WATCH: Judd Nelson Sends Up The Breakfast Club in Bad Kids Go To Hell

School principal Judd Nelson sees his bratty charges as he wants to see them… in the simplest terms, in the most convenient definitions. Because they’re all cliches in the Breakfast Club genre-spoof Bad Kids Go to Hell , an indie film adaptation of Matthew Spradlin’s comic book/graphic novel. Watch the trailer for the horror comedy, which debuts at Comic-Con, after the jump, and decide if this kind of fast-talking self-awareness still seems fresh in a post- Detention world. That’s the biggest obstacle facing Bad Kids Go To Hell , if you ask me: Joseph Kahn has already traversed this ground, and with an unapologetically hopped-up, take no prisoners visual style and razor wit, in spring’s indie horror satire Detention . Like that film (which starred The Hunger Games ‘ Josh Hutcherson ), Bad Kids Go To Hell seems to take ’80s teen movies like The Breakfast Club and spins its tropes around in various post-modern ways, dropping pop culture references galore. Unlike Detention , however, Bad Kids seems pedestrian in comparison – but then almost any iteration of a teen movie spoof would seem that way, juxtaposed with Kahn’s ADD speed freak-out of a genre romp. Behold, the Bad Kids synopsis: Six private school high school kids find themselves stuck in detention on a frightfully dark and stormy Saturday afternoon. During their 8 hour incarceration, each of the six kids falls victim to a horrible “accident” until only one of them remains. And as each of these spoiled rich kids bites the dust, the story takes on a series of humorous and frantic twists and turns. Is one of the kids secretly evening the school’s social playing field? Or have the ghosts of prestigious Crestview Academy finally come to punish the school’s worst (and seemingly untouchable) brats? One thing is for sure…Daddy’s money can’t save them now. Bad Kids Go To Hell will have its North American premiere at Comic-Con this Friday, July 13th.

James Franco has tapped an Outfest filmmaker to make a ‘Homo-Sex-Art-Film.’ And rounding things out, casting news for a pair of projects. Drafthouse Films Picks Up The Ambassador The dark comic documentary that exposes the corrupt business of selling diplomatic titles to exploit lucrative and limited resources of war-torn third world countries has been picked up by Drafthouse Films, the film distribution label of the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema. The film by Mad Brugger ( Red Chapel ) was financed by filmmaker Lars von Trier’s production company Zentropa. Around the ‘net… Mickey Mouse and Winnie the Pooh Put on Show for N. Korean Leader Disney did not approve the characters that appeared in a concert attended by North Korea’s new 20-something leader Kim Jong-un at an official event last week. Mickey, Minnie, Pooh and Tigger made appearances and footage from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs and Dumbo played in the background. Western references in any North Korean event has been unheard of until now and had been strictly forbidden, ABC News reports . Wolverine Sets Japanese Cast Fox’s 2013 summer tentpole starring Hugh Jackman has set additional cast. The studio won’t discuss details but Japanese actors Hiroyiki Sanada ( The Last Samurai ), Hal Yamanouchi ( Sinbad of the Seas 0 and two newcomers Tao Okamoto and Rila Fukushima are set to star in the film. The story is based in Japan, Comingsoon.net reports . James Franco to Collaborate on a “Homo-Sex-Art-Film” The 127 Hours star is joining filmmaker Travis Mathews on a new project. He wrote on his website that that he received an email from Franco’s agent about possibly working together on a ‘homo-sex-art-film’ and that they soon got on the phone and a week later they were in pre-production. The filmmaker’s indie I Want Your Love played Outfest, Vulture reports . Keri Russell to Star in Thriller Dark Skies She will play the lead in the supernatural thriller, written and directed by Scott Stewart. The film has comparatively a modest budget than producers Blumhouse’s earlier Insidious and Paranormal Activity , Deadline reports . Brie Larson Boards Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s Don Jon’s Addiction The 21 Jump Street and Rampart star has joined the project which will be Gordon-Levitt’s directorial debut. He will star as a porn-addict trying to be a better person after meeting a widowed older woman, played by Julianne Moore.. Larson will play his sister, Variety reports .

As expected, The Amazing Spider-Man spun up impressive numbers over the Friday – Saturday weekend, adding to its totals since rolling out in the U.S. on Tuesday ahead of the Fourth of July holiday. The film topped the overall box office and had one of the largest per screen averages in release, though the top PSA went to specialty release Beasts of the Southern Wild in its second weekend, though its screen count is still very limited. Last weekend’s number one Ted held steady in second place on the b.o. rankings, while Brave and Savages came in third and fourth respectively. 1. The Amazing Spider-Man (3-D) Gross: $65 million (Cume: $140 million) Screens: 4,318 (PSA: $15,053) Week: 1 Worldwide, the latest Spidey pic has grossed $341.2 million. It has picked up $14.3 million from 307 IMAX theaters, about 10% of its North American box office. Spider-Man had the biggest Tuesday launch ever, taking in $35 million its first day. 2. North Korea Seeks Image Makeover; Kim Jong Un to Permit Earrings, Cellphones, Pizza

