Morgan Spurlock on His New Doc Mansome — and the Star Who Could Stand to Tweeze

Gone are the days of callouses and carpenter pants. Today, men are rocking skinny jeans and moccasins as they treat themselves to spa days, having no shame in getting waxed, tweezed, manicured and/or exposed to other meticulous grooming techniques. This ongoing — and slightly horrifying — “manscaping” trend is spreading throughout America and beyond, and Morgan Spurlock (along with executive producers Ben Silverman, Will Arnett and Jason Bateman) captured it all in their world premiere Tribeca documentary, Mansome . The film highlights everything from elite beardsmen (yes, it’s a sport) to wrestlers’ full-body shaving, but mostly focuses on candid interviews with some familiar Hollywood men. Movieline caught up with director Spurlock at the film’s premiere over the weekend, chatting about everything from the ongoing “manocolypse” to the Oscar-nominee’s top five manscaping tips. When you think of the manscaping trend, who comes to mind in Hollywood? Zach Galifianakis! That’s why we called him first. How much grooming does he do? None — that’s why he was perfect. You think of someone like a David Beckham, you know; you think of somebody like that. We immediately thought of Scott Ian from Anthrax because he’s been shaving around that crazy beard his whole life, and he’s one of the first people I called. You think of like these kind of perfect-looking actors and actresses, many of which wouldn’t talk to us, simply because they didn’t want to get into it. In reference to some of those guys, do you think that kind of seal look is good for anyone? Well, it seems to be good for Seal, I don’t know — it seems to work out! I feel like if you’re going to commit yourself, like really going for it, then you might as well go for it. I’m not quite that guy. I wasn’t even talking about Seal the musician — I was talking about a seal, like the body slickness of a fully-waxed man… Oh, like when they seal it all in? No, that’s not for me. What was the most exciting part about working with this group of men? Had you ever worked with them before? I had never worked with Will or Jason; I’d never worked with any of the guys in the film. I had met a lot of them and had said that I’d love to work with them sometime. When we called Zach for the film, he jumped at the chance. He said “Absolutely — come meet me at my place in North Carolina!” And he was great. I’ve been such a fan of Judd Apatow for so long, and Paul Rudd, so to have those guys to come in was great. And the characters that we follow in the film — Jack Passion, Shawn Daivari, Ricky [Manchanda] — to have these guys open their lives to us, to let us kind of follow them through these like manscaping rituals, you gotta be a brave guy; you gotta be really courageous to kind of open yourself up like that. I think we had really cool, courageous guys who realized that we were going to make a fun, funny film. Why do you think now was the right time to make this movie? You know, we’re in the midst of a manocolypse! We gotta help figure out what we need to do to help define masculinity today! What do you think are the top five things in the manscaping world? Well, there’s a lot of waxing; a lot of hairy guys waxing is a big one. Grooming is also a big one — making sure you shave your face or cut your hair. There’s a lot of guys with big caterpillar eyebrows… Peter Gallagher? Peter Gallagher may want to take a little something to the middle of that; it’s okay to do that these days. You don’t want to have the unibrow — not so en vogue anymore. I think you don’t want to have a bunch of grimey fingernails; I don’t ever want to see a guy with big, dirty fingernails. Unless you’re like a coal miner or you’re digging a ditch somewhere and that’s your job — like “I dig ditches” or “I dig mud all day! That’s what I do.” — you can’t just go around all day with scrub in there. Do you think women are more attracted to men that manscape? I think that what attracts you initially is how you look. I think ultimately you are attracted to someone at first because of “X,” no matter what it is; there’s something about those pheromones that they’re sending out, and you want them, for whatever reason that is. And then you start to understand who they are and what they’re about, and you continue to stay attracted to them once you peel back the layers. But I do think that we are a judgmental society, and you want to be attracted to them first. But then once you start to talk to them, then you realize, “Wow, you are a completely terrible, shallow person. I don’t want to be around you anymore.” And then you realize that what really matters is all the stuff that’s in here. [Points to head] All the pretty people that I’ve gone out with aren’t the pretty people that I’ve stayed with; I’ve usually stayed with people that have much more to offer from the inside. Is that the advice that you’re going to give to your son? I’m going to tell my son, “Marry the most ugly woman that you can — she’s going to be the best to you of all time.” Read all of Movieline’s Tribeca 2012 coverage here . Will Ferrell, Zach Galifianakis Are ‘Deluded Losers’ In ‘The Campaign’

