George Lucas To Pursue ‘Little Personal Films’ Post-Sale

, Indiana Jones , what do you do when going from being raised on a walnut ranch to launching some of the biggest movie franchises of all time spanning decades and then selling your film company for billions to Disney? Well, one might try making “little personal films” for one. George Lucas ratcheted up headlines and a bit of shock and awe last week when the announcement came in he sold his Lucasfilm to Disney for $4.05 billion. He said that a recent film he executive produced had a tough time getting on the big screen and that his next pursuits will be even tougher. “I barely got Red Tails into theaters,” he is quoted saying on BBC while speaking to reporters in NYC. “The ones I’m working on now will never get into theaters.” Lucas will continue at the company he founded as a creative consultant, but overall control is going to Kathleen Kennedy who produced Jurassic Park and War Horse . “I’ve turned it over to a wonderful producer, Kathy Kennedy, and I’ve known her for years,” he said. “She’s more than capable of taking it and making it better than I did.” He added, “It’s very sad. It’s 40 years of work and it’s been my life, but I’m ready to move on to bigger and better things.” [ Source: BBC ]

Report: Sam Worthington Gets Arrested, Goes Method, Says He’s A DEA Agent

Eat your heart out, Strasberg: Actor Sam Worthington ( Avatar , Clash of the Titans ), in Atlanta filming Ten with Arnold Schwarzenegger , was pepper-sprayed by a doorman after allegedly becoming disruptive on Saturday, then was handcuffed and arrested for disorderly conduct — and still managed to remain in character! Kinda . Per TMZ : Cops say the “Avatar” star was at Vortex, a restaurant in Atlanta, when he was refused entrance because people at the door felt he was too intoxicated … this after he got into an argument because he didn’t have the ID required to get inside the club. According to the police report, a witness told cops Worthington became disorderly. He allegedly pushed the doorman twice and the doorman responded by pepper spraying him and putting him in cuffs until the cops arrived. And then… AND THEN (!): The bouncer — Jerry Link — tells TMZ, he maced Worthington when the actor went belligerent outside the bar … and Worthington screamed, “I’m a DEA agent! You f**ked up now!” For what it’s worth, the charge against Worthington was dropped. Worthington stars opposite Schwarzenegger, Josh Holloway, Terrence Howard, Joe Mangianello, and more in the David Ayer -directed Ten , about a team of DEA agents whose members are slowly offed after stealing millions from a cartel house. Is Halle Berry Having Another Baby?

More swirly babies for Halle Berry ? If Nahla has her way the answer is YES. Via People : “Every night, we do our prayers,” Berry says Thursday on The Wendy Williams Show, of herself and 4½-year-old Nahla Ariela. “We pray to God, so sweet. She says, ‘God, please bring me a bunk bed and a baby sister.’ And I say, ‘I can do one of those things, I know for sure. The other one, we’ve got to keep praying on.’ What do you say to her when she wants that and can’t understand why God’s taken so long?” Berry, who doesn’t elaborate on whether or not she plans to have more children, says she’s grateful she had Nahla at a later stage in life. “I’m a much better mother at 46 — or 41, when I had her — than if I were like 21 or 25,” she explains. “I mean I was just a little baby just trying to figure it out — trying to figure out who I was, let alone having the responsibility of trying to help another little soul develop and grow. I’m so glad I waited.” Berry acknowledges that the career she signed up for involves being scrutinized by the media, but she doesn’t believe Nahla should be affected by it. “She’s just a little kid, and I just want her to be a little kid, and have normalcy and be like everybody else,” Berry says. “As her mom, that’s my job — to provide her with that, you know? It’s frustrating when you feel like you can’t.” At 46, we’d be kind of surprised if Halle had another kid, but who knows — she is planning another marriage and maybe Olivier wants a little one. WATCH: Bruce Willis Adds Gravitas (And A Little ‘Die Hard’ Confusion) To ‘G.I. Joe: Retaliation’ International Trailer

There’s a lot to look at in this international trailer for   G.I. Joe: Retaliation :  Explosions. The muscled forms of Channing Tatum and Dwayne Johnson . More explosions. Masked men engaging in ninja sword fights while suspended from a snowy mountain. Avalanche!  Jonathan Pryce appearing to reprise his role as the Bond villain in Tomorrow Never Dies. Bruce Willis making cracks about his cholesterol after a near-death experience. Wait! What?  Isn’t that what John McClane does in the Die Hard movies — like A Good Day to Die Hard ,  which hits movie theaters a month and a half before the G.I. Joe sequel? Okay, so no one plays a smirking, self-deprecating hard-ass better than Willis. Which is why you should learn how to tell them apart:  In A Good Day to Die Hard , he’s John.  In G.I. Joe Retaliation , he’s Joe.  Simpler movie, simpler name. Got it?  Good. Now, watch some explosions. Follow Frank DiGiacomo on Twitter. Follow Movieline on Twitter.

