Lady Gaga’s ‘Born This Way’ Fashions Decoded

Gaga’s inner circle reveals the secrets behind the looks in the video. By Jocelyn Vena Lady Gaga (file) Photo: Tom Briglia/ WireImage While its visuals were no doubt memorable for fans of the “Born This Way” video , Lady Gaga’s funky fashions have also caught the eye of fashionistas everywhere. The video’s creative director, Laurieann Gibson , credits Gaga’s stylist, Nicola Formichetti, for embracing eye-catching couture for the Nick Knight-directed clip. “When we found Nicola Formichetti — we found him when we were doing Much Music — before that we were just basically hustling and she was making a lot of the costumes, and we were grinding and America Apparel was our best friend,” Gibson recalled. “And then we found Nicola and he just got it. So when we’re on set, the Haus is such a collaboration, and Nicola is inspired and loves the passion of the dance. He is fashion, and him and Gaga together are magic. To see them push and pull, it’s just a real process. It’s like the Factory. It’s very Warhol how we operate.” Formichetti blogged about the video’s expansive fashion credits. In the opening sequence of the video, the star wears a head accessory by Alexis Bittar, a diamond neckpiece by Erickson Beamon with earrings by Pamela Love, and a stained-glass dress by Petra Storrs. Gaga also wears finger rings by Erickson Beamon and the technical chiffon was designed by Thierry Mugler. During the birthing scene, co-star Raquel Zimmermann wears a bodysuit by Atsuko Kudo and a neckpiece by the Baroness. Gaga wears shoes by Natacha Marro. In the following scene, Zimmerman wears boots by Kobi Levi. And for Gaga’s floating head scene, she wears Kudo and Levi, as well. During the evil-Gaga gun scene, the singer dons knife shoes by Mugler, a dress by Sorcha O’ Raghallaigh and gloves by Portolano. When the song finally kicks in, Gaga wears skimpy lingerie that includes a bra by OMD, underwear by NYC Sex Trash by Stephanie Paterek, gloves by LaCrasia and customized half-sole shoes by Capezio. She completes the look with a special “BTW” jacket by TomTom. For the “Born This Way” skeleton scene, both she and her skeleton lover, Rico, wear tuxedos by Mugler. For the orgy, the slime is courtesy of Bart Hess. For her Michael Jackson impression in the alley, Gaga wears a shirt and pants by Haus of Gaga, shoes by Natacha Marro, a Billykirk belt and LaCrasia gloves. As the video closes out, the unicorn horn is courtesy of Jennifer Behr. Related Videos MTV News Extended Play: Lady Gaga Creative Director Laurieann Gibson Related Artists Lady Gaga

Charlie Sheen on Mel Gibson: One Cool Dude!

Charlie Sheen has spoken out once again. In his latest interview – following sit-downs with NBC, ABC and TMZ – the actor appeared on Piers Morgan Tonight yesterday and touched on a number of topics. Has he ever hit a woman? “No, women are not to be hit. They’re to be hugged and caressed, you know?” What about the incident with Brooke Mueller in Colorado and Capri Anderson in NYC? “The Aspen thing was thrown out. The judge was like, get this guy out of my county, he brings too much press with him… and then the police report in New York just didn’t reflect anything.” Charlie Sheen Interview: I’ve Never Hit a Woman Did Mel Gibson really call? “He was not calling for any advice, just like, ‘thought you might like to hear a friendly voice.’ He was a stone cold dude. I was really impressed.” ( Editor’s note : this is the first time in recorded history that someone has described Gibson’s voice as “friendly.” Allow us this counterpoint .) Below, Sheen offers his take on John Stamos as a possible replacement for him and also hands Morgan a copy of his most recent drug test. Really… Charlie Sheen on Piers Morgan Tonight Charlie Sheen on John Stamos: FAIL!

Odd Future See Grammys, ‘Icon’ Status In Their Future

On ‘RapFix Live,’ we ride a bus with the L.A. hip-hop collective to see what they’re all about. By Kelley L. Carter Tyler, The Creator Photo: MTV News These guys may very well be the future. Or at least get props from Justin Bieber sometime soon. For Thursday’s (February 24) “RapFix Live,” MTV News caught up with the guys of Los Angeles hip-hop collective Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All on a bus from NYC to Philadelphia shortly after their “Late Night With Jimmy Fallon” performance. “I’m this close to Justin Bieber acknowledging me,” rapper Tyler, the Creator joked of their Internet fame. While hanging out on the bus, the guys said their brand of hip-hop is so different that it makes them a bit uncomfortable to label their shows as “rap.” “We’re so opposite,” Tyler said. “If you go to any other rapper’s show, they just stand there and rap.” Domo Genesis piped up in the background, adding, “I don’t think our shows are rap shows. Even though it’s rap music, they’re not rap shows at all.” Tyler continued: “Rap is really just too conventional. Everybody does the same thing. No one ever pushes the box. And then when you get people pushing the line too far, people are like, ‘What the f— is this?’ And then it’s like … ‘This is tight, it’s new.’ We’re doing something that no one has ever done before.” The bandmembers also talked up their fans’ energy. “You know how many [middle] fingers we get at our shows? That means something to them,” Tyler said. And as for the future? The guys are hoping it looks bright. “I want Grammys. I want to perform at the Super Bowl,” Tyler said. “I want to be a … icon. Kanye West went like this. I want to be on his level. I want 100 years from now to look at the history books and they see … us on some icon type sh–.” Do you think Odd Future will make the hip-hop history books? Let us know in the comments! Carmelo Anthony Says ‘You Can’t Win A Championship By Yourself’

