Nicki Minaj Deserves Best New Artist, Ludacris Says

Rapper also looks back on his own past Grammy wins and says he’s ‘coming right back at ’em soon.’ By Kelley L. Carter Nicki Minaj Photo: D. Dipasupil/FilmMagic Ludacris knows how good it feels to win a Grammy. The Atlanta-based rapper has three in his collection, and he’s hoping his eighth studio album, Ludaversal, brings him a few more. No release date has been set, but it’s expected sometime this year. Luda won his first Grammy for his collaboration with Usher for 2004’s contagious single “Yeah.” “Man, it was a great feeling. I’m happy to be working with Usher again on the Ludaversal album so we can come back and win yet another Grammy,” Luda told MTV News on Thursday. “My best Grammy experience was winning Best Rap Album for Release Therapy (which was released in 2006). I worked hard on that album specifically to win a Grammy, and I accomplished my goal. So no words can explain how great that felt. But we’re coming right back at ’em soon.” His pick for Sunday night is clear: He wants to see Nicki Minaj to win Best New Artist. He worked with the MC on 2010’s “My Chick Bad,” off his Battle of the Sexes album. “I’m looking forward to seeing Nicki Minaj. I love her. I’m glad I got a chance to work with her. I’m extremely proud of her,” he said. “She’s just scratching the surface of what she’s capable of. So Nicki: keep doing your thing, girl.” Should Nicki Minaj win Best New Artist? Grammys 2012 Odds Give Adele, Nicki Minaj An Edge

MTV News sought out experts (and the slightly uninformed) to get predictions for Sunday’s Grammy Awards. By James Montgomery Photo: Getty Images/ MTV News Ever since the nominees for the 54th Grammy Awards were announced late last year, we’ve asked everyone from Vegas-tested professionals to cubicle-dwelling amateurs to predict just who will take home the golden gramophones during Sunday’s big show. And basically, they keep telling us the same thing: Adele is just going to win everything. And they’re probably right. After all, her 21 album is an unstoppable juggernaut, selling more than 6 million copies in less than a year, spawning two massive singles and almost singlehandedly keeping the industry afloat during dour times. So, yeah, we feel pretty comfortable referring to her as “the favorite.” Still, it’s not as if Adele’s Grammy-night triumph is a sure thing (not entirely anyway): In three of the so-called “Big Four” categories — Album, Record and Song of the Year — she’ll face stiff challenges from the likes of Mumford & Sons, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry and Kanye West, to name just a few. In the other “Big Four” category (Best New Artist), she’s not nominated — mostly because she won it in 2009. So with music’s biggest night just around the corner, here’s a refresher on just who our expert oddsmakers — and resident awards-show expert (uh, me ) picked to win at the 54th Grammys: Record of the Year Not surprisingly, the U.K.-based oddsmakers at Ladbrokes like Adele’s “Rolling in the Deep” here, installing it as the favorite at 2/1 odds. Mumford & Sons’ “The Cave” was next, at 9/4 odds, followed by Bruno Mars’ “Grenade” at 4/1. I decided to go out on a limb and predict Bon Iver’s “Holocene” would build on Arcade Fire’s unlikely Album of the Year win at last year’s Grammys and shock everyone by winning ROTY. Who’s right? Well, probably the pros, but we’ll just have to wait until Sunday to know for sure. Song of the Year Ladbrokes once again goes for Adele, giving “Rolling in the Deep” 1/1 odds to win. Kanye West’s “All of the Lights” is next at 2/1, followed by Mumford & Sons’ “The Cave” at 5/1. Me? I’m taking “Deep” too — mostly because it was the year’s biggest track, and one look back at previous SOTY winners (“Rehab,” “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It),” etc.) shows you which way this category tends to go. Album of the Year Ladbrokes has Adele’s 21 as the slight favorite here, giving the disc 11/8 odds. Close behind are Bruno Mars’ Doo Wops & Hooligans and the Foo Fighters’ Wasting Light, each of whom got 3/1 odds. I also picked 21 to win, but unlike the betting Brits, I didn’t think this one would even be close. Best New Artist Absent of Adele, BNA may very well be the night’s most-competitive category. Ladbrokes certainly seems to agree with that sentiment, as they’ve installed Nicki Minaj as the slight favorite (6/4 odds), but also kept the Band Perry (9/4), Bon Iver (4/1) and J. Cole (5/1) within striking distance. As for me, I took Minaj too, though I’m not sure how confident I feel about it now. I could certainly see the Band Perry winning instead, though my gut tells me that perhaps it’ll be Bon Iver who takes this one home — we’ll just have to wait until Sunday to see. Chaos! Profanity! Kanye West Isn’t Only Grammy Album Of The Year Snub

