Michael Jackson’s Family To Attend Dr. Conrad Murray Hearing

Family members have asked court to reserve seats at procedural hearing for physician charged in Jackson’s death. By Jocelyn Vena Dr. Conrad Murray Photo: Toby Canham/ Getty Images Michael Jackson ‘s physician, Dr. Conrad Murray, is expected to appear in a Los Angeles Superior Court on Monday (April 5) for a procedural hearing aimed at assigning a judge to his case and setting up a preliminary hearing date. Murray has already pleaded not guilty to involuntary manslaughter in connection with Jackson’s death last June. The Associated Press reports that Jackson family members are expected to attend the hearing and have already notified the court officials of their attendance in order for seats to be reserved for them in the courtroom. Sandi Gibbons, spokeswoman for the district attorney’s office, said, “There will be more than a dozen, possibly as many as 15” family members there. Meanwhile, reports that Murray’s defense may argue that Jackson gave himself the fatal dose of Propofol. Sources tell the Web site that Murray’s attorney, Ed Chernoff, will argue that Murray gave Jackson a 25 mg dose of the drug, but that when the doctor left the room, Jackson awoke and “took the 20 ml bottle of Propofol and self-injected the remaining contents through the IV, causing a massive overdose that stopped his heart.” A rep for Murray, however, claimed to have no idea about this line of argument, telling “Access Hollywood” in a statement, “We do not know what sources to which TMZ is referring. We only know it didn’t come from [attorney] Ed [Chernoff], who has the final word.” The rep added that they “will not be trying the case in the press” and wanted to see how the prosecution intended to try the case. “In any case, it is premature to discuss defense strategy,” the rep continued. “Dr. Murray’s defense will depend on the People’s theory of prosecution, which has not yet been made available to the defense team.” Related Photos Family & Friends Say Goodbye To Michael Jackson Michael Jackson’s Greatest MTV Moments Michael Jackson: A Fashion Icon Michael Jackson: A Life In Photos Related Artists Michael Jackson

Joe Jackson Fumes at Conrad Murray Defense, Files Wrongful Death Lawsuit Against Doc

Michael Jackson’s father, Joe, is “horrified” at the prospect of Dr. Conrad Murray’s legal team arguing that Michael Jackson killed himself with a lethal dose of Propofol. The defense believes MJ woke up shortly before noon on the day he died, when Dr. Conrad Murray stepped out of the room, and decided to up his dosage. Big time. Murray’s lawyers are ready to argue that Michael’s addictive personality makes it more than feasible that he injected far too much Propofol and stopped his heart. But Joe Jackson ain’t buying it. “I don’t believe it. It’s not true,” he said, asserting that Murray covered up evidence. “Why would he [Dr. Murray] hide all the bottles if such a story were true. The Coroner’s report shows the story is not true. It really upsets me to hear this.” Joe Jackson never met a Michael Jackson CD lawsuit he didn’t like . While Murray’s story definitely seems a bit out there, one can never really trust the motives of Michael’s father, either. Sure, he’s probably upset Michael died. But any chance to make money, he pounces on! Joe has also fired a wrongful death lawsuit against Murray, claiming he needs a big payday his actions were “reckless” and “amount to second degree murder.” Joe Jackson’s lawyer, Brian Oxman, won’t go that far, but adds, “His [Dr. Murray’s] story is medically inconsistent with the autopsy findings … I would need to see the photographs of the scene in order to assess his story.” He’s been saying for some time that the involuntary manslaughter charge against Murray is not enough . Looks like Joe’s now taking things into his own hands.

Michael Jackson Killed HIMSELF, Dr. Conrad Murray Says

We’ve been wondering ever since he was charged with involuntary manslaughter in the death of Michael Jackson how Dr. Conrad Murray would try to explain it away. Now we know: He plans to argue that MJ did himself in. Murray’s legal defense will hinge on the argument that the pop icon gave himself the fatal dose of Propofol, a hospital-grade anesthesia authorities say killed him. The defense will argue how Michael Jackson was a long-time Propofol addict, and that “Michael liked to push it” via IV, to the point of going to extreme measures. His argument will try to refute that Murray covered up evidence , which the LAPD contends. The doctor’s story of MJ’s death timeline is likely to play out as such: What really happened on June 25? Only Michael Jackson and Dr. Conrad Murray know for sure, and the latter has a markedly different version of events than the LAPD. Around 10:50 a.m. on June 25, Dr. Conrad Murray gave Michael Jackson 25 mg of Propofol from a 20 ml bottle, which is only about 1/8 of the bottle. The dose Dr. Murray administered would keep someone asleep for only 5-10 minutes, but the Propofol, along with Ativan and Versed already in MJ’s system, had a synergistic effect that put Jackson to sleep for a longer period. For the next hour, Dr. Murray stayed in the room and was on the phone much of the time. He didn’t leave the room to make the calls because MJ liked activity in the room, regularly sleeping with the lights on and the TV blaring. Around noon, Murray left the room for approximately two minutes to go to the bathroom. While he was gone, the defense believes Jackson suddenly woke up, frustrated he had spent nearly nine hours trying in vain to sleep. The defense theory: MJ took the 20 ml bottle of Propofol, self-injected the remainder of it via IV and caused a massive overdose, stopping his heart. Dr. Murray found Jackson with eyes open and pupils dilated, dropped the phone (he was speaking with girlfriend Nicole Alvarez ) and performed CPR. What do you think of this theory by Dr. Conrad Murray? Is it at all legitimate, or is he just grasping at whatever legal straws he can find at this point?
