The Twitterverse is once again showing its ugly side. With Curtis Lepore – a viral Vine star who has amassed millions of followers over that video sharing service – facing accusations of rape , Internet users have turned their wrath toward Jessi Smiles, the ex-girlfriend at the center of this allegedly heinous crime. Not long after the troubling story broke, Twitter followers went online and blasted Smiles, issuing death threats along the lines of the following messages: F**K YOU JESSI I WILL HUNT YOU DOWN YOU LITTLE BITCH. Hows it feel to lie about being raped? F**king bitch he didn’t f**king rape you dumb bitch. According to reports, Lepore and Smiles got close via Vine and then met in New York City for the first time last summer. They dated for a couple months and then split in August. A few days later, after Smiles suffered a concussion while filming a video, Lepore offered to take care of her. She supposedly fell asleep by his side and that’s when the sexual assault took place. Since the story broke, Lepore has come out and told people not to pass judgment, while Smiles wrote that she “stopping living her life” six months ago, at the time of the alleged incident. She has vowed that is “NOT going to happen again.”

Roy Garber, a star on A&E’s Shipping Wars, passed away Friday after suffering a heart attack in Texas. He was 49 years old. According the reality star’s girlfriend (via TMZ), Garber was taken to a hospital following the incident, though doctors were unable to save him. Family members say Garber had been stuck with a heart condition for awhile. Said the series via Facebook: “We are deeply saddened by the loss of a member of the A&E family. Our thoughts are with Roy’s loved ones during this difficult time. He will be missed.” Shipping Wars tracks carriers who transport unusual items and it had just wrapped its fifth season. Garber was the owner/operator of Arbie’s Team Transport in New Hampshire and he was one of the top earners in the country. We send our condolences to his loved ones.
Darren Sharper, a former All-Pro defensive back who played for three teams over a 14-year career, has been arrested on charge of rape. The Los Angeles Police Department says it is investigating Sharper in conjunction with a pair of sexual assaults that took place in West L.A., one this month and one in October. He was released Friday on $200,000 bail and is expected back in court on February 14. The New Orleans Police Department, meanwhile, says it is also looking into an allegation of sexual assault filed against Sharper on September 24. Shaper has worked as an analyst for the NFL Network since 2010 and has been suspended without pay “until further notice,” according to a spokesman for the network. Sharper, 38, starred over the years for the Green Bay Packers, Minnesota Vikings and New Orleans Saints. He recorded 63 career interceptions and was named to 2000’s All-Decade Team.
Dennis Rodman has checked into rehab. The former NBA All-Star, who totally lost his $hit during an interview with CNN this month in concert with his trip to North Korea , has admitted he has a drinking problem. The five-time NBA champion has come under heavy scrutiny for celebrating the 31st birthday of dictator Kim Jong-un by playing in an exhibition basketball game in North Korea along with a number of ex-professional ballers. Rodman was asked by Chris Cuomo about the adventure a few weeks ago, flipped out over questions regarding that nation’s human rights violations and later apologized , saying he was wasted at the time. “What was potentially a historic and monumental event turned into a nightmare for everyone concerned,” Rodman’s agent Darren Prince told USA Today in a statement, adding: “Dennis Rodman came back from North Korea in pretty rough shape emotionally. The pressure that was put on him to be a combination ‘super human’ political figure and ‘fixer’ got the better of him. He is embarrassed, saddened and remorseful for the anger and hurt his words have caused.” Rodman appeared on Season 3 of Celebrity Rehab With Dr. Drew, but – shockingly – that rehab visit didn’t change his behavior. Let’s hope he takes his latest one a bit more seriously.

Asked by TV Page today about the possibility of ABC on day hiring a gay person to serve as The Bachelor, this year’s star dismissed the idea because: “I don’t think it is a good example for kids to watch that on TV.” “Obviously people have their husband and wife and kids and that is how we are brought up,” Juan Pablo added. “Now there is fathers having kids and all that, and it is hard for me to understand that too in the sense of a household having people… It is confusing in a sense.” The single dad then backtracked a tiny bit. “I respect them because they want to have kids,” he said of same sex couples. “They want to be parents. So it is a scale… Where do you put it on the scale? Where is the thin line to cross or not? You have to respect everybody’s desires and way of living.