Rapper’s critically acclaimed My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy didn’t make the cut for Sunday’s top prize, and it’s in good company. By Gil Kaufman Kanye West Photo: Getty Images One of the favorite parlor games the morning after the Grammy Awards is the predictable bellyaching about which artists got robbed during the big show. And the category that typically draws the most Monday-morning quarterbacking is the biggest one of the night: Album of the Year. Long before the 54th annual ceremony Sunday night, the drumbeat had already begun about an album that failed to make the list despite its wide critical acclaim and deep musicality. Though he’s the leading nominee at this year’s ceremony with seven nods, Kanye West’s career-defining My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy failed to make the cut for the night’s top prize. Take a closer look at this year’s Grammy nominees through photos! Hip-hop heads grumbled that it was a continuation of the Recording Academy’s inability to think outside the mainstream box when awarding a hip-hop album with its highest honor. While Lauryn Hill and Outkast have won in the past, the denial of West’s richly textured, musically adventurous album puts him in pretty good company when it comes to landmark works that either never got a nomination for the award or failed to close the deal. Among the other (in)famous Grammy Album of the Year snubs: 1992 : If any album over the past 20-plus years could be said to completely define its era — not to mention igniting a complete reordering of the musical world — it was Nirvana’s Nevermind. Released in time to be considered at the 1992 Grammys, the landmark album wasn’t even nominated in a year when the winner was Natalie Cole’s Unforgettable … With Love tribute to her late father. Instead of honoring Nirvana, Grammy voters nominated Christian lightweight Amy Grant, Bonnie Raitt, R.E.M. and Paul Simon. Among the other important works that didn’t even make the list: Guns N’ Roses’ ambitious Use Your Illusion double album set, Ten by Pearl Jam and Achtung Baby by U2. 2001 : In one of the all-time Grammy head-scratchers, that year’s honors went to the first album in 20 years from studio-rat duo Steely Dan, Two Against Nature. The pick was especially galling for rock and rap fans, as it meant that another career-pinnacle work, Radiohead’s twisty Kid A and Eminem’s massive The Marshall Mathers LP, had to settle just for being nominated. 2008 : In a year when West garnered his third Album of the Year nod, the Grammys went old-school again, shocking the world by giving the award to veteran jazzman Herbie Hancock’s 47th studio album, the Joni Mitchell tribute River: The Joni Letters. What albums were passed over in the process? Oh, nothing major, just Amy Winehouse’s hugely influential smash breakthrough Back to Black and West’s Graduation. 2009 : The Academy had another chance to make it up to the hip-hop world the following year when Lil Wayne’s massive Tha Carter III was up for the big one. And even though Radiohead’s In Rainbows and Coldplay’s Viva la Vida, or Death and All His Friends were solid contenders, the prize once again went to a lesser-heard disc by a veteran, Raising Sand, a folky collaboration between former Led Zeppelin singer Robert Plant and bluegrass star Alison Krauss. Dear Bossip: When I Try To Leave My Boyfriend He Threatens To Release The Explicit Video & Pics He Has Of Me

