That’s what makes it special for both of us,” said Woods after he destroyed the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational field. “He’s never seen me win a golf tournament.” With his son accompanying to the clubhouse after the win, and in speaking to the media, the top-ranked golfer offered a brief look into his private life. “It was awfully special for me to have him here to witness it because he understands it now,” he added. “He understands when I make birdie, when I make par.” “It’s just special to share that kind of moment.” Woods has kept his family out of the spotlight in the aftermath of his divorce from Elin Nordegren and the intense scrutiny that surrounded the scandal. But by winning this tournament and celebrating with his son, Woods is again offering a once-rare glimpse of him as a family man, father and human being. Earlier this year, he went public on Facebook to confirm his romance with girlfriend Lindsey Vonn , which would have been unheard of in years past. He is closing in on Sam Snead’s record 82 career wins, but hopefully many more simpler, tender moments like this that really count are in his future.

Those who tuned in for the beginning of Shark Week on the Discovery Channel might have been waiting for that moment they realized they were being rickrolled. The channel kicked off their legendary week celebrating the deep sea killers with the most infamous of sharks, Megalodon. In a two hour documentary, they took a good look at the mythic creature and did their best to draw him out. In fact, they even used a “chum cannon” to help facilitate what they called “power chumming” to hopefully arouse the beast. That’s right, power chumming. If you didn’t realize the “documentary” was fake by that point, well then…. Of course, this is the internet, and there are plenty of people just waiting, ready and willing, to complain about every little thing. Including a fake documentary about (likely) fictitious animal. Angry viewers have taken to Shark Week’s Facebook page in angry droves. With complaints ranging from “disappointed” to the more elaborate, “Absolutely disgusted with the kick off of shark week. Fake documentary on Magalodon. Way to go discovery channel. You should change your name to Fantasy Channel. Like I said, absolutely disgusted. Another year like this and Shark Week will be extinct too.” Lesson learned. Megalodon may not be real, but there is no doubt that internet rage lives on! Have no fear though, it appears as if “real” Shark Week programming will return tonight.
Major League Baseball came down hard today on players it found to be involved with Biogenesis, the Florida clinic linked to performance enhancing drugs. The most prominent among them, New York Yankees star Alex Rodriguez, was suspended for 211 games – through the end of the 2014 season. Alex Rodriguez Suspended 211 Games By MLB A-Rod, of course, is expected to appeal the suspension and remain eligible this evening – which happens to mark his 2013 debut – pending a hearing. MLB commissioner Bud Selig issued statements on Alex Rodriguez and on the state of baseball’s anti-drug program, which he expressed pride in. Selig said Rodriguez’s punishment will begin this week and cover the 2013 and 2014 postseasons, and was covered under the drug program’s protocols. The reason? A-Rod’s “use and possession of numerous performance-enhancing substances, including testosterone and human growth hormone” over multiple years. Moreover, he was sanctioned for a bid to “cover-up his violations of the program by engaging in a course of conduct intended to obstruct and frustrate the [investigation].” “Under the terms of the Joint Drug Prevention and Treatment Program, the suspension will be stayed until the completion of his appeal if Rodriguez [challenges] his discipline.” Rodriguez is expected to appeal the suspension immediately and will be allowed to play until his appeal goes before an arbitrator at an undetermined date. The 12 other players agreed to 50-game suspensions and waived their right to appeal: Nelson Cruz, Rangers outfielder Everth Cabrera, Padres shortstop Jhonny Peralta, Tigers shortstop Antonio Bastardo, Phillies reliever Francisco Cervelli, Yankees catcher (on DL) Jordany Valdespin, Mets outfielder (minors) Jesus Montero, Mariners catcher (minors) Cesar Puello, Mets outfielder (minors) Sergio Escalona, Astros pitcher (minors) Fernando Martinez, Yankees outfielder (minors) Fautino De Los Santos, free-agent pitcher Jordan Norberto, free-agent pitcher Facing a possible lifetime ban , Alex Rodriguez did not waive his right to appeal. With word of the Teresa Giudice fraud case spreading around the nation, many cast members involved with the Real Housewives franchise are concerned about this mother of four. “She may need some help raising those children,” Lea Black (Miami) tells People . “The consequences may be bigger than anyone would think.” During the 39-charge indictment and subsequent court hearing last week, it came out that Joe Giudice is not an American citizen and could face deportation if found guilty over certain crimes. “I feel really bad because I really like Teresa,” Jill Zarin (New York) also tells the magazine. “She is a sweet girl and a good mother. I only want the best for her and her family.” Late last week, Bethenny Frankel took the opposite approach. She said that Teresa did something dumb and did it on television and she therefore has no sympathy for the reality star. But Black can’t help but have a sensitive spot for what’s taking place. “It’s a bad situation for them to be in,” she says . “You don’t kick someone when they’re down. They’ve got four kids, they’re in a lot of trouble and they’re trying to survive.”
