The Cannabis Papers a Citizen’s Guide to Cannabinoids

Any student of history can tell you we are not the first Americans to confront untruths. (CHICAGO) – This is a book project called The Cannabis Papers: a citizen's guide to cannabinoids. It is written by “Publius” – a pen name once used by the founders and redrafted by the folks at Illinois NORML. The book's essays will be released first online and then published together later this year. The latest release is essay #15 The Birth of the ECS. Also posted… Part One: LIFE #1 Nature’s (legal) cannabinoids #2 Should pregnant women smoke consume pot? #3 Sporting cannabinoids #4 “DSI for Dummies” #5 Astrocytes and cannabinoids #6 A medical cannabis club called CHAMP #7 Chemotherapy and cannabinoids #8 Patient patients #9 To sleep, perchance to dream #10 “Cannabinoids” succeed where “marijuana” fails #11 Washington's hemp seed love Part Two: LIBERTY #13 Liberty to change Nixon's law #14 Intermission – let's get high #15 The birth of the ECS #17 Ownership rights – FOID meets COID #21 “Hi, my name is Publius and I have been an alcoholic since 1972.” Any student of history can tell you we are not the first Americans to confront untruths. To voice our truth through language, to create a new set and setting, we turned to a collection of essays known as The Federalist Papers. During 1787 and 1788, James Madison, John Jay, and Alexander Hamilton wrote 85 essays in support of the US Constitution. They used the pen name “Publius” in honor of a famed Roman republican – someone they saw as a defender of liberty. We are “Publius” in 2010 for the same purpose – to make our sum greater than our individual parts. In doing so, we have created a series of essays to detail the role of cannabinoids in Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness. The essays take truths like “all human beings – in fact all mammals – use cannabinoids” and offers suggestions and ideas on how this will effect reform in the immediate future. Simply stated, cannabinoids and the endocannabinoid system modulate other systems within the human body – and that fact alone represents a revolution in how we will soon be thinking about nature and cannabinoids. You can start reading now by going to Illinois NORML's website at: http://www.illinoisnorml.org/tcp or click on The Cannabis Papers under News & Information. ~ Publius is Bryan Brickner, Julie Falco, Dianna Lynn Meyer, Dan Linn, Stephen Young, William Abens, Danielle Schumacher, Derek Rea (1954-2008), David Nott, Dan S. Wang, Brian Allemana, and many others.~ If you are able to donate to Illinois NORML we would be very grateful for your support. We are< working hard to end cannabis prohibition in Illinois and have made significant progress over the past year moving our medical cannabis legislation through the Senate chamber. The Illinois chapter of the National Organization to Reform Marijuana Laws is financially dependent on our dues paying members and generous supporters, and we thank you. The Nation: Ron Paul’s Fight For Transparency

The Obama administration condemns WikiLeaks in the most extreme terms, with White House spokesman Robert Gibbs referring to the people involved in the leaking and distribution of diplomatic cables as “criminals,” and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton describing the latest WikiLeaks revelations as an ” attack on America's foreign policy interests.” Attorney General Eric Holder talks of using the Espionage Act and other tools to go after WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange. Democrats in Congress echo the criticisms — with Senate Foreign Relations Committee chair John Kerry ripping Assange for having done “real damage” to U.S. interests — or simply remain silent. Some are openly working with neoconservative Republicans to come up with new laws to restrict the flow of information about U.S. foreign policy, Is anyone in official Washington standing up for transparency? Is anyone saying that we should be more concerned about the revelations of wrongdoing than killing the messenger? Yes, if you count Texas Congressman Ron Paul as a resident of official Washington. The Texas Republican who has long been the sternest critic in Congress of the imperial ambitions of presidents of both parties, rejects the notion that WikiLeaks is the problem. “Rather than worry about the disclosure of embarrassing secrets we should focus on our delusional foreign policy,” argues Paul, who has run for the presidency as both the Libetarian nominee and a Republican primary candidate. “We are kidding ourselves when we believe spying, intrigue and outright military intervention can maintain our international status as a superpower while our domestic economy crumbles in an orgy of debt and monetary debasement.” Continued at: http://www.npr.org/2010/12/13/132021734/the-nation-ron-paul-s-stand-for-transpar… added by: Dagum

A Secretive Banking Elite Rules Trading in Derivatives

On the third Wednesday of every month, the nine members of an elite Wall Street society gather in Midtown Manhattan. The men share a common goal: to protect the interests of big banks in the vast market for derivatives, one of the most profitable — and controversial — fields in finance. They also share a common secret: The details of their meetings, even their identities, have been strictly confidential. Drawn from giants like JPMorgan Chase, Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley, the bankers form a powerful committee that helps oversee trading in derivatives, instruments which, like insurance, are used to hedge risk. In theory, this group exists to safeguard the integrity of the multitrillion-dollar market. In practice, it also defends the dominance of the big banks. The banks in this group, which is affiliated with a new derivatives clearinghouse, have fought to block other banks from entering the market, and they are also trying to thwart efforts to make full information on prices and fees freely available. more at link…. They rule more than derivatives, but if speak out about it, you're called “crazy” by the media propagandists they control. The Creature from Jeckyll Island rules your life! added by: rodstradamus

As Goes Detroit, So Goes The Nation

Detroit has been bankrupt for years. It simply refuses to admit it. Detroit's schools are bankrupt as well. A mere 25% of students graduate from high school. Yet, in spite of hints and threats from mayors and budget commissions, and in spite of common sense talk of bankruptcy, Detroit has not pulled the bankruptcy trigger. In a futile attempt to stave off the inevitable one last time, Mayor Bing's latest plan is to cutoff city services including road repairs, police patrols, street lights, and garbage collection in 20% of Detroit.
