Dwyane Wade Mourns "Senseless" Death of Cousin, Calls for End to Gun Violence

Dwyane Wade is in mourning. The NBA superstar lost one of his cousins on Friday when she became a victim of crossfire on the sidewalk in Chicago. According to CNN and other outlets, Nykea Aldridge died while pushing a stroller down a South Side street when a multitude of men started shooting at each other. She was simply an innocent bystander. Tweeted Wade in response to the tragedy: “My cousin was killed today in Chicago. Another act of senseless gun violence. 4 kids lost their mom for NO REASON. Unreal. #EnoughIsEnough.” CNN has reported that one of the bullets struck Aldridge in the head, while another hit her in an arm. She died approximately 45 minutes after the shooting at a nearby hospital. Aldridge’s aunt told an ABC affiliated that she was on her way to an elementary school when she was gunned down.  Two suspects are reportedly in custody. Wade’s mother, Jolinda Wade, spoke on behalf of the family last night while holding her inconsolable sister close outside the emergency room where Aldridge was pronounced deceased. “Just sat up on a panel yesterday, The Undefeated, talking about the violence that’s going on within our city of Chicago, never knowing that the next day we would be the ones that would be actually living and experiencing it,” Jolinda Wade said. “We’re still going to try and help these people to transform their minds and give them a different direction, so this thing won’t keep happening. “We’re still going to help empower people like the one who senselessly shot my niece in the head.” Chicago has been hit especially hard by violence this year. More than 2,600 people have been shot in the city, mainly on the South and West sides. In July, Wade, Carmelo Anthony, Chris Paul and LeBron James opened the ESPYs by standing on stage and addressing this exact topic in front of a national audience. They were responding at the time to the Black Lives Matter movement and the rash of African-American deaths at the hands of police officers. They were also responding to the misguided responses of those who attached members of law enforcement in response to these incidents. Enough is enough,” Waed said on stage. This is not the first time Wade’s family has been touched by gun violence, either. His nephew, Darin Johnson, was shot twice in the leg in 2012 but recovered. Katy Perry: Really Sad Catfish Victim Thought They Were Dating

When Katy Perry found out that Spencer Morrill was fooled into believing that have an online relationship that lasted six years, her heart broken a little. Morrill, who lives in Knoxville, TN, appeared on MTV’s Catfish: The TV Show ‘s August 17th episode, in which wanted hosts Nev Schulman and Max Joseph to help him meet Perry in perso n.   Morrill explained that he and the pop star communicated via email, text, messaging apps and even spoke on the phone once.  It turned out that Perry was actually a Canadian woman named Harriet, who was based in London). Perry was asked about the episode on SiriusXM’s The Morning Mash Up earlier this week, and she admitted that even though someone sent her the article, she didn’t read through the whole thing because it bummed her out. “Somebody sent me a link,” Perry, 31, said. “I didn’t actually read through it, because I just think it’s really unfortunate and really sad.” The hosts tried to joke about the whole ordeal, but Perry didn’t find any of it funy. “You know, like, my heart goes out to him actually, because anybody that’s been fooled like that or just, you know, people have dreams, and people live in different parts of the world where not everything is always so accessible,” she said. “Like, we live on the coast, and we, you know, we get stuff in a way that some other people don’t get, and I feel bad for him, and so I didn’t really like to indulge in that, because my heart … I empathize.” I have no idea what she’s talking about, and I think she just referred to Morrill as a hillbilly with dial-up internet, but I do respect that she has empathy for him. Morrill was looking forward to finally seeing his beloved, he told Schulman and Joseph. “I would like to meet face to face and see if there’s a future here,” “She’s awesome. Katy’s funnier than I am, she’s smarter than I am. I don’t know how many people give her credit for that, but she’s very intelligent. Josh Waring: Former RHOC Star Claims He Didn’t Shoot Anyone!

