Islamic School Of Rhode Island Vandalized With “Hate Crime” Graffiti This is just despicable. Who does something like this to children? According to Providence Journal reports : The Islamic School of Rhode Island was vandalized over the weekend. Hilmy Bakri, president of the school’s Board of Trustees, said Sunday that racial slurs were spray-painted on the school, at 840 Rear Providence St. Photos of the school circulating on social media and sent to The Providence Journal show doors covered with the words, “Now this is a hate crime” and “pigs,” along with expletives referring to the prophet Muhammad and to Allah, the Arabic word for God. “I find it very upsetting,” said Rabbi Sarah Mack, of Temple Beth-El in Providence. “The Muslim community in Rhode Island is very open and peaceful.” West Warwick police would not immediately comment Sunday evening until a police report could be reviewed. The Islamic School of Rhode Island opened in 2003 as the first Muslim school in the state. They’ve never been targeted by vandalization or threats before and ironically this disgusting display happened just one day after the school held a vigil for the three Muslim victims in Chapel Hill, N.C.— Deah Shaddy Barakat, his wife Yusor Mohammad Abu-Salha and her sister Razan, who were killed by Craig Stephen Hicks. Hicks says he’s an atheist and police have claimed an ongoing dispute over a parking space fueled the killings but many people believe Hicks actions constitute hate crimes. Is it just us or are anti-Islamic sentiments growing even stronger? It’s so sad.

GOP Congressman Says President Obama Refuses To Acknowledge Islamic Radicals Because He Was Muslim In School via Think Progress Six years into his presidency, the GOP’s obsession with President Obama’s adolescence continues unabated. The latest iteration comes via Rep. Mo Brooks (R-AL), who appeared on The Matt Murphy Show Tuesday morning, who invoked Obama’s childhood in Indonesia to explain why Obama is not using the term “radical Islam” to describe terrorism. Though birtherism may be all but dead in conservative circles, for the final two years of Obama’s presidency, new theories like this about Obama’s adolescent education may take its place. Murphy asked the Alabama congressman why Obama “refuses to clearly identify the enemy we’re fighting” as “radical Islam.” He then declared that “radical Islam” is “the nicest way you can put it. The only other way to put it is, it’s Islam generally.” Brooks agreed, offering a theory why Obama prefers not to use the term “radical Islam.” “It’s probably an unfortunate byproduct of the days when he was in a Muslim school being taught that Islam is a religion of peace,” he said. “And the president bought into it to such a degree that he does not seem to recognize that there are elements of Islam that are very violent.” As a result, he continued, “This president is exhibiting weakness and that is putting America at risk.” Brooks wrapped up by accusing Obama of employing “a policy that tends to encourage attacks on the United States of America rather than discourage them.”

Gun Range Owner Bans Muslims And Sees Steep Increase In Business We posted a story about this woman and her gun range last October and now she’s gettin’ gwap hand-over-fist! Via Breitbart In the five months since Hot Springs, Arkansas, gun range owner Jan Morgan banned Muslims from her facilities, she has seen business quadruple. She has also faced threats and the prospect of lawsuits, which so far, have not materialized. Morgan owns Gun Cave Indoor Firing Range. According to Fox News, Morgan decided to ban Muslims after “two customers she deemed suspicious” showed up in September. Since that time, she has excluded those “she believes to be Muslim based upon their names.” Morgan sees it as a safety issue. She said, “We are dealing in lethal firearms. I am not going to let a Nazi shoot in here, or a Ku Klux Klan member in here, either.” The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) has written Attorney General Eric Holder asking him to intervene. In the letter, CAIR said, “Given the recent spike in anti-Muslim rhetoric, including Islamophobic statements by government officials, community leaders and media outlets, death threats, and other bias incidents targeting Muslims, I urge you to investigate this matter soon.” CAIR argued that banning Muslims from the shooting range “is a violation of federal laws prohibiting racial and religious discrimination.” The ACLU is also asked the DOJ to do something about Morgan’s policies, and they want to talk to any Muslim who gets turned away from Morgan’s shooting range. But Morgan is standing her ground. She compared “offering target practice to potential terrorists to flight schools offering lessons to the 9/11 terrorists.” A caption on an image of Morgan with a gun says, “I am the infidel your imam warned you about.” Only in ‘Merikkka. Turkish President Says Muslims, Not Columbus, Discovered America Turkey’s President wants the world to know that Muslims had a place in the Americas long before Christopher Columbus paved the way for colonization. Via NY Post reports : President Recep Tayyip Erdogan spoke Saturday in Istanbul at a summit comprised of Muslim leaders from Latin America and claimed that Islamic sailors stumbled upon the New World more than 300 years before the famed Italian made landfall. “Muslims discovered America in 1178, not Christopher Columbus,” he said, according to the Daily Mail . “Contacts between Latin America and Islam date back to the 12th century. Columbus mentioned the existence of a mosque on a hill on the Cuban coast.” The Spanish-employed sailor did speak of a mosque in his personal diary, which was published in 1996, but the notion has been widely considered to be a misunderstanding and should instead be viewed as a metaphor for the shape of the landscape. The fact that no Islamic structures have been unearthed that pre-date Columbus also debunks Erdogan’s claims. Despite this, the Turkish leader proudly disregarded Columbus’ purported discovery of America in 1492 and preached that a link should instead be established between Muslims and the Latin American people. “I would like to talk about it to my Cuban brothers,” he added. “A mosque would go perfectly on the hill today.” Do you think his theory holds water? Fox News Host Says Muslims Should Be Profiled For what was deemed the “most controversial” topic ever discussed on Fox ’s Cashin’ In, all the guests seemed to agree: It’s time to start profiling Muslims in America. Via Raw Story reports: “While the administration buries its head in the sand,” host Eric Bolling said of alleged jihadist recruitment in the United States, “we know how to find terrorists among us: Profile, profile, profile.” M*A*S*H star-turned-investor Wayne Rogers agreed: “There’s no other way. You’ve got to do it. It’s stupid not to.” Co-panelist Jonathan Hoenig seconded the motion, perhaps going a bit further: We should have been profiling on September 12, 2001. Let’s take a trip down memory lane here: The last war this country won, we put Japanese-Americans in internment camps, we dropped nuclear bombs on residential city centers. So, yes, profiling would be at least a good start. It’s not on skin color, however, it’s on ideology: Muslim, Islamists, jihadist. That’s a good start but it’s only a start. We need to stop giving Korans to Gitmo prisoners, we need to stop having Ramadan and Iftar celebrations in the White House. We need to stop saying the enemy is not Islamic. They are. Bolling then rattled off historical terrorist attacks: The 1983 Beirut barracks bombing, the 1988 Pan Am Flight 103 bombing, the 1993 World Trade Center bombing, the 9/11 attacks, and the Boston Marathon bombing. The “common thread” he found? “Muslim males.” And so: “Is it okay to say it’s time to start profiling Muslim males? I say, yes, it is.” Newly-minted Fox contributor Michelle Fields also concurred: We don’t have a problem with extreme Buddhists. We have a problem with extreme Muslims; to ignore that is not fair. This is to protect all Americans: Christian and Muslim Americans, everyone. Because they pose a danger to all of us. And if you’re a Muslim who’s going to Syria, yes, you should be tracked. We should know what you’re doing there, why you’re going there. I don’t think that that’s irresponsible. Do you think Muslims should be profiled???