Dear Bossip , When I was 18-years old I met this 25 about to be 26-year old at a party. We started talking. He made me his girlfriend. Been around his kids and family. I used to ditch school to see him. I was in love with him and accepted the fact that he had kids. Three months in and for 3months I told him I wanted to marry him and have a life with him. He pushed it off. My mom wasn’t in approval and I kept seeing him behind her back. We had each others yahoo, Facebook, Twitter, AIM, home phone, address, cell, and OVOO.  We always stayed in contact which made it harder to leave, but it would be the downfall to our relationship because I ended up seeing pictures and comments I wasn’t supposed to. I figured if he cheating then I might as well I do it too, but my naive mind figured if I tell him all I’m doing and with who, then I wouldn’t be cheating. I started talking to other guys with no intentions of sleeping with them, I just wanted the attention that I couldn’t get from my boyfriend because at the time my mom didn’t know I was still seeing him. So, it went from lying about going to hang out with so-and-so to be with my boyfriend, to actually meeting real life so-and-so and seeing less of my boyfriend. I asked many times for a break for me to figure out what I really wanted, but he rejected and refused. He secretly went thru my phone twice. He saw some texts he wasn’t supposed to see. Once, during the ups of our relationship I agreed to do a tape and naughty pics for him to let him know that I still loved him and he was the only one I was with sexually. Huge mistake because something I did out of love would be the thing that would hurt me the most. How you ask? Every time after when I would ask for a break to meet a new guy friend or in his eyes cheat, or he gets really mad, he would threaten to leak the video and post the pics around my apartment building. Now, 2 years later, I was assaulted and he was there for me. He says he loves me, but gets mad and threatens to post the video. I’ve tried leaving many times, but he used that to get me back. I don’t know what to do. I really don’t want the tapes or pics to leak and I’m tired of feeling trapped to him. Help me! – Trapped And Confined Dear Ms. Trapped And Confined , First of all, your fast ass was 18 years old dealing with a 26 year old. That is a problem. You have nothing in common. He is too old for your ass. And, you needed to stay in your lane, especially since you stated that you were ditching school to be with him. I wish I was your parent and I found out that you were ditching school, I would have ditched my foot right up your ass. But, hold up, Ms. Thang, after three months your hot in the pants fast ass was talking about marrying him and having a life with him? What the hell!?! What did you possibly know about him in three months to give you any idea that he was the man for you, especially considering he already had kids, which means he has more than one, possibly more than two kids? And, I’m certain he has more than one baby momma. So, therefore, your wretched ass didn’t even give any type of consideration or thought to the fact that if he is not with his kids mother’s, then why would he want to be with you? Your mother should have snatched a bone out of your neck and beat the hell out of you with it! That’s what your generation is missing – A strong family support system with Big Momma and ‘em, and using a switch on your narrow asses to beat the hell out of you. You better be glad you didn’t grow up like I did where my momma, daddy, uncles, aunts, and whoever else in the neighborhood had the authority to whoop that ass, and use extension cords to tear that ass up! But, let me address this damn madness your ass have gotten yourself into by making a naughty video and sending naked pictures to this trifling ass man. UGH! I wish I could just shake the –ish out of you and knock some damn sense in your head. Ole basic ass! As a matter of fact, ladies and gentlemen, let this be a lesson to all of you out there – Never, never, ever make a naughty video, and send explicit photos to anyone over the internet, or via cell phones because you will end up in a situation just like Ms. Basic Ass who wrote this letter. Please know that whomever you’re in a relationship with that one day it will end. One day it will be over. And, it may end horrible, nasty, and bitter. And, guess what? They have the videos and naked pics of you that they can leak over the internet or share with their friends. You don’t EVER want to give someone ammunition to hold over you and keep you hostage or at their will because your freaky nasty hoe-ish ass wants to act like a stripper or some amateur porn star. And, none of you are Heather Hunter, Tera Patrick, Jenaveve Jolie, Havana Ginger, or Roxy Reynolds. So, please, please, please stop posting those unattractive, explicit photos posing in your dirty panties and bras in your whack ass bathroom shots with spots on your mirrors, and your toiletries on the counter. It’s not cute! But, y’all are going to learn about taking nasty pics and videos and sending them to the ‘so-called’ love of your life. Dumbasses! Listen, I hate that you’re in this situation, but maybe this will teach your basic ass a lesson. Maybe this will be a teachable moment about dealing with gutter and street dudes who ain’t got –ish and won’t be –ish. And, just so that you’ll know this moving forward, IF YOU FEEL YOU HAVE TO PROVE YOUR LOVE TO ANYONE, THEN THEY DON’T LOVE YOU. LOVE IS NOT ABOUT PROVING ANYTHING. IT’S NOT ABOUT CONVINCING SOMEONE WHO IS INSECURE OR JEALOUS THAT YOU’RE WILLING TO DO SOMETHING DETRIMENTAL TO YOUR OWN SELF AND WELL-BEING TO MAKE THEM FEEL SECURE AND COMFORTABLE WITHIN THE RELATIONSHIP. WHEN YOU FIND YOURSELF AT THE POINT, STOP, TAKE A MOMENT, AND GATHER YOUR THINGS AND BOUNCE! Unfortunately, there is nothing you can about him having the video and pics. You sent them to him. You tried being nice, and thought you would walk away and that’ll be that. Uhm, WRONG! He has them in his possession, and just like the bish ass he is, he’s trying to manipulate you into staying with him, and use them as his negotiating power. SMDH! Young lady, I hope you’ll never do this again, and if you ever meet someone new and feel the urge to do some bull-ish like this again, please call me. Please, please, please let me know so I can personally snatch that auburn dyed lacefront off your head and smack you upside your bald ass skull! Now, if I were you, and you’re not me, and I’m not suggesting that you do this, but I’m just saying that if I WERE YOU AND IF I WAS IN YOUR SITUATION, THEN WHAT I WOULD DO, I would get his ass pissy drunk one night. Plan a special evening and make sure he drinks and drinks and drinks until he is totally inebriated. Then, when he passes out, pull off all his clothes, and get him buck naked. I would take videos, and pics of him laid and sprawled out with his nuts and penis in plain sight, along with is face. I would also get my “special toy” and place it strategically near his mouth and spread his legs and place it near his ass. Hell, I would even get him awake long enough to think he’s getting some and capture him getting excited and ready, and I would video tape it all. Trust me, he’ll be too drunk to know what’s going on. AND, THEN I WOULD MAKE MULTIPLE COPIES OF EVERYTHING! Then, the next day as I’m telling him that the relationship is over and he wants to get big and bad and say he will release the video and pics he has, I would double over in laughter and dare him to do it. Then, I’d pull up all the pics and video of him from the night before. BOOM! BAM! POW! You wanna rumble with the bee, huh? Kylie Bisutti, Victoria’s Secret Model, Quits Career to Honor God, Save Body For Husband