Damon Lindelof Has Some Zany Ideas For ‘Star Wars Episode VII’!

Prometheus writer Damon Lindelof  may not be writing Star Wars Episode VII , but he can still suggest plot points. On Thursday, FirstShowing.net debunked some pretty rampant and persistent speculation that 1952 , the science-fiction project that Lindelof and Brad Bird are writing for the new owner of LucasFilm, Disney , was the code name for a new Star Wars trilogy.  But just two days earlier, when rumors were still making the rounds, Lindelof took to his Twitter feed to suggest some Episode VII ideas that were better suited to a  Robot Chicken   Star Wars special.    “Chewbacca’s great-great grandson is named Drewbacca and he must overcome his allergies to lasers and meat,”  wrote in one Tweet, which sounds just a tad more entertaining than the plot to the Star Wars Holiday Special . In another, he suggested: “Yoda’s Ghost gets annoyed by Obi-Wan’s Ghost (too much whining) and they fight with Ghostsabers.” Lindelof posted both with the hashtag “#IdeasForEpisodeVII” On Thursday, he also alluded to reaction over his rumored involvement in the new Star Wars trilogy. Linking to a post by Ain’t It Cool News , Lindelof tweeted: “If I ever need a suicide note, I’ll just print out this comments section,” in which he gets  a bit of a thrashing.  Wrote one commenter: “Keep fucking Damon Lindelof away from this!” In other Star Wars News, whatever you think about George Lucas’ decision to sell LucasFilm to Disney , it’s hard to take issue with his announcement that he’ll be giving a chunk of the $4 billion sale of his company to a foundation supporting education. “For 41 years, the majority of my time and money has been put into the company,” 68-year-old Lucas said in a statement reported by The Wrap.com on Wednesday. “As I start a new chapter in my life, it is gratifying that I have the opportunity to devote more time and resources to philanthropy.” In 2010, Lucas signed the Warren Buffet and Bill Gates Giving Pledge in which participants commit “to giving the majority of their wealth to the philanthropic causes and charitable organizations of their choice either during their lifetime or after their death.” The website noted that Lucas is the chairman of Edutopia, which is part of part of the George Lucas Educational Foundation, and could put the Disney money into the foundation or create a new one. Luke Skywalker & Princess Leia Knew Of More Star Wars Episodes; Surprised By Lucasfilm Sale

Star Wars fans worldwide learned Tuesday the celestial shattering news that George Lucas had sold Lucasfilm , and its most famous offspring to Disney for $4.05 billion. That news even surprised none other than Luke Skywalker himself. Actor Mark Hamill said he was surprised by the news, though he and fellow Star Wars veteran Carrie Fisher had met with Lucas who told them he wanted to do additional episodes in the decades-long franchise. “Yeah, last August, he asked Carrie and I to have lunch with him and we did. I thought he was going to talk about either his retirement or the Star Wars TV series that I’ve heard about…,” Hamill told EW . “So when he said, ‘We decided we’re going to do Episodes VII, VIII , and IX ,’ I was just gobsmacked. ‘What? Are you nuts?!’ [laughs] I can see both sides of it. Because in a way, there was a beginning, a middle, and an end and we all lived happily ever after and that’s the way it should be – and it’s great that people have fond memories, if they do have fond memories.” Hamill said in the interview that he feels “anxious” about what’s going on and admitted to mixed feelings about the sale, but said there has been a historical silver lining when Disney has picked up other marquee properties. “They haven’t done badly by Marvel and the Muppets and Pixar. It’s one of those big decisions that at first seems unusual but then the more you look at it, the more it makes sense.” Hamill noted that Lucas himself is in a “good place” today, which wasn’t exactly the case back when they were filming the earlier Star Wars . He recalled that his co-stars tried to lift his spirits on the set, which would come with mixed results. “He was not a jolly guy on set. [laughs] I always felt badly for him because he agonizes over details, and I’m sure after imagining it in his head for so many years, to see it realized — he’d look up and just hang his head and groan. Harrison [Ford], Carrie [Fisher], and I were always trying to cheer him up and joke him out of his doom and gloom.” [ Source: EW ]
