Eclipse Cast Sounds Off on Miley Cyrus

For the record, Miley Cyrus hates pop music , Glee and, of course, pants . Now, the singer has added something else to her list of disdain. In an interview with E! News last week, the singer said: “I hate vampires.” Naturally, this led the network to speak to members of the Eclipse cast about Miley’s comments and they replied as follows: Taylor Lautner : “She doesn’t need to like vampires. As long as she likes werewolves, we’re cool.” Peter Facinelli : “I’m not necessarily a huge vampire fan, but I do love the books that Stephenie Meyer created. I love that you don’t see fangs. It’s not a horror movie by any means.” Elizabeth Reaser : “I’ve always been a fan of vampires since I was a little girl. I loved all the Anne Rice books. Maybe Miley’s resisting. Maybe they’re so popular now that it’s annoying or she’s sick of seeing us.” Kellan Lutz : “She hasn’t met me then. I would change her opinion on that, I’m sure. I have my ways.” Ashley Greene : “That’s so unfortunate because I love her new songs… I’m going to sit Miley down and force her to watch Twilight .”

Wall Street Tabloid Asks CNBC Anchor ‘How Does It Feel To Be A MILF?’

The editor of the Wall Street e-tabloid Dealbreaker on Wednesday actually asked CNBC anchor Trish Regan, “How does it feel to be classified as a MILF?” For those unfamiliar with the term — as was Regan! — it means “Mom I’d Like to,” well, let’s say have sex with. Nice thing to ask an Emmy-nominated 37-year-old mother of two, wouldn’t you agree? Yet that wasn’t even the worst of Bess Levin’s questions (Levin in bold, h/t TVNewser ): Question number 2: How do you feel you measured up next to Mandy and her assets? I think I held my own. For those that don’t watch CNBC, Amanda Drury was originally brought over from CNBC Asia to fill in for Melissa Francis who was going on maternity leave. When Levin asked about Mandy’s “assets,” she wasn’t referring to her stock portfolio if you catch my drift. As such, Regan was being questioned about how her bra size compared with Drury’s. Seem a little childish to you? Wait. It gets worse:  Question number 3: If you had to: Charlie Gasparino or Dennis Kneale? Killing yourself is not an acceptable answer. I think I would have to kill myself. Or be on life-support. And then? Who would it be? You think it would still be appealing for them? Dennis Kneale and Charlie Gasparino? Yes, one of them would definitely still go for it, if not both. Question number 4: Just so we can be fair, in that same vein, if you had to get down and dirty with one of the anchorettes on CNBC, whom would you choose? See this question is just as hard as the last but for the opposite reason. I’m not into women but if I were it would be really difficult. We have a lot of beautiful ladies at CNBC. Add it all up, and Regan was asked: how she feels about young men wanting to have sex with her; which guy on her network she’d like to have sex with, and; which woman.  All of this raises a number of questions such as what is this Dealbreaker, and why would a serious journalist want to have anything to do with it? Fortunately, fashion magazine Elle did an article on Levin in April offering us some insights: The 25-year-old editor of Dealbreaker.com, the financial industry’s online tabloid that reports on corporate scandals and insider gossip, some of which she overhears at happy hour in the finance world’s watering holes, has become a mustread on Wall Street. Posting nine times a day, she’s been known to scoop the mainstream business media and retains a fiercely loyal following who seem to have an infinite appetite for her biting, off-kilter commentary about the money business- you don’t see The Wall Street Journal running headlines like “Neil Barofsky Will Cut a Bitch” or “Spotted: Ruth Madoff Getting Her Tan On.” Dealbreaker, which draws 300,000 unique visitors a month, has posted hedge funds’ for-investor-eyes-only marketing materials, which three years ago sparked a lawsuit that named Levin and Dealbreaker’s publisher; they later settled. During the Bank of America and Merrill Lynch merger last year, Merrill employees depended on Levin to report what their company wasn’t telling them.  The New York Observer recently wrote of Levin: Because of someone else’s car accident and a physics-class coincidence, Bess Levin is the most important young Wall Street blogger in the country. But Dealbreaker has a certain crackle-a taste for picking out and serving up the day’s fascinating little nuggets of finance news. It’s a must-read.  John Friedman wrote about Levin earlier this month: Levin, at only 25 years old, is reputed to be the scourge of Wall Street. Clearly, she gets a kick out of poking holes in the pompous image of Wall Street professionals, to the delight of journalists who don’t have the same cleverness — or freedom — to write like her. The media universe embraces Levin as a symbol of the Really New Journalism (sorry, Tom Wolfe), someone whose job description is to lampoon the establishment and entertain the masses with both biting and good-natured sarcasm. Levin has a knack for writing irreverent, witty and insightful stuff. But what makes proudly hard-bitten journalists look at her in something approaching awe is her precocious age. Levin is not too far removed from attending Amherst College or, even high school in suburban New Jersey. That seems like part of the attraction. But Friedman made a more salient observation: Much of Levin’s success results from the states of the journalism and Wall Street landscapes. The rise of the Internet has attracted a large number of young readers who would sooner dig a ditch than buy a newspaper or a magazine at a newsstand. This situation has forced the nation’s once-stodgy media companies to dig deep to tape [sic] young, adventurous writers, who are at home on the Web and can communicate with their peers. Which likely explains the need for the tawdry, but why would someone like Regan, who just gave birth to twin daughters, want to associate with someone who views her website’s approach as “Wall Street torture porn?” It’s certainly not for the exposure, as despite Elle’s fawning, 300,000 unique reads a month is nothing; NewsBusters typically does over 5 million. As for the whole peer thing, one doesn’t imagine Regan at 37, and a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, views Levin as her contemporary. With this in mind, although Dealbreaker devotees might have loved these sex-related questions — according to Levin, they came from readers — I’m having a hard time understanding why the seemingly conservative Regan put herself in this position. Isn’t this degrading to women looking to be taken seriously in the business world and not be treated as sex objects? Or is this the state of modern feminism?   As for Levin, who clearly must be doing something right given her glowing reviews, one has to wonder why someone of her intellectual capacity feels the need to occasionally wander into the gutter. If she really has the eyes and ears of hedge fund managers and financial sector CEOs, can’t she keep their attention without the smut?  As the father of a sixteen-year-old girl, I certainly hope so.

