Nipsey Hussle was only 33 years old when he was shot and killed in front of his LA clothing store. Now we morn the lost of another young black man, who was a positive influence in his community. Time after time our King’s are taken from us way before their time, leaving many of our young people void of hope and confused to why our leaders are always taken from us. You don’t know whether to look up to some of your leaders, or be fearful they might be killed. You also hesitate to be a leader yourself because you don’t know if someone will one day take your life. I’m writing this because I feel those same pains as well. Why would I want to be Martin Luther King when he suffered such a horrible fate? Why would I want to emulate Tupac Shakoor when his murder still hasn’t been solved? The stories of our black leaders being killed is something that is ingrained into our history. Our post traumatic stress from seeing some of our greatest hero’s, bloody filled with bullet holes, runs deeper than most cultures can even fathom. But I’m here to tell you to stay strong. Don’t be afraid black man, because that’s what they want you to be. Still be a shining pillar in your community, because that’s what King wanted you to be. Continue to shed your lights on the truth because that’s what Nipsey wanted you to do. Yes, sometimes it feels like we are the most targeted people on the planet, but know that someone who looks just like you will pick up the mantle when you’re gone and one day we will be free of this feeling of fear in just wanting better for our people. For children, birthday parties are supposed to be fun, innocent and filled with cake and balloons. But one lawsuit alleges that the Chicago Police ruined that moment for one African-American 4-year-old boy when they raided the wrong apartment and pointed guns at the stunned partygoers. According to the Chicago Tribune , the incident took place on Feb. 10 when more than a dozen CPD officers stormed into Stephanie Bures’ South Side home using excessive force and repeatedly shouting the f-word at the party, a federal lawsuit alleges. Apparently, the police were targeting a suspect they believed was in possession of the drug ecstasy, but they obtained an old address for him. Instead of finding their suspect, they found a crowd of 15 surrounding a birthday cake. Bures claims that her son was traumatized as were the other children and adults when the police barged into her home, without knocking and without providing proof of a warrant. She told CBS Chicago that she was handcuffed for repeatedly asking what was going on. “They manhandled me it took two officers to get the cuffs on me,” she said. Adding, “I wanted to know why were they there. Who are you? Show us a search warrant. “I asked for a search warrant, I guess, one too many times. And [the officer] was like, ‘Arrest her.’” Bures’ 7-year-old daughter, who once trusted the police, in that moment feared that the police were going to shoot her and her little brother. “To hear her say that, to worry about her or her brother getting shot by someone that is supposed to protect and serve them, it’s terrifying,” her mother said in a press conference on Monday. “It’s horrible.” Bures’ attorney, Al Hofeld Jr., told CBS Chicago that the suspect hadn’t lived at the address in five years and that this type of behavior only worsens the community’s mistrust of the police even more. “As long as they continue to do that, there will never be trust between citizens and the Chicago Police Department,” Hofeld stressed. Adding, that had the CPD took the time to do their research homework, this incident never would have happened. “My law firm took 30 seconds to do a person search and came up with [the suspect’s] most current address, which is on 83rd street nowhere near the property.” The Tribune reported that in addition to raiding the wrong home, the lawsuit also accuses CPD officers of “handcuffing several adults in front of the children even though no one disobeyed orders, ransacking the family’s home, taking hinges off the doors, prying open wall panels, flipping mattresses, throwing a TV to the floor, dousing the presents with hydrogen peroxide and pouring vodka over clothes.” CPD officials have yet to release a public statement about the lawsuit. Now, this isn’t the first time CPD has faced a lawsuit brought for raiding the wrong home. As the Tribune pointed out, just last June, the city settled for $2.5 million with the family of a 3-year-old girl who suffered post-traumatic stress disorder after an officer pointed a gun at her chest when raiding the wrong address. Email Submit When she realized she was being abused There was a time I asked my friend and I called her, and I asked her the definition of sexually abused because some of my other friends they had had worse than me. And they’re like, ‘No, if he did that and that then you’ve been sexually abused.’ I kind of brushed it off. I’m not willing to put that out there for the world to see. They’re not going to see me as Simone the gymnast. They’re going to see me as Simone as the sexual abuse survivor. So I denied it and I buried it. And I was very depressed. I never left my room. I was sleeping all the time. And I told one of my lawyers, ‘I sleep all the time because it’s the closest thing to death.’ I told my mom first. I had just read the story about my friend coming out and I was bawling and I called my mom and then I told her. Then we had detectives come and stuff like that and that was the moment I realized. It’s a lot better now. It wasn’t easy but I feel like I’m a stronger woman today and I feel like telling my story has helped younger girls. I try not to let it alter how I behave because I want them to always know the real, raw Simone. In 2014 Nida, was sentenced to eight years for one count of conspiracy to commit bank fraud and was originally serving 96 months, but will now only serve 84 months, resulting in a possible August 2020 release date, according to The Blast. Nida plead guilty to the charge and was ordered to pay $2.3 million in restitution fees to the victims of his crimes. Phaedra Parks’ Ex-Husband Apollo Nida Is Getting Out Of Prison Much Sooner Than Expected

Source: BFG Images / Getty A new Florida House bill has been passed that allows teachers to volunteer to carry guns in schools if the local school boards approve, the Sun Sentinel reports. Email Submit Teachers that want to carry arms will have to undergo drug testing as well as psychological testing. They will also have to have 144 hours of firearms training and have a valid concealed weapon permit. The House Education Committee, which is led by Republicans, passed this school safety bill with a 11-5 vote. The bill is tied to the “Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School Public Safety Act” which says “each sheriff may establish a Coach Aaron Feis Guardian Program and appoint certain volunteer school employees as school guardians.” As of January 2019, there are 726 armed volunteer guardians in 25 Florida counties. The act was passed last year after a mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in the Parkland city of Florida left 17 people dead. “The more people that are there to defend students, to defend other teachers, the better,” Republican Rep. Jennifer Sullivan of Eustis said. “If a teacher does not want to go through the program, I don’t want them to go through the program.” The passing of this bill is opposed by teachers unions as well as Democratic representatives who don’t believe teachers should double as law enforcement. “Teachers want to teach children and broaden children’s minds,” Democratic Rep. Susan Valdes of Tampa told the Sun Sentinel. “If they wanted to be a cop, they would have gone to police academy and become a cop.” Republicans feel that with a bill like this in place, it will help prevent mass shootings at schools from happening. “If this bill was in place before Parkland, how many less lives would have been lost?” Republican Amber Mariano said in defense of the new legislation. Florida Teachers Can Volunteer To Carry Guns On School Grounds

Email Submit For everyone out there with some chicken in their freezer wondering which product specifically, it’s the buffalo and crispy style ready-to-eat variety, which were produced on November 30, 2018. That means that all of the recalled products should have a “best if used by” date of Nov. 30, 2019, along with the establishment number “P-7221” printed on the back. These products were shipped all around the country, including going to Washington and Michigan for “ institutional use. .“ SEE ALSO: Woman Pulls Gun On Domino’s Employees For Forgetting Chicken Wings The decision to recall the chicken came after a pair of customers complained of an “extraneous material” in their strips. This most recent situation definitely isn’t the first time a product of theirs has caused some trouble for the company. Tyson asked customers to return 36,000 pounds of chicken nuggets back in January because they may have been contaminated with rubber. The USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service gave this recall a “Class I” label, which means a high health risk and a “situation where there is a reasonable probability that the use of the product will cause serious, adverse health consequences or death.” Yikes. The agency says if you have any potentially contaminated strips in your fridge or freezer at the moment, you should return them to the store you got them from or just throw them out. The release also points out that “there have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products.
