will We See The Wedding Dress Before Opening Night? While the trailer showed us much more than many predicted — a shirtless Taylor Lautner as Jacob Black, Bella quizzically examining her pregnant belly — there was one thing we didn’t catch a glimpse of: Bella’s wedding dress. Might we see the gown in a subsequent trailer? Or will Summit hold that back until the film itself? “I’m hoping beyond hope that we get the wedding dress in the next trailer. I’m not holding my breath. I think we’ll have to wait,” said Hassel, adding, “I hope it’s something classic that fits in with [author] Stephenie Meyer’s vision. But Kristen’s gorgeous. She’ll look great in anything.” Check out everything we’ve got on “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1.” For young Hollywood news, fashion and “Twilight” updates around the clock, visit HollywoodCrush.MTV.com .

‘Twilight’ Movie Awards Kiss ‘Shocked’ Ryan Reynolds, Blake Lively

‘I’d seen it in my head many times as I closed my eyes,’ Reynolds jokes of Pattison-on-Lautner lip-lock. By Eric Ditzian, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Robert Pattinson kisses Taylor Lautner at the 2011 MTV Movie Awards Photo: Kevin Mazur/ WireImage In 2009, Ryan Reynolds and Sandra Bullock took the stage at the MTV Movie Awards to present the Golden Popcorn for Best Kiss. In what would become an ongoing theme over the next few years, “Twilight” stars Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart won the prize. They took the stage to raucous applause and proceeded to tease a reenactment of their onscreen smooch without actually going ahead with the deed. After winning again the next year — and finally puckering up for the crowd — 2011 rolled around and Ryan Reynolds was again picked to hand out the Best Kiss award, this time with “Green Lantern” co-star Blake Lively. Thus both Ryan and Blake had quite a view when, after the Twi-kids once again nabbed the award, Pattinson bounded down from the stage, away from Stewart and into Taylor Lautner’s arms for a seriously unexpected kiss. “I did not know that there would be a ‘Twilight’-on-‘Twilight’ kiss,” Reynolds told us days later when we caught up with him at a “Green Lantern” press event. “We had no idea.” Of course, having witnessed the inaugural “Twilight” Best Kiss win, the actor had been imagining something of the sort for years. “I’d seen it in my head many times as I closed my eyes,” Reynolds added. “But that was quite shocking, actually, that he would just run off the stage like that and attack that poor boy.” Lively’s family, for their part, were equally stunned by the smooch — and the unwelcome attention of MTV’s cameras. “My family was sitting behind them,” Lively explained. “They were like, ‘Ooooh!’ They were hiding. They were so shy.” For young Hollywood news, fashion and “Twilight” updates around the clock, visit HollywoodCrush.MTV.com . ‘Transformers’ Stars Survive ‘Jumping Through Fire’

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley says ‘Dark of the Moon’ director Michael Bay usually had her ‘hiding underneath something that was about to explode.’ By Jocelyn Vena Rosie Huntington-Whiteley Photo: MTV News It’s almost a given that stunt work on a flick like “Transformers: Dark of the Moon” would be intense. The cast of the Michael Bay-directed movie expected as much, and they were more than up for the challenge. “I loved doing the stunts,” Rosie Huntington-Whiteley told MTV News, adding that she thought Bay “really respected a girl that could get her hands dirty.” “Dark of the Moon,” which hits theaters on June 29, is Huntington-Whiteley’s first appearance in the franchise but she seemed to revel in all of the action. “Everything was a first for me, so it was super exhilarating and exciting. … And we had a lot of fun filming. Every day was a crazy day on set and I think maybe half the time, I was in a harness or jumping through fire or I was running through gunfire or, like, hiding underneath something that was about to explode.” SEE PHOTOS OF ROSIE HUNTINGTON-WHITELEY AND MORE STARS ON THE MOVIE AWARDS RED-CARPET. Fellow “Transformers” newcomer Patrick Dempsey was equally into it, dishing about the technology Bay used to show the cast how he wanted certain scenes to turn out. “I had some sequences; a lot of explosions,” he said. “He was very good about showing us what the sequence would be like on his iPad. That helped tremendously.” Three films in, Josh Duhamel and Shia LaBeouf were looking forward to getting in on the action, even if it seemed dangerous. “A lot of the times they don’t let us do stuff like that, but Shia and I both teamed up on Michael to let us do this one stunt,” Duhamel recalled. “It was pretty nuts. They tied us on to these latches and they yank you 50 feet up in the air and they yank you back up, but it turned out to be really fun and this is the reason why I love these movies, ’cause you get to do stuff you don’t get to do otherwise.” Check out everything we’ve got on “Transformers: Dark of the Moon.” For breaking news, celebrity columns, humor and more — updated around the clock — visit MTVMoviesBlog.com . ‘Twilight’ Rookie Noel Fisher Opens Up About ‘Breaking Dawn’