Daycare Worker Convicted Of Kidnap And Rape Of Five-Year-Old Via DailyMail : A former day care worker in Philadelphia was convicted Friday of abducting a 5-year-old girl from her school classroom and sexually assaulting her during a 19-hour ordeal. Christina Regusters, 21, donned a Muslim dress and veil to impersonate the girl’s mother and take her from Bryant Elementary School in January 2013, then posed as three different people to trick the blindfolded child. The girl was found half-naked the next morning at a cold, dark playground. The defense had questioned during the three-week trial whether Regusters could have acted alone. But prosecutors said she had viewed child pornography and Japanese anime involving child sexual torture and also looked up how to destroy DNA evidence. ‘All the evidence pointed to the existence of one abductor and assailant — Regusters,’ prosecutor Erin O’Brien said. Regusters, who is scheduled for sentencing Dec. 15, was convicted of all counts, including kidnapping, aggravated assault and indecent deviate sexual intercourse. She turned down a plea that would have put her behind bars for 40 years to 80 years, according to her attorney. The child said she was blindfolded and stashed under a bed for most of her captivity. But she recalled hearing a talking bird, a key detail that helped police close in on a suspect. The defense argued that three other people home that day would have heard the girl’s cries during the attack. Defense attorney W. Fred Harrison Jr. suggested an alternative theory: that his client helped an unnamed man commit the crime. Regusters’ DNA — along with a trace of semen — was found on the T-shirt the girl was wearing when she was located. However, other key evidence was never found, including the girl’s clothes, her backpack, the clothing the kidnapper wore in the school or the object believed to have been used in the attack. After the verdict, Harrison said he still believes other people were involved. ‘I just don’t think that this plan was something conceived by a 19-year-old to do all that was done in this case,’ Harrison said. ‘I just don’t believe it.’ This is one of the worst stories we’ve ever seen. 80 years isn’t even enough.

Ms. Marvel: Superhero Reinvented as Kamala Khan, Muslim Teen!

Ms. Marvel is back and more diverse than ever, having been reintroduced in the newly rebranded Marvel NOW! series as a Muslim teenager named Kamala Khan. The child of immigrant Pakistani parents, Kamala now lives in New Jersey. She’s “among the first to be a series protagonist who is both a woman and Muslim,” Time reports, as Marvel strives to “reflect a growing diversity among its readers.” The previous Ms. Marvel, Carol Danvers, went on to become Captain Marvel, boasting a range of superpowers that included strength, speed and flight. Kamala will have the ability to grown and shrink her body. She’ll ultimately be able to shape shift, as well, all while paying homage to her predecessor. After discovering her powers, Kamala takes on the mantle her childhood hero, Carol Danvers, a title left behind when she did become Captain Marvel. Editor Sana Amanat said when discussing Khan’s identity: “Captain Marvel represents an ideal that Kamala pines for. She’s strong, beautiful and doesn’t have any of the baggage of being Pakistani and ‘different.'” “Her brother is conservative. Her mom is paranoid that she’s going to touch a boy and get pregnant. Her father wants her to concentrate on her studies and become a doctor.” The series will be written by G. Willow Wilson, who explains, “I wanted Ms. Marvel to be true-to-life, something real people could relate to, particularly young women.” Marvel CEO Axel Alonso compares Kamala to another legend that is not Muslim or female, saying “Kamala is not unlike Peter Parker,” a.k.a. Spider-Man. “She’s a 16-year-old girl from the suburbs who tries to figure out who she is and trying to forge an identity when she suddenly bestows great power.” Like Parker, she “learns the great responsibility that comes with it.” Marvel does expect “some negativity,” not only from people who are anti-Muslim, but from Muslims who “might want the character portrayed in a particular light.” Clearly, that possibility isn’t enough to dissuade them, however.