Seeking an image makeover for himself and his impoverished, rogue nation, North Korea’s youthful supreme leader is implementing some new social policies. Among them: Allowing women to wear pants, platform shoes and earrings, making mobile phones available, and endorsing previously banned foods like pizza. Kim Jong Un, 28, who took over after the death of Kim Jong Il last year, is also giving kids free trips to zoos and amusement parks. What a guy, right? Following in the footsteps of his late grandfather, the country’s founder Kim Il Sung, he has announced plans to create a “children’s heaven nation.” “It’s part of his plan to imitate a warm, fatherly impression ,” said Dong Yong-Sueng, North Korea specialist at Samsung Economic Research Institute. Kim Jong Un clearly wants to establish an image that harkens back to what some North Koreans nostalgically remember as better times in the 1970s. Under his grandfather, the country’s founder Kim Il Sung, the country was economically backed by the USSR and had sufficient food to feed the nation. Kim Jong Il, by contrast, was seen as a strong but cold leader. His reign, which began in 1994, was marked by escalating conflict and soaring poverty. The image of the leader has significance in a tightly controlled society, and Kim Jong Un has sought to embrace the youthful energy of the country. Whether cellphones and pizza accomplish that remains to be seen.

American Student Doing Research At Jane Goodall Institute In Critical Condition After Chimpanzee Attack This man just learned a horrible lesson about wild animals : Chimpanzees at a sanctuary for the animals in eastern South Africa pulled an American working there into their enclosure, bit him severely and dragged him nearly a half mile (kilometer), according to a paramedic official and local media reports. The man was leading a tour group at the Jane Goodall Institute Chimpanzee Eden near Nelspruit, some 180 miles (300 kilometers) from Johannesburg, Thursday when two chimpanzees grabbed his feet and pulled him under a fence into their enclosure, Jeffrey Wicks of the Netcare911 medical emergency services company said in a statement obtained by The Associated Press on Friday. Mediclinic Nelspruit, the hospital where he was taken, said Friday he was in intensive care in critical condition after undergoing surgery Thursday. The man had “multiple and severe bite wounds” and was dragged nearly a kilometer by the chimpanzees, Wicks said. Beeld, a South African newspaper, reported Friday that the man was an American researcher who was giving tourists a lecture at the time of the attack. The tourists were escorted to safety by staff members as the chimpanzees dragged the man out of their enclosure, Beeld reported. The sanctuary’s director fired into the air to scare the chimps away from the man, and then chased the animals back into their enclosure. Beeld reported the man lost part of an ear and parts of his fingers. The international institute founded by renowned primatologist Jane Goodall opened the sanctuary in 2006. It is a home to chimpanzees, which are not native to South Africa, rescued from further north in Africa. Some of the chimpanzees at the sanctuary lost their parents to poachers in countries where they are hunted for their meat, and others were held in captivity in cruel conditions as little more than roadside attractions. In the United States this week, lawyers for Charla Nash, a Connecticut woman who was attacked in 2009 by a friend’s 200-pound chimpanzee, filed papers accusing state officials of failing to seize the animal before the mauling despite a staff member’s warning that it was dangerous. The chimpanzee ripped off Nash’s nose, lips, eyelids and hands before being killed by police. Nash was left blinded, and received life-changing face transplant in 2010. She is still waiting for a successful hand transplant. There’s no getting his ear and fingers back, but we hope this guy is able to make a full recovery otherwise. It’s the first Spice Girls reunion since their 2008 tour. In response to the fivesome’s return and announcement, “Spice Girls” and “ Viva Forever ” were trending internationally on Twitter this morning … girl power! A promoted tweet from Katy Perry , who is a relative newcomer to pop stardom when compared to the Spice Girls, was the only thing that could keep pace. As a testament to the enthusiasm that greeted the lovely ladies in London, the Spicy topics continued to trend online for hours after the announcement. Were you Tweeting about it? Jenelle Evans Mug Shot: So Sad!

The first photographic proof of Jenelle Evans’ latest arrest has surfaced. The Teen Mom 2 star found herself in a North Carolina jail cell yet again this weekend after allegedly assaulting someone early Sunday morning. Cops have not released the victim’s name, but it is believed to be her fiance Gary Head, who was also reportedly arrested for domestic violence . Whatever happened, Jenelle appears quite sad in her mug shot: According to the Brunswick County (N.C.) Sheriff’s Office, the MTV star was also in possession of marijuana at the time of the incident. Big surprise. Jenelle Evans posted bail and has since been released. Gary Head ‘s status is unclear, but if he attacked Jenelle has some sources have reported, her on/off fiance could be spending a while behind bars. The 20-year-old has been busted more times than we can count, including in January for violating a restraining order and allegedly threatening her ex-roommate, in March for stalking, and of course last year for beating up Britany Truett . Somehow we doubt this mug shot will be her last. UPDATE : Gary’s mug shot has been released:
