Hi I’m Lauren and this is My Bieber Experience! I met Justin on…

Hi I’m Lauren and this is My Bieber Experience! I met Justin on October 18 th 2012 in Winnipeg . I didn’t get tickets to his concert when they went on sale and neither did my best friend Katie and we were really disappointed. It was getting closer to the concert and I knew how much it would mean to both of us to even go to the concert, so and I started entering every contest I could find to win tickets or meet & greets. I didn’t care as long as I got to go to the concert. I think I entered at least 10 contests when I found this one on a radio station for 4 meet & greets and my mom happened to be a member of this stations website and she had over 100 thousand points! The contest cost 500 points to enter each time so I entered it 50 times. I was desperate. About a week later it was the contest deadline and I hadn’t gotten any calls or emails so I just assumed I didn’t win. The next day I came home from school and my mom played me a message on our answering machine from the radio station saying I had been picked as one of the 80 finalists in the contest and I was invited to a small movie theatre where they would play Never Say Never and do the draw for the meet & greets after the movie. I was so excited! I knew it was still a very small chance I’d win (1 in 80) but it was worth a shot. It was the day of the contest I was so excited all day, I literally couldn’t sit still. When we got there we were seated and they played Never Say Never. After the movie they did a reverse draw where everyone stood up and if they pulled your name you were eliminated. It was the most stressful thing I’ve ever gone through. It got down to the final 10 and I was still in it and I started thinking like, I could actually win this. FINALLY it got to the final 2 and it was me and my cousin and this other girl and her mom (my cousin’s name was in the draw because it had to be an adult). We got to go up on the stage and they changed the rules, so that if they did pull your name, you were the winner. Sure enough they pulled Ashley (my cousin’s name) and I broke down crying. I fell to the ground. I had never been so happy in my life. I even got to do a radio interview! 3 days later it was finally the day of the concert! We even made Justin a Build-a-bear with a Winnipeg Jets shirt. We got to the MTS Centre and got our wristbands and started waiting in line. While we were waiting in line we saw Kenny and we started screaming and crying and he just laughed and waved at us . The line started moving up and we got up to the security guards. We had to give the teddy bear to them and I was telling the security guard to make sure Justin got the bear and stuff but I didn’t realize we were standing right in front of the curtain Justin was behind. Then all of a sudden the curtain opened and there he was! I didn’t even realize it was him at first, I thought it was a cardboard cutout or something and I just stared at him. He was like, “Hey come on in!” I was the first one in and I was trying so hard not to cry. All I managed to say was, “Can I hug you?” and Justin was so sweet he said “Of course!” and gave me a big hug and I just held onto him while he said hi to everyone else. I just remember staring up at him and looking at his huge diamond earrings. Then the photographer told me to turn for the picture so I did, they took the picture and before I knew it the security guards were pushing us out but I wasn’t done! I looked at Justin and started balling my eyes out crying saying everything I could think of (I don’t think he even really understood me) and he just smiled, and looked me right in the eye, put his hand on my shoulder and said, “It’s okay sweetheart don’t cry!” and then hugged me. I was crying into his shirt, hugging him. Then the security guard started pulling me away and I yelled, “I love you so much Justin” as we were leaving and he said “I love you too.” I was still balling my eyes out walking around the arena, I couldn’t stop (people were staring) LOL. I don’t think I stopped crying the entire night because the concert was SO incredible. It was seriously the best day of my life and if you’re reading this please DO NOT give up because if you NEVER SAY NEVER and BELIEVE, you will meet Justin and your dreams WILL come true. I can promise you that. Justin if you read this I want you to know how much I love you and how much you’ve changed my life I don’t know where I’d be without you. My name is Lindsay and my dream has always been to see my idol…

My name is Lindsay and my dream has always been to see my idol Justin Bieber in concert, and well it finally happened. On December 1st, it was Justin’s concert here in Toronto. Sadly, my friends and I had no tickets. I woke up that day really early and headed out to the Rogers Centre with my friend to at least try and get a glimpse of Justin. We got to the venue and met up with the rest of our friends and the waiting began. Hours went by and we were waiting in the freezing cold. We walked around the Rogers Centre maybe a billion times by then. It was about 4 o’clock and all of the people with meet & greet’s started heading in. Five guys and two camera men came outside and a lady followed behind with a sign saying “BELIEVE MOVIE BEING FILMED.” We all went crazy, everyone started singing. It was an amazing feeling being with Beliebers, singing to our idol’s song and being filmed for the movie. After the camera crew left we were waiting in front of a door and we saw Jon Chu. He waved at us, said hi and left. The concert was going to start in a bit and we kept losing hope. We thought we were never going to see Justin, Scooter or anyone. We wanted to get into the concert so bad. We started talking to people who worked at the venue, scalpers, basically anyone. The concert had started and we were all depressed, except for one of my friends who said, “Justin told us to never say never.” She kept us waiting in the cold longer. Then as 8 o’clock came around, we were going to leave. It was too cold to stand around anymore. As we were walking to leave we saw a man with a camera filming, one of Justin’s dancers and Scooter. We all ran to him, crying, telling him how long we were outside for, etc. He said he had no tickets but he’d take a picture with us. The 6 of us lined up to take a picture with him but then he said, “I only have 5 tickets, 1 of you can’t come in.” My heart broke. All that waiting and one of us sadly couldn’t go. My friend, said it was okay, she wouldn’t come with us. But then Scooter said to her, “You can’t sit with them but you’re coming to watch the show with me.” WE ALL WENT CRAZY. We started crying, screaming, my friend even looked like she was going to pass out. He gave us front row tickets. I hugged him and we ran in so fast screaming and crying. People were looking at us weird. We got in to the venue and into our seats about 10 minutes before Justin came out. When Justin came out everyone went WILD. After the concert, I went home and went straight to bed. I woke up the next morning with a tweet from Scooter and a follow from him. It was the best day of my life and I owe it all to Scooter Braun . I will never be able to thank him enough for what he did for us that day. I’m so happy I could finally say, “I seen my Idol Justin Bieber live in concert.” Don’t ever lose hope. Never Say Never. -@osnapitslindsay See the rest here: My name is Lindsay and my dream has always been to see my idol…

Justin Bieber Posts SEXY Photo of Selena Gomez to Instagram

Yup, it’s safe to say all is well between Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez . Indeed, while Justin spent Christmas Day with his family in Canada – check out this Twit pic of Bieber and his sister ! – Gomez was never far from his thoughts. His sexy thoughts, that is, based on the photo Bieber posted to Instagram yesterday: The image is taken from Selena’s smokin hot Elle shoot in July, and it really says it all, doesn’t it? No? Then perhaps the following does: While Bieber did not include a caption with this shot, he did send off a couple Tweets this week: i dont need no presents girl your everything i need 🙂 im where im supposed to be. Hmmm… we wonder what/who he was referring to exactly?

Sarah Silverman Defends Django Unchained, Use of N-Word

Sarah Silverman is standing up for the concept of art. And the pervasive use of a certain racial slur. Allow us to explain… With Spike Lee criticizing director Quentin Tarantino for the abundance of N-Word utterances in Django Unchained (over 110, according to unofficial counts), the female comedian is coming out in defense of the film and wondering: “Doesn’t it take place like during slavery? Wouldn’t it be odd if they didn’t have that horrific word in it?” Silverman tells TMZ that she likes Lee, but… “[Spike’s] got a lot of mishegas with a lot of art. I think you can’t really tell art what to do.” Movie goers didn’t seem to have any misgivings about the film, as Django Unchained broke box office records for an R-rated movie on Christmas day. Have you seen it? What do you think of its N-Word use? It is…   Totally inappropriate! Totally accurate for the era! I don’t care View Poll »

