Katy Perry, John Mayer Hit the Strip Club!

That’s what you get for waking up in Vegas … with John Mayer. Katy Perry and her on-again, off-again maybe-boyfriend are not only hanging out again, they’re doing so at strip clubs in Vegas. Good. Times. They were spotted in Sin City early Sunday morning with a group of friends, having spent their night out at famed strip joint Spearmint Rhino. Katy and John recently began canoodling again after a brief split. “They were together in a group,” an onlooker said of the pair. “As for whether they got dances, they were in a strip club … you do the math.” What math there is to do (beyond how many $12.50 Bud Lights one can rack up on a single tab) it’s unclear, but they stayed out until 5 a.m. ! Earlier in the evening, Perry and Mayer checked into the Wynn Hotel – site of the now-infamous Prince Harry nude shenanigans – together. What do you think? John Mayer and Katy Perry …

Usher Fires Back at "Vile" Ex-Wife

A judge may have ruled, but the legal battle between Usher and Tameka Foster appears to have no end in sight. Late last month, the singer won primary custody of the two children he shares with Foster, only for his ex-wife to appeal the decision on the grounds that the judge was biased because Usher raised funds for his campaign in 2008. And now Usher has filed a motion in response to that appeal. In documents submitted last Wednesday, the artist urges the court to deny Foster’s request because it is “an assault on the integrity of the court.” He argues that the granting of a new custody trial would create a slippery slope in which all decisions could be a reversed if an attorney contributed to a judge’s campaign. Usher alleges that Foster’s legal maneuvering “constitutes a continuum of [Tameka’s] vile and unsupported claims that every person who dared testify against her … is biased and tainted.” No word from the judge regarding either filing yet, but we have a feeling we have not heard the last from either of these parties. Not by a long shot. [Photo: WENN.com]

Brandi Glanville Denies Eddie Cibrian Affair

Brandi Glanville is lashing out over online rumors that she’s been having an affair with her ex-husband, Eddie Cibrian, insisting she would “never do that.” The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star has been linked to her ex since his current wife, LeAnn Rimes, checked into a treatment facility last month. “I’m NOT cheating with my ex husband I would never do that #EWWWWWW,” Glanville, who has publicly supported Rimes , wrote on Twitter Sunday. Glanville and Rimes have famously been at odds since her affair with Cibrian when he was still married to Brandi and LeAnn was Mrs. Dean Sheremet. Despite a bitter relationship that included Glanvile threatening to kill LeAnn, she, Eddie and Rimes appeared to have reached a truce in recent months. “I totally support LeAnn’s decision to enter rehab,” she said in a statement. “My top priority is my children and at the end of the day we are a family.” Rumors persisted that LeAnn’s stress and anxiety issues stem from Glanville finally getting revenge for Rimes’ wrecking her marriage to the actor. Not the case, she insists, though the affair likely played an indirect role in driving LeAnn to seek treatment. She’s endured merciless bullying over it. The country star left her in-patient treatment program Friday for three days of concerts. She’s announced she’ll be returning to the facility Monday. [Photos: WENN.com]

Clint Eastwood on Invisible Obama: Just Winging It!

Clint Eastwood is speaking out to his hometown newspaper about his bizarre appearance at the RNC and “conversation” with an ” Invisible Obama .” The 82-year-old Academy Award-winner tells the Carmel Pine Cone that he came into the night with three things he wanted to communicate: That not everybody in Hollywood is on the left That Obama has broken a lot of the promises That people should vote out failed politicians Mission accomplished, he said. As for the empty chair, Eastwood made it clear to Mitt Romney’s campaign early on that he planned to wing his speech. That is what he did. The empty chair was a last-minute idea .

From Bridesmaids To Bachelorette: Why Rebel Wilson Is The Most Interesting Woman In Hollywood