Director Jay Roach tells MTV News the comedy takes win-at-all-costs politics to an ‘absurd degree.’ By Kevin P. Sullivan Zach Galifanakis and Will Ferrell in “The Campaign” Photo: Warner Bros For the past few years, Jay Roach , the director of the “Austin Powers” series, has alternated between making comedies and true-life political films for HBO. His latest effort, “The Campaign,” combines those two very different genres. In “The Campaign,” which hits theaters on August 10 Will Ferrell plays a popular incumbent North Carolina congressman who suffers a scandal and faces a political opponent for the first time in year, played by Zach Galifianakis . We spoke with Roach for our Summer Movie Preview and learned just how ridiculous politics can be and what it’s like to have Ferrell and Galifianakis on set together. MTV : You’ve been switching between political films and comedies recently. What’s it like to combine the two? Jay Roach : That’s been an enjoyable part of this one. I’ve been working on some more serious films at HBO, but Will and Zach and Adam McKay came up with this idea and asked me to get involved about two guys running against each other for a congressional seat and mentioned that it would mostly be about how the win-at-all-costs approach to politics these days could be taken to an absurd degree. It might be funny. I pictured those two guys, Zach and Will. I’ve worked with both of them briefly on other films, and the idea of those two going up against each other in a super, super negative campaigning situation made me laugh. It would be a chance to delve back into some of the political issues but in a very comedic format. MTV : Do you find politics funny? Roach : It’s funny, but it’s painful. It’s painful that it does get absurd. There’s definitely humor, but when you’re doing it about real-life situations, it makes me anxious. It’s uncomfortable. I spent a fair amount of time to put people back into uncomfortable situations that they, in a certain way, wish to avoid because they already happened. I’m trying not to let them forget about them. It’s a painful thing to ask the audience to go through. It’s a little therapeutic in a different way to laugh through it, as opposed to cry through, because I found myself crying through the other stories. This one, I’m laughing. MTV : Did doing those political films before help you make this political comedy? Roach : It did help that I had a little bit of a background and had done a little bit of research. I’m still very na

How Hollywood Scrambled for the Rick Ross Biopic: ‘Like Blow, But With Crack’!

After today’s big Rich Ross news , I can’t pass up the chance to share a Rick Ross item. As in “Freeway” Rick Ross, the notorious ’80s drug lord with ties to Iran-Contra/social networking guru/film producer who has a Nick Cassavetes -penned biopic in the works (not to be confused with Rick Ro$$ the rapper). It’s early yet, but with Scarface producer Martin Bregman allegedly interested, the former drug kingpin gave Shadow & Act an update on the project. Ross and his business partner/attorney/former deputy D.A. Antonio Moore discussed the status of Ross’ biopic, written and set to be directed by Cassavetes: Ross : Let me tell you…I was out of jail one week and I was sitting in the office with Michael Lynton from Sony Pictures, Ari Emanuel from William Morris Endeavor’s office, Jeff Berg, Spencer Baumgarten of CAA and there was another guy who was the president of Universal Pictures at the time but I can’t remember his name…All these guys tried to tell me my movie wasn’t that valuable and I should cut ties with it, let them take it and do it the way they thought it should be done. Moore : I was at the Jeff Berg meeting myself and what he said was this story is very much “new content” and Hollywood right now is having major problems finding new content that resonates. He also said the script right now, which was written by Nick