Heroes Movie Sounds Iffy

In today’s superhero-saturated world, do we really need a return engagement with a whole bunch of putative crusaders who almost never use their powers? That was NBC’ s thinking when the network snuffed the low-rated Heroes , and though creator Tim Kring has been trying to muster up support for a wrap-up movie, he admits to EW that he network has yet to pull the trigger. “Movies sometimes need a little distance from the television show,” he rationalized. Sorry, Tim. We’ve already moved on to Ant-Man . [ EW ]

Rachel Bilson & Hayden Christensen: It May Be Over

Engaged couple Rachel Bilson and Hayden Christensen are “taking a break,” according to sources, one that may lead to a permanent end to their relationship. Bilson flashed a ringless finger to Us Weekly on the red carpet of the Take No Prisoners event in L.A. Wednesday when asked how wedding plans are going. “No, no plans,” she said, pointing to her bare hand. “No nothing.” Well then. Quite the awkward moment for the reporter! The couple, who co-starred in 2008 action flick Jumper , and got engaged in 2009, are “taking about a month off” and will revisit their future together then. The self-imposed break began about two weeks ago, after Rachel watched him attempt to act in the Star Wars trilogy. Just kidding. But he was pretty bad. We wish the couple the best … whatever that may be .

Report: Half the Jersey Shore Cast to Be Fired

Earlier this year, we told you Jersey Shore was looking for a new crop of fake-tanned faces to integrate with or flat-out replace its familiar, fake-tanned ones. Now it looks like a four and four scenario: Four stay, four go. Then Ronnie hops in a 4×4 and raises all sorts of hell when he realizes he’s just gotten a pink slip. That’s the rumor. MTV sources say this season’s footage of Ronnie Magro, Sammi Giancola , Vinny Guadagnino and Angelina Pivarnick has been “underwhelming.” At least according to the network brass. As for replacing them for Season 3, one source said, “They should be very worried .” No fist-pumping for you, Ron-Ron. As for The Situation, Snooki, Pauly D and JWoww, they’re reportedly sold for next season, and may be melded with a fresh group of guidos/ettes at that time. This in spite of The Situation’s diva-like antics . Guy brings in viewers!

