Ex-NBA Player Rasual Butler and Wife Dead In Car Crash https://t.co/1aysk6fABj — TMZ (@TMZ) February 1, 2018 As TMZ reports, during the early morning hours of January 31, Rasual Butler and wife Leah LaBelle were both pronounced dead after being involved in a deadly single car crash in California. Butler and LaBelle are survived by their families, including his daughter Raven Butler from a previous relationship. Via TMZ: Ex-NBA player Rasual Butler and his wife — a singer who appeared on “American Idol” — were both killed in a single car crash in Studio City, CA early Wednesday morning, TMZ Sports has learned. 38-year-old Butler — who was drafted by the Miami Heat in 2002 — lost control of his Range Rover around 2 AM, struck a parking meter and slammed into a wall. The car flipped. Officers believe the car was speeding before it lost control. Butler had a long NBA career after an impressive run at La Salle — where he was a 2-time First Team All-Atlantic 10 Player. He’s a member of the La Salle Hall of Athletics. He went on to play in the NBA until 2016 — with stints on the Hornets, Clippers, Bulls, Raptors, Pacers, Wizards and Spurs. Rasual most recently played in Ice Cube’s BIG3 league. Butler’s wife Leah LaBelle, 31, was an R&B singer who was signed to Epic Records. She placed 12th on the 3rd Season of “American Idol” back in 2004. Fellow NBA and entertainment industry stars expressed their condolences and memories of the young couple, including Kobe Bryant, Pharrell Williams, Shaquille O’Neal, Allen Iverson, Nia Long, Bryan Michael Cox and Ray Allen. With fans already planning their outfit choices and pre-game plans for the film’s premiere, the pre-sale tickets are breaking records with each passing day. #BlackPanther Fandango pre-sales outpacing all superhero movies https://t.co/EmDY0OMjTq — Variety (@Variety) January 31, 2018 Per Variety , movie tickets website Fandango is reporting that the anticipation for Black Panther has reached a relative frenzy, as pre-sales for the film are topping all previous superhero movies. In late January it was projected that Black Panther could see an opening weekend within the $100-$120 million range. Early reviews have been stellar, which is likely one reason for such record-breaking advanced sales. Via Variety: Disney-Marvel’s “Black Panther” is outpacing all superhero movies in advance ticket sales for Fandango’s online tickets service, eclipsing 2016’s “Batman v Superman.” Fandango reported Wednesday that “Black Panther” had topped daily ticket sales in the wake of its world premiere and first screenings on Monday night — even though it doesn’t open in theaters until Feb. 16. According to a Fandango survey of more than 1,000 “Black Panther” moviegoers: 97% are looking forward to a different kind of superhero movie; 95% look forward to the film’s positive messages; 93% said they couldn’t wait to see Chadwick Boseman in his own “Black Panther” movie after seeing him in “Captain America: Civil War;” 86% are excited to see the film’s all-female guards/warriors, the Dora Milaje; and 85% are intrigued by the film’s exotic setting in the mythical African kingdom of Wakanda. “The buzz on ‘Black Panther’ is electric,” Fandango managing editor Erik Davis said. “Early screening audiences say it is one of Marvel’s best movies ever, and the positive word-of-mouth is helping drive the movie’s spectacular advance ticket sales.” With a Hollywood premiere that was full of #BlackExcellence coupled with the official start of Black History Month, expect those opening weekend projections to be a little off because Black Panther will likely have a higher opening weekend profit than currently predicted. Last year, the world learned that Ewan McGregor split from his wife of 22 years . Some say that they separated last Spring, but the secret got out when Ewan was spotted kissing Mary Elizabeth Winstead. Whoops. Well, now Ewan is taking things a step further — because he's filed for divorce. Ewan's 15-year-old daughter is not taking it well. And, as you can see in the video below, she's baring her soul in a song that kind of roasts her dad. Ewan McGregor is one of those actors on whom everybody's mom has a crush. Or maybe I'm generalizing? Anyway, he's best known for