Domestic Box Office Rises In Dollars And Audiences In 2012

Year on year, Hollywood’s box office receipts rise. And while the 2012 numbers came in higher than 2011, the year marked a specifically good turn for the movie industry: the number of actual tickets sold went up for the first time in three years. The year’s big numbers come despite a generally slow summer blockbuster season. The number of admissions have had a general decline for a decade, with the number of tickets sold flat lining in 2011 with 1.29 billion, which was the lowest number since 1995, according to A.P. Dollar amounts typically rise despite the decline of audiences numbers due to the rise in ticket prices. But for 2012, ticket sales rose 5.6 percent to 1.36 billion by December 31. The number is still significantly below the peak of 1.6 billion sold in 2002. On the overall revenue side, the domestic box office should top out 6 percent ahead of the $10.2 billion figure last year and also top Hollywood’s previous $10.6 billion record set in 2009. Leading the list of box office hits was Disney’s The Avengers with $623 million domestically ($1.5 billion worldwide) and Warner Bros.’ third Batman installment The Dark Knight Rises with $448 million domestically ($1.1 billion worldwide). Lionsgate’s The Hunger Games grossed over $408 million ($686.5 million) while Sony’s James Bond pic Skyfall reached nearly $280 million as of Sunday (and will likely surpass $1 billion this week); The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2 has a domestic total so far of nearly $282 million ($759.1 million worldwide); The Amazing Spider-Man topped out at just over $262 million in the U.S. ($752 million worldwide). Other big 2012 titles included Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted ($216 million) and Ice Age: Continental Drift ($161 million). And Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey has totaled $157 million domestically since opening December 14th in the U.S. While it’s good news for Hollywood, the future of the box office dollar continues to like overseas. International audiences used to amount to less than half of a typical release, but that figure has swelled to two or even three times dollars spent domestically. Even pics such as Battleship and John Carter which tanked in the U.S. came out decently overseas ($209.7 million abroad for John Carter and $237.6 million for Battleship ). The domestic market has also been hampered with the advent of ever-sophisticated home entertainment systems, portable devices and video games. Still, most agree the big screen experience with an audience is the best way to see a movie. “Every home has a kitchen, but you can’t get into a good restaurant on Saturday night,” Dan Fellman, head of distribution for Warner Bros told A.P. “People want to escape. That’s the nature of society. The adult population just is not going to sit home seven days a week, even though they have technology in their home that’s certainly an improvement over what it was 10 years ago. People want to get out of the house, and no matter what they throw in the face of theatrical exhibition, it continues to perform at a strong level.” [ Sources: A.P. , Box Office Mojo ]

Samuel L. Jackson Talks Slavery, Star Wars & His ‘Sanitized’ Character In ‘Django Unchained’