Bryant Leads Fourth Quarter Rally As Lakers Knock Off Celtics, 83-79

Los Angeles, CA (Sports Network) – Kobe Bryant and the Lakers looked half- asleep at times during their most important game of the season, but in the end it was their suffocating defense that propelled them to a 83-79 Game 7 win over the Boston Celtics to capture their 16th NBA championship and second in a row. Bryant captured his fifth title despite going 6-of-24 from the field for just 23 points, as the Lakers used their length to win the rebounding battle by a sizeable 53-40 margin. He also added 15 rebounds, while Pau Gasol provided a huge presence inside with 19 points and 18 boards. Ron Artest added 20 points in the win. “This is the sweetest (of the five),” Bryant said as he accepted the Bill Russell Award as Finals MVP. “We understood how badly the city wanted it. This one is by far the sweetest because it was against (Boston) and it was the hardest, by far.” Boston held the lead for a majority of the game, but Los Angeles outscored the Celtics, 30-22, in a decisive fourth quarter, including 10 points from Bryant. “I try not to (get caught in the hype of a Game 7). Tonight, it got the best of me,” Bryant said. “I wanted it so bad. Sometimes when you want something so bad, it slips away from you. I can’t say enough about (Gasol). We wouldn’t have won it without him.” Historically, the Celtics had dominated the Lakers in the NBA Finals coming into this matchup, winning nine of the previous 11 series, including 4-of-4 Game 7s. Los Angeles, though, exacted some revenge for its 2008 loss to Boston and handed head coach Phil Jackson his 11th championship — extending a record. Paul Pierce led a balanced Boston attack with 18 points, but the Celtics didn’t have enough firepower despite a heroic defensive effort for the first three quarters. Pierce also added 10 rebounds, although the C’s clearly missed their center in Kendrick Perkins , who sat out the game after spraining his knee in Game 6. Rasheed Wallace , who started in his place, finished with 11 points and eight rebounds. Kevin Garnett added 17 points, while Ray Allen struggled with only 13 on 3-of- 14 shooting, as Boston failed in its attempt to win its second title in three years. Gasol’s basket on the opening possession of the fourth quarter brought the Lakers to within 57-55, but both teams had some ugly play over the next few minutes. Neither team scored for over 2 1/2 minutes, until Garnett’s short bank shot put the Celtics back up by four with nine minutes to go. The Lakers, who trailed for all of the third and the first four-plus minutes of the fourth, finally drew even with Boston on Artest’s acrobatic three-point play in the lane, making it a 61-61 game with 7:28 to play. After Derek Fisher kept the game tied with a rainbow three-pointer, Bryant gave LA its first lead of the second half with a pair of free throws for a 66-64 advantage with 5:56 showing on the clock. Following an Allen miss on the other end, Bryant rose up just inside the arc and drilled a jumper for a four-point Lakers lead. Boston settled for another deep shot on its next possession — a Pierce miss from three — and Gasol extended the LA lead to six, 70-64, on a pair from the line with 4:38 to go. The Celtics managed to stay in it, climbing back to within three on a Garnett dunk with 3:21 left, but a Gasol layup with 1:30 left seemed to give the Lakers an insurmountable edge at 76-70. The dormant offenses finally got going in the final moments, as Wallace and Allen drained threes around an Artest triple to pull within 79-76 with 51.3 ticks remaining. Bryant tried to continue the three-point shooting contest, but missed; however, Gasol was there to grab the rebound, dish to Bryant in the lane, and Bryant drilled two free throws after a foul for a five-point advantage with 25.7 seconds to play. Rondo kept it interesting with a three-pointer in the corner off a broken play with 16.2 seconds left, making it a two-point game. The Lakers then chose to substitute little-used Sasha Vujacic in for Artest, and Vujacic was fouled with 11.7 