Chenelle Agnew was waiting at the Bergen Street subway stop when her cell phone slipped out of her hands and onto the tracks. The 17-year-old jumped on the tracks as an oncoming train rushed towards her. “I saw her in the tracks trying to pick something up. And then I heard her hit. I heard the thump,” the train’s operator, Devone Mason, told press. “I didn’t know if she was alive or dead.” Mason found Agnew under the train car, alive, and holding her phone. The teen got away with just a few scratches. While being rushed to Methodist Hospital by paramedics, Agnew proceeded to make phone calls from the stretcher. The piece states that Trump blew up Pence’s phone and Pence failed to return a single phone call. It’s been reported that Pence sent Trump a letter saying he needed time to decide whether he could stay with the campaign. But in fact, according to several Republicans familiar with the situation, he wasn’t just thinking about dropping out—he was contemplating a coup. Within hours of The Post’s bombshell, Pence made it clear to the Republican National Committee that he was ready to take Trump’s place as the party’s nominee. Such a move just four weeks before Election Day would have been unprecedented—but the situation seemed dire enough to call for radical action.