Lucky Guy(s). Kylie Bisutti, a Victoria’s Secret lingerie model, recently quit that job because it conflicted with her hardcore Christian beliefs, and to save her body for her husband. She will still model, but only in ways that honor the Lord. Bisutti, 21, appeared on Good Morning America on Thursday to discuss her decision, why she decided to quit, and how her husband Mike Bisutti feels about it … Kylie Bisutti Interview on Good Morning America “Growing in my relationship with the Lord and my faith… I just became so convicted about wanting to honor my husband with my body and wanting to be a role model for younger women out there that look up to me,” Kylie explained. In 2009, then-19-year-old and newly married Kylie beat out 10,000 other hopefuls in a Victoria’s Secret model search saying: “I have a very sweet personality, but don’t let that exterior fool you. I want this, and I’ll do what it takes to get it.” But Kylie said she had an epiphany one day, and not a good one. With her 8-year-old cousin admiring her physique, she recalls, “I was doing my makeup in the mirror one day and she was watching me… She just looked at me and she was like, ‘I think I want to stop eating so I can look like you.'” “And it just broke my heart, because she looks up to me.” “I didn’t want to be that type of person that she thought she had to do that. Thousands of girls that think beauty is an outer issue, and really it’s a heart issue.” How did her husband feel about this career move? “He was so, so supportive of me and I’m just so thankful that he let me grow and let me come to this decision on my own,” she said, noting that he’s very happy. “I’m definitely going to pursue modeling,” she said. “I just want to be more wholesome and the jobs that I choose are always going to be honoring the Lord.” Guys everywhere just lost out big time, but you gotta respect the girl for putting her convictions ahead of superficiality, money and fame, right? What do you think of Kylie’s decision?