Cassavetes (screenwriter of Blow , director of Johnny Q and The Notebook ), has four nominations. We’ve made contacts with several black actors who we want in the picture, like Mike Epps, but most notably we’ve made a connection with Jamie Foxx. We’re in discussions to get him to play the lead possibly. He’s read the script and talked to Rick about it. One week out of prison and Hollywood was sniffing around. Of course. “It’s like the film Blow but with crack,” Moore explained. (Fun!) “It has narration and it tells the story from three different perspectives.” Ross’s Freeway Productions, meanwhile, has already produced its first feature — the horror pic The Lost Coast Tapes . ‘Total Recall’ Remake Heads In ‘A Different Direction’ From Original

Director Len Wiseman tells MTV News about Kate Beckinsale going bad and Bryan Cranston’s complex villain. By Kara Warner Colin Farrell in “Total Recall” Photo: Sony Pictures We still have a while to wait for the August 3 release of the new “Total Recall,” but now that we’ve seen and obsessed over the official full-length trailer , we have a better idea of what to expect from Len Wiseman’s re-telling of the classic Philip K. Dick story, as well as how it compares to the 1990 cult favorite starring Arnold Schwarzenegger and directed by Paul Verhoeven. In addition to providing MTV News with his expert commentary about the well-received trailer , Wiseman also gave us some in-depth insight into how he’s handled the precedents and expectations set by Verhoeven’s film, how closely the 2012 film sticks to Dick’s original story, as well as what fans can appreciate and expect from stars Colin Farrell and a villainous Kate Beckinsale . MTV : How much fun has incorporating all the new technology been? Wiseman : It’s great. And, I will be honest: It’s a blessing and a curse for me, because I’m so of a school of practical effects and practical stunts. And when you develop a movie like this, which is an entire world you’re creating, you can only build so much, and then you go into your effects world. And actually, there’s a lot of practical elements in here that people assume are CG, because CG is used so often. In the trailer, we did this really complicated shot of Colin doing a fight sequence shootout. The camera is spinning around, it’s 100 percent practical. And it’s funny when I really kicked the “how much time and how expensive” nightmare kind of math in to figure that all out and everything to put in, and what surprised me is a lot of people think that is CG. I think because you maybe don’t immediately process how that’s being done. But it’s funny, because I look at that and go, “That’s actually the shot that’s entirely 100 percent practical.” So I really do find it a blessing and a curse, because I started as a prop guy. I actually started building models initially and then went into the prop department, and I’m so much of a practical mind. But then you get into a point where, “OK, now we have to build a world that is 100 and some odd years in the future.” And your construction budget, that’s a surprise. MTV : How will fans be impressed by Colin’s performance? Wiseman : I think they’re absolutely going to love him. It’s a very different take on the character. It’s much more of the internal struggle that he’s faced with, and he did such a great job with this mystery of his own soul, really. It’s such a mystery, this film. It’s got the action and sci-fi, everything hovering on the perimeter of what makes it feel like a big action film. But in its core, it’s a mystery, and it’s a mystery of himself. And I just think people will be really captivated by following his journey. He really does allow you to be him. So I really think they’ll be excited by him. MTV : What about seeing Kate Beckinsale playing a villain? Wiseman : It’s fun for us as well. She’s never done anything like that. So to be able to have some fun with playing a villain — and she had fun doing it too, because she’s always like, “You have to be so earnest when you’re saving the world. Wow, you can actually just loosen up and just, the bad guys have more fun.” I would love to get, I’ll probably put this out on the DVD, but these girls are just kicking each other’s asses and really brutal. We wanted to attack it. It was just a really vicious brawl, and in between the cuts, they both get so girly. Right on “cut.” There’s plenty of times when Kate actually just nicked Jessica [Biel]’s nose or same thing with Jessica, and they immediately just go from these vicious badass lethal killers to immediately very