A career of playing righteous bad-asses in  Pulp Fiction , the Star Wars   prequel trilogy and the Marvel superhero movies  has made Samuel L. Jackson one of the highest grossing actors of all time.  Which makes his decision to play Stephen, the calculating and merciless right-hand man of plantation owner Calvin Candie ( Leonardo DiCaprio ) in Quentin Tarantino’s Django Unchained, Jackson’s most daring acting choice yet. Fans of the actor who see Tarantino’s spaghetti southern, which opens Christmas day, in the hopes of seeing Jackson in a Jules Winnfield -style role are in for quite a surprise. The 64-year-old Jackson originally wanted the role of the film’s titular hero, but when he learned he was too old for the part, he took the role of one of  Django’s main antagonists and set out to make him, as he says in the interview below, ” the most reprehensible negro in cinema history.”  Although it’s hard to imagine, Jackson told Movieline that he was initially depicted as even more villainous in earlier cut of Django Unchained , but that Tarantino “sanitized” Stephen in the editing room. Jackson also talked about his desire to reprise Mace Windu in Disney’s reboot of the Star Wars franchise and his frustration with America’s refusal to confront its history with slavery. Movieline: Stephen is such a complex character.  He manages to be a villain, a slave and a father figure to Calvin Candie. There are also parallels between Stephen’s relationship to Calvin and Django’s relationship to Dr. King Schultz.  Was all of this in the script? Samuel Jackson:   It’s always been in the script. When Quentin and I were talking about it, he was saying that they were mirrored relationships and by the time Django and Schultz got to Candyland they would have developed the relationship that Calvin and I have always had. Theirs is more mentor/mentee. And ours is more father/son. But it’s still the same kind of relationship. Your character turns out to be the power behind the throne at Candyland. Yeah, I’m the brains at the plantation.  I know what’s going on and I’ve been around longer. And Calvin is not the brightest candle in the room. As I said earlier, I’m the Dick Cheney of Candyland. Given what this movie has to say about slavery and how reprehensible your character is, did you have to think twice about taking this part? Not at all. When I read the script, and realized I wasn’t Django and then who Stephen was, I was like, okay, we’ve seen Uncle Toms, we’ve seen slaves, we’ve seen Stepin Fetchit, but we never seen this guy.  And the potential for him to be the most reprehensible negro in cinema history is there. I think you succeed there. It’s in the film, but like Quentin says, we’re also talking about things that you don’t see.  There are scenes we shot that aren’t in the movie in which I do some things that are way more reprehensible than what you actually see on screen.” Such as? Well in that scene where Django’s hanging upside down, and I give that speech. There’s a whole other section of that speech that goes on where I torture him. ” I burn his nipples off with a hot poker.  I do all kinds of  shit to him in that scene that would have just made people go, ‘ Ahhhhh!” Just for fun? There’s another scene we shot where, when Django first gets to Candyland, he and Stephen have a physical altercation. I show him to his room, and I say something to him and he slaps me down. He actually puts his hands on me. I’m supposed to be old and weak, so I don’t do anything.  He puts his foot in my chest and he says all this shit to me about how fucked up I am and kicks me out of the room. He kicks me in the ass and kicks me out of the room.  And from that point on, I’m on his ass trying to figure out what’s up. So there’s that, and I do some other things to some other slaves that are in the house that you actually see me do on the screen.  I say shit about them, I reprimand them and do shit to them.  So, Stephen is a detestable character who could have been much more detestable. Quentin sanitized Stephen a bit. What’s interesting about this movie is that it’s very entertaining and, yet, I had quite a visceral reaction to the scenes of brutality involving slaves. Yeah, they’re horrific. The guy sitting next to me walked out. Oh did he? And didn’t come back? No, he didn’t come back.  And I got the impression that Tarantino wants moviegoers to really feel the brutality of those scenes.   It’s not an easy time.  You know, every time people do a movie about slavery, you don’t see that kind of shit.  You might see a person get whipped, or you might see somebody get dressed down or shackled or whatever. But, you know, human life was cheap to those people.  If you did something wrong, an example was made to make sure that whoever saw [the punishment] knew this is what could happen to you. We’ll cut your foot off. We’ll cut your hand off.  