After turning over his ownership of the Clippers to his equally bigoted wife , the team has finally been sold to a new owner. So, who’s the wealthy man with enough bank to drop 2 BILLION dollars for an NBA franchise? According to NYDailyNews : That’s $2 billion with an uppercase B! Former Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer has apparently won the bidding war Thursday for the Los Angeles Clippers with a staggering $2 billion offer for the NBA franchise, according to the L.A. Times. The frenzied battle to get the team from Sterling drove the franchise’s price sky high for a team that Forbes estimated was worth at $575 million back in January. The franchise has been in turmoil since owner Donald Sterling was recorded on tape by an associate making racist comments about Magic Johnson, among others. In short order, NBA commissioner Adam Silver slammed Sterling with an unprecedented lifetime ban for his remarks, imposed a $2.5 million fine, and began the process to force a sale of the Clippers. Sterling’s wife, Shelly, who owns 50 percent of the team had been reviewing five bids for the franchise. The Daily News reported on Friday that Sterling had decided to part with the team he bought for $12.5 million in 1981. According to the L.A. Times, the 58-year-old Ballmer, who is reportedly worth around $20 billion, apparently edged out groups led by Los Angeles-based investors Tony Ressler and Steve Karsh, as well as a group that included music mogul David Geffen and the Guggenheim Group, the owners of the Los Angeles Dodgers. As, the saying goes, “ loose lips sink ships !” His side chick appetite coupled with a racist attitude brought on his downfall. Looks like Old Man Sterling will just have to go have sit his racist azz down somewhere.

The American Idol finalist and star of Smash and the upcoming CBS drama Scorpion confirmed the news via her rep. The rep for McPhee told People: “After six years of marriage, and having been separated for the past year, Katharine McPhee has filed for a dissolution of marriage from Nick Cokas.” “The two have an amicable relationship and will remain friends.” “They ask that people respect their privacy during this time.” Last year, having become estranged from Cokas, McPhee was seen kissing Michael Morris , her Smash director who is married to actress Mary McCormack. Mark Cuban is not backing down. Speaking to Inc. magazine about the racist comment made by Donald Sterling over the past few weeks, along with the decision by NBA Commissioner Adam Silver to ban the 80-year old for life , the Dallas Mavericks owner said the league is setting a dangerous precedent. Does it really want to take action against executives for their words and thoughts? “We’re all prejudiced in one way or another,” Cuban said. “If I see a black kid in a hoodie and it’s late at night, I’m walking to the other side of the street. “And if on that side of the street, there’s a guy that has tattoos all over his face – white guy, bald head, tattoos everywhere – I’m walking back to the other side of the street. ” The Shark Tank star continued: “And the list goes on of stereotypes that we all live up to and are fearful of. So in my businesses, I try not to be hypocritical. I know that I’m not perfect. I know that I live in a glass house, and it’s not appropriate for me to throw stones.” Not long after making these comments, Cuban realized the mistake he made in using the hoodie example, considering Florida teenager Trayvon Martin was shot and killed by George Zimmerman in 2012. Zimmerman was found not guilty of murder after becoming suspicious of Martin – who was walking in his neighborhood while wearing a hooded sweatshirt – and then shooting him during a scuffle. “P/1: In hindsight I should have used different examples. I didn’t consider the Trayvon Martin family, and I apologize to them for that,” Cuban Tweeted last night. But aside from that apology, Cuban said he stands bu the “words and substance of the interview.” “I think that helping people improve their lives, helping people engage with people they may fear or may not understand,” he wrote. “And helping people realize that while we all may have our prejudices and bigotries.” Concluded the billionaire: “we have to learn that it’s an issue that we have to control, that it’s part of my responsibility as an entrepreneur to try to solve it.”
