For Discussion: Harry Belafonte Questions Timing Of Nate Parker’s Rape Case Resurfacing “Why Are You Bringing This Up?”

Harry Belafonte Questions If Nate Parker’s Rape Case Is A “Birth Of A Nation” Smear Campaign Rape Apologist . That’s the charge some people will levy against Harry Belafonte for comments he made about Nate Parker’s rap case during an interview with the AP … “It’s interesting because it’s coming out the same time the film’s coming out,” he told the AP about the movie’s Oct. 7 release. “Of all the stories you can tell, why are you telling this story? And if he was somebody who had committed a crime and got away with it, but he faced the justice system.” “The fact that [the system] may have screwed up, the fact that it didn’t really take care of justice, the fact that he should have been punished or whatever is history,” the activist continued. “The fact is that he was confronted and then he did go through the process. Why are you bringing this up now? What has he done that requires this kind of animus?” Mr. Belafonte went on to say: “Is this going to be the price that young Black women and men pay for making films of substance?” he asked the AP. “Are they going to dig in and get dirt instead of fruit? What are we doing here?” Now many have echoed these comments in discussions surrounding Nate Parker’s rape case coming to the forefront just prior to the release of “Birth Of A Nation”. However, Harry Belafonte has a certain reputation for not exactly being sympathetic to the plights of black women according to Eartha Kitt: Can someone ask Harry Belafonte to comment about what he said to Eartha Kitt about black women? pic.twitter.com/Dk6pO56n9i — Yukio Strachan (@boldandworthy) August 24, 2016 It’s one thing to not date black women in the 50’s, but is the brilliant and insightful Harry Belafonte REALLY that ignorant to the reality of rape culture? Demi Lovato Birthday Tribute: This is Why We Love the Singer

One of our favorite celebrities on the entire planet turns 24 years old today. Won’t you join us in honoring Demi Lovato? The singer celebrates her birthday on August 20 and we’re only too happy to celebrate Lovato on a constant basis. Why? First, because she’s pretty talented. Lovato writes a lot of her own material and puts on a pretty great show, as millions of young fans who have attended her concerts can attest to. But that’s only the beginning. Lovato is truly one of our role models in Hollywood because she is never afraid to speak her mind. Not even a quarter-century old yet, Demi has been through more in her short life than most people will go through in eight decades. As Lovato has no problem talking about, she spent several weeks in rehab toward the end of 2010, battling an addiction to various drugs as well as an eating disorder. Since that time, to use a cliche, Lovato has been committed to keeping it real. View Slideshow: 22 Times Demi Lovato Has Kept It Real Ask her about being anorexic? Lovato will explain what life was like for her back in the day. Bring up her hard drug use? Lovato will tell you how she used to sneak cocaine on to airplanes . Has she been diagnosed as bipolar? Yes, and Lovato will talk openly about how this still affects her to this day. The artist is unafraid to touch on these topics because she wants to set a positive example to anyone who has ever suffered through any of these problems. As a result, Lovato has been given a national platform at times. She actually delivered a brief speech and performed at the 2016 Democratic National Convention last month. Here is what she said: Demi Lovato Talks Mental Illness at Democratic National Convention Pretty cool, huh? It’s hard to imagine Miley Cyrus, Justin Bieber or Selena Gomez ever being invited to do such a thing, isn’t it? And that’s not a slight by any means. They are mostly performers who do their job very, very well. But Lovato has become more than just a performer. She clearly aims to do more than just sell a bunch of albums. And that is why we love her. View Slideshow: Demi Lovato Tattoos: Which is Your Favorite? “I lived fast and I was going to die young,” Lovato recently told American Way . “I didn’t think I would make it to 21.” She went on to talk about her self-medication with alcohol, cocaine and OxyContin back in the day. However, Demi added that she took her last drink in January of 2012 and continues to attend Alcoholics Anonymous meetings. “When I have meet-and-greets, I can’t tell you the amount of times that girls will show me their arms covered in scars or cuts,” Lovato explained to American Way, having been a cutter herself as a youngster. “They’ll tell me, ‘You helped me get through this. Because of you, I stopped self-harming,’ or ‘I got sober.’ “Hearing those things gave my life new meaning… “At times I was resentful for having that kind of responsibility. But now, it’s really become a part of my life. It holds me accountable.” And there it is. What else is there to say? HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DEMI LOVATO!