You know, they used to take pregnant women — take one of them, cut her belly open, drop the baby out and just stomp it to death in front of all the slaves. Good lord. Just to let them know:  I own you. I can do whatever I want with you.  Like Leo says, “I can smash your brains out if I feel like it.” As a poorly informed white guy, by the end of the movie, I certainly felt like I had a greater understanding of why there’s so much lingering anger over that period in American history. Yeah, because we’ve been avoiding really talking about it. Okay, so you fucked over the Indians, and you gave them their land back and tax-free casinos.  You fucked over the Japanese. You interred them during World War II and then you turned around and you gave all of them some money. Well, after you fucked us over, we didn’t get the 40 acres and a mule. You look at us every day and go, “Fuck y’all.” When the subject of reparations is raised, everybody goes: “Well, I didn’t have slaves. Those were my ancestors. Get over it.”  Well you didn’t ask those other motherfuckers to get over it. Why do we got to get over it? When I was in Liverpool doing Formula 51 , that port was one of the first places slave ships stopped on the way over here. And there are huge shipping buildings that used to be shipping corporations and all of them have these slave faces painted on their facades. And people there told me, “Well, you know, there was a lot of slave trade here and this [city] was built on the blood of slaves.  So we have their faces on the buildings.”  And then they had a big apology ceremony while I was there. They owned up to their responsibility and their part in the slave trade. America has never done any shit like that. Do you think it would help or is too little, too late at this point? Fuck no. We’re past all that shit. There’s also been quite a bit of discussion  in the media over the number of times that the word “nigger” is uttered in the movie. There was no other term for who we were. They weren’t talking about African-Americans and Negros. That was the name. That was it. How do you feel about white people using the word, for example in a pop-culture context. I’m kind of over it.  I grew up hearing it. I grew up in Tennessee during segregation, so it was something that was screamed out, of course. When people ask me, ‘What’s the first time you were called nigger?’ I say, probably some time in my house when I was like one or two years old . So, I can look at a person and tell what their intent is, and I deal with it that way. I deal with it in context. Your performance as Stephen is full of surprises beginning with the moment that you first appear onscreen. What is your favorite scene in the movie? My favorite scene is not in the movie.   Seriously?  What happens in it? My favorite scene is the one in the barn where I explain to Django [who’s been captured and suspended upside down] what the problem was between him and me:  He put his hands on me, and nobody has ever touched me in my life. I explain that I’ve been on this plantation 70-odd years and I’ve seen all kinds of shit done to niggers:  hanging, drowning — Some of that does remain in the movie. And after I run through this litany of all this horrific shit that gets done to slaves, I say, you know I ain’t never been touched, and your black ass shows up and slaps me down. I’m doing this because you put your hands on me. Can you see any reason to empathize with the character you play? He’s a product of his environment. His grandfather did that job. His father did that job.  He’d never been in the fields.  He was raised to be Calvin Candie’s right-hand-man and because he’s in that position, not only can he read and write, he writes the checks. He runs the plantation. He makes sure the cotton gets picked. He is the king of a 75-mile radius world, and he knows that if he steps foot outside that, he’s just another slave in the South. So why wouldn’t he want that? As far as he knows, that system has worked all his life. Plus the white people on the plantation take orders from him.  What better world could he be in? You’ve been pretty vocal about your desire to reprise the role of Mace Windu in one of the new Star Wars movies that Disney is making. Has the studio talked to you at all? I’m campaigning.  They haven’t approached me yet.  I’ve been putting my feelers out there, and I’ve got all my people on Twitter talking about it.  So hopefully they’ll hear it and whoever’s writing the story will, you know, write me in as an Obi-wan Kenobi  hologram ghost, or maybe even I can fuckin’ show back up with one hand. He is a Jedi. Right, and Anakin lost his arm in Episode II . Yeah.  I’m down with that.  I’m totally down with it.  And I think they are going to need characters that audiences are familiar with to get [the franchise] going in a direction where people will feel comfortable and familiar with what’s going on. They just can’t bring in a whole bunch of new Jedi — no way. Read More on Django Unchained: Samuel L. I’m finally sitting down to share my experience meeting…