seconds left. Vujacic came up big, sinking both free throw attempts for a four-point lead, and Rondo’s missed three-point attempt in the final seconds sealed Boston’s fate. The story in the early moments was Boston’s shooting prowess versus Los Angeles’ rebounding ability. Without Perkins manning the middle, the Lakers were able to outrebound the Celtics, 10-3, in the first few minutes, but shot a dismal 3-of-15 from the field. Meanwhile, the Celtics made five of their first six shots, including two baskets apiece from starting center Wallace and Rajon Rondo , en route to a 10-7 edge after 4 1/2 minutes of play. While Los Angeles continued to struggle from the field, the Celtics slowly increased their lead with help from Glen Davis . Davis added six points in the opening period to help the visitors take a 23-14 advantage to the second quarter. Bryant was a non-factor for the hosts to start, going 1-of-7 from the field for three total points. LA, though, got back into the game quickly in the second quarter, beginning the frame on a 11-0 burst to move in front. Artest’s layup gave the Lakers a 25-23 advantage with 7 1/2 minutes until halftime. The Celtics, who missed their first seven shots of the second quarter, finally cracked the scoreboard with a Rondo layup with 7:14 to go, and Garnett put Boston back ahead, 27-25, with a layup just past the midway point. The Lakers continued to hang around due to their rebounding prowess, and an Artest three with just under four minutes left drew the hosts even, 29-29. Boston, as they did in the first quarter, finished strong, scoring nine of the next 11 points. Pierce had five, including a three-pointer from the corner with 1:42 left to give the Celtics a seven-point advantage, 38-31. Tempers got a bit testy shortly thereafter, with Artest and Pierce meeting under the basket after a personal foul on Pierce. Double technicals were issued with 1:22 to go, and Artest made both of his shots from the line to bring the Lakers to within five. LA didn’t get closer than four in the final moments, and Pierce’s two free throws in the final minute pushed the Boston lead to six at halftime. The Celtics, armed with their 40-34 halftime lead, picked up right where they left off to start the third quarter. Boston stormed out in the second half with seven of the first nine points, forcing the Lakers to take a timeout after Rondo’s six-foot jumper provided a 47-36 advantage a little more than two minutes in. The Celtics lead ballooned to as high as 13 before the Lakers surged back. Los Angeles went on a 9-2 burst to climb back to within six, as a Lamar Odom putback dunk made it a 51-45 game with 5 1/2 minutes remaining in the quarter. Pierce stemmed the run with a three-pointer, but LA hung around, as a pair of Gasol free throws pulled the hosts to within 56-51 with 2:37 left. Another Odom putback shot made it a four-point game with a minute to go, and Artest missed a three that would have trimmed the deficit to one. The margin remained at four, 57-53, in favor of Boston heading to the fourth. Boston had been 7-0 overall in NBA Finals Game 7s…The Lakers are now one championship behind the Celtics’ all-time record of 17…Jackson is 6-3 all time in Game 7s and 5-0 at home. His teams are also an impeccable 48-0 when winning Game 1 of a series…The Lakers became the seventh team out of 41 to climb out of a 2-3 Finals deficit. The last was Houston, which beat New York in 1994…Bryant is now tied with Magic Johnson, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Michael Cooper, Jim Pollard and George Mikan with five titles as a Laker…The Celtics went 12-2 in the postseason when holding their opponent under 90, with both losses coming in the final two games…LA is 14-1 all time at home in Game 7s, including 10 straight dating back to 1969…Fisher is now tied with Shaquille O’Neal for first among active players with 32 series wins. Bryant has 31…LA finished just 32.5 percent shooting from the floor, while Boston went 40.8 percent…The Lakers are the first repeat champs since they did it with Bryant and O’Neal from 2000-02.
