Yesterday, we reported that Jennifer Lopez and Casper Smart are back together after the couple was spotted making out on the American Idol set in plain view of dozens of cast and crew members. The semi-public confirmation that they’re back on came after months of speculation and rumors about Cassie and J-Lo meeting up for secret rendezvous. Now it seems there was no real reconciliation, after all – because Jen and Casper never really broke up. TMZ is reporting that the couple faked their breakup for publicity purposes. Apparently, in the months leading up to the release of Jen’s most latest movie, The Boy Next Door, the studio hoped to sell more tickets by spreading rumors about Lopez dating Ryan Guzman – her co-star in the film. For his part, Casper was apparently starring in a UFC-themed flick called Street (We’ve never heard of it, either.) and producers thought he would be a bigger box office draw if he appeared to be single. So does this mean there’s no truth to the rumors about Casper cheating with Sofia Vissa ? Vin Diesel believes Furious 7, the latest and final film in the epic action franchise, deserves a best picture Oscar. Not that the Academy will give it its due, of course. “Do I shy away from aiming high? No, I don’t,” said the 47-year-old actor, who just named his baby girl after Paul Walker , his late Furious 7 co-star. Diesel, a mainstay of the Fast & Furious films based around fast cars, says the simple fact that it’s an action franchise discredits it within the Academy . “We all know there’s a little stigma towards action films, we know it, we’ve heard people complain about it,” he says of the lack of critical acclaim. “We’ve heard Marvel complain about it, we’ve heard DC complain about it, and now Harry Potter, Hunger Games, Batman has never gotten a shot at that.” Alluding to the fact that a lot of recent Academy Award winners for Best Picture winners haven’t fared too well, or well at all, at the box office, he said: “The Oscars have been somewhat criticized in the last few years for maybe not being as populist as they could be … we have a very powerful movie here.” “We’re actually responding to the fact that our female audience has just increased and has either eclipsed or threatening to eclipse our male audience.” “We’ve seen that across the board,” said Diesel, who produced the movie and also plays Dominic Toretto, the character he originated over a decade ago. Diesel said a sequel hasn’t won Best Picture since 1974 ( The Godfather: Part II ), however The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King won it in 2004. Furious 7 is also special in that it is one of the last movies starring Walker, the beloved star whose brothers helped complete his part to honor Paul. The film opens in the United States next Friday, April 3, and you can all but guarantee it will generate HUGE buzz and revenue all weekend long. Last week, Zayn Malik quit the current One Direction tour , reportedly due to the stress of constantly being on the road. Days later, rumors surfaced that Zayn had been caught cheating on Perrie Edwards , and had actually returned home in hopes of saving his relationship. Whetever the case, the young man is clearly going through a tough time, so naturally, along comes Wendy Williams to kick him when he’s down: Wendy Williams to One Direction: Fire Zayn Malik! The cast of Pretty Woman reunited this week on the Today show this week, a quarter century after the now-iconic film was first released in theaters. Richard Gere, Julia Roberts, Hector Elizondo, Laura San Giacomo, and director Garry Marshall all appeared to mark the occasion and all looked terrific: With the appearance came little known facts about Pretty Woman, which apparently wasn’t going to be called Pretty Woman when it was first conceived. When Marshall joined the cast, the film was called 3,000 , and was a rather dark tale. Roberts, now 47, explained of the original script for the 1990 classic: “At the end of the original script, Richard’s character threw my character out of the car, threw the money on top of her, and drove away, and the credits rolled.” Yikes. No wonder Marshall decided to turn it into a love story. Gere said back then he needed convincing to take on the role he referred to as “the suit,” saying, “you could put a suit on a goa … so I didn’t get it.” It took one “pretty woman” to persuade him to accept, though. Marshall took Roberts to visit Gere and left the room so they could have a conversation. “She’s across the desk and she takes a piece of paper, a Post-it , and she turns it around and she pushes it to me and she says ‘Please say yes,’” Gere said. “It was so sweet, and I said, ‘I just said yes.’” As for their chemistry, which made the film such a classic, Gere said it was instant, noting, “We loved each other immediately, it was a really great thing.” 17 TV & Movie Casts Who Have Come Back Together 1. The 1999 comedy Office Space remains a cult classic thanks to its endlessly quotable dialogue and, of course, its memorable cast of characters: Milton, the Bobs, Lumbergh…Michael Bolton. Yes, one of the movie’s best running gags is the fact that David Herman’s gangsta-rap-loving character bristles with rage every time someone points out that he shares a name with the “no talent ass clown” Grammy-winner. Ironically, the movie is so beloved by a generation that many of us now think of Herman’s Michael Bolton whenever the name is mentioned. Fortunately, the folks at Funny or Die or here to set the record straight: Michael Bolton in Office Space Bolton has demonstrated his self-deprecating sense of humor before – most notably in the classic Lonely Island Jack Sparrow skit – but it looks like he draws the line at referring to himself as talentless. “Ass clown” is apparently fair game, though. As much as we enjoyed this clip, it was a little bittersweet, as it reminded us how much we’ve been longing for an Office Space sequel.