‘There’s a lot of joking and having a good time,’ he tells MTV News of vibe on set. By Terri Schwartz, with reporting by Eric Ditzian Photo: Jason Merritt/ Getty Images The cast of “The Twilight Saga” might have won all their MTV Movie Awards for “Eclipse,” but the real focus was on the trailer for “Breaking Dawn.” Because the hype is so strong for the fourth installment of “The Twilight Saga,” newcomer Noel Fisher was invited to attend his first MTV Movie Awards. Fisher, who plays Vladimir in “Breaking Dawn,” described the experience as “way next level.” Fisher won’t hit the big screen until “Breaking Dawn – Part 2” comes out in 2012, and he was completely unwilling to share any plot tidbits when MTV News caught up with him on the red carpet. “Can’t tell you about that yet! I’m in the second movie, I can tell you that. But other than that, can’t tell you too much about the actual script or what happens in it,” he said with a laugh. SEE PICS OF THE “TWILIGHT” CAST’S BIG MOVIE AWARDS NIGHT. Since it was his first Movie Awards and the rest of the “Twilight” cast’s third, MTV asked if any of his co-stars gave him some words of advice for walking the red carpet. “The biggest piece of advice I found was just be yourself,” he said. “The really nice thing about it is that everyone is so friendly, so just kind of relax and be yourself and get to meet people.” Fisher said he had a similarly good experience on the set of “Breaking Dawn,” where everyone welcomed him in as part of the “Twilight” family. The vibe on set was “really fun,” he said, especially since Vladimir comes into the story at a point when many other new characters join up with the Cullens as well. “One of the best parts about doing this for me was everyone was really friendly. They have such a nice camaraderie and such a nice repartee back and forth. You can see it onscreen, [and] it’s very much offscreen [too]. There’s a lot of joking and having a good time,” he said. “They’re all very professional and they can do that, and then they can turn in and be in what they need to be in. It was really nice.” Another exciting part of coming to the Movie Awards for Fisher was the chance to see the exclusive “Breaking Dawn” trailer. Unfortunately someone leaked the sneak peek before the Movie Awards started, but Fisher said he held off on watching the video so he could see it at the show. He said he was a bit upset about the fact that it had been leaked ahead of time and the fact that “Twilight” exclusives have been leaked in the past. “There’s a lot of excitement about the movie and people want to see it really badly, but I think that the point of it, you kind of have to hold on to it and just let it come. It’s more satisfying,” Fisher said. MTV News has all of the highlights from the 2011 MTV Movie Awards . ‘Breaking Dawn’ Last Day ‘Wasn’t Super Dramatic’

‘It was surprising, actually, how little we had to say when we finished,’ Nikki Reed tells MTV News. By Terri Schwartz, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Kellan Lutz and Peter Facinelli Photo: MTV News “Breaking Dawn” has wrapped, the trailer has officially debuted at the MTV Movie Awards , and the stars of “The Twilight Saga” are nearing the end of their years-long franchise. MTV News caught up with Nikki Reed, Kellan Lutz and Peter Facinelli outside the Gibson Amphitheatre after “Eclipse” won the Golden Popcorn for Best Movie. The Cullen trio chatted about the last day of shooting, saying it wasn’t as emotional as fans might have expected. “It was surprising, actually, how little we had to say when we finished, to be honest,” Reed said. “We know we’re going to see each other, so it wasn’t super dramatic.” Facinelli agreed, adding, “We have two more movies coming out, so it wasn’t so much of a goodbye as it was a ‘see ya later.’ ” According to the three “Twilight” stars, there was no big commotion made on their last day of filming “Breaking Dawn.” In fact, none of the stars even made a speech. “We should have a speech right now!” Facinelli suggested. “Kellan?” Lutz turned to his co-stars and deadpanned, “I worked the very last day, and I hate you mother—-ers. That’s my speech.” Though the stars of “The Twilight Saga” still have another year and a half until the second part of “Breaking Dawn” hits theaters, and then will have to make press rounds to promote the DVD and Blu-ray release, they still are willing to look into the future to what they will be doing for other projects. Or they’re willing to joke about it, at least. “Broadway musical, let’s do it,” Facinelli said with a laugh. ” ‘Carlisle on Ice.’ I can’t wait.” “I’ll buy a ticket,” Lutz offered. ‘Twilight’ Stars Feared ‘Harry Potter,’ ‘Inception’ At Movie Awards

‘I think some of us were a little bit nervous,’ wolf pack member Tinsel Korey tells MTV News about the competition. By Kara Warner, with reporting by Eric Ditzian “Eclipse” cast at the 2011 MTV Movie Awards Photo: Jeff Kravitz/ WireImage Another Movie Awards , another super-dominating victory by Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner and company for “The Twilight Saga.” “Eclipse,” the third installment of the blockbuster franchise, took home five Golden Popcorn trophies at Sunday’s show. MTV News caught up with a few members of the wolf pack, as well as Jasper Hale, after their final big win for Best Movie, and they expressed genuine surprise and lots of gratitude about how many awards the third “Twilight” film had racked up. “I think ‘Harry Potter’ was definitely a contender tonight,” Tinsel Korey said of perhaps their biggest competition in the Best Movie category. “I think some of us were a little bit nervous, but we have great fans and they’re dedicated.” “I thought ‘Inception’ would have taken it,” Kiowa Gordon admitted. “Same here,” Booboo Stewart agreed. ‘I thought ‘Inception’ was going to win, [especially] Best Fight and all that.” “It’s a crazy popularity contest thing,” Alex Meraz added. “But I’m very happy we’re on the winning side of it. The fans have been fantastic throughout all of this; it’s been a good ride.” Meraz went on to say that if their winning streak continues into next year, MTV might have to build a bigger stage to hold all of the castmembers. “Next year it’s going to be crazier because there’s a lot more cast, so if ‘The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1’ is the best film next year, you’re going to be seeing 60 people up on that stage.” “It’s always a pleasure and an honor to show up to the MTV Movie Awards, to have the fans vote and say what their favorites are,” Jackson Rathbone, who plays vampire Jasper Hale, pointed out. “We were up against some hard-hitters today but hey, we came out on top. It was very exciting, a great show,” he said, before giving a few props to the evening’s musical acts. “The Foo Fighters killed it ; I had a great time,” Rathbone said. “Lupe Fiasco rocked.” Do you think “Twilight” will dominate next year’s awards show?