apologetic and very polite and girly. It’s great to see. MTV : Will we see Mars? Wiseman : We won’t see Mars. And I got to say, it’s one of the things that attracted me to the script, because I really, I along with a lot of other people, I really loved the Verhoeven film. I was very skeptical on just the reboot, just the idea. And until I read the script, with a lot of speculation going, it takes it in such a different direction from that film. Because it didn’t go to Mars, funny enough, is why I was interested. And it’s also just like I said: It plays a little bit into the threat of what the Philip K. Dick story had of, much more of bringing the threat back, really Doug’s mission to save Earth, not Mars. MTV : What can you tell us about getting Bryan Cranston? Wiseman : He’s got one really fun personality. I think a lot of people, if you’ve seen him in his prior TV show, I’m sure, I happened to be introduced to him through films and then “Breaking Bad” as well. I’ve never seen “Malcolm in the Middle,” and I was taken by how fun and charming and funny the guy is. I probably came late to that game. That’s no surprise to anyone else. He really has a balance of evil and charming, which I really like. He plays off great [with Colin]. I wish they actually had more scenes together. It’s a bit of a weird structure, where the villain is kind of split between Kate and Cranston. So when they’re together, though, it’s great. He’s really got a good balance there, where when there’s a pure tendency that a lot of people have to play just very villainous, he has a little bit more passion for what he’s doing, where you actually believe it is the right thing, rather than twirling your mustache a bit too much. It’s Summer Movie Preview Week, and MTV News will be bringing you exclusive interviews, clips and photos for the most anticipated summer movies . From Deer Hunter to Bridesmaids 2: Judd Apatow and Robert De Niro Toast Universal at Tribeca

The first full day of Tribeca 2012 yielded at least one major highlight, as festival co-founder Robert De Niro and comedy mogul Judd Apatow joined Deadline’s Mike Fleming for a discussion commemorating the 100th anniversary of Universal Pictures. (Fellow Universal blockbustress Meryl Streep, alas, backed out at the last minute due to illness.) At least, that was the plan ; what ensued was a wide-ranging, freewheeling chat about the pair’s work for the studio, the natures of their comedy, varying sequel statuses, and much more. As per Tribeca custom , read on for this years revelations from from De Niro and Co. Without De Niro’s Cape Fear remake, Apatow might not be who he is today “One of first important milestones of my career was [when] I created The Ben Stiller Show with Ben,” Apatow said. “And the sketch that got us picked up was the Cape Fear parody. Have you ever seen that?” “No, I didn’t know that,” De Niro said dryly. “Do you have a lot of friends who want to show you parodies of you, or are they afraid to?” Apatow asked. “Sometimes,” De Niro replied. “So we studied that movie shot-for-shot, and then Ben was dressed up like Eddie Munster,” Apatow explained. ” Cape Munster . That’s how we got the how picked up.” The filmmaker gestured back to the screen, invoking the epic Universal clip reel that opened the event. “The rest I didn’t care for.” De Niro didn’t like The Deer Hunter ‘s poster And according to him, there’s even a better design somewhere out there. “I was given the script by Michael Cimino, and I liked it very much,” De Niro recounted of his first experience on a Universal film. “I even liked the way it was presented. The cover of the script read ‘ The Deer Hunter ,’ and it was a character against a white Cadillac with a deer strapped on to the hood, and he had a shotgun hung over his arm. And I felt it would have been great for the actual poster of the movie instead of the more complicated kind of poster that I didn’t think worked very well.” (Apatow later chimed in: “When The Deer Hunter came out, I was 10 years old. We had the VHS of it, I watched it, and that’s how I became this.”) Neither Apatow nor Universal are about to apologize for Funny People Fleming asked Apatow about the tonal change of pace — and commercial downshift of fortune — that the director experienced with his 2009 film. “I think it’s important for people to make movies that are deeply personal,” Apatow said. “I think you have to be willing to push it, and when you do things that are intimate, there are some people who are like, ‘I was at work all day today, and I don’t give a shit what you’re upset about in your life.’ And there are the people who really want to feel other emotions than just pain or watching the bad guy get beaten. So you’re always going into more difficult territory when the move isn’t about making you happy, but it’s about why comedians are in pain — much like…” Apatow turned to De Niro and paused for dramatic effect. ” The King of Comedy . I’m bringing you into it!” Fleming followed up by asking Apatow what the conversations with Universal were like as the film came together as the challenging piece it was. “In all honesty,” Apatow said, “they loved the movie and were supportive through the entire creative process and when it came out. It’s been an amazing experience for me working with them. They want me to grow and get better at what I do, and part of that is for me to take risks and try new things. And it was never weird. I’ve had weird. I’ve been on planes coming back from the test screening of The Cable Guy . I know what it’s like when people are like, ‘Oh my God. What are we going to do?’ I’m like, ‘It’s great , isn’t it?'” The Bridesmaids sequel is still in limbo “You know, I don’t know,” Apatow said when asked about the status of a follow-up to last year’s Oscar-nominated blockbuster, which he produced. “It took five years to make it; I think there’s some exhaustion from having made it. I think down the line we’ll see if people are reinvigorated to want do it or not. I would like to see a sequel to…” Again, Apatow faced De Niro and hesitated. ” The Deer Hunter .” The Midnight Run sequel may be writing around Charles Grodin The development of the recently announced Midnight Run 2 was thought to hinge heavily on the participation of Grodin, who brilliantly played De Niro’s foil in the 1987 comedy classic. But to hear De Niro tell it, the writers might have an answer for that. “Somebody had approached me — a young writer — and he had said how much he liked it. And he said, ‘What about writing a sequel if you want?’ I said, ‘Fine, sure.’ So it’s been going through these kind of changes. [… De iro’s character Jack Walsh] is helping the son of Charles Grodin. He’s gotten himself in trouble. That’s where we are. The script is being reworked again. But I hope to do it. It was a lot of fun to do.” De Niro always had a feeling he could do comedy Asked about how he transitioned to comic roles from his celebrated dramatic roles of the ’70s, De Niro cited those very same roles as his comedic inspiration. “You know, Taxi Driver had a few funny things in it. Mean Streets , King of Comedy … They weren’t obvious ‘comedies,’ but they were funny. The comedy was out of situations, the irony or whatever.” ” Goodfellas is hilarious!” Apatow half-joked. “I saw it in the movie theater and it just rocked the house!” “Joe Pesci’s scene with Ray Liotta is a hysterical scene, yeah,” De Niro said. ” Analyze This came from Billy Crystal, who had the idea. Billy had a script and thought it’d be fun if I did that. And somebody tod me about it but said they didn’t know. I said, ‘No, it sounds interesting. Let me see. Let’s get together and talk about it. And then we had a reading of it and so on, and figured it out. But I never had a problem thinking I could be funny — especially that kind of character, since he’s bigger than life anyway.” Apatow is all for seeing movies on your phone Surprised? Don’t be: “Anything that allows me to watch a film while going to the bathroom is awesome.” De Niro isn’t totally averse to Raging Bull 2 ” I don’t know about it,” he said to a laugh from the crowd. “I mean… Maybe if it’s a great, great script? Have you read it?” “It’s great,” Fleming said. “Oh,” De Niro replied, tongue mostly in cheek. “Then I’d consider it. Sure.” Apatow’s only acting experience is a… Jack in the Box commercial Asked if he would consider starring in a film, Apatow didn’t hesitate. “I am a bad actor,” he said. “I learned that in a Jack in the Box commercial when I was 20. I was reading the lines, which were about how good the burger was, and I kept pointing to it. I couldn’t stop pointing . And the director of the commercial taped my hands to my legs, and I never acted again.” “But he did hire you?” De Niro asked. “Yes, I got work from here up,” Apatow said, waving his hand above his neck. “Well, that’ll give you something,” De Niro said. “If I was in it for his own amusement, it would have been like a scene from Fame .” Pronto! From Deer Hunter to Bridesmaids 2: Judd Apatow and Robert De Niro Toast Universal at Tribeca

My name is Jess, I’m 15 years old and I’m from Pennsylvania….