I slid into a booth at the Four Seasons recently to chat with Rebel Wilson , the comedienne and rising scene-stealer of this week’s Bachelorette and the upcoming toe-tapper Pitch Perfect , smitten with her work in Bridesmaids , in which she turned a brief turn as Kristen Wiig’s terrible British roommate into one of the more indelible comic Hollywood debuts in recent memory. Over the course of our conversation about everything — her dog show past, her law degree, gangsta rap , reality TV, her Bring It On obsession, WWII-era international relations, and why she considered The Grove her “happy place” when she moved from her native Australia to L.A. two years ago — I realized that Rebel Wilson is, indeed, the most interesting woman in Hollywood. She’s so naturally funny she gets laughs even when playing the straight woman, as she does in Leslye Headland ‘s R-rated Bachelorette (in limited release today) opposite the bad-girl trifecta of Kirsten Dunst, Lizzy Caplan, and Isla Fisher. In a wicked reversal of fortune it’s Wilson’s former freak/chubby bride-to-be Becky who’s eclipsed her cooler and prettier friends in life — and, even as they inadvertently threaten to ruin her wedding, Becky’s naive loyalty underscores the point: Mean girls finish last. Wilson’s knack for memorable characters, honed by years in Australian TV and a stranger-than-fiction upbringing (“I try to do it take the tragic things in my life and make them into comedy”) led her to October’s college a capella comedy Pitch Perfect , in which she plays as a confident Aussie student who calls herself “Fat Amy.” “In the script the character is called ‘Fat Amy,’ so it’s really hard to send it to actresses,” joked producer Elizabeth Banks. “Rebel recognized what an iconic character Fat Amy would be.” Next she appears in Chris Colfer’s coming-of-age debut Struck By Lightning and Michael Bay’s Pain & Gain . Wilson’s also set to write, produce, and star in her own ABC sitcom, Super Fun Night , working with Conan O’Brien. “It’s about three girls who live in New York,” she explained. “They’re just very nerdy and they really don’t have a social life … they used to have a thing called Friday Night Fun Night where they stayed indoors and watched DVDs and ate pizza. Super Fun Night is their new concept as they try to become more cool and popular. It’s kind of based on me.” It really feels like you’re in the midst of a big moment in your career, with Bachelorette and Pitch Perfect coming out… Ahh! It has been pretty good. When I came to America I thought, wouldn’t it be awesome to get into one movie? And then I get cast in Bridesmaids as my first job here and it’s such a huge movie. Even though sometimes to me it doesn’t feel fast, because I have been here two years now, I’ve done eight movies in that time so there are days and weeks where to me it doesn’t feel fast at all. But all my agents, who represent super famous people, are like, ‘Rebel, this is, like, really fast!’ [Laughs] And it has turned out like the dream — I couldn’t have even dreamt that things would go this well. I don’t know how often you look at your own Wikipedia page or Google yourself, but your bio is the stuff of legend. Is it? I guess my life is interesting. Tell me this is all true: Your parents were dog showers? Yes. Like Best in Show ? Exactly like Best In Show . Beagles. And it was so embarrassing, but what I try to do is take the tragic things in my life and make them into comedy. I used to hate the dog show — it was so boring and it was so dorky, but now I look back on it fondly. Every weekend we’d go to the dog shows and show the dogs, but now I’m like, I guess it was an interesting environment to grow up in… it was a weird, competitive environment of this group of people who loved dogs and they’d wear weird outfits and go to weird places out in the country to do these dog shows. [Laughs] But it was an interesting upbringing. More interesting than most. It wasn’t like I was a child actor who got pimped out by their mother to do commercials. You also have the coolest name ever. Did you always love it? Oh, thank you — but not always. I went to a Christian high school so I went under my middle name. I don’t think they would have accepted me in the school — ‘This is Rebel ’… so I have two middle names, Melanie Elizabeth, and I went under those. But Rebel’s way cooler. Another true fact: Your siblings were on The Amazing Race ? Yes! The first ever Australian series, which is exactly the same as the American one. And they came in last! My sister was on the show five days and vomited five times on camera. It was pretty funny because my family, we love reality shows like The Amazing Race and Survivor , and so when they had the opportunity to go on we were like, ‘Yay, you’re probably going to win!’ And we thought up all of this strategy, but they came in last. They said doing it is so different from watching it on TV. It’s so hard. They get no sleep, no food, it was a really hard experience. [Laughs] So your real life is almost stranger than fiction. Did you always want to end up here in Hollywood? As a kid I never thought I’d be an actress. Never, ever, ever, no way. I was really shy — bordering on social disorder shy — and I was really academic. Really good at math, I had weird abilities, so everyone thought I’d be a lawyer because I did really good at school. Did you want to be a lawyer? Well, I actually have a law degree. I’ve done that at the same time as acting, which was really hard — I should have quit, but then it took a lot of work to get into that law school after high school so I was like, I may as well do it on the side. So I’d often be filming or doing plays and sometimes I’d have to miss my law exams because I was in a show in Australia, but they said ok, you can come back next week