Source: C.Smith/ WENN.com / WENN Aretha Franklin’s Handwritten Wills Discovered By Her Niece Aretha Franklin’s niece, Sabrina Owens–who is also the personal representative of Franklin’s estate–has reportedly found the late singer’s handwritten wills, according to reports via the Associated Press . These newly discovered wills were filed in probate court in Oakland County, Michigan on Monday. The three wills were discovered by Owens after she came across a key for a locked cabinet. Two of the wills, from 2010, were found in said cabinet while the third will, from March 2014, was uncovered under the cushions of a couch. It was previously thought that Franklin left no will behind, until Owens found all three of thesewills in the same day at Franklin’s home. The documents from 2014 detail which assets should be left to Franklin’s family members. A statement from Owens says, “she remains neutral and wishes that all parties involved make wise choices on behalf of their mother, her rich legacy, the family and the Aretha Franklin estate…” “If it’s clear and convincing evidence of your intentions, it’s a perfectly valid document,” Patrick Simasko, an estate specialist, told AP. “The court wants to do everything in its power to fulfill the wishes of the person who passed away.” In the documents, Franklin requests that her son, Kecalf Franklin, be the personal representative of the estate. Franklin’s sons previously agreed to Owens overseeing the estate. A hearing to confirm the validity of the wills is scheduled to happen on June 12.

On Tuesday night’s season finale of this beloved NBC singing competition, Blake Shelton and John Legend’s teams battled it out one last time. Maelyn Jarmon represented the latter, while Team Blake was filled with a trio of impressive country artists: Gyth Rigdon, Dexter Roberts and Andrew Sevener. Only one member of this concluding quartet could come out on top in the end, of course, so roll that drum of yours and prepare to learn the answer in 3… 2… 1: CONGRATULATIONS TO MAELYN JARMON! The 26-year-old singer — who has become known for her powerhouse vocals — delivered Legend his first-ever The Voice victory, adding to a list of accomplishments for the superstar that includes an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony Award. But this night wasn’t about Legend, of course. It was about his protege, Jarmon. “I really love Blake and I’ve really enjoyed getting to know him this year. He’s a very arrogant bastard,” Legend told reporters at the winner’s press conference following the show, adding: “I had a feeling he was going to kiss someone’s ass after this show and I was right.” Thanks to Jarmon, of course. She surprised many viewers by defeating Rigdon, who finished in second place; along with Roberts, who placed third; and Sevener, who placed fourth. Ever since the blind auditions, Jarmon has captured the attention of the coaches and viewers across the globe with her amazing voice and inspiring story. At two years old, Jarmon had tubes inserted into her ears to treat recurring ear infections. Sadly, the tubes ended up damaging her eardrums and left her deaf in her right ear and with only 80% hearing in the left ear. Still, she fought on and overcame extraordinary odds to follow a career in music. “I’ve considered it a superpower since I was young,” she told reporters on Monday night ahead of the finale. “It was never discussed as a disability through my house. It was never really talked about much at all. What a great attitude, right? And yet… many fans of the show did not feel great about the final vote. They took to social media to vent about the outcome. “This is a crock of crap. Andrew Sevener was better than the rest of the finalists,” wrote one angry Tweeter, while another thought Shelton was “ROBBED.” Seems a bit harsh, right? Do you agree with these assessments? Or do you think the right artist was crowned The Voice champion? The star-studded finale also featured performances by Taylor Swift and Brendon Urie, BTS, the Jonas Brothers, Halsey, Khalid, OneRepublic and Hootie & the Blowfish. Adam Levine, meanwhile, had predicted Jarmon would win — while we simply remain in awe of her positive view in light of all she has been faced with in her life. “I didn’t know how [the show] was going to turn out because I had never been on this kind of platform or worked with in-ears before and that had its own challenges,” she continued to the press prior to the finale. Concluded Jarmon at this time: “Last week, my in-ears went out halfway through my performance, and I couldn’t hear anything anymore. When that has happened to me before this show because I sometimes can’t hear, I’ll go based off feeling. “I was able to do that in that moment because of my practice with that in the past. Ernie Hines filed a $2 million lawsuit against Timbaland, who used the original recording to create songs for Jay-Z and Ginuwine separately. The Blast reports : 81-year-old Ernie Hines filed a lawsuit, obtained by The Blast, against Jay-Z, Timbaland, Roc-A-Fella Records, Def Jam Recordings, Universal Music Group and Sony Music. Hines, a soul musician from Jackson, Mississippi, says he’s the co-author and composer of the 1969 song, “Help Me,” which was sampled on both Jay-Z’s “Paper Chase” from the Hard Knock Life album, and Ginuwine’s 1999 song, “Toe 2 Toe.” Timbaland produced both tracks, and the document notes that “Toe 2 Toe” has sold over “2 million copies.” Hines’ attorney, Christopher Brown, writes that his client is a “senior citizen, does not listen to rap music and was unaware” that the songs contained his music and composition. Many of the team’s 2.8 million Twitter followers learned that the Rocket’s official twitter account was suspended on Monday along with several college football teams due to copyright issues. “Our Twitter account has been temporarily suspended due to a few prior social media posts with copyrighted music,” the Rockets said in a statement. “We are working to correct the issue now.” Joining the Rockets in the Twitter takedown were the Iowa State football account, the Iowa football and gymnastics account, the Auburn football account and Rutgers football. This isn’t the first time big name Twitter accounts were taken down over music copyright issues. The University of Texas’ account was temporarily suspended in 2018 but was restored later on the same day it was initially suspended. Back in 2015 during the first round of the NBA Playoffs, the team dismissed their digital communications manager after he sent a tweet to the Dallas Mavericks account from the Rockets official account saying, “Shhhhh. Just close your eyes. It will all be over soon.” with an emoji of a pistol pointed at a horse’s head. According to The Hollywood Reporter , the musical film will tell the love story of a Brooklyn waitress and an up-and-coming musician from a wealthy family whose different upbringings will take a toll on their romance. Smith will serve as executive producer along with James Lassiter and Caleeb Pinkett. while the Queen will be the flick’s producer.