Dwayne Johnson: How Did He Diss Vin Diesel Now?

Dwayne Johnson just wrapped filming on Fast 8. Soon afterward, he took to Instagram and showed cast and crew members from the movie with praise and gratitude. Well, MOST cast and crew members, that is. “Finished strong and on to the next. That’s an officially wrap on #FastAndFurious8. Thank you to our director @fgarygray for the vision and execution,” Johnson wrote as a caption to the image above. Fair enough, right? It’s also a good thing and a nice thing to thank one’s director. But then Johnson continued as follows: “Thank you to all my fellow co-stars for the daily effort and grind. Scott Eastwood you handsome sumbitch! Natalie Emmanuel I have a cold Budweiser ready for you and Tyrese Gibson you still have the biggest smile and forehead I’ve ever seen.” This is how Johnson concluded his message: “And a huge THANK YOU to our hard working production crew – the backbone of our business. Your kind words meant a lot to me last night – thank you! “In the end, we all rallied, as great teams do, kicked ass and will deliver an amazing movie to the world. Proud of our entire FAST FAMILY.” That’s a very kind sentiment, except there’s clearly someone in the Fast Family who Johnson failed to mention: Vin Diesel. We somehow doubt this was an accidental oversight. A couple weeks ago, Johnson went on a social media tirade against an unnamed male co-star who he seemed “unprofessional” and called, quite simply, a “candy ass.” He wrote: “Some conduct themselves as stand up men and true professionals, while others don’t. The ones that don’t are too chicken sh*t to do anything about it anyway. Candy asses. “When you watch this movie next April and it seems like I’m not acting in some of these scenes and my blood is legit boiling – you’re right.” It didn’t take long for sources to confirm that his beef was with Diesel . Insiders told TMZ that Diesel let the power of being a producer go to his head. He allegedly acted like a giant dick on set, berating other actors, showing up late and generally acting like a jerk. Should Johnson receive some flak for not calling Diesel out by name in his Instagram rant ? Perhaps. But most crew members say Johnson was a true, hard-working, generous professional on set. They say Diesel was the opposite. How has Diesel responded to this feud? By briefly acknowledging its existence and by saying he’ll soon tell everyone absolutely everything . He’s yet to actually do this. Tyrese, meanwhile, has come out and said nice things about both Johnson and Diesel, trying hard not to take sides. No other co-star has commented on the bad blood. The first Fast 8 trailer is due in December and the movie will hit theaters in April. It will be interesting to see who is sent out on the press tour and what they say, won’t it? Ashley Judd in The Good Kid of the Day

Ashley Judd is pushing 50 years old, she’s around 48 or something, yet still looks like this, because I guess not all the family Genetics are Wynonna… You see, because this one went hot chick in Hollywood, while the other one went fat chick in Country music and I’m glad for that, because I’m old enough to remember all her low level work over the decades being the hot chick and I remember always thinking “I’d totally fuck that”…but then again I’ve had the same feeling towards loose meat sandwiches… This movie is called GODO KIDS…where Four high school students look to redefine themselves after graduation…sounds like dog shit…dog shit that fucks hot 50 year olds…unless this is a body double…in which case that’s too bad…you know…stay fit, it’s not like there’s anything else to do when you sit on your pile of country music inheritance.. Vin Diesel Teases Response to Dwayne Johnson: I’ll Tell You EVERYthing…

