British screenwriter Simon Monjack dead just after 5 months of his wife Brittany Murphy death.

Actress Murphy's Husband Found Dead Brittany Murphy's Husband Simon Monjack Cause Of Death Unknown Monday, May 24, 2010 LOS ANGELES — The husband of Brittany Murphy was found dead at his Los Angeles home late Sunday, five months after the Hollywood actress died, police said. Firefighters responding to an emergency call found British screenwriter Simon Monjack dead at the Hollywood Hills residence, police spokesman Sgt. Louie Lozano said. The preliminary cause of the 39-year-old Monjack's death is natural causes, he told The Associated Press. “We concluded there no signs of foul play or any criminal activity involved,” said Sgt. Alex Ortiz, another police spokesman. Ortiz said that the Los Angeles Coroner's Office was taking over the investigation because criminal activity had been ruled out, and would provide more details later on the death and circumstances surrounding it. Firefighters rushed to the home after receiving a call from a female occupant at 9:40 p.m. Sunday, but Ortiz said he didn't know who then name of the caller. At his wife's funeral in December, a visibly emotional Monjack talked about their relationship and called her his best friend and soul mate. The two married in 2007. He had said that they had been planning a family and contemplating a move to New York. Murphy, best known for her major roles in “Clueless,” ''Girl Interrupted,” and “8 Mile” in 2002, died Dec. 20, at age 32 after collapsing in her home. The Los Angeles County coroner's office concluded Murphy's death was accidental, but likely preventable. The coroner's report said that the medications found in her system were consistent with treatment of a cold or respiratory infection. Monjack and Murphy's mother had reported the actress was ill with flulike symptoms in the days before her death. An autopsy found no evidence that Murphy abused drugs. Investigators found numerous prescription medications in the actress' home. Copyright 2010 by The Associated Press. All rights reserved. Brittany Murphy’s Husband, Simon Monjack, Found Dead

Screenwriter discovered in his L.A. home five months after actress’ death. By Gil Kaufman Simon Monjack and Brittany Murphy in 2008 Photo: Bryan Bedder/Getty Images Five months after actress Brittany Murphy was found dead in her Los Angeles home, the late actresses’ husband, Simon Monjack was discovered dead in the same house on Sunday night. The Los Angeles Times reports that British screenwriter Monjack, 39, was found dead of yet-unknown causes at the home he shared with Murphy, who died in December at age 32 from what a coroner determined was a combination of pneumonia, anemia and multiple drug intoxication. The Los Angeles Fire Department responded to a 911 call at 9:24 p.m. on Sunday for an “unspecified medical aid request,” according to a fire department spokesman. After Fire Department personnel attempted to provide medical assistance to Monjack, he was pronounced dead at the scene. TMZ reported that Murphy’s mother, Sharon, who also discovered her daughter’s body, was the person who found Monjack unconscious in the master bedroom and it was she who called 911 to report the medical emergency. The site claimed that Monjack reportedly died as a result of cardiac arrest, though that has not been confirmed. A death investigation is under way. Following Murphy’s death, Monjack said in an interview that he suffered from seizures and had suffered a heart attack while returning from a vacation in Puerto Rico in 2009. Monjack was born in Hillingdon, England, on August 5, 1970, and is best known for writing and directing the little-seen 2000 movie “Two Days, Nine Lives.” In February, a coroner’s report dispelled rumors that Murphy had died as a result of illegal drug abuse or excessive alcohol intake. A death investigation determined that the pattern of the elevated levels of drugs in her blood “suggest treatment of symptoms of a cold or other respiratory infection.” The report found “no history of alcohol or drug abuse” and Murphy’s body was “normally muscular and slim but not excessively thin.” Related Photos Brittany Murphy: A Career Retrospective

Will Susan Boyle Take J. Lo’s Glee Leftovers?

Way back in January, Glee creator Ryan Murphy revealed that he was trying to lure Jennifer Lopez to McKinley High, only instead of creating a meaty role for her — like a recovered crack addict with an affection for Billy Joel , an alcoholic with a crush on Schue or Rachel Berry’s bio-mom — he wanted her to play a lunch lady. Months after she apparently passed on the part (J. Lo does not scoop mashed potatoes for anyone! ), Murphy is trying to force her leftovers on Susan Boyle.

Aaron Sorkin Comes to Newsweek’s Aid in Gay Actor Controversy… Sort Of

It’s been a rough week for Newsweek writer Ramin Setoodeh: after writing an editorial about how he can’t buy gay actors in straight roles, he was eviscerated by Kristin Chenoweth and made the target of a boycott by Glee creator Ryan Murphy, despite his hasty attempt to reframe his intentions . Today, though, Setoodeh found an unlikely defender in The West Wing creator Aaron Sorkin.
