Source: Anthony Geathers / Getty This past weekend Deontay Wilder defeated Luis “King Kong” Ortiz in one of the biggest fights of his career. CBS Sports reports that after fighting Ortiz, he yelled, “King Kong’ ain’t got nothing on me! A true champion always finds a way to come back and that’s what I did tonight. If you speak it and believe it, you will receive it, baby. The mind is very powerful.” Follow @TheRSMS Fans screamed during Round 7 as they saw Wilder outbox his opponent. Three rounds later Ortiz ended up on the floor and was picked up by the ref, he tried to continue to fight, but moments later was knocked to the ground again. Wilder ended up defeating Ortiz and the crowd full of fans at the Barclays Center were excited for him. That’s what the f— it’s all about.” Ortiz believes he could of beat Wilder. The scorecard before the knockout showed Ortiz winning. Congratulations to Deontay Wilder! Tamika Mallory Responds To Nation Of Islam Controversy: ‘Wherever My People Are Is Where I Must Be’

Editor’s note :  Activist Tamika Mallory has faced backlash in recent weeks for attending  Saviour’s Day,  an annual gathering held by the Nation of Islam in Chicago last month.  In an exclusive op-ed for NewsOne , the Women’s March co-chair addresses the criticism, her connection to the event and her commitment to building an “intersectional movement. Source: Dimitrios Kambouris / Getty I proudly serve as a leader for one of the largest women’s advocacy organizations in the world. For that reason, my recent presence at the Nation of Islam’s Saviour’s Day convocation troubled some of the very people who I have fought for and worked alongside for most of my life. I have heard the pain and concerns of my LGBTQAI siblings, my Jewish friends and Black women (including those who do and those who don’t check off either of those other boxes.) I affirm the validity of those feelings, and as I continue to grow and learn as both an activist and as a woman, I will continue to grapple with the complicated nature of working across ideological lines and the question of how to do so without causing harm to vulnerable people. I didn’t expect my presence at Saviour’s Day to lead anyone to question my beliefs, especially considering that I have been going to this event regularly for over 30 years. I first went with my parents when I was just a little girl, and would begin attending on my own after my son’s father was murdered nearly 17 years ago. In that most difficult period of my life, it was the women of the Nation of Islam who supported me and I have always held them close to my heart for that reason.   I am the same woman who helped to build an intersectional movement that fights for the rights of all people and stands against hatred and discrimination of all forms. I am the same person today that I was before Saviour’s Day, which begs the question – why are my beliefs being questioned now? I was raised in activism and believe that as historically oppressed people, Blacks, Jews, Muslims and all people must stand together to fight racism, anti-Semitism and Islamophobia. I believe that LGBTQAI people are not an abomination or a creation of man, but simply people, and that religion is not to be used as a tool to abuse, divide, harm, bully or intimidate. Where my people are is where I must also be. I go into difficult spaces. I attend meetings with police and legislators—the very folks so much of my protest has been directed towards. I’ve partnered and sat with countless groups, activists, religious leaders and institutions over the past 20 years. I’ve worked in prisons as well as with present and former gang members. It is impossible for me to agree with every statement or share every viewpoint of the many people who I have worked with or will work with in the future. As I do not wish to be held responsible for the words of others when my own history shows that I stand in opposition to them, I also do not think it is fair to question anyone who works with me, who supports my work and who is a member of this movement because of the ways that I may have fallen short here or in any other instance. My fellow Women’s March leaders believe that we can be the bridge to connect different groups in the name of our shared liberation. We don’t just step into difficult spaces, we create new ones. I am guided by the loving principles of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. , though I have fallen short of them at times. And it is with the belief that “non-violence seeks to win friendship and understanding” and “non-violence seeks to defeat injustice, not people” that we organized a march on January 21, 2017, that 5 million people participated in worldwide; and we have been guided by those values the whole way through. It is my intention to walk the tradition of Dr . Dorothy Height , successor to Mary McLeod Bethune as President of the National Council of Negro Women. In 1995, she faced criticism for participating in the Million Man March, which was organized by the Nation of Islam. Financial support was withheld from her organization, and there were attempts to bully and intimidate her. Nevertheless, she stood strong and proudly addressed the massive crowd of Black people who gathered on the National Mall. Her first words? “I am here because you are here.” I also take cues from my mentor, Hazel N. Dukes , President of the New York State Conference of the NAACP, who has brought together Muslims, Blacks and Jewish people and clergy from all denominations. Her office and her home are open to gang members, teen mothers and formerly incarcerated people as well. Coalition work is not easy, and these women have operated from a place of authentic love for all people. My work requires an operational unity that is sometimes extremely painful and uncomfortable, even for me. But I push forward even when I am personally conflicted because our people are more important. – Tamika D. Fischetti, his lawyer states that if he is convicted he not only will be deported, but will face not being allowed back into the United States. Fischetti is pushing for all of his charges to be dropped. He said, “He would thus be exiled from the United States, an extraordinarily harsh consequence, preventing him from, among other things, ever pursuing an education at a college or university in the United States.” Greenwood allegedly punched a student after calling him the n-word. Is The Arresting Officer In The Meek Mill Case A Corrupt Cop?

