The Detroit Lions may not win very often on the field. But the team has now gone back-to-back where it really counts: The Madden video game cover! Following in the cleat-steps of Calvin Johnson last year , legendary running back Barry Sanders was voted the cover star of this wildly popular video game’s 25th edition, beating out an impressive field in the process. Sanders triumphed over Ray Lewis, Marcus Allen, Joe Montana and Jerry Rice on his way to the finals, defeating Adrian Peterson in the championship yesterday. “The Madden NFL franchise has such a rich tradition and history, and there’s no better way to celebrate our 25th Anniversary than by having one of the best players of all-time on the cover,” said Anthony Stevenson, Senior Director of Marketing for EA SPORTS. “Barry Sanders has long been a fan favorite, so we’re proud to have him as the face of Madden NFL 25.” Sanders played his full 10-year career with the Lions, rushing for 15,269 yards and 99 touchdowns before shocking the sports world when he retired after the 1998 season.

Is the NFL ready for an openly gay football player ? Chris Clemons Says It Would Be ‘Selfish’ For NFL Player To Be Gay VIa HuffPo reports: There has never been an openly gay player in the NFL, and Seattle Seahawks defensive end Chris Clemons thinks it might be best if it stays that way. In a series of tweets on Tuesday, Clemons said he didn’t think it would be a good idea for a player to come out of the closet while playing professional football, although he insisted he wasn’t homophobic. “Who on Gods earth is this person saying he’s coming out of the closet in the NFL?” tweeted Clemons. Speculation about the possibility of a professional football player coming out picked up this week after a report by Mike Freeman of CBS Sports. “Based on interviews over the past several weeks with current and former players, I’m told that a current gay NFL player is strongly considering coming out publicly within the next few months — and after doing so, the player would attempt to continue his career,” wrote Freeman. He added that the player believes it is “now time for someone to take this step” but is worried about the reaction of homophobic fans. Clemons then explained that he wasn’t against playing with a gay teammate, but he thought coming out of the closet would be a “selfish act” by the player in question. He then added: This is the new homophobic argument- gays are selfish for foisting their lifestyle choices on us. Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight! Do you think the NFL and sports world are ready for gay players?? Twitter
It is officially – and legally – on between Porsha Williams and Kordell Stewart . Following the latter’s unexpected divorce filing this week, the Real Housewives of Atlanta star has fired back at her estranged husband via her very own set of court documents. And they counter Stewart’s claim that Williams is not entitled to spousal support because she’s capable of earning her own income. In what way? Porsha says her professional opportunities were set back when she quit her job and sold her business to care for Kordell’s child from another woman. She is therefore seeking alimony and sole use of the couple’s Atlanta home. According to Williams’ attorney, his client did not want to file papers because Stewart had promised he would work on his marriage with her. But with that vow broken, it’s all about to get even uglier than Stewart’s career completion percentage as an NFL quarterback.

Tim Tebow TiVo Commercial The famous virgin has been offered David Dginguerian’s next movie, as the producer sent a letter to the signal caller this week and referred to Tebow as an “inspiration to so many on the field and off.” As a result, Dginguerian is “certain that [his] passion will also come through in films.” Dginguerian is the man behind the religious film Crossroad and although he doesn’t actually specify the type of movie for which he wants Tebow now, the executive does refer to the project as “faith-based.” With his NFL career, ironically, at a crossroads, Tebow has also been offered a job with the Arena League .