See more here:

I’m finally sitting down to share my experience meeting Justin and seeing the Believe tour for the first time. Let me start by saying I haven’t been around since the beginning (unfortunately) like a lot of you have. Right around the time ‘Never Say Never’ came out, my friend Jenni (@thejennimoore) introduced me to Justin’s music. After we saw the movie, it was on . We became a bit obsessed, but since we were (at the time) 22, couldn’t really admit it to that many people. Getting comments about him not being legal and such made it hard to let everyone know how much we loved his music, and how cute he was! We always said that when Justin comes to Portland, we are totally going to see him. I wasn’t a member of BieberFever, but Jenni was and when we heard the announcement that he was going on tour plus presale was on May 23rd, we knew the time had come. We were finally going to get to see Justin Bieber in concert! We bought our floor seats and spent the next few months getting excited for the concert! When Jenni told me she was going to enter a contest to win us a meet & greets, I gladly helped, but secretly thought we had no chance of winning. The winners weren’t going to be announced until the day before the show, at midnight, and the anticipation was killing us! The night that the winners were announced, I was out with friends and my phone had died. The next morning Jenni called me promptly at 8 a.m., and said she would give me two more hours, but was coming over. 10 a.m. came too quick, and in walked Jenni and her bf, ready to hang out. He took my phone, (secretly taking a video of us sitting on the couch) and she handed me hers, prompting me to read an email. The email was to Bieberfever, with her entry. I didn’t understand what was going on, and she took the phone, found another email, and showed it to me. WE HAD WON! I started screaming at the top of my lungs, with her boyfriend catching it all on camera, and we both started giggling hysterically . Although I had only had 4 hours of sleep, you’d better believe I was WIDE awake! We started planning our day, now with the knowledge that we were going to meet THE MAN himself the next afternoon. First stop, driving past his hotel. We thought we’d take a chance and see if he happened to be outside, and luckily for us his tour bus had just pulled up and out he walked, looking perfect as ever, as we were slowly driving by. Jenni stopped the car and opened her door, not knowing whether or not to go talk to him. I picked up my phone and started frantically taking whatever pictures I could. We quickly decided not to bother him, as he looked sleepy and seemed to be ready to go on a bike ride. We circled around and drove past him. I rolled down my window and said the only thing I knew we were both thinking, and the only thing that would come out of my mouth, “JUSTIN WE LOVE YOU!!!!!”. He said thanks, and as we drove away. I’m pretty sure we both giggled harder then we ever had before. We were in shock. I honestly don’t know how she drove, but we ended up at her house and proceeded to fangirl over our short interaction with him, and plan our outfits, hair, talking points and anything else we could to prep for our big day. I woke up the next morning literally smiling like an idiot, but I couldn’t contain my excitement! I honestly don’t remember anything before Jenni came over to pick me up for the show, that’s how elated I was to be meeting him. Fast forward through all the stress at the ticket window, Beliebers screaming and running frantically, and our Kenny sighting, we had finally made it inside the arena for our M&G. We made friends with some adorable girls in line in front of us, and heard shrieks and sobs over and over again. It was almost our turn; we ran over our game plan, and as we walked around the corner, we saw the black curtain that every Belieber at the concert wants to see. We knew he was behind it, and started freaking out almost immediately. The guy at the curtain was shouting, I need two more, two more people, and we yelled, we’re two!! My heart sank because I knew that meant we weren’t going to get to take a pic with him, just us two. But, I didn’t have time to dwell because this was it. There were 4 other girls that we had to go in with, and when the guy asked if we were ready, I think we all just about died. He pulled back the curtains, and I saw Fredo first, laughing and standing by the camera guy. I turned to my right and there he was. I swear I heard angels singing and almost fainted. Jenni ran up to him first, he was SO nice and gave her a big hug. I was next, and again got a huge hug like I was a friend he hadn’t seen in years. He was smiling from ear to ear, saying, “Hey guys, how are you”, and I’m pretty sure I made a total fool of myself and just said “Thank you for everything”. As everyone always says, he smelled amazing, and he was literally flawless. He gives great hugs too, that’s for sure. At this point, Jenni was on his left, and I made my way to his right side. He hugged the others and then it was time for our pic. I still had my arm around his shoulder from hugging him (cause I was not about to let go and lose my spot), and I knew it would look weird in the pic so I said, Justin I have to move my arm, and he said oh ok, that’s better, as I moved my arm around his waist. We took the pic, and I saw Alfredo still laughing, which was totally understandable; the m&gs have got to be the most entertaining part for him and the crew. As they led us out of the tent, Jenni got one last question in, and then it was all over. It lasted a maximum of 45 seconds I’m sure, but it was the best 45 seconds. As we fell out, we were in shock and screaming and I could hardly walk. We had to leave the arena through a door that had a huge group waiting to catch a glimpse of him, and everyone knew why we were so excited, which made me feel kinda bad cause I wish they could have met him to! Anyway, after that was the concert, and it was amazing, so amazing in fact that Jenni and I are going to Denver, Miami, and now San Jose to see him 3 more times . October 8th was one of the best days of my life, and I’m so grateful that no matter how famous and popular Justin gets, he still takes the time (even if its only a few seconds) to meet his fans. He really is the best, and I hope each and every one of you gets to meet him and have the same Bieber experience I did.  -Madison (@madstout)  Go here to see the original: I’m finally sitting down to share my experience meeting…