Did George Huguely Murder Yeardley Love?

Former University of Virginia lacrosse player George Huguely is on trial for murdering his ex-girlfriend, Yeardley Love, in a case that has garnered national attention. His first-degree murder trial included dramatic testimony Wednesday in Charlottesville, Virginia, from Love’s two roommates, serving as witnesses for the prosecution. The saga is People’s cover story this week. What makes it so noteworthy? The element of mystery surrounding the case, for one, and the fact that the accused is a Division I lacrosse star – who professes his innocence. Caity Whiteley, who lived with Love and was on the lacrosse team with her, described returning to Love’s apartment to ask her to go out with them. With Yeardley Love, 22, face down in bed, just as Whiteley had last seen her, nothing appeared to be out of the ordinary, at least at first. “Her hair was all messed up and pulled aside,” Whiteley said, according to Charlottesville’s Daily Progress . “I moved her hair, and then that’s when I noticed.” “There were cuts on her face, and it was just messed up.” Whiteley also testified that Love’s body was warm but that her feet were cold at the time. On Thursday, when graphic photos of Love’s lifeless body were shown in court, her family sobbed, while George Huguely, 23, kept his head down. Whiteley said that in the months before Love’s death her already on-again-off-again relationship with Huguely, had become even “more rocky than usual.” Huguely reportedly was observed choking Love during a party. Love and Whiteley’s other roommate, Kaitlin Duff, said oLove had become “very upset” in late April after she learned Huguely was with another woman. Another witness was Anna Lehman, who lived in the apartment below Love. Describing a loud noise she heard from the floor above shortly before midnight, Lehman testified, “I thought that maybe like a stereo set had fallen, or a bookshelf.” Right after that she saw a dark-haired man in a royal blue T-shirt leaving Love’s apartment. She described him as looking “like a male student.” The defense reportedly does not dispute that Huguely was in the apartment that night. In opening statements Wednesday, Huguely’s lawyer said his client was very drunk the night Love died and was incapable of plotting to kill her. Huguely has pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder, robbery, burglary, breaking and entering, grand larceny and murder in the commission of a felony. According to an affidavit, Huguely admitted that he kicked in Love’s door and shook her, repeatedly hitting her head against a wall, back in May 2010. Huguely’s attorney Francis Lawrence told reporters, “We are confident that Ms. Love’s death was not intended but an accident with a tragic outcome.” Reports say that prosecutors said in court Wednesday that two days before Love’s death, Huguely accused her of having another relationship. Prosecutor Dave Chapman told jurors Huguely assaulted Love and wrote to her saying he was upset because she had slept with someone else. According to prosecutors, Huguely sent angry e-mails to Love, including one that said, “I should kill you.” When it came time for Huguely’s attorney Lawrence to address jurors, he reportedly relayed the rest of the e-mail’s message: “I should have killed you. You should’ve killed me. You’re so [expletive] up. Prosecutors also outlined Huguely’s pattern of violence against Love and said he intended to kill her and steal her laptop to destroy evidence.

