Source: FayesVision/WENN.com / WENN Angelica Ross , one of the stars of the FX series Pose,  will host a historic presidential forum on LGBTQ+ issues. According to Deadline , she will take on Joe Biden, Cory Booker, Pete Buttigieg, Julián Castro, Tulsi Gabbard, Kamala Harris, Amy Klobuchar, Joe Sestak, Elizabeth Warren and Marianne Williamson in the national 2020 Presidential Candidate Forum on LGBTQ Issues. The forum is presented by GLAAD, The Advocate, One Iowa, and The Gazette. It will be livestreamed from Coe College’s Sinclair Auditorium in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Billy Gilman , the country artist and former contestant on The Voice , will perform the National Anthem for the event. The forum marks a historic moment, considering Ross will be the first transgender woman to host a presidential forum. This will also be the first presidential forum that will exclusively focus on LGBTQ+ issues, according to NewNowNext , especially at a moment when previous presidential debates have glossed over the subject. Ross will be joined by GLAAD President and CEO Sarah Kate Ellis on the stage and they will challenge the presidential candidates on pressing LGBTQ+ issues. During the forum, each candidate will have an opportunity to discuss their plan for improving queer and trans lives across America. The fact that Ross is hosting the event holds power, considering the current crisis of Black trans women being murdered at alarming rates . Just this week, The Advocate reported Ja’leyah-Jamar as the 19th trans woman to be killed this year. Eighteen of these murders have been Black trans women. Earlier this month, Bee Love Slater was another Black trans woman murdered. Her body was found burned beyond recognition, according to The Hill . Ross has consistently spoken up about trans rights and she is the founder and CEO of TransTech Social Enterprises , a trans-centered organization that helps empower folks in poverty with technical training that creates social impact and brings economic empowerment to marginalized communities. Although Ross didn’t explicitly say she would tackle trans murders at the presidential forum, she tweeted, “ I’m so READY & excited to be hosting the #LGBTQforum on Friday with @glaad, @OneIowa, @TheAdvocateMag and @gazettedotcom to ensure that presidential candidates are talking about issues important to LGBTQ voters! Stay tuned!” She also unapologetically called out presidential candidates Bernie Sanders and Beto O’Rourke , who have yet to RSVP for the event. Although, later on she learned that Sanders had prior commitments. Taxstone Headed To Trial For Murder Of Troy Ave’s Bodyguard In Novemer

Source: Johnny Nunez / Getty Popular Internet personality Taxstone will be heading to trial this fall for the murder of Troy Ave ‘s bodyguard after a shooting incident took place at New York’s Irving Plaza in 2016. Taxstone, born Daryl Campbell, is facing life for the murder of Ronald “Banga” McPhatter. AllHipHop exclusively reports : A heated dispute between Taxstone and Troy Ave, born Roland Collins, erupted into violence during a fight in a green room of the venue. When the gun smoke cleared, four people were injured, including Troy Ave, and the Brooklyn rapper’s bodyguard Ronald “Banga” McPhatter, was murdered. Troy was caught on camera pursuing Taxstone out of the green room while letting off shots in the middle of the panicked crowd. Police ultimately retrieved a gun from Troy Ave’s van, and they concluded it was the gun that was used to kill McPhatter. After an investigation, police found Taxstone’s DNA on the 9-millimeter Kel-Tec semi-automatic handgun’s trigger, handgrip, and magazine. Campbell will appear in court on November 12. — Photo: Getty

Source: The Washington Post / Getty University Of Virginia Basketball Coach Declines Raise Following NCAA Win Tony Bennett, the University of Virginia men’s basketball coach, led the Cavaliers to their first appearance in the Final Four in 35 years and on to win their first NCAA Championship title in program history this year. But when he was offered a raise for such an amazing accomplishment, Bennett rejected it. “President Ryan and [Athletic Director] Carla were very gracious in what they offered to me as a potential contract, but I have a very good contract,” said Bennett, in an article published on UVA’s website. “I have more than enough, and if there are ways that this can help out the athletic department, the other programs and coaches, by not tying up so much [in men’s basketball], that’s my desire…I have more than I need. I’m blessed beyond what I deserve.” Not only that, the coach also donated $500,000 toward a career-training initiative for current and former UVA men’s basketball players. Bennett went on to say that he consulted with his wife, Laurel, before making the decision to turn the money down. “She’s always said, ‘Is there something we can do that can make a difference?’ That’s been on her heart and mind, and we’ve talked about it a lot,” he revealed. According to an estimate from USA Today, Bennett made approximately $4.15 million last season. This includes his base salary of $525,000, $1.175 million in performance incentives for the team’s 2018-2019 season, $2.5 million in annual “supplemental compensation,” which typically includes compensation for a university’s use of a coach’s likeness or image, and a longevity bonus of $1 million for staying with the team. Though it’s commendable that Bennet turned down a raise, these aforementioned numbers already put him among some of the highest-paid college coaches in the country. According to CNBC, the top 10 highest-paid NCAA basketball coaches all make over $3 million while the highest-paid coach, Duke’s Mike Krzyzewski, makes around $9 million per year. “Laurel and I are in a great spot, and in the past I’ve had increases in my contract,” said Bennett. “We just feel a great peace about where we’re at, all that’s taken place, and how we feel about this athletic department and this community and this school. Killer Mike provided a strong countering argument that was just as vital as the preceding conversation, urging economic independence over political posturing. What sparked Tip and Owens’ tiff was a discussion over the “Make American Great Again” slogan, which prompted the Atlanta rapper and podcaster to ask when exactly was the country great, especially for Black Americans. While some points were made in the heated debate, Killer Mike’s words challenged the opposing panelists and the audience in attendance with grace and ease. In the end it turned out the wolves he boasted about having turned on him and got him themselves, but was it all an act? In today’s age of social media fame and peoples endless pursuit of “likes” we wouldn’t put anything past anybody. Tekashi for his part is set to take the stand as early as today (September 17) and being that he’s facing all kinds of charges of his own you can expect prosecutors to be standing by with a gang of coin roll wrappers for all the dimes he’s expected to drop. After months of legal wrangling, the fate of Joe Giudice will soon be decided. Giudice has been held in an ICE detention center ever since his release from prison back in March. After serving his time for tax evasion, Giudice was marked for deportation back to his native Italy. While he was born in Europe, the former reality star has been living in the US since early childhood, and he claims to not speak a word of Italian. Joe’s entire family — including his wife and four daughters — lives in New Jersey, and he’s told the court that he feels he would be unable to earn a living in Italy. Giudice was not exactly a beloved figure during his time on The Real Housewives of New Jersey, but his current situation has engendered a surprising amount of compassion. Unfortunately for Joe, none of that sympathy comes from his wife, Teresa Giudice. From the start, Teresa has made it clear that she’ll divorce Joe if he gets deported. As his case became increasingly desperate and plea after plea was denied, Teresa went ahead and started acting like she was already single. These days, Teresa is dating a much younger man named Blake Schreck , and insiders are convinced she’s planning to divorce Joe whether he gets deported or not. “Joe’s family believes that Teresa is going to file for divorce no matter what,” a source close to the situation tells Radar Online. “Teresa is going to file for divorce from Joe regardless of what the outcome is,” says a different insider. “Joe’s family knows this. Everyone knows this. She has tasted her freedom and she isn’t going to return to him.” Seemingly in confirmation of these claims, Teresa has stopped attending Joe’s court hearings. A spokesperson for the Real Housewife claims that she and Schreck are nothing more than business partners: “This is a working business relationship between two professionals,” says the rep. “They are collectively working on a project that includes other individuals and have been for quite some time. It’s 100 percent strictly business.” You’ll note, however, he does not deny that she’s planning to leave Joe.
