Every now and then, on a random Tuesday when most people are minding their own business and have too much going on in their lives to worry about anyone else, some man will take it upon himself to offer his unsolicited opinion on women’s attire. It could be anything from the weave in her hair to the color on her lip to the length of her dress, somewhere, some man is going to find an issue with one of those things and feel compelled to let the world know. And while the resounding response from women will be to ignore said man and not give a damn. Lifetime plans on making a miniseries about the iconic rap group, which will be executive produced by none other than fellow femcee Queen Latifah . According to Entertainment Weekly , Salt-N-Pepa will follow the story of nursing students Cheryl “Salt” James and Sandra “Pepa” Denton as they navigate the hip-hop landscape following their first recording experience with a friend’s school project. It’s also being reported that the miniseries will incorporate some of the group’s biggest hits such as “Let’s Talk About Sex,” “What a Man” and our personal favorite“Shoop.” Not many details have been released about the film and no one has been cast quite yet, Variety noted . For children, birthday parties are supposed to be fun, innocent and filled with cake and balloons. But one lawsuit alleges that the Chicago Police ruined that moment for one African-American 4-year-old boy when they raided the wrong apartment and pointed guns at the stunned partygoers. According to the Chicago Tribune , the incident took place on Feb. 10 when more than a dozen CPD officers stormed into Stephanie Bures’ South Side home using excessive force and repeatedly shouting the f-word at the party, a federal lawsuit alleges. Apparently, the police were targeting a suspect they believed was in possession of the drug ecstasy, but they obtained an old address for him. Instead of finding their suspect, they found a crowd of 15 surrounding a birthday cake. Bures claims that her son was traumatized as were the other children and adults when the police barged into her home, without knocking and without providing proof of a warrant. She told CBS Chicago that she was handcuffed for repeatedly asking what was going on. “They manhandled me it took two officers to get the cuffs on me,” she said. Adding, “I wanted to know why were they there. Who are you? Show us a search warrant. “I asked for a search warrant, I guess, one too many times. And [the officer] was like, ‘Arrest her.’” Bures’ 7-year-old daughter, who once trusted the police, in that moment feared that the police were going to shoot her and her little brother. “To hear her say that, to worry about her or her brother getting shot by someone that is supposed to protect and serve them, it’s terrifying,” her mother said in a press conference on Monday. “It’s horrible.” Bures’ attorney, Al Hofeld Jr., told CBS Chicago that the suspect hadn’t lived at the address in five years and that this type of behavior only worsens the community’s mistrust of the police even more. “As long as they continue to do that, there will never be trust between citizens and the Chicago Police Department,” Hofeld stressed. Adding, that had the CPD took the time to do their research homework, this incident never would have happened. “My law firm took 30 seconds to do a person search and came up with [the suspect’s] most current address, which is on 83rd street nowhere near the property.” The Tribune reported that in addition to raiding the wrong home, the lawsuit also accuses CPD officers of “handcuffing several adults in front of the children even though no one disobeyed orders, ransacking the family’s home, taking hinges off the doors, prying open wall panels, flipping mattresses, throwing a TV to the floor, dousing the presents with hydrogen peroxide and pouring vodka over clothes.” CPD officials have yet to release a public statement about the lawsuit. Now, this isn’t the first time CPD has faced a lawsuit brought for raiding the wrong home. As the Tribune pointed out, just last June, the city settled for $2.5 million with the family of a 3-year-old girl who suffered post-traumatic stress disorder after an officer pointed a gun at her chest when raiding the wrong address. Source: Serato / Serato Premier audio software company Serato is releasing a new software called Serato Studio which is a DJ-Centric DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) that aims to ease DJs into the production flow using its beat making and mixing features. Source: Serato / Serato When DJs load up Serato Studio, they will be