and do the exam, which was cool. I’m like, ‘Um, I’m filming this movie with Nicolas Cage — I kind of can’t come to the exam…’ But I literally had to attend 80% of the classes to get my law degree, so it was really hard. Often I’d fly into law school because I’d be in another state, and have to fly in for a day of law school. It was difficult. Has that law degree come in handy in your show biz career? When I first started, I did negotiate a lot of my own contracts. People look at me and they see my funny, stupid characters and they have no idea. Sometimes when I say yeah, I could practice as a lawyer if I wanted to, people are like, “What? Who’d want you as a lawyer?” I would totally hire you as my lawyer . I’d be good. I’d crack good jokes, I’d be all friendly with the judge. I think it could work. How did Bachelorette come to you? Another girl, Casey Wilson, was actually cast as the bride but she was on a TV show so she couldn’t come to New York and film it. They had all this amazing cast in place already, Kirsten [Dunst] and Lizzy [Caplan] and Isla [Fisher] and James Marsden, and they were looking for a girl to play the bride. Obviously I think they wanted a girl who was bigger, for the “Pig Face” stuff to work, and I read the script and it wasn’t an easy fit, because normally I play the wacky character and not the straight girl. This could kind of be a challenge because Becky has to be the more grounded straight character. It’s a fun reversal, to see you playing it straight and Kirsten, Lizzy, and Isla running with the jokes. Yeah! And yet sometimes I think because of my delivery I get a few laughs in the film, but I’m not playing for laughs. It’s not like I’m in a studio comedy where I’m putting all my improvised jokes in. This was based on a play, and it gets very serious in parts. These are real quality actors in this! So I just try to play it quite genuinely. Theirs is a much different tone to your character; Becky is clearly aware a lot of the time that these girlfriends of hers are real bitches and kind of terrible. They are mean to her, sometimes! But she’s the fourth wheel in a group of four girls, so she does think they’re cooler than her and wants to hang out with them. But at the point of the movie where the movie starts, she’s got this amazing fiancé and she’s going to have a really good life, and those girls who were probably way cooler than her in high school, the tables have turned — little Becky is now on top of the heap! The mean girls get a comeuppance. Yeah — I always think in real life, eventually they do. If you are really mean and super bitchy eventually that’s going to come back to haunt you. It’s tempting to juxtapose your work in Bachelorette with your performance in Bridesmaids . Two wedding movies! I was actually in another wedding movie, called A Few Best Men , that comes out in the U.K. this month. With Xavier Samuel, of Twilight fame. Yeah, of Twilight fame! He’s very cute, and a really nice guy. And Olivia Newton-John played my mother! In that one I played the sister of the bride. But in Bridesmaids I had nothing to do with the wedding. I was really curious — I think I only had four scenes in Bridesmaids and I was wondering if that would be enough to make an impact. I remember Jonah Hill was in one scene in 40-Year-Old Virgin , and that was enough for people to go, “Oh my god, who is that guy, he’s super hilarious!” But people adored [ Bridesmaids ] because it was so great and I booked five movies straight off the back of that as soon as it came out. That was the first time I ever saw you and I remember watching your scenes thinking, is this girl for real? So clearly it was an effective turn. [Laughs] That’s what happened in Australia! My very first character I was famous for was this Greek drug-dealing gangster girl, and people thought I was that girl. People were scared that there was a girl like that out on the streets! I try to play things convincingly, so I tried to be the British girl that was really annoying and a bit psycho, and try to annoy Kristen Wiig. What was your experience working in Bachelorette with folks like Kirsten, who’s not necessarily known for comedy? I mean, Bring It On was hilarious. Oh my god, I stand corrected. Bring It On was hilarious. Have you seen the musical? I was going to go with Kiki [Kirsten Dunst] to see Bring It On: The Musical , but she was busy. I bought tickets and everything, but my sister went instead. I didn’t get to go because I said if Kiki’s not going, I’m not going. I think that is the way to see Bring It On: The Musical — sitting next to Kirsten Dunst. Yes! I called up and bought the tickets and said to the guy, “It’s actually for me and for an actress, Kirsten Dunst… who was in the original Bring It On . We are coming to see the musical.” And he’s like, “She’s not in the musical. She was in the movie.” I’m like, yeah, I know. I was trying to say this is a big deal, you’ve got the original Torrance coming into this show, but it backfired. [Laughs] Was it tempting as a Bring It On fan to quote that movie constantly to Kirsten on set? I harassed her every day. I was like, “Remember when you did this bit, and that bit…” and I asked her all the questions. I’m fascinated by that movie, I just thought it was so good. I don’t watch many movies twice because I have a really good memory so to watch movies again is really boring to me, but Bring It On I’ve seen five or six times and I just love it. One time I was walking in Los Feliz and I saw the girl who plays Missy, Eliza [Dushku], and I didn’t know what to say! I was like, oh my god, what do I do? I should have gone up to her and said, “Remember that bit where you were auditioning for the Toros and they didn’t think you were good and you did the backflips?” [Laughs] I’m the biggest dork.

