Who Looked More Bangin’? Rihanna, Lupita, ‘Yonce, Kim K & More Attend 2014 Met Gala

Which one killed it?? Celebrities Attend The 2014 Met Gala The 2014 Met Gala is underway and Hollywood’s fashion elite brought out their A-game to one of the most exclusive events of the year. Per request of Met Gala head honcho Ana Wintour, the theme for this year was “White Tie,” which is said to be a step above a black tie dress code. Fashion rebel Rihanna and red carpet darling Lupita Nyong’o were both in the building, along with Mrs. Carter herself and the newly wifed-up Mrs. West aka Kim Kardashian, but a few familiar brown-skinned supermodel bangers gave everyone  a run for their money.

Poor Thang! Tyra Banks Devastated Victoria’s Secret Didn’t Want Her Geriatric Cakes Walking Their Runway Show

Awwww… At the tender age of 40 she still wants to floss her funbags! Tyra Banks Upset Victoria’s Secret Didn’t Want Her For Their Last Runway Show Poor Tyra Banks has been rejected by her former employer. According to RadarOnline reports : Tyra Banks is said to be furious that she was rejected for the recent Victoria’s Secret TV fashion special, RadarOnline.com has been told. According to a source, the former supermodel, 40, “was dying to appear on the runways as a surprise in the most recent CBS Victoria Secret Fashion Show” last December, “but was rejected by the brand and the network, despite her long affiliation with the company. She’s outraged and is threatening to never to work with Victoria’s Secret again.” Incredibly, Banks, who worked for Victoria’s Secret as one of their original “Angels” from 1997-2005 and created and began co-hosting the long-running TV hit America’s Next Top Model in 2003, was given an ageist-sounding reason for not making the cut, the source revealed. “Tyra’s feelings were hurt because the excuse she was given is that the audience likes to see the newest models, not the ‘veterans,’ on the runway during the VS TV show,” the source added. Banks, one of America’s most successful models, was the first African-American woman featured on GQ and the cover of Sports Illustrated swimsuit edition. She’s also one of the few models to become a mogul, showing her business skill with America’s Next Top Model, which she’s preparing for its 21st cycle this summer on the CW. But apparently, Banks’ beauty isn’t valued by Victoria’s Secret anymore, the source noted. “Tyra doesn’t want to make a public spectacle out of the snub, because it would make all the parties involved look bad,” the source said. “But she isn’t happy.” Do you feel bad for her? Is Heidi Klum in that much better shape than Tyra because we feel like they still used her even recently. We found a few pictures of Tyra in the 2005 runway show nearly a decade ago. Hit the flip and maybe you can help us discern why they turned her down. WENN

R.I.P DJ E-Z Rock Of “It Takes Two” Fame Passes Away At 46

Definitely gone too soon. Hip-Hop’s DJ EZ Rock Dies At Age 46 Another important player in hip-hop history has gone to an early grave . The death of Rob Base’s partner in rhyme, DJ EZ Rock, was confirmed Sunday. According to Rolling Stone reports : Rodney Bryce, who made his mark on hip-hop under the name DJ E-Z Rock, died Sunday, a spokesperson for Bryce’s friend and collaborator Rob Base confirmed to Rolling Stone. The cause of death has yet to be revealed. Rob Base and DJ E-Z Rock released their first single, “DJ Interview,” in 1986, but the 46-year-old Bryce cemented himself into the hip-hop canon with 1988′s iconic track “It Takes Two.” Produced by Teddy Riley and built around a vocal sample from Lyn Collins’ 1972 hit “Think (About It),” the song blended hip-hop with house music and became a nationwide hit, peaking at No. 3 on the Billboard Hot Dance/Club Songs chart and helping to lift rap into the pop consciousness. The track would later be sampled by Snoop Dogg, Gang Starr, Girl Talk and South Korean girl group 2NE1, among many others, and has long become a pop culture staple, appearing in everything from the soundtrack to the 2004 video game Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas to a scene in Sandra Bullock’s 2009 romantic comedy The Proposal. The duo released two other singles from their debut album —”Joy and Pain” and “Get on the Dance Floor”—but “It Takes Two” would be the standout single off the group’s debut album of the same name. The album was certified platinum in 1989 and reached No. 31 on the Billboard 200, an impressive feat for a hip-hop album at the time. Bryce would not appear on Rob Base’s 1989 follow-up The Incredible Base, but reunited with the rapper for 1994′s Break of Dawn. Rob Base and E-Z Rock both grew up in Harlem, becoming friends in the fourth grade. “Back then, there were other groups and we used to see other people perform,” E-Z Rock told Pennsylvania newspaper The Morning Call in 1991. “I bought a set of turntables and he bought a mic.” So sad. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his friends and family… Peep a few tributes from some fellow hip-hop artists on the flipside. WENN

For Us By Us: Ex-Baller Larry Johnson Says NBA Players Should Form An All-Black Basketball League With Only Black Owners

The NBBA? Larry Johnson Says NBA Players Should Form Black Owned Basketball League Via NYPost Knicks executive and former player Larry Johnson had a decidedly different but still strong reaction to the racially insensitive remarks Clippers owner Donald Sterling is alleged to have made. On Saturday night, Johnson tweeted: “Black people your Focusing on the wrong thing. We should be focusing on having our own, Own team own League! To For Self!!’’ The initial indication was Johnson was calling for an all-African-American league complete with black ownership. It wasn’t the first time Johnson, who is black, concerned himself with the fact the NBA’s ownership is mostly white while its players are mostly black. During the 1999 NBA Finals between the Knicks and Spurs, Johnson caused a stir by saying: “We’ve got a lot of rebellious slaves on this [Knicks] team.” When asked at the time why he referred to his teammates as slaves, Johnson said: “I’ve got to explain that to you? We don’t go with the mainstream.’’ Johnson was hired by the Knicks two years ago and serves many roles as a basketball and business operations representative. It’s unclear what his role will be under new team president Phil Jackson. Forming a league requires a whole lot of resources. Do you think “Grandmama’s” idea is practical? Image via AP
