‘Blackthorn’ Trailer: Sam Shepard Continues the Story of Butch Cassidy

I remember reading that Sam Shepard was helping revive Butch Cassidy — the character so famously played by Paul Newman in George Roy Hill’s benchmark 1969 western Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid — in Mateo Gil’s new western called Blackthorn. (Mateo Gil co-wrote The Sea Inside and Abre Los Ojos with Alejandro Amenábar.) But I hadn’t thought about the film much at all until the first US trailer… Broadcasting platform : YouTube Source : /Film Discovery Date : 24/08/2011 23:30 Number of articles : 2

Guess who was first out of the box to blame gays/same-sex marriage on the earthquake? Not Pat Robertson; he was my first pick. No, this one actually is a better, bigger batsh*t piece of work. NOM BFF NYC Rabbi Yehuda Levin erupted with this gem … “One of the reasons that God brings earthquakes to the world is because of the transgression of homosexuality. Bruno Mars’ VMA Promo: Go Behind The Scenes!

Mars, who is performing at Sunday’s show, throws an old-school house party in the clip. By Jocelyn Vena Bruno Mars in his 2011 VMA promo Photo: MTV In Bruno Mars ‘ VMA promo, he hangs out with some fresh-looking hipsters while spinning tunes from folks like Ginuwine and Michael Jackson. The clip captures the joie de vivre of a good old-fashioned house party attended by fashionable folks who love to dance. “I think what you’re going to see is a little of my personality, a lot of my influences and a lot of people having a good time,” he told MTV News on the set. “I think that this year’s VMAs is a celebration and a party, and MTV did a great job of putting this commercial together.” In between takes, the party never stopped. Extras and dancers milled around, grooving to the tunes blasting throughout the NYC soundstage. Bruno chilled with everyone, making small talk with his fellow partygoers when the cameras weren’t rolling. The commercial itself is chockfull of great tunes, and when Mars was shooting the promo, he displayed his skills on the piano. So what tunes make Bruno Mars’ party set list? “This is my party; I’m DJing. I’m playing music that I grew up listening to,” he said. “I grew up listening to oldies, and so every time I hear, like, Little Richard or James Brown, the Police, it does something to me. It gets me in the party mood, and I’m just hoping to bring it to this party.” Not only is he set to perform at the VMAs — airing live Sunday at 9 p.m. from L.A. — he’s up for four Moonmen, including Video of the Year , Best Male Video and Best Pop Video for “Grenade.” “I grew up watching VMAs. I know every performance,” Mars said. “Ever since I was a kid, I’ve been watching MTV VMAs, and when we got the phone call saying that my video was up for Video of the Year — that’s the big-boy award.” Mars would be tickled to win Best Choreography for his feel-good track “The Lazy Song.” “You know what I’m excited for?” he said. “As much as I put blood, sweat and tears into ‘Grenade,’ I’m excited for ‘The Lazy Song,’ Best Choreography.” The 28th annual MTV Video Music Awards will air live Sunday, August 28, from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles at 9 p.m. ET/PT, following the Selena Gomez-hosted pre-show at 8. Kanye West, Jay-Z’s Watch The Throne Scores Huge On Billboard

Album sold 436,000 in its first week, including a record 290,000 on iTunes. By Gil Kaufman Jay-Z and Kanye West Photo: Johnny Nunez/ WireImage The Throne will get a royal reception on the Billboard 200 albums charts next week. Watch the Throne , the superstar hookup between Kanye West and Jay-Z , sold more than 436,000 copies in its first week, according to figures provided by Nielsen SoundScan, putting up the second-biggest debut sales week of the year so far, behind Lady Gaga ‘s Born This Way, which moved 1.1 million. Thanks to a three-day iTunes exclusive that launched last Monday (August 8-10), the pair also reportedly broke the record for the biggest iTunes debut ever, selling almost 290,000 digital copies, enough to beat out former record-holder Coldplay ‘s Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends, which sold 282,000 copies in 2008. According to Billboard , with 321,000 total downloads, Throne is second only to Born This Way (662,000) for the biggest digital week ever. See what fans thought of the Watch the Throne pop-up store, which appeared in NYC last week. The album might have sold more, but some experts said its staggered release — following the iTunes exclusive, it was available to all digital and physical sellers on Friday, giving fans only two days to snatch it up before SoundScan’s tracking week ended on Sunday — may have curtailed its first-week sales potential. Either way, it’s a huge score for both rappers, earning Jay his 12th #1 album and Kanye his fifth. There are a few other debuts in the top 10, but they pale in comparison to the Throne numbers. Country singer Luke Bryan ‘s Tailgates & Tanlines comes in at #2 (145,000), the Now 39 compilation is just behind at #3 (110,000) and rapper Ace Hood hits #8 with Blood Sweat & Tears (26,000). The rest of the top 10: Adele ‘s 21 (#4, 73,000), Eric Church ‘s Chief (#5, 37,000), Jason Aldean ‘s My Kinda Party (#6, 36,000), Beyonc

Beyonce covers InStyle magazine’s September 2011 issue. Wearing a shimmering, black and gold Dolce & Gabbana dress adorned with stars, Bey literally shines! Inside, she talks female friends, free time and (finally!) motherhood: On changing her focus after taking a break: “I sacrificed so much as a kid and as a teenager. I have no regrets because my job kept me focused. When you’re young—18 or 19—you have the energy and drive. That’s the time to work as hard as you can. Now I’m a woman, and because I gave it my all, I can focus on my marriage. I can decide I want to have kids. I can be the mother I want to be and dedicate myself to my children.” On what she does in her down time: “In my free time I prefer to do nothing but sit on the couch and watch TV. I have to confess that my guilty pleasure is Jersey Shore.” On friends: “I am a girl’s girl. Women who don’t have female friends scare me. I love my friends, and I love sitting with them and listening to their stories.” Beyonce Rocks Cute $24 Dress Beyonce Performs “Countdown” At NYC’s Roseland Ballroom [VIDEO] Beyonce, Solange & Kelly Shoot Retro-Themed “Party” Video [PHOTOS] Beyonce Covers Harper’s Bazaar [PHOTOS]