Josh Waring thought he was facing seven charges related to a June shooting in Southern California. It turns out that four more charges were added at an August 19th court hearing, and Waring fears he could be in jail for a very, very long time. Initially, the charges included “three counts of attempted murder, three counts personal use of a firearm and once count of inflicting great bodily injury.” Now, Waring tells Radar Online , things have gone from bad to worse, with the new charges being “battery, hit and run with property damage, evading police/reckless driving, resisting arrest and obstructing an officer, and unlawful taking of a vehicle.” Earlier this month, Waring spoke to Radar from prison because he’s unable to post $1 million bail. Is Waring responsible for shooting Daniel Lopez? “No, absolutely not,” Waring insisted. “I had a prior altercation that night,” he went, adding that he was high when the series of incidents occurred. “I was using,” he admitted. “I was under the influence, and was chased off the property,” he said, referring to the sober living facility where Lopez was shot. “It was a mistake of bad timing,” he continued. Just because of the fact I had priors, I was arrested.” In Waring’s defense, the police report notes that authorities did not find a weapon in the car he stole, but that point could be moot. “I have four other cases on top of this,” Waring told Radar . “One is a trafficking sales case, in which I face a max of 22 years and four months. And for the attempted murder, a 45-year max. I am facing time, which is scary.” Waring has a history of heavy drug use and brushes with the law.  His time on The Real Housewives of Orange County was mainly spent getting into trouble that his mother, Lauri Peterson would have to deal with. In 2008, Peterson called the police after finding a bag of heroin in Waring’s room.  That same year, she left the show. We're equal opportunity offenders truth-tellers here at The Hollywood Gossip. So, because we previously documented the large number of terrible celebrity mothers out there ., it's only fair that we now turn things around and ask: Who is the worst famous father in Hollywood? Unfortunately (for their kids), there are a number of contenders for this dishonor. Click through the nominees below and decide on the most dismal of all these dads… 1. Jon Gosselin In August of 2016, Gosselin admitted that he hasn’t seen some of his kids in years. Said daughter Mady about her dad: “He should maybe spend some time thinking about why we don’t want to see him, and maybe realize that if he ever does want a relationship with us, talking about us on TV is not the way to make that happen.” 2. Charlie Sheen When he isn’t going on bizarre rants, doing drugs or leaving his children in the custody of Denise Richards, he’s letting them hang out with porn stars. Sorry, Charlie, but you’re LOSING as a father. 3. Matthew Knowles Matthew Knowles was fired at his daughter’s manager in 2011 because Beyonce suspected her dad of stealing from her. That’s pretty darn bad. He also fathered a child out of wedlock while married to Beyonce’s mom, Tina. 4. Woody Allen In February 2014, Woody Allen’s adopted daughter, Dylan Farrow, published a New York Times piece alleging the famous director molested her when she was seven years old. Few people are on Woody’s side in this debate. 5. Scott Disick Scott Disick certainly seems to care about partying and drinking more than spending time with his children. He didn’t even attend his daughter’s third birthday party, according to reports. 6. Michael Lohan Michael Lohan has practically been arrested more times than his daughter. Hope Solo: Suspended By U.S. Women’s Soccer!

Soccer star Hope Solo has been suspended from the U.S. Women’s National Team for six months, the organization announced on Wednesday. The athlete will be ineligible to compete until February . Here disciplinary action comes after the goalkeeper, who helped Team USA to gold in the 2008 and 2012 Olympics, lashed out in Rio. Hope slammed the Swedish women’s soccer team after the U.S. was stunningly defeated and knocked out of medal contention early. Sunil Gulati, the president of the organization, criticized “the comments by Hope Solo after the match against Sweden at the 2016 Olympics.” Solo’s comments “were unacceptable and do not meet the standard of conduct we require from our National Team players,” Gulati said.  “Beyond the athletic arena and beyond the results” of the match, “the Olympics celebrate the ideals of fair play and respect.” The USWNT felt Solo didn’t live up to those ideals. “We expect all of our representatives to honor those principles,” Gulati said, explaining the suspension, “with no exceptions.” After the August 12 defeat, Solo said she thought the losing Team USA played a “courageous game,” while Sweden … did not. “I think we showed a lot of heart. We came back from a goal down. I’m very proud of this team,” the controversial star began. “But I also think we played a bunch of cowards,” she said. “The best team did not win today. I strongly believe that.” Obviously, her comments did not go over too well. Swedish coach Pia Sundhage, who previously coached Team USA to those two Olympic gold medals, blasted the goalie for her attitude.  “We won the game. They played more attacking football than we did. We defended very well,” Sundhage told  The Los Angeles Times .  “It’s OK to be a coward if you win.”  In response, Solo retweeted  Sports Illustrated ‘s full transcript of her much-discussed quote and admitted that she’s not the best loser. “Losing sucks. I’m really bad at it,” she wrote. Hope Solo Taunted by “ZIKA” Chants in Olympic Opener That wasn’t sufficient to avoid a suspension, but at least it was honest; Hope does not mince words, or hold back her actions. After posting photos that some felt were disrespectful about the host nation, Solo was taunted with “Zika” chants earlier in the games. This isn’t Solo’s first brush with trouble. In 2015, she was benched for 30 days for “an incident that occurred during the current WNT training camp” that was held in Carson, Calif. Allegedly, there was drunken driving of the team van  by her husband, who’s been by her side throughout a few of Solo’s lower points. Hope was arrested for domestic violence in 2014, and has been involved in some eyebrow-raising incidents with Jerramy Stevens (below):

