Woman Charged For Allegedly Administering Illegal Butt Injections The death of a popular transgender Atlanta drag queen is being investigated and someone believed to be in connection has been arrested. Florida police took 46-year-old Deanna Roberts into custody after performer Lateasha Shuntel real name Lateasha Hull, died from complications following a black market butt job. WFTV reports: A Sanford woman was arrested Tuesday on charges related to the use of silicone injections for cosmetic reasons. Residents on 20th Street in Sanford saw federal agents raid 46-year-old Deanna Roberts’ home. Investigators said Roberts injected someone in the buttocks last November in North Georgia. The victim, identified only by the initials L.H., died, and investigators said, “the death of L.H. resulted from the use of the liquid silicone obtained by the defendant.” Two days after the alleged injection, a popular Atlanta drag performer with the stage name Lateasha Shuntel died, and there was talk that the death was related to silicone injections. Shuntel’s death made headlines in the Atlanta area. Her real name was Lateasha Hall, and on the day of the alleged injections, the victim tagged Roberts in a Facebook post, saying, “I don’t think my (expletive) will ever stop hurting, but I have no doubt you are the best in the business.” Prosecutors said that beginning in 2004, Roberts started buying liquid silicone from an Arizona company called Factor II. They said she bought 178 gallons over the past 11 years and frequently traveled to inject people with the silicone. She is facing criminal charges because the silicone she was using isn’t approved by the FDA for use on humans. SMH…these injections just aren’t worth it ladies, don’t do it! WSBTV

Young Black Americans Are LEAST Likely To Vote A new study shows that young African Americans are not finding their way to the ballot box according to Washington Post : African Americans account for a larger share of Democratic primary voters this year than they did in 2008, but that is because of older black voters, not higher participation by younger black people. Across two dozen states where exit polls were conducted in 2008 and this year, black voters older than 45 grew from 12 percent of the electorate on average in 2008 to 16 percent this year. In those same states, black voters younger than 45 made up 11 percent of voters in 2008 vs. 10 percent this year. Democratic candidates and strategists have stressed the importance this year of all young voters, who heavily favored Obama in both of his election contests — and Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont in this year’s Democratic primaries. But younger Americans are the least likely to turn out in elections: The share of eligible voters ages 18 to 29 who cast ballots fell from a record high of 48 percent in 2008 to 41 percent in the 2012 presidential election, according to the U.S. Elections Project. Fredrick Harris, a political science professor and director of the Institute for Research in African American Studies at Columbia University, said the success of the Black Lives Matter movement should not be measured only by voter turnout or candidate preference. It has succeeded at doing what no other black leaders have done, especially those who have lined up to endorse either Sanders or Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton. “Voting is definitely one way, and I wouldn’t insult my ancestors by telling people they shouldn’t vote, but there are other ways of reimagining and restructuring the world, and that lies in organizing our communities,” said Ashley Williams, a 23-year-old activist who attends the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Over the past few months, there have been countless reports that Kylie Jenner and Tyga are no longer a couple . Sometimes the rumors seemed credible. Basically, they’ve become the Couple That Cried Wolf, and we’ve stopped paying attention to the incessant breakup gossip. Or at least we had until this past weekend, when a new round of speculation began, this time possibly confirmed by the ultimate insider. The murmurs started on Friday, when several outlets reported that Kylie and Tyga hadn’t made a public appearance together – or even showed up on one another’s social media pages – in quite some time. On Sunday, Kris Jenner drove the point home with a Mother’s Day Instagram post that raised many an eyebrow: ” I love you so much Kanye, Scott and Lamar!! To my son Lammy, I am so thankful for your strength through adversity and your sweet gentle spirit. Ever since Harry Styles first hit the scene with One Direction, he’s been known as “the one with the hair.” His debut ‘do was this floppy, mussy, kinda cah-razy mop that went in all directions, but he and his adorable baby face somehow pulled it off. Remember this? In recent years, he grew out his tresses, and it was getting pretty Rapunzel-like for a minute there. But it’s all gone now. Or, at least, a good portion of it. Entire Family Diagnosed With Cancer A North Carolina family has somehow managed to stay strong and positive through each member facing cancer diagnoses and harsh treatments over the past 17 years. Through dating, marriage and eventual adoption , it seems that the disease has followed the family every step of their lives together. Via People : If it weren’t true, it would be unbelievable. Three family members – a mother, father and their son – all diagnosed with cancer. Jay Siltzer is the morning anchor at WLOS-TV, the ABC affiliate in Asheville, North Carolina. The 48-year-old was first diagnosed with testicular cancer in January 1999. He had surgery and radiation and was doing well until the cancer came back and wrapped around his spine. This time, doctors were less sure of his prognosis. Again, he had surgery and radiation. He also had chemotherapy treatments. Siltzer, who was treated by Lance Armstrong’s doctor, was warned that it would be probably be tough for him to have children. The possibility that he couldn’t have kids worried him, but he didn’t dwell on it. He’d only been dating his then girlfriend, Kelly, a few months. The couple married in 2000 and life was good – for awhile. They tried desperately to have kids. “We hit a wall at every turn,” Siltzer says. Five years later, they met and fell in love with Malachi, the little boy they would adopt from Ethiopia. Everything was happy for the new family for some time — until Kelly was stricken with a rare form of luekemia in 2011. Unfortunately after a three-year battle of surgeries and radiation, Kelly passed away in 2014, leaving Jay a single father to Malachi. But then, news got even worse for the family. In another cruel twist of fate, just as the father and son were adjusting to a new normal, Malachi woke up last November with a headache. An MRI showed it was a grade-three brain tumor – a large mass on the left side of the little boy’s brain. Malachi has had two brain surgeries to remove the tumor, radiation and ongoing weekly chemo treatments. His speech is slowly coming back, but he still hasn’t learned to read again. When asked about the incredible fact that all three family members were diagnosed with cancer, he says, “I don’t let myself go there, that would be a dark place. I suppose I could ask, ‘Why me?’ but the answer is ‘Why not?’ I’m a person of faith, and I trust good will come from this.” WOW. If you thought Kylie Jenner was growing up too fast, just wait till you see her nieces North West and Penelope Disick. The two toddlers are now rocking hair extensions in the form of long, cornrow braids, and the internet isn’t happy. Kim Kardashian posted the photo above of her two-year-old daughter North to Snapchat, and fans pummeled social media with criticism, deeming the new ‘do inappropriate for a child so young. “Why would you ever put fake hair on a child?” wrote one Instagram user. “North West has hair extensions? Do what you want as a mom, but 2 years old and already being taught that natural isn’t good enough?” another critic chimed in on Twitter. Meanwhile, Khloe Kardashian shared this pic of herself twinning with three-year-old Penelope: “I made her my mini-me,” Khloe wrote in the caption. However, her original caption read, “Native,” but it was later deleted and replaced. Penelope and Khloe’s braids, while also met with criticism over the tyke being too young for a weave, are considered by many to be cultural appropriation. On the flip side, many fans thought the kids looked adorable, so naturally, an all-out war broke out in the comment section of Instagram. Earlier this year, fans were up in arms over a photo of North West applying contour makeup to her face. Some felt it was harmless fun, but others were concerned that North might be adopting her mother’s superficial ways too soon.