Apatow’s ‘This Is 40’ Is ‘Scenes From A Marriage’ With Laughs − And Viagra

Movieline  would like to welcome Pete Hammond to the pages of this site with a new column that we’re calling Hammond on Film.  If you love movies, then you’re probably familiar with Pete’s byline. He’s the Awards columnist for our sister site,  Deadline Hollywood,  as well as a veteran movie critic who has written more than 600 reviews for the best-selling  Leonard Maltin’s Movie Guide  and, most recently, was the film critic for Boxoffice Magazine and Boxoffice.com.  He has also reviewed features for  CNN.  For his first column, Pete takes a close look at Judd Apatow ‘s   This Is 40 , which opens Dec. 21. ‘This is 40’: The Sort-of-Sequel to ‘Knocked Up’ Revisiting the married supporting characters Pete and Debbie of his 2007 comedy hit,  Knocked Up , writer/director Judd Apatow has crafted his most personal and affecting film to date. In some respects,  This Is 40 is an Apatow home movie with Paul Rudd , returning as Pete, subbing for the director. Real-life wife Leslie Mann and daughters Iris and Maude Apatow taking on the same roles here, and it isn’t a stretch to think we’re watching the filmmaker’s life unfold  onscreen. Smart, funny and truthful in too many ways to count, Apatow, who’s actually 45,  picks up the story of Pete and Debbie’s marriage five years after we first met them. Both are facing 40th birthdays — although Debbie is fudging the truth — and Apatow uses this conceit to build an episodic look at their marital and familial ups and downs over the course of a month. This Is 40 is the most sharply observed and cutting edge of all four Apatow-directed efforts to date, and I suspect that’s because he’s really writing what he knows here. Yes, there is still plenty of Apatow’s trademark raunch, including an opening shower sex scene in which Pete reveals he has taken Viagra, much to Debbie’s chagrin. There’s also a self-inflicted prostate exam and a wild weekend in a hotel room, but  these scenes add up to more than just a collection of outlandish comic moments: This is 40 is such an honest, piercing look at middle-aged marriage that it recalls Ingmar Bergman’s Scenes From A Marriage in unexpected ways. Comparing the commercially successful Apatow to the critically revered Bergman is not something I’d ever thought possible but it is to the credit of a wise , if overlong , screenplay that his film enters that arena. Rather than heavy plotting we meet the family: There’s the overbearing older daughter Sadie, who’s embarrassed by her parents and married to everything wired , and her sweet younger sister Charlotte. There’s also Pete’s needy father ( Albert Brooks ) ,who is dependent on his son for money infusions, as well as Debbie’s aloof dad (John Lithgow), who reluctantly attends a family party that turns extremely awkward in terms of his attempts to renew his relationship with his daughter. Debbie also has a know-it-all trainer ( Jason Segel ) and co-workers in her clothing store business ( Megan Fox , Charlyne Yi) that she suspects of stealing from the cash register. From Pete’s fledgling business — he’s the owner of an indie record label that specializes in reviving moribund musical artists (like the proto-punk god Graham Parker, who plays himself) — we meet his associates. Chief among them is Ronnie, who’s nicely played by Chris O’Dowd ( Bridesmaids ). There’s also a very funny, if over-the-top encounter with a mother at the kids’ school that Melissa McCarthy plays to the hilt with her combustible comic style. But at the heart of This Is 40 is Pete and Debbie’s struggle to keep alive the family unit and the spark in a marriage that’s faded a bit. It’s this very relatable pair that makes the movie work so well. Just as Apatow does with his pungent script , Mann and Rudd manage to hit the exact right tone, walking a narrow line between comedy and drama and nailing it. Special kudos go to Mann, in her first genuine leading role, who has never been this appealing or real. She proves she not only has great comic instincts but real dramatic chops. Yes, these are scenes from the marriage of an upper, upper middle-class Brentwood family, but anyone in the delicate game of ongoing relationships should find plenty amusing, revealing and familiar in this movie. Apatow and family have provided a comedy for adults that is welcome relief this holiday season. I never imagined in a million years that I’d see Justin in…