Sofia Richie Taunts Fallen Paparazzi

Upon turning 18 years old on Wednesday, Sofia Richie was given an unexpected birthday present: The emotional pain of those who follow her around on a daily basis and snap her picture. According to Entertainment Tonight, Richie was celebrating her milestone birthday with some friends at The Nice Guy in Los Angeles. That’s a club that Justin Bieber has been know to frequent, although it doesn’t appear as if Richie’s famous new boyfriend was with her yesterday evening. Many photographers were on the scene, however, and witnesses say a group of them tripped and toppled over while trying to get a snapshot of the teenage model. Did Richie lend a hand and try to help them up? Please. Of course not! Donning a white crop top and ripped jeans, Richie shouted at the paparazzi members instead, laughing over their misfortune. It’s pretty hard to blame her for having such a response, isn’t it? These are people who make their living by essentially stalking celebrities, frequently invading their privacy. It’s hard to garner much sympathy for them, especially when we’re just talking here about a little fall. Richie, of course, has been thrust into the news over the past few weeks. She just started dating Bieber last month it seems, but the relationship has grown very serious. Both the singer and the model posted a number of photos from their recent trip to Tokyo together, drawing the ire of overly-passionate (and misguided) Beliebers in the process. Many of these fans taunted and threatened Richie, prompting Bieber to tell them to shut the heck up… or he’d make his Instagram account private. After Selena Gomez commented that Bieber should not blame his fans and should keep his private life to himself, Bieber went ahead and actually deleted his social media account. It was a major blow to teenage women everywhere. The backlash, meanwhile, has not slowed Bieber and Richie down. Not one bit. They are still together and they still seem very happy as a couple. The day before her birthday night out, Richie was spotted at RAWkin’ Juice with the Biebs. “He was very engaging with her the whole time, he was very attentive. Lady Mary: Downton Abbey Creator Reveals What She’s Doing Now

After six successful season, Downton Abbey may be over, but that doesn’t mean its characters stopped existing. While series creator Julianne Fellowes prepares for the Emmy Awards ( Downton is nominated in two categories ), he spoke to Deadline Hollywood at The London Hotel in West Hollywood about the impact his show has had on the American audience. Fellowes is quite proud of the way he wrapped the British series.   Instead of leaving viewers hanging as he’s done in the past, Fellowes ended things on a high note. “I feel that if an audience has been loyal to you for six years, they deserve to go away from the last episode feeling good,” he said. “And Edith, especially, deserved a happy ending. I had teased people, with the end of the series before the Christmas special—with once again, it had all gone wrong. But it came right in the end, and I wanted her to outrank Mary.” Edith had fallen in love with a man who ended up inheriting a Marquess title from his late cousin, making Edith a Marchioness, which meant she ranked higher in the British aristocratic hierarchy than Mary, who was only a Lady. Don’t worry about Mary, though. “It’s never “poor Mary,” Fellowes insists. “She would survive the 1917 Revolution. She’d become a Commissar.” What sort of life does Fellowes’ leading lady live post- Downton ? “My own belief is that Mary, whether you like her or dislike her, is a hard worker, and she’s practical. I think she will employ the kind of advice that she needs,” Fellowes predicts. “She would probably have opened the house to the public in the 1960s, as so many of them did, and she’d have retreated to a wing, and maybe only occupied the whole house during the winter.” Many families with stately homes opted to open their doors to the public, treating the estate as a sort of museum.  The money raised from admission fees would then help to keep up with the costs of running a place such as Downton Abbey. “My own belief is the Crawleys would still be there, just as the Carnarvons are today [in the real Highclere Castle, where Downton was filmed],” Fellowes said. “George [Mary’s son] would have gone to the Second World War, and of course the fear is that he would be killed. “We know that Mary is pregnant, so there’s going to be another child. “As for the title, I don’t know where it would go beyond George, but let’s hope he gets through the war and has children of his own,” Fellowes continued. “George was born in 1921, which makes him nine years younger than my father, and he only died in 1999. If he lived to the same age as my father, he’d have died in 2008, which takes us right into the modern age.” Well, there’s seasons 7-10 right there.  Somewhere on the Highclere estate, Lady Mary’s great-great granddaughter is sneaking a cigarette with her equally naughty friends.   Downton Abbey Cast Performs Scene in American Accents

