Earlier this month former editor Sandra Guzman sued the New York Post for being an alleged hellhole of racism and sexism . Today, a recently fired reporter filed a lawsuit claiming he was “banned” from the newsroom for being black. The New York Post Is a Hellish Cauldron of Racism, Sexism, and White Rage: Lawsuit

A former New York Post editor who was fired last month for complaining about a ludicrously racist cartoon has filed a detailed complaint in federal court accusing editor Col Allan of racism, sexism, and all-round dickishiness of the highest order. Sandra Guzman was an editor at the Post charged with running, among other things, a section aimed at Latino readers.

Is Google Using Pilfered Maps?

The town of Argleton, England doesn’t exist, but you can search its white pages, look for nearby chiropractors and map a jog through town, because “Argleton” is on Google Maps .

No, Every Newspaper Does Not Need to Cover the World Series

There are many reasons to mourn the slow death of the newspaper industry — first and foremost the hordes of people losing their jobs. The disappearance of all-expense-paid journalist conventions masquerading as “major assignments” is not one of them. Murray Chass , who despite retiring from the New York Times several years ago is still apparently in the press box at the Yankees-Phillies series, has noticed that there aren’t as many familiar faces around this year.

The Undefeated Champ-een of the Washington Post Style Desk

Yesterday, 68 year-old Washington Post editor Henry Allen (pictured!) hauled off and popped staff writer Manuel Roig-Franzia right in his grill , like BLAM! The Washington City Paper now has all the details, and we are prepared to make a ruling. Erik Wemple reports that Allen and Roig-Franzia had been beefing for days before the incident, ever since Henry questioned one of Manuel’s stories and Manuel called him a “dick.” Then, last Friday, Manuel allegedly “reached across the table and grabbed Allen’s notepad, tearing a page from it.” Cruising for a bruising, Manuel. Selling woof tickets.

Holocaust Denial Finds Place in Harvard Paper’s "Cracks"

Harvard. It’s revered as one of the nation’s most prestigious institutions of higher learning. Why, then, did the university’s newspaper, The Harvard Crimson , run a holocaust denier’s advert after rejecting it over a decade ago

Twitter ‘Investigative’ Journalism 101: The Syllabus

When we read this morning that a Chicago Tribune intern would be teaching a journalism school class on ” investigative ” Twitter use, our jaws hit the floor. But then the intern/professor in question sent us a copy of the class syllabus.

Mark Penn and Wall Street Journal Now Equally Pathetic

We were disappointed yesterday when the cowardly Wall Street Journal failed to fire faux-trendspotting flack Mark Penn for using his newspaper column to troll for PR clients. But—hearteningly—both Penn and the paper appear increasingly pathetic! We do feel for the beleaguered actual reporters in the WSJ newsroom, who have to see their own reputations suffer by association while their paper’s leadership caves in to a celebrity pseudo-columnist’s right to disregard basic conflict-of-interest rules
