Alex Billington, a movie critic for the website Firstshowing.net, called the authorities from inside a theater at the Toronto Film Festival this week because a fellow attendee was pointing his cell phone at the screen for over 10 minutes. Critic Calls 911 from Theater “I thought I might be witnessing an act of piracy … and wished to report it to the proper authorities,” Billington told BuzzFeed. “The call made was to report an act of piracy in progress, a major crime that many signs around TIFF remind people is a punishable offense. “I simply requested that an officer confront and confirm that he was not pirating.” Billington, who was laughed at by the 911 operator, later admitted to the move being a “gaffe” and took to a more appropriate venue to vent about the incident: Twitter. “I’m trying to make a difference for the better, if that’s so grating I’m sorry. Changes need to be made and drastic measures are called for,” Billington wrote, adding: “My mistake is my own lesson to learn. I contacted staff first for piracy, they did nothing. Attention should be on the policy, bigger issue.”

Lamar Odom isn’t just facing accusations of crack use by ex-mistress Polina Polonsky . He’s also now facing a six-figure lawsuit by a member of the paparazzi. Lamar Odom Attacks Paparazzi Stefan Saad is seeking at least $565,000 from the troubled basketball player after Odom attacked him in July , an incident that stemmed from the photographer questioning Lamar’s fidelity and which led to Odom destroying $15,000 worth of camera equipment. The altercation was caught on film, but no charges were filed. In his lawsuit, Saad actually takes aim at the entire Kardashian family, writing: “The Kardashian clan has apparently come to believe that it is above the law, and has some exceptional privilege to disregard the rights of others… The Kardashian clan are not only wealthy and attractive — but also deeply flawed.” Saad also mentioned that the sky is blue and the Pope is Catholic. Just kidding. According to the court documents, Odom acts like he’s “above the law” because he’s married to Khloe Kardashian. And Saad also brings Kim Kardashian’s baby daddy into the equation, alleging that Kanye West gave Odom advice on how to deal with the paparazzi as he would; i.e. in fits of rage. Stefan is suing for assault, conversion and trespass of property. He’s seeking money for the equipment Odom destroyed, along with punitive damages.

Oscar De La Hoya has checked into rehab facility as he continues to fight his substance abuse, the former boxing champion confirmed in a statement. The move comes on the eve of the biggest fight of the year for his promotion company Saturday night, when Floyd Mayweather Jr. takes on Canelo Alvarez. “I will not be at the fight this Saturday to cheer Canelo to victory since I have voluntarily admitted myself into a treatment facility,” De La Hoya said Tuesday. The fighter added that “I explained this to Canelo and he understood that my health and long term recovery from my disease must come first.” The 40-year-old Oscar De La Hoya first admitted two years ago that he was an alcoholic and drug user and had been in treatment for those problems . He said just last month that he sometimes attends Alcoholics Anonymous meetings up to six days a week, but had slipped at times in his treatment. “The fight life, that was easy,” he said. “This is a battle I have every day.” De La Hoya, a.k.a. “The Golden Boy,” is a partner in Golden Boy Promotions, which promotes Alvarez and is promoting the fight against Mayweather. He has appeared several times on Showtime’s All Access show cheering on Alvarez in what is expected to be one of the most memorable fights in history. De La Hoya won world titles in six classes and an Olympic gold medal in 1992. He retired in 2008 after being stopped by Manny Pacquiao in his last fight. Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino says his addiction to painkillers and subsequent rehab stay dates back to his short-lived stint on Dancing With the Stars. That was 2010, and he says he’s still battling to stay sober. While his people initially insisted the MTV star was just suffering from exhaustion, Sitch eventually confirmed he was hooked on opiates back in 2012. Now, the 32-year-old is talking about his battle with prescription drugs and how his addiction was so bad, he could barely dress himself at his worst. “All I had to do was get dressed for a family function and I couldn’t do that. The shirt was laid out, the belt, the pants, everything. The shower was on.” The Situation describes that as his low point, for good reason. “I couldn’t even get out of bed,” he recalls, and that was when he realized he had to seek help. “If I can’t [get dressed], how am I going to continue?” Even crazier, the former Jersey Shore star says he’s still on medication for his injury – it’s unclear how he got hurt so badly during that brief time on DWTS . He’s also a paid spokesman for the company that makes his pills, but he participates in program that helps spread awareness about opiate addictions. He also sees a counselor regularly to stay on track. As far as his overuse of spray tanning, habit of meddling in other people’s personal business and propensity for nailing grenades, those are still issues.

In her latest selfie, the reality star stares somberly into the camera while including a symbol-based caption that uses three emojis, each representing one of the three wise monkeys, which translates into “see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil.” The form of the message may be complicated, but the meaning behind it is not: Khloe is clearly referencing her ongoing troubles with husband Lamar Odom . Odom and Kardashian continue to live apart, with no reported contact between the couple for days.