Vin Diesel has spoken out for the first time since Dwayne Johnson basically called him out on Instagram. A surprising brouhaha has erupted between Diesel and Johnson after the latter shared a scathing post on social media this week. In a lengthy rant, Johnson made it clear he had some issues with at least one male co-star on the set of Fast 8. “This is my final week of shooting Fast & Furious 8,” Johnson wrote. “There’s no other franchise that gets my blood boiling more than this one. An incredible hard working crew. Universal Studios Entertainment has been great partners as well. My female co-stars are always amazing and I love ’em.” Okay, great. All is good then, right? Wrong… “My male co-stars however are a different story,” the action star added. “Some conduct themselves as stand up men and true professionals, while others don’t. The ones that don’t are too chicken sh*t to do anything about it anyway. Candy asses. “When you watch this movie next April and it seems like I’m not acting in some of these scenes and my blood is legit boiling – you’re right.” Whoa there! Shots fired! At whom? At Vin Diesel , it appears, with TMZ writing in detail about the problems Johnson had with Diesel throughout the filming of the latest installment in this beloved franchise. And a follow-up report claims Johnson wasn’t alone. Diesel reportedly would show up late to the set… insult other stars… and generally act like disrespectful jackass while filming. Conversely, this same report had nothing but positive things to say about Johnson. According to Fast 8 crew members, he was friendly, easy to work with and pretty much everything you’d expect from the popular star. So… where does Diesel stand on all of this? We’ll soon find out. On Wednesday night, Diesel addressed this feud for the first time, pretty clearly admitting he’s the one beefing with Johnson. But not saying much else. Yet. “So much has gone on this year. I can’t believe I wrapped two back to back pictures I both starred in and produced,” the 49-year-old action star captioned the following Instagram video on Wednesday night. “Now I get to return to my family, my life… To me.” A video posted by Vin Diesel (@vindiesel) on Aug 10, 2016 at 10:27pm PDT Diesel never directly addressed Johnson’s comments. Instead, discussed being home with his daughter, Pauline, who was named after the late Fast and Furious actor, Paul Walker. “After being on set since literally Christmas to finally, finally, finally to come home,” he says above. “And to learn the little angel learned a new word. I’m going to have to share it with you, it’s more important than anything. When I heard her say ‘happy,’ I just lit up in ways I can’t even describe.” Diesel then paused before adding: “So give me a second and I will tell you everything. Everything.” Consider us on the edge of our seats, Vin. We’ll be right here, awaiting your next response to this saga. Whitney Houston Would Have Turned 53 Years Old Today

The music world has once again stopped to remember Whitney Houston.  The late and truly great singer would have celebrated her 53rd birthday today. Tragically, of course, Houston was taken from us far too soon when her body was found in the bathtub of a Beverly Hills hotel in February of 2012. Despite the singer’s long-time struggle with substance abuse, it remains one of the more shocking deaths in Hollywood history. Fast forward four and a half years and many musicians still cannot believe Houston is gone. “#WhitneyHouston U are drawn on my wall becuz there will NEVER be another you VOCALLY! Or STYLE! We love u QUEEN,” wrote Missy Elliott on Twitter this morning. And she certainly was not lone in paying tribute to Whitney on her birthday. On Instagram, Jennifer Hudson  shared an old photo of the singer, writing as a caption to the image: “Happy birthday to the greatest Whitney Houston!” Then there was  Tika Sumpter , who co-starred in the movie Sparkle with Houston. Her Instagram message shared the same sentiment as that of Hudson, reading: “Whitney. The greatest. Miss you.” Back on Twitter, Paula Abdul retweeted a “We’ll always love you, Whitney Houston” message, to which she added: “Truly & always.”  Over now to And Jordin Sparks , who also starred in Sparkle and who Tweeted on this occasion: “Wishing Mama Whitney a Happy Birthday!! I miss you! Thank you so much for your kindness & love.” About a month after Houston died, officials determined that she passed away from a heart attack brought on by the use of cocaine . Her death was ruled an “accidental drowning.” Coroner Chief Craig Harvey said in a news conference that evidence pointed to Whitney as a “chronic” cocaine user and that the traces in her system were “acute,” meaning she took the drug very soon before she died. Making the story even sadder? Whitney’s only daughter, Bobbi Kristina Brown, also died of a drug overdose . Moreover, her body was also found in a bathtub, with this tragedy taking place in January of 2015 at a home she shared with boyfriend Nick Gordon. Controversy continues to swirl around Bobbi’s death, most notably the role Gordon played either in her drug habit or even in the hours leading up to her passing. Bobby Brown has gone so far as to even suggest Gordon murdered his daughter. But we’re not here now to get into any of that. We’re here to pay tribute to Whitney Houston and the incredible life she led. Whatever demons surrounded both her and Bobbi, let’s just hope each has now found peace on the other side. Together. May they rest in peace.

"Bad Moms" Has One Sexy Red Carpet

I have heard that celebrities don’t actually stay and watch the movie during the premiere. They simply walk the red carpet, shake some hands, do a little schmoozing, and then duck out the back door before the opening credits roll. Whether that’s true or not, I guess we’ll never know, but really—when your movie is full beautiful ladies, the red carpet is all that matters. … read more Continue reading