I never imagined in a million years that I’d see Justin in real life, let alone meet him. My name is Sarah and I’m 13. It all started when the Believe Tour dates were released in May. Everyone was freaking out because of how unorganized everything was! I begged my mom to get me tickets and I’d pay her back. I remember crying for weeks thinking that I didn’t get tickets. Then on June 20th (my birthday), my dreams came true. In the card my mom wrote for me it said “You and me are going to see Justin Bieber on December 1st, 5th row!” I broke down bawling. The next thing I knew it was the day of the concert. It hadn’t hit me that I was seeing Justin because the day came so fast. I was so excited I didn’t eat, drink or sleep all day! I started getting ready at 7 a.m. and my mom called me downstairs to show me an email she got. It said: “Thank you for your purchase of the Ultimate VIP Meet & Greet Package! Gates open at 3:45.” I completely lost it. I was not prepared for this! When we got to the Rogers Centre we waited at the gate for 2 hours staring in the window. You could hear the dress rehearsal happening! Then a lady came out with a sign about the BELIEVE 3D MOVIE. Nobody knew about this yet so all 100 or so of us beliebers waiting screamed so loud! A cameraman came out minutes later and got all of us to sing and scream. When it was finally time to go inside for M&G my mom elbowed her way to the front of the line so we got to meet Justin first. We heard the dress rehearsal happening but we didn’t realize that it was actually Drake and Justin singing ‘Right Here’ & ‘The Motto.’ They lead us down to a parking garage where the M&G was happening and we waiting for 2 hours because Justin was running late. But that was the best time I ever had waiting in line because Kenny, Bruce, Diane, Dan & Pattie walked by and most of them said hi and waved. All of a sudden the security pulled me around to corner and I saw Justin through the curtain. That’s when I blanked out. He was so perfect, I can’t believe I saw him with my own eyes. They pushed me into the little room and I couldn’t walk so Justin pulled me to his side and said, “Hi, How are you?” In a whisper. I said “Good how are you?” All I remember is looking at my hand and seeing me touching him. He smelt so good and was so soft. I didn’t even realize they took a picture. I was just saying, “Can I have a hug?” when the security pushed me out. I was in so much shock. This happened in 2 seconds. Best 2 seconds of my life. I walked out and picked up my signed record and when I turned around to get one last glimpse of Justin I saw Fredo. I said “HI FREDO!’ and he turned around with the biggest smile on his face, said hi and waved. He looked just like you would imagine. I died inside. I left and met up with my friend @JDB_Lover22 and cried because she was just interviewed for his movie! The concert after that was amazing. I walked right up to the stage and I was so close, I saw sweat dripping and you could see every detail of his face. His voice was amazing and it was so loud! Justin had the biggest smile on his face the whole time. I also caught I chocolate coin Carly’s band threw. I would just like to thank Justin & the Bieber Crew for making my life. I am still determined to get a hug though. I would like to just say never say never and keep trying! It happened to me, a girl from a town a quarter the size of Stratford. IT CAN happen to you. -@We_Love_SellyG See original here: I never imagined in a million years that I’d see Justin in…