J. Cole’s Grind Earns Him Best New Artist Grammy Nod

Coveted nomination follows #1 debut album, Cole World: The Sideline Story, and a string of well-received mixtapes. By Nadeska Alexis J. Cole Photo: C. Flanigan/FilmMagic It’s been a long road to release for J. Cole, who finally dropped his debut album, Cole World: The Sideline Story, in September after putting out several mixtapes. Now, the Roc Nation signee is seeing his hard work pay off with a nomination for Best New Artist at the 2012 Grammy Awards . Cole World debuted at #1 in September and has sold more than 500,000 copies to date, making it an impressive freshman LP for a rapper. Make no mistake, though, Jermaine Cole’s success has been a long time in the making. After dropping his mixtape The Come Up in 2007, the North Carolina native polished his craft and released The Warm Up two years later, catching the ear of Jay-Z — specifically with the hit single “Lights Please” — and landing himself a record deal at Roc Nation. Even with Hov as his mentor, however, Jermaine continued to push things along with his own solo efforts. His debut album was hit with a series of delays and he made up for the wait by releasing his late 2010 mixtape Friday Night Lights. Between his tapes and a few free-floating singles he’d recorded over the years, Cole had enough material to warrant an opening spot on Rihanna’s Loud Tour in June. When that wrapped, Cole kicked off his Any Given Sunday series in the summer of 2011, which found him releasing new tracks or EPs weekly, leading right into the debut of his first studio album. That persistent grind resulted in noteworthy album sales and a Grammy nomination, which Jay-Z said is well-deserved . “I think it’s great for him, because I’m sure it’s a dream of his. We grew up seeing Michael Jackson, and I’m sure he grew up seeing whatever moment stuck in his mind, so I know it’s great for him to do that,” Hov told MTV News. “I think he’s already won Best New Artist, to me. His journey is what I’m really excited about.” Tune into the Grammys on Sunday on CBS at 8 p.m. ET to see if Cole takes home the award for Best New Artist. His competitors in the category are Nicki Minaj, Skrillex, Bon Iver and the Band Perry. Chaos! Profanity! Wardrobe malfunctions! Adele’s 21 Poised For Album Of The Year Grammy

‘Rolling in the Deep’ helped propel U.K. singer’s chart-smashing album. By John Mitchell Adele Photo: Getty Images Adele ‘s 21 has owned the albums charts since its late-February 2011 release and it continues to dominate, tallying 18 non-consecutive weeks at #1, more than any album since Garth Brooks’ 1991 smash Ropin’ the Wind and just a few weeks shy of tying the 20-week record set by “The Bodyguard” soundtrack and Elvis Presley’s Blue Hawaii . It’s fitting that the much-acclaimed mega-selling set heads into Sunday’s Grammy Awards as the odds-on favorite to score one of the night’s biggest trophies: Album of the Year. The bulk of the songs on 21 were inspired by Adele’s failed relationship with a man 10 years her senior. Following the success of her moody, ballad-heavy debut, 2008’s award-winning 19 , the singer sought to make a more-upbeat and contemporary-sounding record. Sessions for the set fell apart, however, resulting in only one completed track, “Take It All.” The song was written after a fight with her boyfriend, and when Adele played him the song, it instigated a heated argument that ended their relationship. Heartbroken but musically reinvigorated, Adele immediately hit the studio and began channeling her heartbreak into lyrics, pouring her feelings into songs that tackled her failed relationship from a variety of angles. To help her carve out the album’s sound, she assembled a top-notch team of veteran producers, including OneRepublic frontman Ryan Tedder (who has helmed tracks for Beyonc

The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Reunion Recap, Part II: Let the Brandi Glanville Bashing Begin!

After last week’s Part I , The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Reunion show continued with more drama last night as Brandi and Taylor join us for the full hour. Let’s recap it all with THG’s +/- review! Last week they took shots at Lisa but now it’s time for Brandi Glanville bashing. We like Brandi. Yes, she’s brash but she’s also fun, entertaining, and says what she thinks to someone’s face instead of behind their back. There’s a concept. No wonder she doesn’t quite fit in with the Beverly Hills crowd. Plus 20 . Brandi hit the scene this season with high heels, no bra, and even on crutches she had legs that wouldn’t quit. So being younger and prettier meant that she immediately made enemies and it was wonderful entertainment. Plus 10 . So Andy takes us back to Game Night where Kim and Kyle’s mean sides came out and Brandi called Kyle a bitch and threatened to kill Kim. Ah, good times. At least Kyle’s owning her mean girl title that night so Plus 8 . Even Lisa admits she was mortified when she saw the actual footage. She backed Kyle but hadn’t known how she acted.