My name is Jess, I’m 15 years old and I’m from Pennsylvania. I’ve been a huge fan of Justin from the start. On Justin’s official Facebook page he would reply to people’s comments on his wall because he wasn’t as famous yet. So, I decided to write on his wall and see if he would answer. On July 5 th , 2009   he answered me.  He said “its me…and go after your dreams.” AHHH!! On December 15 th , 2009 I finally got to meet Justin Bieber. My friends and I got VIP passes for Pop-Con. We got to meet Justin and Selena Gomez. I can’t even describe how excited I was. We waited for 3 hours in line to meet him. When it was finally my turn to get a picture with him I just froze! When I walked up to him he gave me a big hug and we took the picture. After he said, “Are you excited for the show?” I said… YEAH!! I was in shock. He gave me a hug goodbye and I left. I was so happy that I finally got to meet him, if only it lasted for more than 2 minutes! That night I stayed at a hotel across from the concert. Justin’s dancers and Dan Kanter were staying there and were in the lobby. My friends and I got pictures with all of them and talked to them. I saw Dan Kanter standing by himself so I walked up to him and we started talking. I asked him, “Do you wear that hat to all the concerts?” He laughed and said that he LOVES that hat. He was so friendly that we talked for a while. That was just the start of My Bieber Experience. I’ve seen Justin in concert 7 times. At Pop-Con, q102 Jingle Ball ’09, q102 Jingle Ball ’10, and 4 of his My World Tour concerts. In Trenton NJ, at the Wells Fargo Center, MADISON SQUARE GARDEN and in Allentown. At the Trenton NJ concert, I even met one of Justin’s dancers, Marvin Millora. I gave Marvin a CHUCK NORRIS poker chip to give Justin, because I know he LOVES Chuck. After the concert, I tweeted Marvin to see if Justin ever got the chip. And what do you know… He tweeted me back! Marvin said, “Yes he did actually.” I was so excited! I REALLY wanted to go to the Madison Square Garden concert because that is where he was shooting his movie! I begged my dad to get my sister and I tickets but he said it was too late. 2 days before the concert my dad told me he got us tickets! My sister and I sat in a box suite and watched the best concert of our lives! My friends and I got VIP tickets for the Allentown concert and sat in row 6. This was the closest I’ve ever sat at one of his concerts. At this concert we got to go to sound check and go to a lunch with Justin’s backup singers, Legacy, Jessica Jarrell and Vita Chambers! My friends and I talked to Micah, one of the singers, most of the time. He was SO nice!! After the concert, my friends and I went to the tour busses and hung out with the dancers, Legacy, Dan Kanter, Kenny, and Ryan Good. When I was talking with Dan, he said to me “You look so familiar,” I was freaking out inside because he must of remembered talking to me at the hotel. My sister was with us and she thought Nick Demoura was REALLY cute; they were talking for a while! All of a sudden she goes “I’m hungry,” Nick had food so he gave my sister a bite of what he was eating! I was cracking up. Justin’s crew is so welcoming and friendly. I was one of the lucky winners to win an autograph of Justin’s and a piece of the Never Say Never film! That was very special. I won’t say that my Bieber experience has officially ended because hopefully it never will.  I hope to meet Justin and his crew again! -@jp_jbforeverr Original post: My name is Jess, I’m 15 years old and I’m from Pennsylvania….

‘The Dictator’ Is ’90 Percent Improv,’ Anna Faris Says

‘You sort of go with it and wait until somebody calls cut,’ actress tells MTV News of the ‘general chaos’ on set of the Sacha Baron Cohen flick. By Fallon Prinzivalli Sacha Baron Cohen and Anna Faris in “The Dictator” Photo: Paramount When MTV News spoke with Anna Faris about her role in the upcoming film, it was everything you’d expect from an interview with the comic actress. Her humorous disposition led to quite a few laughs while we got the scoop on her latest flick. In the movie, Faris plays Zoey, a liberal idealist with a good heart who runs an organic, vegan grocery store in Brooklyn. When she meets General Aladeen (Baron Cohen) at a protest, she thinks he’s a refugee and jumps at the opportunity to help him. When we spoke to the “Scary Movie” actress, she opened up about the challenges of her role (in particular having to grow out her underarm hair), Baron Cohen’s stunt at the 2012 Academy Awards and his crazy antics on set. MTV : Zoey is a physical departure from your usual leading-lady roles in films like “The House Bunny” and “What’s Your Number?” What was it that led you to choose this script? Anna Faris : I’ve been such a big fan of Sacha’s for years and I just jumped at the opportunity to get to work with him. I was just thrilled. That was really exciting