One Direction Defends Naked Prince Harry: Give Him a Break!

The Royal family may be unhappy with Prince Harry these days, but the hottest boy band on the planet has no problem with the antics of their fellow handsome Brit. Asked by E! News about the naked Prince Harry photos that cropped up a couple weeks ago, members of One Direction stood firmly erect in the young man’s corner. Louis Tomlinson said the incident actually makes Harry a “strong figure because he’s real,” while Niall Horan kept his viewpoint simple: “He’s a 20-odd year-old guy doing what he wants.” Of course, Liam Payne recognized that Prince Harry is not just any 20-odd year-old guy. “A lot of people would have gone away on holiday and whatever, it doesn’t matter for them. For him, it matters,” said Payne. The hullabaloo over the nude pictures appears to be close to blowing over, although Carrie Reichert recently spoke out and extended the story when she spilled details from the night in question. Still, at the end of the day, Harry is young, handsome and single. Until Pippa Milddleton comes to her senses and dates the guy, can you blame him for having a bit of fun?

5 To Watch From Telluride: Marion Cotillard, Argo, Bill Murray, A Royal Affair & Amour

Ben Affleck ‘s look at a hidden story from the Iranian hostage crisis, Bill Murray as FDR,  Marion Cotillard playing a woman whose life is dramatically altered in an instant, as well as a pair of acclaimed foreign language films are just a few of the most buzzed about movies coming out of this year’s Telluride Film Festival . Over the course of just four days here in this Colorado mountain town, attendees got a head start peek at some of the best movies of the year. Films and performance that will have moviegoers talking this fall. Marion Cotillard Saturday night here in Telluride, French actress Marion Cotillard sat at a small dinner alongside director James Gray. Directors Alexander Payne and Sally Potter were among those wishing her well at the intimate gathering after her on stage tribute. Cotillard is starring in Gray’s upcoming movie, Nightingale and Gray was here in Colorado to salute her on stage as she received a festival tribute. While the night included a five minute clip from Nightingale , the Cotillard movie that had festival goers buzzing was Jacques Audiard’s Rust and Bone . Marion Cotillard, Photo by Eugene Hernandez Set on a grittier side of the South of France than is typically pictured in the gossip magazines, Audiard’s Rust and Bone is the story of an animal trainer at the local Marineland who fights back from a dramatic setback. It would be an unfair spoiler to detail the nature of Cotillard’s character’s devastating journey but it’s safe to say that as she comes to grips with her future she also finds love in an unexpected place.  Cotillard’s performance has been hailed since the film’s debut at the Cannes Film Festival earlier this year and there’s little doubt that the Oscar winner will be high atop year end lists of the best performances of the year. While it’s rare for an acting Academy Award to go to a lead in a foreign film, Cotillard already broke that barrier, winning the award for Ma Vie En Rose in five years ago. Rust and Bone opens in theaters on November 16th. Bill Murray While the best acting category will surely have some big names all vying for attention, the Telluride festival also showcased a male actor sure to turn heads. Comic legend Bill Murray plays it pretty serious in Roger Michell’s latest, Hyde Park on Hudson . He was a surprise attendee here in Telluride, walking on stage to cheers as he introduced Saturday’s screening of the 20th Century American historical drama. FDR had secrets, Michell’s film reiterates. The beloved U.S president who got the country through the Great Depression and took it into World War II was able to keep his paralysis from polio hidden from the American public. Even more buried at the time were the details of his apparent romances with numerous women, including a distant cousin near his rural upstate New York home. Uniquely, Bill Murray on Saturday compared playing FDR to performing at Carnegie Hall and cleaning out his garage. Things he never imagined doing in his life. However he said he wasn’t against giving it a shot. “I knew it would be hard,” Murray explained but added, “If I worked really hard and really tried I’d get something out of it.” In the film, scheduled to open in theaters in early December, Murray’s FDR navigates his private relationships even as his wife Eleanor tends to her own quiet affairs and his relationship with distant relative Daisy (Laura Linney) coincides with a weekend state visit by the King of England seeking the American presidents’s help on the verge of