While discussing the underwhelming first trailer for The Hangover Part II recently, director Todd Phillips bemoaned the fact that he couldn’t reveal all the good stuff in the marketing . “[T]he truth is, we’re constrained by the fact that we’re R-rated, so you can’t give — even the trailer you just saw, that’s a PG-13 trailer, so by the nature of the movie, we’re holding so much stuff back just because you can’t show it.” Maybe he should have held back even more? Rodriguez/ Getty Images Casting for the most anticipated love triangle since Edward, Bella and Jacob is now complete. On Monday, Lionsgate announced that Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth would star as Peeta Mellark and Gale Hawthorne alongside Jennifer Lawrence’s Katniss Everdeen in the big-screen adaptation of “The Hunger Games.” The news came on the heels of rumors that the two were front-runners among the pack of Hollywood’s young men auditioning for the coveted roles. Yet, despite a bit of early warning, “Hunger Games” fans and experts alike were largely surprised by the casting news. “I think we were a little bit shocked, especially when the rumors first broke last week that Josh and Liam were the front-runners,” said Amanda Belcher of the Hob . “We hadn’t really expected that out of all the people that were listed on the short list of people for both Peeta and Gale.” Fan reactions have ranged from pleased (@The SiennaSkye: “Josh Hutcherson was cast as Peeta Mellark!? YES! They picked a cutie!! (:”) to outraged (@meggiedear: “Worst. Casting. News. Ever. [Especially 4 Gale]. R.I.P. Hunger Games movie”). Yet, Belcher said many initially wary fans have changed their tune since the news first sent the Internet ablaze. “Surprisingly, I feel like when the official news got posted, they’ve come around a little bit,” she said. “There’s still quite a few who say, ‘I’m not going to watch this movie. I’m so upset at this casting.’ Then there’s a lot of them that say, ‘You know what? These aren’t our first choices, and we don’t really like them, but we’re going to put our trust in Lionsgate.’ ” One of the chief concerns among fans seems to be that Hutcherson and Hemsworth don’t closely resemble the characters from the book — an issue that was also raised following Lawrence’s casting. “I have a hard time picturing Josh and Liam as Peeta and Gale, but I want to give them the benefit of the doubt,” said “Hunger Games” Examiner Sara Gundell. Mockingjay.net administrator Kimmy West said most fans stuck on the actors’ looks will most likely get onboard once they see the stars’ chemistry and performances for themselves. “[The actors] have to prove to the fans that they’re the good person for the role. Jaden Smith is subjected to cast opposite to his father, Will Smith. On Monday, Sony pictures have announced that Will and Jaden Smith will be casting in an untitled sci-fi film, which is directed by M. Night Shyamalan. But previously in October, Will Smith reportedly has signed in Shyamalan’s sci-fi project entitled as ‘One Thousand A.E’. Currently, there is news that the title was lost but they stated that they have gained a tiny Smith. According to the Sony Pictures studio, the film is expected to set thousand years in the future. The story then develops when a young boy find the way an abandoned and sometimes scary Earth in order to save himself and his estranged father after their ship crashes. In the press release, Shyamalan said that the chance to make a scary, science-fiction movie starring Jaden Smith and Will Smith is his dream project. The Karate Kid fame Jaden Smith has taken the movie over $350 million. He was nominated for the ‘Teen Choice Award’, ‘Image Award’ and also in the ‘Black Reel Award’. Earlier, he also starred opposite to Keanu Reeves and Jennifer Connelly in the movie named, ‘The Day the Earth Stood Still’. The director M. Night Shyamalan has directed nine films which are Praying with Anger, Wide Awake, The Sixth Sense, Sings, Lady in the Water, Unbreakable, The Village, The Happening and the Last Airbender. Tyler Perry is going to take off his dress again and go looking for love. According to Blackfilm.com the award winning director and actor is slated to direct, produce and star in a romantic comedy called Good Deeds. “It’s about a guy that’s torn between the girl he’s going to get married to and a new girl that he just meets and he falls in love with,” Perry said during the the CinemaCon awards in Vegas. “So that’s a little different for me.” The next installment in Perry’s cross-dressing grandma series, Madea’s Big Happy Family is set for theatrical release on April 22. Perry has only played a man in three of his films, The Family That Preys and Why Did I Get Married? (1 and 2). ‘If they don’t necessarily see you in the part, that can be an issue,’ actress tells MTV News of book series’ loyal readers. Naturally, the summer blockbusters garner their fair share of enthusiasm, but recently, a lot of talk has turned toward the much-buzzed-about book-to-screen adaptations of young adult novels such as “The Hunger Games” and “The Mortal Instruments.” Speaking to director Scott Stewart’s adaptation of “Mortal Instruments,” MTV News recently caught up with lucky actress Lily Collins, who will portray fan-favorite protagonist Clarissa “Clary” Fray, about what makes the film and book series so special. “It’s an amazing series of books,” Collins gushed to MTV News at WonderCon. “Cassandra Clare’s books are incredible. I’m a huge fan myself, so to be able to play the heroine I love is incredible. It’s a story based on a young woman, an empowered young woman [who is] confident and determined, and she ends up surprising everyone with her abilities,” Collins explained. “I think it’s incredible for the story to be about a young girl and not one that is just a girl in the story. It really is her story.” Collins said she is incredibly excited and grateful to everyone who has offered their support of her landing the role. “To have the support of Scott [Stewart] and Clint Culpepper at Screen Gems and everyone, it means a lot that they saw something in me from ‘Priest,’ ” she said. “The fans have responded really, really positively, which is all you can ask for, because when you cast a heroine of a series of books that people are already fans of, if they don’t necessarily see you in the part, that can be an issue, so I feel very grateful to them.” “Instruments” author Cassandra Clare has also issued her stamp of approval. “I love Lily Collins,” she recently gushed in an online video. To the surprise of no one, Justin Bieber and Katy Perry were among the big winners in Nickelodeon’s 2011 Kids’ Choice Awards in Los Angeles. More than 200 million votes were cast to honor the best in kids’ entertainment. The show featured a bevy of entertainers, a variety of comedic skits, enough shrieks to deafen the average person and a 7,600-gallon vat of slime. Justin Bieber Live – Kids Choice Awards Katy Perry won Favorite Female Singer, Justin Bieber took home Favorite Male Singer, and The Black Eyed Peas won Favorite Musical Group. Among those honored was Justin Timberlake, who accepted Nickelodeon’s “The Big Help Award” for his charitable work and philanthropy. Favorite Movie Actor and Movie Actress? Johnny Depp and Miley Cyrus . This is the last time those two will be mentioned in the same breath. A day after a number of websites, including THG, posted leaked photos from the final installment of the Twlight Saga of Edward and Bella having sex, author Stephenie Meyer, director Bill Condon and producer Wyck Godfrey have released a statement asked these outlets to cease their actions: As some of you may know, pictures and screen grabs of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn as a work in progress have leaked on the internet. We are extremely proud of this film and also extremely heartbroken to see it out there at this stage. The film and these images are not yet ready or in their proper context. They were illegally obtained and their early dissemination is deeply upsetting to the actors, the filmmakers and Summit who are working so hard to bring these movies to fruition to you in November 2011 and November 2012. Please, for those who are posting, stop. And please, though the temptation is high, don’t view or pass on these images. Wait for the film in its beautiful, finished entirety to thrill you.