View post:

Source: Steven Lawton / Getty Officer Reginald Graham played a huge role in Meek Mill ’s arrest in 2007 for gun and drug charges. According to TMZ , Graham is 1 of 29 officers that were placed on a list that warned prosecutors to keep them off their witness stands. The list was obtained by the Philadelphia Inquirer and his name was discovered on it. Follow @TheRSMS Graham was “investigated by federal authorities for several alleged acts of corruption.” He was also the only witness during the Mill trial in 2008. Mill’s attorney said, “The list — first obtained by the Philadelphia Inquirer — states Graham was “investigated by federal authorities for several alleged acts of corruption.” Graham was the only witness in Meek’s 2008 trial. The release of the so-called ‘Do Not Testify’ list supports everything in the motions filed by Mill and others wrongfully arrested by Officer Graham for post-conviction relief.” At that time Mill was placed on probation for 10 years. In November the rapper was sentenced to 2 to 4 years in prison for violating probation. We will keep you updated on this story. Migos Songs Get Interesting Reactions From Elders [VIDEO]

See the original post here:

Source: Kevin Mazur / Getty For some people understanding what Migos is saying in their songs can be hard. A video posted had elders listening to the group and watching them. The company even wrote out the words for the elders to read, but they still didn’t get it. Follow @TheRSMS As the first song came on everyone loved the beat and then read some of the vulgar lyrics. The elders didn’t agree with them exploiting women, talking about making drugs and felt they needed more of a positive message. In the last part they began understanding more of the lyrics and how they were talking about fashion and money. At the end of the video the young lady spoke to the elders about the success of the Migos and how they had multiple songs on Billboard 100 as well as Top 10. The elders believe that the group will break up one day and go towards solo careers. Although they didn’t like the lyrics it is somewhat about what they grew up around. One of the elders said, “Music is poetry and poetry comes from life experiences.” Watch the video and let us know your thoughts! RELATED:  Did XXXTentacion Just Escalate Tensions Between Him & Migos? Iyanla Vanzant’s Advice For Tamar Braxton & Women Who Blame Their Friends For The Demise Of Their Relationships

View post:

Source: Leon Bennett / Getty Beloved soul stirrer and spirit healer  Iyanla Vanzant is gearing up for the new season of ‘Fix My Life,’ with a little advice for reality star singer Tamar Braxton and her estranged husband Vince Herbert. During recent press rounds for ‘Tamar and Vince,’ the couple visited ‘The View’ together and finally addressed the ugly rumors surrounding their marriage, revealing a lot of their drama stemmed from Tamar’s ‘so called friends.’ In December, Tamar told her Instagram followers that Vince was expecting a child with another woman . The ‘Love & War’ songstress has since backtracked on the claim, saying ‘people being in her business,’ was the source of a lot of their relationship drama. “You have to take responsibility for telling too much your business. I should’ve said, this is what my ‘so-called’ friends are telling me. The pregnancy rumors came from my friends,” Tay told the hosts. When HelloBeautiful asked Iyanla her thoughts surrounding friends being too involved in their loved one’s relationship, Iyanla had this to say: “No relationship is destroyed by the outside in. All relationships disintegrate from the inside out. There is something in the relationship that is in break down, or that is failing to operating accordingly. If there is a strong enough infrastructure, no matter what comes at the relationship, it will be able to survive.” READ MORE:  UNPOPULAR OPINION: You Can’t Ask All Your Girlfriends For Relationship Advice So what happens to the friends who are often bystanders to their friend’s toxic relationships? Iyanla recommends one thing: Prayer. “Sometimes it’s difficult watching a loved one hit rock bottom but then you have to remember it’s God who made the rock.So while to us it looks dramatic and unnecessary there is something this person is learning. So our job as bystanders is to call forth the highest and the greatest good, and not get caught up in the details. Don’t get caught up in the fact that he is ‘boo boo the fool’ and she’s madly in love with him. Let’s surround her in light. Let’s pray while she’s learning this lesson she doesn’t get physically harmed or injured. Let’s call forth the good in her. Let’s call forth the good in him. Amen. T he chaos continues in The White House. After Hope Hicks “resigned,”  Donald Trump is now reportedly looking for his daughter Ivanka and son-in-law Jared Kusher to hit the road. According to The New York Times , “Privately, some aides have expressed frustration that Mr. Kushner and his wife, the president’s daughter Ivanka Trump, have remained at the White House, despite Mr. Trump at times saying they never should have come to the White House and should leave. Yet aides also noted that Mr. Trump has told the couple that they should keep serving in their roles, even as he has privately asked Mr. Kelly for his help in moving them out.” Earlier this week, Kushner lost his top secret security clearance and there were reports about banking regulators in  New York asking several lenders about their financial relationships with him.  Not that we are fans of Ivanka Trump , but you have to be cold-blooded to fire your own daughter.