NBA star spoke to MTV News at the 2011 NBA All-Star Game, a day before being traded to the N.Y. Knicks. By James Montgomery, with reporting by Rahman Dukes Carmelo Anthony Photo: MTV News On Monday, after months of speculation, close calls and near misses, the season-long drama surrounding NBA superstar Carmelo Anthony finally came to a close when it was announced that he had been traded to the New York Knicks. The trade involved a blockbuster three-team deal involving 11 different players, a sundry of draft picks and $3 million in cash. And that announcement was greeted with much rejoicing by long-suffering hoops fans in New York City, who finally have hope that their beloved Knicks can end their 40-year championship drought with the tandem of ‘Melo and Amar’e Stoudemire a ton of cap room, and a potentially scintillating free-agent class in 2012. But before he packed his bags for NYC, Anthony spoke about his potential move to MTV News on Sunday, hours before the tip-off of the 2011 NBA All-Star Game in Los Angeles. And even then, he seemed to signify that big things were in the works. “I mean, I think right now, people got to do what they got to do. At the end of the day, people want to win, and I guess some people feel like they can’t do it by their selves,” Anthony said. “You can’t win a championship by yourself, so you start seeing teams forming up, creating the tandems that they need and the players they need, and trying to go out there and compete.” Anthony then added, with a smile, “It’s going to be a big weekend, man.” And those sentiments were echoed by Anthony’s wife, actress and former MTV on-air talent La La Vazquez, who didn’t let on that the continuous coverage of her husband’s situation was weighing on her. She was just focused on having a good time during the celeb-filled All-Star weekend , and determined to let the chips fall where they may. “This weekend is amazing and so much fun,” she said. “I am literally running off zero sleep. It’s been nonstop parties and fun.”

Kate Major to Michael Lohan: Leave Me Alone!

Michael Lohan recently reached out to Billy Ray Cyrus . His ex-fiancee, Kate Major, says he’s been doing the same – and just filed a criminal complaint because he’s calling, harassing and threatening her constantly. A few weeks ago, the on-off couple split (again), Kate tried to pack up her stuff from their NYC apartment, MiLo got in the way and things blew the f*%k up. Kate then fled to her family’s Florida home, where Michael called so much, Kate asked Verizon to permanently block his number, which didn’t sit well with him. Michael allegedly threatened to do “something bad” to her at that point. She filed a criminal complaint with police in Florida and plans to seek a restraining order on Monday. Mike, of course, says her accusations are false as always. MiLo, accused of assault on Kate last summer, only to have her drop the charge, says “She has done this many times, and the allegations always prove false.” Much like his claims of representing Lindsay to the Late Show .

‘Chronicles Of Narnia’ Producer Perry Moore Found Dead

‘He’s been able to reach out and touch a lot of people,’ father says of son, who was reportedly the victim of an overdose. By Shawn Adler Perry Moore Photo: Scott Gries/Getty Images Perry Moore, executive producer of the wildly successful “The Chronicles of Narnia” trilogy and author of the young adult novel “Hero,” died Thursday morning in his NYC home from an apparent overdose of OxyContin, according to The New York Times . He was 39. Moore is reported to have been instrumental in securing the rights to film C.S. Lewis’s epic series for small production house Walden Media. The three films completed so far, “The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe,” “Prince Caspian,” and “The Voyage of the Dawn Treader” have combined to make over $1.5 billion worldwide. Moore, who once promised fans he would endeavor to produce all seven of the books in the “Narnia” series, may have been well on his way to securing financing on a fourth entry, “The Magician’s Nephew,” according to a report on WTKR . A prequel to the events of the first film, “The Magician’s Nephew” takes readers back to the very beginning of Narnia. If accurate, it is unclear why Moore would choose to film this novel rather than the chronological sequel, “The Silver Chair.” Openly homosexual, Moore was passionate about the portrayal of gay characters in comics. Wanting to create a positive, gay super, Moore wrote “Hero,” the story of Thom Creed, a high school basketball star who must simultaneously deal with both his emerging powers and sexuality. One of the last things Moore ever linked to on his personal website was a 2008 story on MTV about “Hero” being turned into an hour long series. According to WTKR, Moore was still working on bringing “Hero” to TV at the time of his death. With partner Hunter Hill, Moore co-wrote and co-directed the drama “Lake City” in 2008. “We’re so sad,” his father, Bill Moore, told The Hollywood Reporter . “He’s been able to reach out and touch a lot of people.”
