Aaron Hernandez Pleads Not Guilty to Murder, NFL Star "Confident He Will Be Exonerated"

As expected, former NFL star Aaron Hernandez pleaded not guilty to charges of first-degree murder and more in a Massachusetts court on Friday. Six times, a charge was read and six times, his plea was “Not guilty.” Hernandez pleaded not guilty to the murder of his friend, 27-year-old semipro football player Odin Lloyd, and five accompanying weapons charges. Today was his arraignment. His next hearing is October 9. Hernandez will seek bail on that date. Until then, he’ll remain held in a Bristol County correctional facility, where he has been since his arrest on June 26. A Bristol County District Court judge has ordered the athlete held without bail, citing the seriousness of the charges and the convincing evidence . Hernandez’s attorneys will attack the circumstantial evidence next month, but bail is unlikely with other investigations – with possible links to him – pending. Just the same, his lawyers said he will be “exonerated” and asked the public not to jump to conclusions based on “one-sided and untested” evidence. “In a sense, this is like the opening kickoff,” Hernandez lawyer Charles Rankin said after the arraignment, “and we have a long way to go before trial.” “We encourage everyone to keep an open mind. We feel confident when evidence is presented in a court of law, Aaron Hernandez will be exonerated.” Last month, prosecutors divulged that police are probing Hernandez’s possible ties to a double homicide in Boston in 2012 in which two men were killed. Then, in February 2013, a shooting in Florida took place and one of Hernandez’s friends said he shot him in the face and blinded him in one eye. That friend, Alexander Bradley, has filed a lawsuit that says the ex-New England Patriot shot him as they argued in a car, then dumped him in an alley to die. Hernandez was granted a stay in that case until criminal charges against him in Massachusetts – and any other possible jurisdiction – have been settled. Stay tuned.

Peyton Manning Throws Record-Tying 7 TD Passes In Season Opener Just when y’all thought it was time for good ole Peyton to call it quits…. Via Pro Football Talk: Peyton Manning matched an NFL record with seven touchdown passes in a single game as the Denver Broncos throttled the defending Super Bowl champion Ravens 49-27 in the league’s regular season opener. Manning joins a group of just six quarterbacks to have thrown for seven touchdowns in a game and is the first to do so since 1969. Sid Luckman (CHI, 1943), Adrian Burk (PHI, 1954), George Blanda (HOU, 1961), Y.A. Tittle (NYG, 1962) and Joe Kapp (MIN, 1969) are the only other quarterbacks to accomplish the feat. According to Randall Liu of the league’s communications staff, Manning joins Tittle as just the second to throw seven touchdowns without an interception. It was the third time in Manning’s career he had thrown for at least six touchdowns in a game and the first time since 2004. It’s just one game but Denver looks like their certainly belong as Super Bowl contenders. The Ravens look like a team searching for answers. It’s was a tough moment for you Ravens’ fans last night…how many of you are excited for football season??

I don’t know a lot about this Brittny Gastineau , other than that she spells her name wrong, but judging from the funbags and the way she’s hanging out at the beach, I’m going to assume she’s a reality TV star. Turns out she’s not some Real Housewife though. Because even though she looks like a cougar-in-training, apparently Brittny’s best friends with Kim Kardashian . She’s also the daughter of former NFL sack-master Mark Gastineau, but despite both of those things, she’s not built like a linebacker. They let him out? Lawrence Taylor’s Son Released From Jail He may have been released from jail, but charges like this stick with you no matter where you go…hard to shake. According to TMZ The son of NFL legend Lawrence Taylor — has just been released from jail after his July arrest for statutory, child molestation, and sodomy, TMZ has learned. LTJ’s mom bonded out her son moments ago in Georgia. Bond was set at $50,000. The 31-year-old will remain free until his next court date, which hasn’t been scheduled yet. TMZ broke the story … LTJ was arrested on July 7 on 3 counts: statutory (felony), aggravated child molestation (felony), and statutory aggravated sodomy (felony). He remained in custody until today. According to the warrant, a female under the age of 16 accused LTJ of forcibly performing oral sex on her (legally referred to as “sodomy” in this case). Another underage girl also accused LTJ of having sex with her multiple times last year. If convicted of either child molestation or sodomy, LTJ faces 25 years to life in prison. The statutory charge carries a sentence of 1 to 20 years. LTJ’s lawyer tells us, “Mr. Taylor has some serious challenges that lay ahead of him and we are focusing on those challenges. This is a tough case, no winners here.” You’ll recall, LTJ’s father was infamously arrested for forced sex back in 2010 after having sex with an underage prostitute. LT (senior) pled guilty to one count of patronizing a prostitute and one count of sexual misconduct. He was sentenced to 6 years probation with no jail time — and was ordered to register as a sex offender. You know a family is phucked up when both the father and son are charged with forced sex. Survivor: Blood vs. Water Cast Revealed, With a Twist

The new season of Survivor pits loved ones against each other. Thus the subtitle, Blood vs. Water! What other twists lie in store? And who’s been cast? Starting September 29, the season will be comprised of 39-and-a-half days, kicking off with “Day Zero,” where 10 pairs of loved ones will be sent off. “The whole idea was to try and get them thinking and maybe believing that they would play as a pair,” Jeff Probst teases of the season’s angle. The loved ones will then be split into two tribes, with returning players on Galang and their “partners” on Tadhana. That should be a fun twist. Looks like Yeezy is making nice with his future mother-in-law . Via US Weekly reports : Kris Jenner’s talk show will be ending its trial run with a VIP guest! A source confirms to Us Weekly that Kanye West has taped an appearance on Kris, where he talked about his relationship with Jenner’s daughter Kim Kardashian and their 2-month-old baby girl, North. West, 36, taped his special interview with Jenner, 57, in Culver City, Calif. on Monday, Aug. 19. The insider tells Us the rapper is “really bringing it” for the interview and opens up about the baby, living with Kris Jenner, his relationship with the press and love for Kardashian. West even joked that he’s been “so in love” with Kim, whom he began dating in April 2012, that he thought about “playing sports.” (Kardashian, 32, was previously married to NBA player Kris Humphries and dated NFL player Reggie Bush.) A second source tells Us that West’s exclusive interview will air Friday, Aug. 23, which is the finale episode of Jenner’s six-week trial summer run. Kardashian already made a surprise appearance on her mom’s show on Aug. 2 — but only via a video message. The new mom kept her post-baby body hidden by only showing her face in the tape. “Hey mom, I just wanted to say congratulations on your new show,” she said. “I’m sorry I couldn’t be there in person, but I’m just loving life a little bit too much at home right now.” We’re glad Kanye is doing the best thing for his baby! We can understand him not wanting North to be filmed for the E! reality show but supporting his girl’s mom as she tries to move into the talk TV arena is definitely a favor worth doing.

San Francisco 49ers star quarterback Colin Kaepernick poses shirtless on the new cover of GQ, hitting newsstands just in time for the new NFL season. The upstart came out of nowhere to lead San Francisco to the Super Bowl last season. What does he have planned for an encore here in 2013? We put nothing past him. A high school player who received no Division I college offers, and who wasn’t even deemed good enough to start last fall, he does not lack for overconfidence. Humble beginnings and a diverse background define Colin, adopted by Teresa and Rick Kaepernick, married high school sweethearts from Wisconsin. Biological and racial differences did not impede the love the Kaepernicks felt for their son. In fact, his dad says they brought them closer together. “Colin knew from the beginning that he was different,” says Rick. “We’d just say, ‘You’ve got such beautiful brown skin! We’re jealous! We never wanted him to feel he was white or that he should be.
