A horde of people protested NBC for its decision to have Donald Trump host Saturday Night Live. This is the same network, after all, who essentially fired the Presidential hopeful from The Apprentice after inflammatory comments he made about Mexicans. (Which preceded inflammatory comments he made about women…. and then Muslims …) Politics, sexism and racism aside, however, one crucial question remained heading into this weekend: Could Donald Trump actually be funny? He began his attempt via a monologue, one in which he continually mixed up Aidy Bryant for long-time nemesis Rosie O'Donnell. He was also flanked at one point by Taran Killam, who parodies him now on the sketch comedy series; and by Darrell Hammond, who portrayed him in the past on SNL. At one point, a heckler screamed “You’re a racist!” at Trump, only for the cameras to cut away backstage, where Larry Davis (who resurrected his amazing impression of Bernie Sanders on the episode) admitted he just made $5,000 for that accusation. So, how did Trump do overall? He didn't strike out during the monologue, but he didn't really try to hit a home run, either, which is a it surprising knowing the (awful) man. Check out the video below and sound off on Trump as Saturday Night Live host yourself. Did NBC make a mistake in bringing him on board? Is all controversy good controversy? Is it SNL's job to serve as Ethics Police? Or merely to aim for the highest-rated episodes it can? A debate over such issues would likely be more entertaining than this Donald Trump monlogue. Photos Of Greg Hardy’s Girlfriend After Domestic Attack Are Revealed We recently reported that NFL baller Greg Hardy was arrested for domestic violence after he brutally beat his then girlfriend, Nicole Holder. It was later reported that St. Louis rapper Nelly was caught in the middle of the love triangle after the baller was popped on assault charges following an argument that his girlfriend says was about her past “relationship” with Nelly. Newly released photos from Deadspin show that the attack was way more violent then people realized… A year and a half after Hardy was arrested and charged with attacking Holder, it’s clear that she was mostly right. Last year, Hardy was convicted of assault in a bench trial, but the charges were dismissed on appeal and, it was reported yesterday, expunged. He missed more than a season of football, but went on to sign with the Dallas Cowboys, for whom he’s become a bigger star than ever despite (or perhaps because of) a series of incidents ranging from making sexist comments in a press conference to going after a coach on the sidelines. Jerry Jones, the Cowboys’ billionaire owner, calls him a “real leader” who has the respect of all his teammates and inspires America’s Team. Unlike Ray Rice, the former Baltimore Ravens star who was filmed knocking his future wife unconscious in an elevator, Hardy hasn’t become a pariah. That’s partly because he’s more valuable on the field, but also because of the perception that nobody knows what really happened that night. Hardy won’t talk about it; Holder has gone quiet ever since, prosecutors say, she received a settlement, which contributed to the criminal case against him falling apart. And, crucially, no photos or videos ever came out. Police and prosecutorial records that detail what happened that night have largely been kept from the public—though not from the NFL. Deadspin has obtained hundreds of pages of those records, some previously reported—police reports, interview transcripts, and more. Photos, dozens of them, show bruises over much of Holder’s body, including her back, her arms, her legs, her chin, her neck, and even her foot. Holder wasn’t too eager to report her abuse to police because she knew Greg wouldn’t be punished and judging by the fact that he’s still playing every Sunday for the Cowboys, she was right. SMH!!!! Anthony Smith Convicted Of Three Murders A star NFL baller from the 90’s apparently took up a life of crime after leaving the game. Anthony Smith was found guilty of three separate murders and now faces some serious prison time . Via TMZsports : Ex-Oakland Raiders defensive end Anthony Smith — a 1st round pick in the ’90 NFL Draft — was just convicted of killing 3 men … and now faces life in prison. Smith — who played for the Raiders from ’91 to ’97 — was in a Lancaster, CA courtroom when the jury announced that he was guilty of killing 2 men in 1999 and another in 2001. Cops say Smith kidnapped two brothers — Kevin and Ricky Nettles — from a car wash in 1999 and then shot them to death. Their bodies were dumped roughly 8 miles apart. In 2001, cops say Smith was part of a group that kidnapped Dennis Henderson and then stabbed him to death. The 48-year-old now faces life in prison without the possibility of parole. First OSU , now this?! Alleged Drunk Driver Crashes Through Delaware State University Homecoming A man believed to be under the influence of alcohol was arrested this weekend after he injured 7 people, one critically, at Delaware State University’s homecoming festivities. Police report that Gregory Ligon drove a Mercedes Benz through the school’s yard and pinned a woman against a tree after trying to stop it from going into reverse. Delaware State News reports: A woman was critically injured and six others injured when a car crashed into a crowd of people gathered on the Delaware State University campus Saturday evening, according to Dover Police. The remaining homecoming activities planned for the evening were canceled, police said in a Sunday morning news release. Master Cpl. Mark Hoffman, Dover Police public information officer, said the incident occurred at approximately 7:28 p.m., when Gregory Ligon, 28, of Mitchellville, Maryland, was driving a Mercedes Benz sedan in the area of the fraternity picnic area. Police said Mr. Ligon attempted to park his vehicle in the area and exited it once he did so, forgetting the vehicle was still in reverse. According to police, Mr. Ligon returned to the driver’s seat to stop the vehicle, but allegedly pushed the gas pedal instead of the brake. The vehicle accelerated over a curb and across a grassy area full of people. Police said the driver side door was open. Police said the vehicle struck seven people. The most serious of the injuries occurred when the driver door hit a 21-year-old female and pinned her against a tree. This victim was later flown to Christiana Hospital with major injuries. Police said the vehicle then continued as the driver door broke off, until it struck another tree and came to a stop. At that time Mr. Ligon was removed from the vehicle by several bystanders. Police said Mr. Ligon was found to be under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash and will be charged with the following crimes:first-degree vehicular assault, six charges of second-degree vehicular assault, DU, and no proof of insurance. This is so scary. Don’t drink and drive folks, it’s just not worth it.
Charles Perry’s New Album Takes Its Cues From Back In The Day Soul singer Charles Perry has one foot stuck firmly in the past – and that’s how he likes it. The Brooklyn musician borrowed from genres of yesteryear for his new album, “The Soul Superhero,” which pays homage to the old school with elements of funk, rock, R&B and pop. One highlight is “Panty Drop,” a doo-wop inflected, Little Richard-inspired ode to dropping the drawers that Perry said was inspired by his late grandfather, who also sang. “I’m still stuck in that time,” Perry told BOSSIP. “That’s what’s in my ear everyday. They get sick of me playing these records, but I can’t.” Perry was raised in a strict Baptist family and grew up singing in the church. He said he’d sneak and listen to his father’s record collection, taking in songs from artists like Marvin Gaye, Frank Sinatra, James Brown and the Rev. James Moore. “That sound came from the greats,” Perry said. “That time, I call it the ‘Golden Years,’ when singing was singing.” Perry’s musical perspective and knack for holding a tune drew the attention of the late gospel singer Ronald Winans when Perry was just eight years old. Winans approached him after he’d performed with his choir at the McDonalds Gospel Fest. “He said, ‘that’s a gift from God,’” Perry recalled. “‘You can’t play with that.’ That really stood out to me. That was a turning point for me.” Winan’s accolade was the push Perry needed to devote his life to music, and the end result was the album. He said his biggest critic – his 13-year-old, Prince Josiah – has already given it the seal of approval. “He loves it,” Perry said. “He’s excited. He thinks it’s cool.
