We take a look back at the seven-year relationship between two of the world’s biggest movie stars. By John Mitchell Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt in 2007 Photo: Getty Images That noise you just heard was the heads of celebrity tabloid editors’ heads exploding in unison at the news that Brad Pitt finally put a ring on it and proposed to Angelina Jolie . Rumors of an engagement began to swirl when Jolie was spotted at a private viewing at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art’s Chinese galleries on Wednesday rocking quite a sparkler on her ring finger. Pitt’s manager Cynthia Pett-Dante confirmed the engagement to People , saying, “It is a promise for the future and their kids are very happy.” The pair have been together for seven years and have six children. Their love story has been documented like crazy by the tabloids, but in honor of their long-overdue engagement, we decided to take a look back at the highlights of their relationship to show you how they got from meeting on a movie set to preparing to walk down the aisle.

There’s no date set at this time.” Click here to see photos of Brangelina It’s being reported that Robert Procop worked with Pitt to design a ring for his longtime love. A statement from the jewelry designer to The Hollywood Reporter, which originally reported the engagement, read: “I can confirm that, yes, Robert Procop did indeed design an engagement ring for Angelina Jolie, designed in collaboration with Brad Pitt.” People also obtained a statement from the designer: “Brad had a specific vision for this ring, which he realized over a yearlong collaboration with Robert. He wanted every aspect of it to be perfect, so Robert was able to locate a diamond of the finest quality and cut it to an exact custom size and shape to suit Angelina’s hand.” Procop, who works with Jolie on her “The Style of Jolie” jewelry line, added, “Brad was always heavily involved, overseeing every aspect of the creative design evolution. The side diamonds are specially cut to encircle her finger. Each diamond is of the highest gem quality.” Rumors of an engagement originated when Jolie — along with Pitt and their son Pax — was spotted with a whopping piece of bling on her finger. The family was photographed at a private viewing at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art’s Chinese Galleries on Wednesday. The pair got together in 2005 after meeting on the set of “Mr. and Mrs. Smith,” when Pitt was still married to Jennifer Aniston. They have six kids together, who frequently travel with the couple across the globe. The twosome have been pretty vocal over the years about not getting married until everyone has the right to marry, but in an interview earlier this year with THR, Pitt seemed to be warming up to the idea, mostly because of their kids. “We’d actually like to,” he said of his seven-year partner, Jolie, “and it seems to mean more and more to our kids. We made this declaration some time ago that we weren’t going to do it till everyone can. But I don’t think we’ll be able to hold out. It means so much to my kids, and they ask a lot. And it means something to me, too, to make that kind of commitment.” He added, “I’m not going to go any further. But to be in love with someone and be raising a family with someone and want to make that commitment and not be able to is ludicrous, just ludicrous.” Related Photos Lovebirds: Brad Pitt And Angelina Jolie

Six-minute sequence will run on select IMAX screens before ‘Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol’ showings. By Kevin P. Sullivan Christian Bale and Tom Hardy on the set of “Dark Knight Rises” Photo: Getty Images Well, it took long enough. Warner Bros. has finally pulled back the curtain on the hotly anticipated six-minute opening sequence from “The Dark Knight Rises.” /Film originally broke the story in October, reporting that a short prologue would run on select IMAX screens before showings of “Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol.” For over a month, the studio had remained silent on the topic, and when the AMC theater chain released a statement confirming the report , the post was removed soon afterward. When the MPAA handed down a PG-13 rating for the prologue alone, the event was all but confirmed. Now, an official statement from Warner Bros. is reiterating most everything previously said about the preview. It will last six minutes and consist of the film’s first sequence. The clip was shot on the IMAX 15 perf 65mm/70mm film that director Christopher Nolan used for several key action sequences during “The Dark Knight.” There has been much speculation about the content of the preview. This month’s issue of Empire confirmed that the prologue would introduce Tom Hardy ‘s Bane. Unfortunately for some Batman fans, as previously stated, the “Dark Knight Rises” prologue will only play before “Ghost Protocol” on screens using true 70mm IMAX projection, so theaters with the more common digital projection will not get the preview. All told, only 42 screens in the U.S. and Canada will show it. Here is a list of the theaters where you can catch the “Dark Knight Rises” prologue starting December 16: Austin, TX – IMAX Theater Austin Boston, MA – Jordan’s IMAX – Natick Boston, MA – IMAX 3D Theatre in Reading Calgary, AB – Scotiabank Theatre Chinook 16 Chantilly, VA – Udvar-Hazy Center IMAX Chicago, IL – Navy Pier IMAX Theatre Des Moines, IA – SCI IMAX Dome Theater Detroit, MI – Henry Ford IMAX – Dearborn Edmonton, AB – Scotiabank Theatre Edmonton Harrisburg, PA – Whitaker Center for Science & the Arts Houston, TX – Houston Marq*e Stadium 22 + IMAX Indianapolis – White River IMAX Los Angeles, CA – Irvine Spectrum 21 + IMAX – Irvine Los Angeles, CA – RAVE 18 + IMAX Los Angeles, CA – Ontario Palace Stadium 22 + IMAX – Ontario Los Angeles, CA – CityWalk Stadium 19 with IMAX – Universal City Madison, WI – Star Fitchburg 18 with IMAX – Fitchburg Miami, FL – AutoNation IMAX – Fort Lauderdale Minneapolis, MN – Great Clips IMAX – Apple Valley Montreal, QC – Cinema Banque Scotia Montreal Nashville,TN – Opry Mills Stadium 20 + IMAX New York, NY – Lincoln Square 13 with IMAX New York, NY – Palisades IMAX – West Nyack Omaha, NE – Star Cinema 16 with IMAX – Council Bluffs Orlando, FL – Regal Pointe Orlando Stadium 20 + IMAX Ottawa, ON – SilverCity Gloucester + IMAX – Gloucester Palm Springs, CA – Desert IMAX Theatre – Cathedral City Philadelphia, PA – IMAX at the Tropicana – Atlantic City Philadelphia, PA – Tuttleman IMAX – Franklin Institute Phoenix, AZ – Arizona Mills 25 with IMAX – Tempe Providence, RI – Providence Place 16 with IMAX Quebec City, QC – IMAX Le Theatre At Quebec Sacramento, CA – Esquire IMAX San Antonio, TX – IMAX at RiverCenter San Francisco, CA – Metreon 16 with IMAX & ETX Seattle, WA – Boeing IMAX – Pacific Science Center Tampa, FL – Museum of Science and Industry Toronto, ON – Coliseum 12 Mississauga + IMAX Toronto, ON – Scotiabank Theatre Toronto + IMAX Toronto, ON – Colossus 18 Woodbridge + IMAX – Woodbridge-Vaughan Vancouver, BC – Colossus Langley + IMAX – Langley Vancouver, BC – SilverCity Riverport + IMAX – Richmond Check out everything we’ve got on “The Dark Knight Rises.” For breaking news and previews of the latest comic book movies — updated around the clock — visit SplashPage.MTV.com . Dustin Lance Black tells MTV News he wrote the Leonardo DiCaprio-starring drama for ‘this generation’ as a cautionary tale. By Kara Warner Leonardo DiCaprio and Naomi Watts in “J. Edgar” Photo: Warner Bros Long before its release, “J. Edgar” had movie fans excited for its opening on Friday (November 11). Why? Because it features the bona fide box-office draw of star Leonardo DiCaprio, rising star Armie Hammer and a living Hollywood legend in director Clint Eastwood. Not only that, but the film is based on the creation and formation of the FBI, which was founded by J. Edgar Hoover. That subject might not be as intriguing to a young audience as something like “A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas,” but the parties closest to the project want you to know that there is more to this story than drama and history. “A portrait of a very important man in American history,” Eastwood told MTV News at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art “Art + Film” Gala when asked what younger audiences should expect from the film. “And [they can] get an idea of him if they don’t know about him. Hopefully, they know something about that and the history that surrounded him because he reigned at a very important era, starting with the Bolshevik invasion from within the [1920s],” he said. Oscar-winning screenwriter Dustin Lance Black added that the idea of making the story relevant to younger generations was front of mind for him throughout the writing process. “I wanted to write it for this generation. There’s a lot you can talk about with J. Edgar Hoover, but I chose the things I thought a young generation could identify with,” Black explained. “We’re not going to focus on McCarthy, we’re going to focus on Martin Luther King. We’re going to focus on things that [Hoover] did that were heinous, that these kids will probably be surprised by and also a lot of the great things he did that we’ve all forgotten about. “There’s some gun-shooting and explosions and all that sort of stuff that I hope young people like,” he continued. “But for the most part, it’s a cautionary tale saying, ‘Hey, young people, here was a man that made his life all about being famous and it turned him into a monster.’ So fame is great, but if you don’t put love first, you might be a problem.” Check out everything we’ve got on ” J. Edgar.” For breaking news, celebrity columns, humor and more — updated around the clock — visit MTVMoviesBlog.com . Related Videos J. Edgar Talk Nerdy To Me
Single-camera comedy will be called ‘Us and Them.’ By Gil Kaufman Mandy Moore Photo: Getty Images Mandy Moore has long bounced between TV, movies and music, and now the “Princess Diaries” co-star is trying her hand at a sitcom. Moore, who has guested on “Scrubs,” “Grey’s Anatomy” and “American Dreamz” in the past, will star in the new single-camera sitcom “Us and Them,” according to The Hollywood Reporter . The family comedy is described as the story of the “inherent conflict that exists between the families you grow up in and the ones we make as adults,” told through the perspective of Moore’s newlywed character Anne and her husband, Ben. Among the producers on the show are Jon Leshay, who was a music supervisor on a number of Moore movies, including “Saved!,” “How to Deal” and “A Walk to Remember.” “Night at the Museum” director Shawn Levy will direct and executive-produce the show. Moore voiced the lead character in last fall’s animated Rapunzel tale “Tangled” and appeared on this year’s Academy Awards broadcast singing the Oscar-nominated tune from the movie, “I See the Light.” While her music career has been on hold since 2009’s Amanda Leigh, husband Ryan Adams has just released his 13th studio album, Ashes & Fire, on which she sings backing vocals on the song “Come Home.” Moore is also slated to appear alongside the voices of Elijah Wood, Lance Henriksen and “Entourage” star Emmanuelle Chriqui on the upcoming animated TV series “Tron: Uprising,” which is slated to air on Disney XD next summer. She will voice the character Mara in the show, which takes place between the time of the original film and last December’s re-boot, “Tron: Legacy.” Related Artists Mandy Moore
