Monday night on ABC, Dancing With the Stars Season 20 Episode 1 kicked off the show’s 10th anniversary (they do two seasons per year) in terrific fashion. The premiere encapsulated so many of the things that have made the show a hit for that long, from the music to the celebrity stories to, yes, the dancing. No perfect 10s or even 9s were awarded on night one, but a couple of stars already shone brightly, while some others clearly have their work cut out. Let’s check out the Dancing With the Stars Season 20 Episode 1 performances … Rumer Willis & Val Chmerkovskiy – Dancing With the Stars Season 20 Week 1 Rumer Willis and Valentin Chmerkovskiy: The daughter of Bruce Willis and Demi Moore, who were there with her sisters Tallulah and Scout, won the night. Her foxtrot drew glowing praise from the panel (and her famous family) and established her instantly as one of the stars to watch this coming season. Noah Galloway & Sharna Burgess – Cha Cha – Dancing With The Stars – Season 20 Week 1 Noah Galloway and Sharna Burgess: The inspirational, heroic, amputee Army vet instantly became a fan favorite when his introductory video aired. He also became a challenge for partner Sharna from the standpoint of a choreographer, who told him he plus play on the fact that he is a titan among men. Will he become a titan of dance as he broadens the scope (as Carrie Ann Inaba put it) of what dancing looks like? Only time will tell, but not bad. Score: 26 . Willow Shields & Mark Ballas – Dancing With the Stars Season 20 Week 1 Willow Shields and Mark Ballas: The Hunger Games actress, who at 14 years old is the youngest celebrity ever on the show, definitely looked the part. Still, she seemed to surpass the low bar that would be set for her and earned mostly praise from the judges despite mediocre scores in this opener. Score: 25 . Suzanne Somers & Tony Dovolani – Dancing With the Stars Season 20 Week 1 Suzanne Somers and Tony Dovolani: Defying the aging process is one thing, but keeping up with Olivia Newton-John’s “Physical” proved to be another. Ray Rice Awarded Millions By The Ravens For Wrongful Termination Ray Rice received $1.588 million from the Baltimore Ravens as part of the settlement in his wrongful-termination grievance hearing in January, the Baltimore Sun reported Tuesday, citing sources. Via ESPN reports: As a result of the settlement, the Ravens will carry an additional $177,000 against the 2015 salary cap. The NFL had placed a $1.411 million cap charge against the Ravens’ 2014 cap when Rice filed his grievance. So, the additional $177,000 will carry over into 2015. Rice was seeking $3.529 million, the amount he would have earned had he played the remaining 14 games of the regular season after being suspended for two games. He was suspended indefinitely Sept. 8 for violating the NFL’s personal conduct policy after a video of him hitting Janay, his then-fiancée, emerged and began widely circulating. The Ravens released Rice that day, and his contract was terminated. The incident occurred in February 2014 inside an elevator at an Atlantic City, New Jersey, casino. Rice was reinstated in December after a neutral arbitrator overturned his NFL suspension on appeal. Commissioner Roger Goodell had initially suspended Rice for two games before increasing the punishment to an indefinite ban after the video surfaced. Rice, who did not play last season, has repeatedly apologized for his actions. Rice, 28, is a three-time Pro Bowler and helped the Ravens win Super Bowl XLVII. Son Of Former Chicago Bears Player Adrian Peterson Dies Of Cancer So sad. Former NFL player Adrian Peterson (of the Bears rather than the Vikings) has lost his son to an inoperable brain tumor . Via WSBtv : The 7-year-old son of former Chicago Bears running back and Georgia Southern standout Adrian Peterson passed away on Tuesday following his battle with brain cancer. He made the announcement on social media Tuesday. “#Ajsoars is in Heaven, where he belongs…#ajsoars #P3 #MyFirstSuperHero,” Peterson posted on his Facebook page Tuesday morning. He was diagnosed in June 2014, when he was just 6 years old. The Peterson family received an outpouring of support through social media, as they publicly documented the young boy’s heath struggles. Since leaving the NFL, Adrian Peterson has devoted his life to helping others. The Adrian Peterson Foundation is a nonprofit foundation that helps needy children. The internet community returned the favor, raising more than $40,000 for A.J.’s medical expenses in just the past 7 months. In February 2015, AJ was named an honorary officer with the Round Lake Police Department in a ceremony with Round Lake police and Make-A-Wish. Peterson was a star running back for Georgia Southern from 1998-2001, and played for the Chicago Bears from 2002-2009. Indeed, The Vampire Diaries Season 6 Episode 14 was a well-acted, emotionally manipulative, TERRIBLE installment of this CW series. Titled “Stay,” the episode basically honed in on two developments we knew to be coming for many weeks: FIRST, Jeremy left town. No, not to art school. That was the big shocker. Instead, he made a deal with Alaric to go hunt down mean vampires. Everyone else thinks he got into the only art school that apparently begins in the middle of a high school semester, without ever asking for proof of acceptance or anything. The character has been rendered useless for years now, a point driven home by his goodbye not even concluding the hour. Instead, that honor fell to the SECOND supposedly big development of the night: Liz Forbes is dead. She was cool and all. We liked her just fine. But she was also a secondary character if there ever was one – and the episode simply wasted a chunk of time with her trying to figure out who killed Elena’s parents… only to discover the answer was no one. They died of a basic car accident. The sheriff’s condition helped Stefan and Caroline finally get together, as they shared a kiss at the cabin. Go ahead and watch The Vam[ire Diaries online to see this romantic moment play out. Finally, Enzo ran over Matt with Sarah watching just so he could bite himself and give Matt his blood as part of his really strange plan to make Sarah want to be a vampire. Well, okay then!