Josh Murray and Amanda Stanton: Moving in Together!

Josh Murray and Amanda Stanton of Bachelor in Paradise fame have brought a little piece of Paradise home. They’re moving in together! The former winner of The Bachelorette tells Us Weekly that not only are he and Amanda still a couple, they’re going to the next level . “Things are going amazing,” says the 32-year-old, who moved from Atlanta, Ga., to Stanton’s apartment in Irvine, California, this summer. “I 100 percent believe that Amanda is somebody who I could spend the rest of my life with,” the former fiance of Andi Dorfman gushed. Stanton, 26, the mother of daughters Kinsley, 4, and Charlie, 2, is equally smitten when it comes to her future with Josh Murray. “He’s so dedicated and so loyal,” she says. “He’s sweet and thoughtful and caring – it’s not just something he turns on for the cameras.” Josh Murray, Amanda Stanton on Bachelor in Paradise It certainly didn’t come easily for the lovebirds. Since Murray first arrived in Paradise , his motives were questioned by his costars, namely his one-time Bachelorette nemesis Nick Viall. Josh and Nick, famously the final two vying for Andi’s heart on The Bachelorette , found themselves in a similar position once again here. Nick, too, longed for fair Amanda. No dice. Irked that Stanton had chosen Murray over him, he openly questioned whether Murray’s aim in pursuing her was simply to spite him. Not the worst assumption of all time, especially if you watch Bachelor in Paradise online . But moving cross-country for her feels legit. Amanda Stanton slammed Nick as the phony one, defending Josh (and her decision to pick Josh), who she has certainly stuck behind. Then there’s Evan Bass. Dog Sacrifices Self to Save Baby in House Fire

There’s a reason why John Stamos got so emotional when saying goodbye to his best friend recently. There’s also a reason why the entire country stopped and paid tribute to a very special dog back in June. And the story below helps encapsulate these reasons… Earlier this month in Baltimore, a woman named Erika Poremski ran to her car to quickly grab an item. She was scarcely gone for more than a few minutes, but that was enough time for her home to become engulfed by flames. Poremski was tragically alerted to this fact when she heard the screams of her six-month old daughter, Viviana. In response, Erika and her neighbors desperately tried to climb the stairs to reach the child and also her six-year old dog, Polo. But the fire was too powerful. She had to turn around after suffering burns to her hands and face. “[My daughter] was up the stairs, but the fire [and] smoke was so heavy I couldn’t get past it,” Poremski told a local news outlet. “I kept running back out and back in, trying to get up there. Then, the door curling started falling and I couldn’t get back in…[I didn’t even] see all the skin was off my hand from grabbing the rail and it melted off.” Poremski called after Polo to escape the flames, but the dog did not response. We later learned why. According to firefighters who eventually arrived on the scene and rescued Viviana, they found Polo’s body inside the child’s room, draped over the baby. “That way nothing got to her. She only had burns on her side because of it,” Poremski said of her dog’s actions. “He stayed with her the whole time in the bedroom and wouldn’t even come downstairs to get out the door.” Viviana has burns on about 19% of her body as a result of the fire, but at least she’s alive. The same, sadly, cannot be said of Polo. “He was my first baby before Viv. He was like my child,” said Erika of Polo. “He followed us everywhere.” Poremski is obviously beyond grateful that her child is alive. But her beloved dog is dead and Viviana still needs a great deal of medical attention. “He was everything to me along with my daughter,” she says of Polo. “I’m losing everything I love in the blink of an eye. I feel like I’m drowning and can’t get out.” A relative has set up a GoFundMe account for Viviana’s medical expenses. You can click on the preceding link to donate to it.
