This year I caught up with some of your favorite artists and influencers at the SXSW conference in Austin, TX. The South by Southwest (SXSW) Conference & Festivals celebrate the convergence of the interactive, film, and music industries. Fostering creative and professional growth alike, SXSW is the premier destination for discovery. The festival took place 3/14-3/18 with most stages held on Austin’s legendary 6th street. Here I was able to attend some of the most anticipated events including Fader Fort presented by The Fader, where there were on sight barbers giving fresh cuts, guests enjoyed cocktails courtesy of Jack Daniels, New Balance provided a ball pit to promote the classic #574 sneaker, and a plethora of indie to chart-topping artists took the stage to give performances to remember exclusively for pass holders Wednesday-Friday. Raekwon popped out for a surprise set , performing tracks from solo projects and Wu-Tang classics like “C.R.E.A.M.” SOB X RBE brought Black Panther to FADER FORT with a performance of “Paramedic!” Saweetie premiered her new track “B.A.N.” on the FADER FORT stage . Watch Soccer Mommy’s powerful performance of “Your Dog” at FORT here . Bun B stops by FADER FORT and dedicates a performance of UGK’s “One Day” to Parkland shooting victims. Image via St. Louis County Police Ex-Grad Student Arrested For Raping Male Students At Gunpoint A former graduate student at the University of Missouri has been arrested for forcibly sodomizing a male student at gunpoint after breaking into his on-campus apartment. According to RFT , 23-year-old Devonta Bagley ran into the room at 4 a.m. late Sunday night and threatened the victim with the gun and raped him. He was later arrested by St. Louis County police, charged with sodomy, first-degree burglary and two counts of armed criminal action. Bagley is currently being held on $500,000 bond. What makes this story even more disturbing is that this isn’t Bagley’s first go round with raping men. Last year, just 2 months after graduating for Kansas State University, Bagley raped a student there at gunpoint. He was charged with aggravated criminal sodomy and aggravated burglary. For God’s sake, keep this guy off the streets! If you don’t want to protect students from gun violence the least you protect them from being ra-…oh, yeah. SMH.

Scott Dudelson/Getty Images Snoop Dogg Dropped Another Album, And It’s Gospel Music Less than a month after Snoop Dogg released his 220 EP, the Long Beach legend is back once again with some more music, and this time he’s coming at us with a gospel project. Bible of Love consists of 32 tracks and features guests appearances from a number of the genre’s most storied singers including Tye Tribbett, Faith Evans, Rance Allen, and Kim Burrell. Snoop has gone through many phases in his music career, and this latest gospel album seems to be a passion project. From his new series on Netflix, to his job as a football coach, and the multiple shows he hosts, it’s crazy to imagine how D-O Double G has enough time to make another album–especially with more than 30 tracks. According to ABC News , the location in Auburn, Maine, will close down on Thursday (March 15) for a day of staff retraining after a waitress there asked a group of black teenagers to pay for their meals upfront. In a statement, company president Darren Rebelez said that they do not tolerate any type of discrimination. “IHOP and our franchisees have zero tolerance for actions that are or allude to discrimination of any type. The franchisee of this location is working to contact the affected guests directly to apologize for this incident and are taking appropriate disciplinary actions in line with their HR policies.” While the manager of that particular location claims that in the past they have dealt with teens who eat and run out without paying, Melvin Escobar stressed that making someone pay before eating isn’t acceptable. He told the Associated Press, “this is the first time it happened, and that will be the last time.” This isn’t the first time that IHOP has been under fire for alleged racism. Back in 2016, we reported that a Texas couple complained that a white waiter wrote “Black people” on their receipt in order to keep up with his tables. IHOP Apologizes After Server Tells Black Teens to Pay for Their Meals In Advance
W hen Meek Mill was 21, he was convicted on gun and drug charges. Nine years later, he was still on probation. On November 6, Mill , 30, was sentenced to two to four years in prison for a probation violation (he got into a fight at St. Louis Lambert International Airport in March 2017). During a press conference this week, Meek Mill’s mother Kathy Williams begged through tears, “I’m begging the DA Krasner… Can you please help me out?” She also said, “I don’t even understand how he’s been on probation for that many years. It’s like he murdered somebody… He has to beg to see his son. What kind of woman does that? Is she a mother? Do she have a mother?” Meek’s mother is referring to Common Pleas Court Judge Genece E. Brinkley, who happens to be a Black woman. She has been accused of extorting Meek for personal favors— she reportedly wanted him to make a song in honor of her, and when the rapper declined, he received a harsher sentence. Judge Brinkley has denied all allegations. However, Kathy Williams might get her wish, TMZ.com is reporting, “The D.A. filed docs Wednesday saying there’s a ‘strong showing of likelihood’ that Meek’s conviction will be reversed due to a police corruption scandal in Philly. Prosecutors point out hundreds of previous convictions have already been overturned, and they think Meek will follow suit, shortly.” Meek’s mother told TMZ.com, “I would like to thank the Philadelphia District Attorney’s office for carefully evaluating my son’s matter and not opposing the request for bail. The fact that Robert’s entire conviction could be overturned is a blessing and I pray that God gives Judge Brinkley the wisdom to make the right decision and allow my son to return home to his family. I truly believe justice will prevail.” Hopefully, Meek Mill, whose real name is Robert Rihmeek Williams, will get justice. Deadline.com reports that the network has finally filled the role, and Rosewood star Gabrielle Dennis is set to play Whitney. Bobby and Whitney had a tumultuous relationship that was high on drama. They got married in 1992 and welcomed a daughter, Bobbi Kristina, in 1993. The pair later split up and divorced in 2007. There’s no word on whether Bobbi Kristina will be included in The Bobby Brown Story. Gabrielle is the last star to join the cast. Last week, it was announced that Mekhi Phifer, Lil Rel Howrey, and Lance Gross had all been cast in the two-part TV event.