for me. I love, in general, just getting to transform myself for characters. That’s really an exciting process for me. When they presented me with a more androgynous look, I thought that was just perfect. You know, this is the kind of girl that the dictator has never met before. He’s used to sleeping with models and actresses, these really stunning women, so for a while he thinks that I’m a boy. MTV : Was there anything challenging for you about the role? Faris : Not so much the role, but the project was really challenging because Sacha and his whole crew, all the writers and our director, they’ve worked together for so long and they do so much improv. It’s like 90 percent improv, and so the challenge was just keeping up with that as an actor, just being on your toes. I found it really hard, but also really exciting. MTV : Of course, we have to ask: What was it like working with Baron Cohen? Faris : It was amazing. He’s just this sort of crazy genius. You just have to be prepared for anything. The scene [can go] in a gazillion different directions and you just have to sort of roll with the punches. But it was great, I loved it. I just adore him. He was in character a lot of the time, but when he wasn’t, he’s a really kind gentleman — really intellectual and very funny. I just adored him. MTV/b> : You said he was in character most of the time. Would you approach him in character as well? Faris : [ Laughs ] Yeah, I kind of would! Like, “OK, wait, is this the…? Oh, wait, he’s the supreme leader.” It was a little tricky for me because my character isn’t supposed to know that he’s a dictator. So I was like, “Well, do I then? Maybe? I don’t know? I’ll just go to craft services.” MTV : With all the improvisation, did you have a hard time keeping a straight face on set? Faris : Yeah, a lot of times! I mean, I feel really fortunate that I had the “Scary Movie” experience because I feel like that sort of prepared me for a lot of the general chaos of the set of “The Dictator,” so I just felt like you sort of go with it and wait until somebody calls cut. Until then, you just keep acting. MTV : He’s known to make people uncomfortable, like his stunt at the Oscars where he poured fake ashes on Ryan Seacrest. Did he ever do anything that made you think, “OK, where is the nearest exit? How can I escape this?” Faris : [ Laughs ] No! He was actually so sweet to me. I sort of escaped all that. But he was always, you know, such a gentleman. I didn’t know what it was going to be, but I did know that something was sort of afoot for the Oscars. And my husband [Chris Pratt] and I went and I saw Sacha, and I was like, “Honey, we just need to steer clear. I don’t know what’s going to happen, but let’s just sort of avoid Sacha.” MTV : Do you have a favorite memory from shooting? Faris : There’s a scene where Sacha and I are sort of forming our friendship in an intimate way, [ laughs ] and that’s really fun. I had to grow my armpit hair for the movie. MTV News : How was that? Faris : It was awful! I was so naive about it too. I was like, “Yeah, I’ll grow it out. No big deal.” MTV News : Did your husband say anything about it? Faris : He was such a good sport about it. He was like, “Yeah, honey! You do it. Just go.” But he also didn’t have to be around me too much that summer. I thought it would be, you know, fluffy and light, I guess. But it was so dark and thick and coarse. It was crazy. I felt very self-conscious about it. Maybe I was a little bit of a baby about it. MTV News : Before we sign off, can you tell us your favorite joke? Faris : Oh, my favorite joke! OK, let’s see. A little boy and his grampa … wait, oh no, I won’t tell you that one. It’s a little raunchy. But I will tell you this one: There’s two blondes and there’s a river in between them and one blonde says to the other blonde, “Hey, how do I get to the other side?” And the other blonde says, “You’re already there!” Yep. Pretty dumb. Are you excited to see “The Dictator”? Let us know in the comments! WATCH: Channing Tatum, Male Strippers, and Romance in the Magic Mike Trailer — ‘Nuff Said

The more I see of Steven Soderbergh ‘s Magic Mike , the higher it climbs up my most-anticipated list. Here’s why: Shirtless Channing Tatum. Sensitive Channing Tatum. Dancing Channing Tatum! A cute romance with total girl next door Cody Horn. Rihanna on the soundtrack! They found love in a pantsless place, you guys . Watch the full trailer after the jump. Beefcake! Sure, we have no idea how Shirtless Alex Pettyfer or Absent-from-the-Trailer Matt Bomer or Joe Manganiello figure into the plot. And I’m 99 percent sure most male strip clubs don’t have this high a percentage of young, hot lady customers. But I do want to know what Channing has to do for those $20s. Head to Apple for the trailer debut in HD. Verdict: I hereby declare June 29 the official ladies movie night of the summer. Who’s with me?