war. A Royal Affair Marital indiscretions and a monarchy collide head on in another film seen by American audiences for the first time here in Telluride, Nikolaj Arcel’s A Royal Affair . Danish actor Mads Mikkelsen stars as an aide to a mentally unbalanced King. Along the way he and the young Queen of Denmark develop a forbidden relationship. Domestic audiences will remember Mikkelsen for his turn as a villain in the recent James Bond movie, Casino Royale . This weekend’s he was also an acting honoree at the Telluride Film Festival,  Mads Mikkelsen, Photo by Eugene Hernandez A Royal Affair depicts a scandal familiar to Scandinavians that doesn’t require that an audience have a detailed knowledge of European history to appreciate its universal themes. Nikolaj Arcel, writer of the original film version of Girl With the Dragon Tattoo , has created an engrossing  costume drama that follows Mikkelsen’s insightful doctor who betrays a mad king by taking up with his wife. It opens on November 9th. Mikkelsen also stars this year in Thomas Vinterberg’s The Hunt , a Cannes competition entry that also screened here in Colorado and for which Mikkelsen won the best actor prize at the French festival. Amour The big winner in Cannes this year, anchored by stunning lead performances from legendary  French actors Jean-Louis Trintignant and Emmanuelle Riva, had Telluride audiences buzzing all weekend. Extra festival showings were added to meet demand here. Delicately directed by Austrian Michael Haneke, Amour is an end of life love story set amidst a devoted couple’s battle to gracefully navigate the natural disintegration of their union.  Michael Haneke’s tender touch in this new movie surprised many who are fans of his films The White Ribbon , Cache , and Funny Games . Meanwhile those who were turned off by his previous work have been won over by this film. Witness the Cannes jury. President Nanni Moretti apparently wasn’t a Haneke fan but his group of jurors gave Haneke the best picture prize in Cannes. At the aforementioned dinner on Saturday night in Telluride, Cannes juror Alexander Payne was still praising the movie. Buzz this weekend was that it may just be a surprise contender for best picture when the Oscar nominations are announced. Amour opens in theaters on December 19th. Argo Speaking of golden statues, Ben Affleck’s Argo , is clearly an early awards season contender. Local attendees speculated that Paul Thomas Anderson’s The Master or Terrance Malick’s To The Wonder might get a sneak peek slot here but it was Argo that secured the sole surprise sneak preview in Telluride this weekend.  Ben Affleck, Photo copyright Pamela Gentile A suspense-filled look at a secret plot that rescued some of the Americans captured in Iran in 1979, Affleck’s Argo was immediately buzzed about as a viable Oscar contender. The plot involves a fictitious movie project that was created as the cover for a covert plot to free U.S. Embassy employees who secretly sought asylum in the Canadian Embassy in Tehran. Hollywood and the U.S. government quietly conspired to create the fake movie and successfully freed the would be hostages.  More than one high profile Academy member praised the film this weekend. They rejoiced in the positive portrayal of the movie business afforded by Affleck. At a festival that loves movies as much as Telluride, Affleck’s Argo was beloved. At the height of the film’s tense climax, the  Telluride audience burst into applause. Of course, it’s way too early to say — awards season is a marathon and this is just the first mile — but persistent talk throughout the weekend was that Argo is clear cut contender for an best picture nod. “This is one of the few festivals that really about seeing movies, rather than walking around and just talking about [them],” gushed Ben Affleck on stage this weekend here in Telluride. Argo will open on October 10th 3 More to Watch Three films that probably won’t see American screens until sometime next year were among the best that Telluride had to offer this year. Noah Baumbach’s Frances Ha starring Greta Gerwig as a Brooklyn twenty-something was a sheer joy to experience. Actress turned director Sarah Polley’s Stories We Tell , a surprising documentary about her family secrets, was a moving and powerful tribute to her parents. Finally, Gerard Barrett’s first feature, Pilgrim Hill , was a quietly powerful portrait of an Irish farmer that will resonate in this time of economic insecurity.  The Telluride Film Festival takes place August 31-September 3. The Real Housewives of New York City: Slutty Island

St. Barts becomes “Slutty Island” as The Real Housewives of New York City kick their girl’s vacation into high gear, but an extra guest changes everything.