pleased to see that it still features all of the elements that have come to love with Serato. The new DAW features colored waveforms, EQ and filter controls, a mixing channel as well as cue points that will allow users to trigger sounds. Serato Studio will also provide DJs with “easy beat-making,” thanks to the DAW having over 100 pre-made drum patterns from different genres of music. The software’s 808-style step sequencer will even allow users to put their own patterns together. There is more than 30 effects presets as well as a library of instruments, loops and built in-sounds to utilize. A vital tool for DJs is organizing, of course, and Serato Studio’s use of intuitive layouts will help keep things nice and neat for users. You will be able to easily divide your track into segments and since Studio’s DAW borrows from Serato DJ’s logging system users can organize their tracks into digital crates for easier recall. Serato Studio is compatible with Roland TR-8S, Numark Party Mix, Pioneer DJ DDJ‑SX3, Denon DJ X1800 Prime and more. Due to an overwhelming response, Serato had to pause the beta but will allow you to still sign-up to be notified when it opens again. Kelly’s former hair stylist, Lanita Carter, who was once an anonymous accuser, revealed her identity today on “CBS This Morning.” Text “RICKEY”to 71007 to join the Rickey Smiley Morning Show mobile club for exclusive news . ( Terms and conditions ). In her sit down interview, Carter spoke about the sexual assault she experienced at the hands of Kelly in 2003, when she was 24-years-old. Carter said she had been working as Kelly’s braider for a year and even defended him in 2002, when he was arrested on child pornography charges. Carter described Kelly with two words: “Perfect gentleman.” “I would tell people, ‘Pray for him. I do his hair. He is nothing like what they say.’ On, February 18, 2003, Carter alleged that Kelly called her in to braid his hair. Later, he asked her to massage his head. She told him she didn’t do massages, “I laughed it off. I didn’t know he was for real. If I could change that day, I wouldn’t have been there.” Kelly allegedly yanked her head down by her braid and demanded that he perform oral sex on her. Carter said Kelly repeatedly told her, “Suck it for Daddy.” Carter tried to shield herself from his body with her hand, pulling away from him. Email Submit Carter said the only thing that made him stop was someone knocking on the door. “He didn’t open the door right away. He says, ‘Fix your face. Fix your muthaf*cking face.’ I knew that’ll be my last day there.” Carter went to the bathroom and started questioning herself. “I get to the bathroom and I grab the wall and it was a rose colored towel. I wipe my face. I’m not dressed no type of way. I look at myself in the mirror, I’m not a beauty queen. I didn’t perceive myself to be more than just his hair braider. And I just kept thinking to myself, why did this happen to me.” Carter called authorities the same day to report the incident. SEE ALSO: R. Semen.” For whatever reason, charges were not filed against Kelly in 2003. Carter offered her theory about the reason why this might have been so. “Celebrities are powerful. Celebrities have support systems. I have no support system outside of my immediate family.” Six months later, Carter signed a $650,000 settlement where Kelly denied any wrong doing and Carter agreed to keep quiet. In 2009, R. Kelly released, “Hair Braider” a song about having sex with the woman who braids his hair. Carter said there were references to her in the lyrics and music video. Kelly sings, “Zig zag braids, got em looking like spaghetti.” Carter said, “That was one of the hair styles that I was known for doing. We were on the L shaped couch when the incident happened.” The song led to another confidential settlement, this one for $100,000. In documents, Kelly denies any wrong doing but agreed never to perform it again or include it on any of his future albums. After the documentary, Cook County State Attorney Kimberly Foxx asked that victims of Kelly come forward and share their stories. Carter said, “I would be going on with my day, you turn on the news, here’s another R. Kelly victim. Another R. Kelly victim. Another R. Kelly victim. You just want to be there for them.” Carter said that interestingly enough, Kelly’s interview with Gayle King that inspired her to come forward and tell her story publicly. “I know that I love myself today. I know that I don’t care what anybody say about me. This is a release. I been carrying this since 2003. I don’t want to be in the public but this is my life.