his role as Obi-Wan Kenobi in the Star Wars prequel trilogy. Most recently, though, Ewan McGregor starred on Fargo . And do you know who one of his costars was? Mary Elizabeth Winstead. In one of those life-immitates-art scenarios that seem to happen when there's a middle-aged man spending a lot of time with a beautiful younger woman, the two went from sharing scenes to sharing kisses in public. It's believed by many that Ewan McGregor may have separated from his wife, Eve Mavrakis, some time in the Spring of 2017. Ewan's family has characterized this as a mid-life crisis. Ewan is 46 years old. Together, he and Eve have four children. TMZ reports that Ewan McGregor has filed for divorce , citing irreconcilable differences. He's filing for joint custody and expressed a willingness to pay spousal support. TMZ mentions that their sources say that there's no pre-nup in place, so this could be a very costly split — with their shared property being split in half. (A photo of Ewan in much younger days, closer to the time when he and Eve tied the knot) It may be that Ewan isn't too concerned about money at present because he anticipates a revival of his Star Wars career. At this year's Golden Globes , Ewan McGregor was sporting a beard reminiscent of his Obi-Wman role. Additionally, rumors have been circulating that an Obi-Wan film is in the works, though Disney has yet to confirm this. It will reportedly begin filming in 2019. We don't imagine that he'll be locking lips with Mary Elizabeth Winstead in that — Obi-Wan's only canon love interest was Duchess Satine of Mandalore, and she died before the events of Revenge of the Sith . But if he comes out of this divorce hurting financially, an influx of cash from Disney might be just the balm that he needs. But there's more than one way to be hurt. Did you know that those kissing photos with Mary Elizabeth Winstead surfaced on the birthday of Ewan McGregor's 15-year-old daughter, Esther McGregor? October 22nd. Divorce is an important option for so many couples, but more often than not, it's hell on kids. Some children blame themselves. Others feel betrayed by a parent who seems to be tearing apart their family. Esther McGregor clearly falls in the latter category. In a video posted to Instagra, Esther sings a song that she wrote. She all but spells out that it's about her father's new relationship. She even throws in a line about the world (herself included) seeing her dad kiss his new girlfriend on Esther's birthday. In the lyrics, Esther responds to the “s–t” she “found online” with: “I don’t know to forgive. I don’t know if I can. Ruining me.” She has a lovely voice. We're sorry for what she's going through. Divorce, as a process, can be hell. There's really nothing that you can tell the kids to show them the light at the end of the tunnel. This is a very healthy way for her to express herself. Taylor Swift levels of mutual loathing. 50 is currently promoting the movie Den of Thieves , in which he co-stars with O’Shea Jackson. During a recent radio interview, Jackson joked that as a youth, he was a fan of Ja’s … but that changed abruptly when he heard 50’s debut album. 50 Cent on Ja Rule Apparently, Ja spends his days waiting for news alerts about himself, because he responded immediately: “Fun hip hop FACT: @50cent is P–Y…” Ja tweeted, showcasing the razor-sharp wit that made one of his era’s most forgettable rappers. Many fans were quick to point out that 50 still has a career, whereas Ja likely longs for the three square meals and free utilities he enjoyed during his extended stay at Riker’s Island. “Lol you sure you want to do this ? You remember what happened last time???” tweeted one observer, prompting Ja to respond: “Yeah I do @50cent got beat up, stabbed and shot what do you remember???” 50 famously loves beef, but amazingly he didn’t take the bait. That turned out to be the right move, as Ja was left to twist in wind, simultaneously talking trash in a public forum and scolding fans for being too interested in public trash talk: “Some of you are waaay to invested in this corny 100-year-old beef lol… f-ckin weirdos!!! Both of these walking throwbacks have chosen to continue engaging in battles, despite the fact that they no longer rap.
